This place is a little hole in the wall that's been around since the 80's. Great staff , great prices and everything is homemade. So far I've had the menudo which in my opinion is the best in town! I ordered dinner from this place via GrubHub. I got the 3 cheese enchilada plate and was very impressed with it. The red sauce had a wonderful kick to it, and the rice and beans that came with it were very good, too. The only negative about the experience was it took considerably longer on the delivery than what GrubHub gave me as an estimate, but I believe the issue to be with GrubHub and not the restaurant. 1. Was looking for a good home style New Mexican meal before I caught a flight home. I brought some colleagues and we were not disappointed. Great flavors, good quality and affordable. Three of us ate here with drinks, appetizer and our meals for 30 bucks. 2. Right from the start with the chips and salsa it was good. The salsa was fresh made and had real kick. I had the combo plate which includes a taco, tamale and enchilada adovada. The adovada was really tasty, I would get it again for sure. I gage all Mexican food places on how good their tamales and red chili are and their's was spot on. The tacos were made with corn tortillas freshly fried like my family from NM does at home. 3. El Sabor is family run and owner is really welcoming. It's a hole in the wall place you could easily drive by. Next time I'm visiting New Mexico this is going to be my first stop. read more

I was staying at hotel near airport, read good reviews for this place, and very pleased I checked it out. It was great to have on final terrific Mexican meal before I left. The place is not much to look at and sits at the end of a mall with a giant pawnshop. Do not let the looks deceive you. When you come in, the menu is a little confusing. It will help to look at photos of the food which are to the right. The service was extremely friendly. I was eating meal there, so I ordered food first and then sat down (paying afterwards). I had some iced tea and then they brought out a bowl of chips and salsa. The salsa was excellent, just the right amount of spice. I ordered the Pollo con Mole combo plate (chicken with mole sauce). The mole sauce was rich and wonderful. The chicken just melted in your mouth. The portions were generous, with a good portion of yummy rice and beans. It also came with a giant tortilla which was fresh and tasty. I was full, but the food was so good I practically licked the plate. If I lived here I would eat at this place weekly. Was on the way back from a VA hospital appointment before lunch and stopped by with my wife at this small but authentic Mexican Food restaurant to dine in. I had the Machaca with eggs and she the stuffed sopapillia and both were delicious! There were a couple of folks dining in when we arrived and our food order came out quickly. Which included a tamale, a beef taco, enchilada with a side of rice, beans and carne adovada.. also came with a HUGE flour tortilla. I also ordered the horchata and it was amazing as well! Almost had this fruity taste to it along with the rice flavor.. which was different and delicious! I tore that plate up I tell ya! The beans rice and carne adovada I actually wrapped in the tortilla and it made a sizeable burrito! You could legit have 2 meals off this one plate.. which is a bonus for me! I love this place. Brings me back to the days of sitting in the mercado, eating with friends, waiting for Tony the Whistler to bring buckets of beer in preparation of a night out at Tequila Derby. The burros are the best. My favorites: the Juarez con chorizo and the chili Relleno burrito. I've been working my way through the menu though and nothing disappoints. Quick, too. Got the breakfast burrito and the bacon did live up to the hype! The eggs were fluffy/moist and the chile was delicious. I asked for my potatoes crispy but they were not crispy at all. So if you're like me and only want potato's in your burrito if they're crispy, leave em out. I ordered online and asked that beans and sour cream be added on the inside (I was traveling and didn't want to deal with a container of sour cream on the side). The beans made it to the inside but they put the SC on the side.. so maybe if you have any special requests, call to make sure they're clear on what you're asking. read more

Mexican food is my favorite food, but for some reason I do not have a taste for New Mexican food. I've tried a couple of places here, and this one follows the same pattern as most NM food. It was bland, the beans were a grey color I've never seen before, and the red and green sauce wasn't spicy or flavorful. The beef taco was pretty good, but nothing special. If you love NM food, then disregard this review, but I much rather eat Cali or Tex Mex than suffer through another NM food nightmare. read more

I had not been here in oh , 15 years ...... and drive by quite often now. It's excellent in every way . Authentic, hand made , just what I was craving. The relleno was light and oozing with cheese . So tender and flavorful. The red and green chile were both super on my enchiladas . It was a rare treat to get some food to go during this time . I love to cook so it's no big deal .
