Upon entering the restaurant and seeing the tables full in people chowing down, I knew I was going to have a good time. The owner greeted and served me during lunchtime. Quick to provide recommendations like the limonada (fresh lemonade) that reminded me of my mom's recipe. He sold me on the sopaipilla with carne adovada. While my food was getting ready, he gave me a carne adovada sample to try - warm, spicy, savory pork in su jugo "juices" *wiping away my drool*. The sopaipilla was huge! I felt like I got the works! The bread was soft and great for scooping up the meat, beans, cheese, lettuce, and guacamole that filled it. I went into a mini food coma and had to say no to the sopaipilla with honey for dessert (still thinking about it). They sell small knick knacks like candy, toys, and earrings at the register. I especially liked the earrings! This is an Albuquerque must for authentic Mexican food! Your waistline will not thank you later. read more

I love this place. I come here when I get off the plane hungry in Albuquerque. My favorite thing so far is the adovada burrito, but this place doesn't miss. It's all abuela's cooking at a very reasonable price. I also came in with food allergies and the manager is always careful to make sure my food was safe. We stopped by to get a burrito for my husband after a visit to the VA. We had never been to El Sabor De Juarez. It just happened to be very close. Let me tell you, the place was packed. First sign is that it's good if it's busy with the locals. Secondly the husband and wife who own it were hoping. Super nice, providing over the top service. They were so nice and the food was great. We were looking for food options in the area and absolutely didn't want to visit one of the chains or fast food spots down the road, and we came across this spot and decided to try it since it had such good reviews on Yelp. I'm so glad we did! I had a bowl of menudo and it was delicious. The chile was really rich and flavorful. The bolillo that came with it was very soft and fresh. The chips and salsa were also very good. My fiancé's food was excellent but o can't remember what he had. Carne asada tacos maybe? Whatever it was, it disappeared quickly. We'll definitely come back - I wish the parking lot was bigger but I suppose if that happened, the restaurant t would get overcrowded, so maybe not. read more

I ordered two of the carne asada with guacamole to go. I was starving and extremely disappointed with the flavor, size and FLAVOR! First, the burritos are smalls. And there is no flavor. I talk about home in the walls frequently & my affinity towards them. This place defines them. A lot people in a small area serving great Mexican food. Today was a large bowl of menudo. Almost everyplace serves posole - few serve menudo. The menudo was "picoso" it had a lot of tripe and for another $1 you could get extra. Instead of tortillas you get a roll to soak up the juices. Overall our breakfast was excellent. If the rest of the menu is this good, we have found our perfect place for Mexican. This is one of few places I say is an absolute must try! read more

Been coming here since 1983 if you can believe it! My first experience was the stuffed sopapilla w/red and it was the best this local had in a while! Then I worked close by for a bit while in collage and got addicted to their breakfast burrito! They later added a little patio and we'd stop in for huevos and enchiladas all great! This is exactly as advertised and delivered good quality New Mexican lunch. The Combination Plate #1 with a Beef Taco, Beef Tamale and Cheese Enchilada with a side of Beef Adovada. The taco was solid, crunchy and held together, cheese enchilada with red chili sauce is on point, but the beef tamale fell flat a bit. It was decent, but not the best thing on the plate. The beef adovada was the best thing I ate and I would come back just to eat that again. The rice and beans on the side left room for seasoning and also fell short of expectations. It's close to the airport, and the food is amazing and service exceptionally friendly. It's obviously been there quite a while and has a strong local following. I had my first and last meals in New Mexico and I don't think you're going to find a better, non-pretentious expression of New Mexican cusine. I came to eat with my husband and ordered enchiladas and their combo plate. I was sooo disappointed because the food was really bad. The Mexican rice not authentic at all, it tasted like pilaf rice with tomato sauce. The chile relleno had no cheese in it, it was only the egg batter and chile. The enchilada tortillas were not soft, I had to get a knife to cut through enchilada. Came here for lunch on a Thursday ~1230 with a group of 8. The restuarant is small and we ended up sitting outside. I ordered the carne asada taco plate and had some sopapillas. The meat was very flavorful; however, some pieces were definitely overcooked and chewy. But overall, the meat was great. The rice and refried beans were great. Nothing to write home about.
