El Pollo Loco is CRAZY good. I don't know if its because I loved eating it with family as we visited Great America and Valley Fair Mall, but since its opened in the East Bay I crave it more than usual. My favorite would have to be a 2 pc./ 2 side combo with mashed potatoes (extra gravy), spanish rice & flour tillas. Don't forget to ask for sides of cilantro, onions & extra extra lemons. They have a salsa bar inside filled with a variety of fresh kinds- i'm not the salsa type though. Its righ by my grandmas house.... which is an ultimate score in my book! read more

I love how this place offers more healthier options than your typical Mexican eatery. Plus they offer a value menu as well. Although, this review is based on my most current visit. I went there around 7pm on a Saturday night. I elected to go inside and order something to go because the line at the drive thru was ridiculous. When I get inside, there was about 5 ppl ahead of me. So, I felt that coming inside was the right decision. Half an hour later, I'm still waiting on my order. Ironically, the drive thru was now empty. Finally, My food comes out around the 40 min mark. I get home to find out, that my avocado salad has no avocado. I definitely haven't given up on this place. I'll just use the drive thru, the next time I go during the dinner rush. read more

So 1 : they forgot all of our damn tortillas ( we asked and asked again that they all were there & checked ourselves turns out only 1 was there ) 2: I asked for no cilantro because I have an allergy and although it had the "special" sticker on top it was covered in cilantro so I couldn't eat . 3: THERES A SHORT SILVER HAIR IN MU FOOD . Don't ever eat here or if you do make sure to give the employees shit for being lazy and not doing their jobs . I work in fast food and I can't believe the quality of my experience here . I don't get it. People clamored around the salsa bar and pushed and shoved just to fill their little plastic tubs with the different salsas. I saw some with 5-10 little tubs. Then there's this dude filling up his tubs to the top only to have the sauces squirt all over the place trying to lid the things. Geez. It's just salsa. One or two tubs should be enough. Anyway, the chicken was good, tender, moist and flavorful. The $1 taquito wasn't much of anything and they could have put more chicken in it. So overall, better than the first time I tried them eons ago. But the wait of 15+ minutes to get your order at a fast food place is a no-no. Hopefully it was just a fluke. read more

Their chicken always burn ( some parts), but there are not many places for grill chickens. Definitely come back for that reason and the free salsa bars. Service are okay. Some of the employees doesn't understand English at all, but it okay too because it not like I giving them tips anyway. It a 3 star places everything just ok. read more

Really like the taco salads, grilled chicken, and most of the sides.. Great value for the dollar, just really wish they could get an order right once in awhile. I have gotten food here probably twenty times in the last year, and I swear only two of the visits were without errors. Constantly giving the wrong salad, the wrong dressing, somebody else's order, wrong side dishes, etc.. I swear the only reason I always get the right beverage is because it's self serve. I'm literally unwilling to go thru drive thru, because I know that I'll be back in the lobby in 5 minutes anyway to correct whatever it is this time.. So, if you're willing to wait (ya, they're also a bit slow) and are OK checking every part of your order every single time, and are competent at explaining mistakes to people that may not be the best at English, then ya.. the food is pretty ok! read more

Flavorless roasted chicken. High prices. Slow service inside. Drive thru is fast but if you're ordering a lot of food you're almost always missing something in the end. And I hate to say this but the staff does not and never had reflected the cultural diversity of the area. Very unusual for a chain place. read more

Wow. I'm shocked the rating for this place is so low. I was just introduced recently to this place (even though I don't live far from it at all) and I loved it. I haven't tried everything on the menu but I tried the chicken and I thought it was moist and very flavorful. The sides I tried were mashed potatoes and veggies (carrots, cauilflower and broccoli). The potatoes tasted like KFC's instant and the veggies were your standard veggies but no seasoning at all. They should peel their carrots first though. Oh, and the flour tortillas were soggy because they put it in a little plastic bag. That was dumb. But overall my experience was cool and I'll definitely try them again. read more

I love El Pollo Loco - it's my favorite fast food place cause it's tasty and seems mildly healthy. Even though this location is a bit of a trek, I still drive up at least once a month to get my chicken. This location is particularly nice. It's always well staffed and kept clean. It can get pretty busy at peak meal times, so be warned that you might end up waiting a bit. But for me, it's totally worth the drive and the wait. read more

I usually get the 8 piece only and also like their churros. Its a good chicken fast food joint to go to if you don't want the regular old fried chicken. I use the chicken in soup and top ramen. Good for eating by itself or incorporating it in other food. read more

I went to el pollo loco to the drive thru order my 10pc meal where first if all they took forever like literally, second i got home with the order they gave me just so i can find out that it wasn't what i had order they gave me someone else's order, i didnt even want to go argue with them so i just threw everything away and went to taco bell read more

My Son and I eat at the El Pollo Loco in San Pablo fairly regularly. The chicken is the best fast food chicken that I have ever eaten. You can see it being cooked on the grill (not fried). The side orders are also very good. I particularly like their soup and a salad that has great cilantro dressing. The service is always friendly. The restaurant and bathrooms are clean. The noise level can get a little loud when one of the cooks is chopping up the chicken. The prices are high compared to hamburger places, but in line with other chicken restaurants. I do not understand why at the market chicken is cheaper than beef, but in restaurants chicken is more expensive than beef. That is just a fast food reality. I noted in another person's review, something about "Lock up the doors kids" because there are sketchy people hanging out in the El Pollo Loco parking lot. I have never observed sketchy people hanging out in the parking lot. I have noted that El Pollo Loco is a favorite place to eat for many of the San Pablo Police Officers. This particular chain went from okay to really bad. The chicken pieces they served to begin with were pretty modest and now they're downright tiny. Tonight's meal marks the end of my patronage.
