I keep meaning to leave a review for this place but I eat up the food so fast and I forget to take a picture! This place is absolutely amazing! I have tried so much of their menu but still have lots to try. I have had the fish tacos (both regular and spicy grilled), seafood mix fajitas, Carne asada tacos, shrimp tacos, king burrito, go fancy burrito, octopus echilado taco, fish civiche, soft shell crab burrito...I think that's about it. Every single item was packed with flavor and they do not skimp with the ingredients!! Their sauces just add a new dimension of flavor (the Chipotle sauce is my favorite!) We originally planned on going to porky's, but it was closed. Turns out that I'm happy we missed it for these tacos. Some of the best tacos I've ever had! I had the octopus, fish and pastor tacos. Octopus can be chewy sometimes and is usually hit or miss. It was surprisingly really well done and not chewy at all. They also have great sauces for their tacos! Very clean & Not your ordinary Food Truck! More like a Food Truck with Table Service. Amazingly fresh & delicious food. My daughter had the shrimp quesadillas, my wife & I had the Carne Asada and fish tacos. They have a regular menu as well as Specials listed on a separate board next to the menu. Once you order your food from a Hostess under a tent set up next to the truck. She then hands the ticket to the chef thru a screened window to prepare your order. There was ample seating under the umbrellas at the picnic beaches. The hostess then brings out your food to the table and explains the differences between the 3 sauces that she retrieved from an ice chest to keep them cold between guests. After awhile the chef came out to bus the tables and make sure there wasn't any trash. After closing the lids on the garbage cans I watched him sanitize his hands before doing anything else & also wiped down the tables. I would think this helps to keep the chickens, birds & bugs away. Then he took over as hostess & she took over to prepare orders. Truly a team operation that takes a lot of pride in both their food & service. Mahalo! read more

From Oahu, but I live in Los Angeles and hold tacos and Mexican food to a higher standard. So, it was with some skepticism that I ordered an assortment of tacos and a burrito for my sis and me tonight. El Rey Del Mar would easily get five stars in LA! There was a limited menu because they were invited to the Cliffs at Princeville. We ordered fish tacos, octopus tacos and the king burrito. All three were generous portions. The ono was moist and had flavorful onions and paper-thin cabbage on top, the octopus was some of the best I've had; grilled with a tasty sauce and thinly sliced cabbage. The burrito was filled with plump shrimp, steak, beans, rice and guacamole. Broke da mouth! Even the rice was given delicate flavor and moist. Beans were simple with a little cheese and a perfect side. Beware the sauces; delicious but even the claimed mild one has a kick. This is one of those occasions I felt the prices were worthy of the food because of the attention to quality, preparation and quantity. read more

Over the years, we have probably tried nearly every single fish taco and/or burrito on the island. I guess it's an obsession! We decided to split a 2 fish taco platter with rice & beans and it only set us back $12 bucks. Portions were generous - loaded in fact, as if we had made it for ourselves at home. Split platter was perfect for a lighter, yet filling meal. All ingredients very fresh and the sauces were high quality. Friendly staff very helpful. YOOOOOO. Let's talk about the best Mexican food I've had in 3 years coming to this island. We hit the truck yesterday on a whim, headed for our annual Waimea trip. I was going to order tacos, and the man at the counter advised us that his wife made the tamales, and they were good. Best advice I ever took, no lie. 3 big tamales for like 12-13 bucks, and they were absolutely unreal. Hubby got a fish burrito, that was huge and he devoured it. Overall, it's been the best meal so far--and I'm so mad at myself for never stopping for this truck before. Seriously, do yourself a favor and get down there right now and order some food. You'll be so glad you did, and I'm going to eat there like 10 more times in the next 2 weeks. I don't care about driving down there from the North Shore. Totally worth it. read more

Kind of surprised this place got such high reviews! I tried the taco truck right before this place and was impressed by the mahi mahi tacos so wanted to try this the next day. Tried the fish and chicken tacos. The fish ones weren't bad it I didn't honk they were super special. The chicken tacos were meh. Didn't have that authentic taco truck taste or ingredients that make them taste fresh. But I'm from a place that has tons of taco trucks so maybe I'm spoiled. read more
