Enjoyed the Sunday brunch for the first time. For a buffet style brunch the food was very good. Highlights were corn stuffing and the chile verde. The manager was great and gave us a tour of the set up. Salvador was a very nice and attentive server and did a great job. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was lively with a good crowd.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would give them a try if in the Covina area. "FIMP" Food is my Passion

Had an amazing time with my family at El Torito! There were so many delicious options to choose from, and everything was fresh and constantly being replenished, which we really appreciated. Sometimes there's something comforting about a restaurant where you know exactly what you're going to get, and El Torito is one of those places for me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was pleasantly surprised by how bright, open, and inviting this West Covina location feels, making it an enjoyable place to sit down and relax.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While it's a chain, I've always found the food to be flavorful and consistently good, which is why I keep coming back. I'm also a big fan of the chips and salsa, and it's way too easy to fill up on them before the meal even arrives. Reliable restaurants are underrated, and I've never left this location feeling disappointed.

Had a great dinner on a random Thursday night! Our waiter, Salvador, was awesome! He took care of us and made sure our dining experience was perfect! The food was tasty and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back!

Oofff... I didn't realize it is a C rating, I pass by this place so frequently and I haven't been here in so long. I used to LOVE THE Corn cake, it's this sweet corn mash thats not really even a cake. We order the grande fiesta platter, and the ignited fajita superme. (We requested non spicy) Also a queso dip for the chips. It was so good we cleaned the plates off almost instantly, the flautas so flaky and crispy. Quesadilla stuffed with cheese. It was so satisfying. The service is a bit slow, not bad but I was getting a little impatient. The inside is the same as always warmly lit, not too bright.

First time at El Torito and I heard good things about the place an food. It was a weekday night so wasn't as busy, we only had to wait a few minutes for our table to be ready and we sat at a booth. The place was very well decorated with many statues, facade building structures and decorations as if you are in a very cozy homestyle village. The chips we got were a bit hard but the refills are much better, the salsa was actually really spicy. Unfortunately I am not good with spicy food, most of the food were listed as spicy, however, our server was able to accommodate and put in our order as non-spicy. We ordered the queso dip so I can eat the chips they gave, very delicious when hot! Difficult to eat once cooled so eat it while it's hot. We also got the Grande Fiesta Platter, nonspicy, which meant the wings were plain (still amazing, crispy), flautas were so flaky and crispy, and nachos were good but when the beans solidified it was hard to eat without sticking to my mouth. For mains, we shared the ignited fajitas supremas, it looks like it had the most to offer as a mix of everything. We got flour tortillas and it was good, I think the corn bread was the best, I feel they gave more shrimp than chicken/beef but the portions may be for one person rather than 2. Overall, we ate everything, I enjoyed the food, I really want to try their brunch buffet, I think I would enjoy it more.

Just left Sunday brunch at El torito on 3/15 and I don't even know where to start with what a disaster this place is. We made a reservation for 12 guests for my moms 64th birthday about 1 month in advance and requested to be sat outside for a more spacious and less noisy environment as we would have a newborn baby with us + my 90 year old grandmother. As soon as we got there, we were placed at a crammed table INSIDE although we were told originally told we would get the outside space. Upon sitting in the very tight space, we all got up to go serve ourselves at the buffet which did not have any plates available for about 10 minutes and a lot of the main dishes had not been replenished. Guests were squeezing in wherever they could in the buffet as there was 0 structure and no employees watching the buffet to make sure there was some sort of organization. It honestly looked like a bunch of ants fighting for food. My husband and I then got in the taco line while we waited for plates as it was a long wait for tacos anyway. There was 1 lady at the taco station making tortillas which took her a VERY long time to make. This is not her fault-only El Torito's fault for not staffing properly. When it was finally our turn to ask for tacos, she proceeded to give us tortillas and we helped ourselves to serving the meat as we saw other people doing so. The taco lady yanked the serving spoon away from my husbands hand and said it was her job to serve us. We thought that was very rude and uncalled for. We didn't know she was also supposed to serve us as she was SO busy making tortillas. Again, this is El Torito's fault for lacking organization. Aside from this, None of the food was labeled so there was a lot of very confused people just serving themselves. I had random people behind me asking me what the dish was that I was serving myself. Finally, when the mariachi came to sing my mom happy birthday, one of the hosts/servers walked a family of 10 right THROUGH the mariachi which completely ruined the video we were recording for my mom with the mariachi singing to her. This place lacks lots of class, good service, organization, and quality. I remember coming here about 10 years ago when it was a lot different. It's safe to say, we don't plan on coming back here and I don't advise anyone to come here for any special celebrations as management does not care to make your experience a special one. My mom was very disappointed that we had to spend her birthday here. My sister asked to speak to a manager halfway through our meal and we were told a manager would come but they never did. I would appreciate if management reached out to me directly so we could discuss this matter.

Delicious need to taste Cindi is a great waitress and very helpful. She even goes out of her way to go get your omelet.

Ate here well served by SALVADOR. Look for for him. He kept coming to see if we needed anything and kept bringing our refills. Thanks Salvodor

We went on 5 de Mayo, early enough before lines got long. We haven't been to an El Torito in years!!! We were skeptical but wanted some tacos. We waited 25 minutes and got seated. We ordered à la carte. The chips were golden and nicely salted. Salsa was nice. Ordered a guacamole. Needed a little salt but overall fresh. The plates of food were really good and so were the drinks. Overall a great experience. The only bad thing was the service. We knew it was busy and our waitress tried her best. We didn't get utensils, never got our queso fundido, when we did we were done with our meal, same with my tortillas for my fajitas. They came when I was done. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was vibing with it being 5 de mayo and taco Tuesday. It was nice and clean and everyone was super friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We'll come back.

I would give negative stars if it was possible. I was with my family and didn't feel good about sending the plate back. First, the chips tasted rancid. It could have been the oil they were fired in, or they sat and went bad. The playing was just weird. The elongated plates weren't as bald as the multi-leveled metal fajita thing was just odd. My 'enchilada/tamale' combo was pathetic. The 'enchilada' was a tortilla that had about 2 oz of what seemed to be a hard slice of congealed old cheese. The tortilla wasn't soft, like an enchilada soaked in sauce, but chewy and stale. The 'tamale' was thin and had a very negligible about of chicken. I know whatever good tamales are. Frozen tamales are better than this miserable failure. The mass was about 1/4 inch wrapped around what was maybe, chicken. Seriously, it was a slap in the face of disappointment. A table was seated next to us that left shortly after they viewed the expensive menu. I've worked in kitchens for 30 years and have only seen prison food (from a multi use catering kitchen) this low quality. I did taste my brother's carnitas. It tasted good, but was very fatty. The waitress was nice, and at one point, a man named Yao Chan came an asked how we were. He should have been able to see my my plate that I didn't enjoy my meal. If you actually like this place, try ANY other place in the area. It was just GROSS read more

We absolutely love this place, every Sunday they have bottomless mimosas and buffet. We try and come at least once a month it's a great deal and the service did phenomenal, you never have to ask for a refill the servers are on it. Ricardo and Maria are the best servers !!! Always on it everytime we go we hope to get them they definitely stand out !! Also, the buffet is fresh they have people their cooking and serving you. Definitely a must try! read more

We had brunch here this morning. We had a party of 11 and we made reservations we were seated right away. We had the all you can eat buffet. All of their food was great! After having reservations for this place, we thought the night and dinner were going to run smoothly. Wrong. It was not busy to begin with. Drinks took forever to come out. They sat on the counter (we could see them) for quite awhile and the waitress didn't get them until we asked. She kept running off so it was hard to even ask for water. 11 of us went for Sunday Brunch. Got there at the time they opened. Got seated, and received our drinks fairly quick. The buffet brunch variety is good, from omelet bar, salad bar, waffles and the standard mexican food...enchiladas, chile verde, beans, rice and even a pasta bar which was delicious. So why the 4 stars? Only because I would have like to see more fresh fruit and the tortillas were not displayed for easy access. There is a lady making corn tortillas but I never saw her and had to ask for tortillas. $20.99 per person, a tad over priced for the food. No roast beef, or ham not even bacon as in American buffet. read more

I made a 5:45pm reservation for my son's wedding rehearsal party of 25 on Sunday, October 13th and was required to pay $200 in advance for a buffet style dinner for our entire party. We were on time and got seated however, we waited for 45 minutes while our server waited on and serviced other customers. When I asked the server how much longer we were going to have to wait he responded, "It's going to be about another 15 minutes bro, we have to wait on another party before you guys can go!" First of all I'm just an old guy, but I don't expect a young man to refer to me as "bro" Secondly, the other party had nothing to do with us. They had a totally separate buffet independent of ours. I met with the manager and told him that I was very unhappy with their service and also made him aware that the Chicken and Beef which was part of our menu had been sitting out at the buffet area for 45 minutes. The young waiter came back to our table and once again addressed me stating "It's going to be another t minutes Bro." My party, which included young children and older adults, were very upset with the lack of attention and the extended wait time. I finally informed the manager that we were ready to leave after waiting for almost an hour. The manager then told us to go ahead to the buffet and serve ourselves. Our party was hungry and went to the buffet line. However, they were still not ready for us. They did not have all of the food out which I had previously ordered, no beans, rice, enchiladas, etc. Our party was extremely upset. If we could have found a nearby restaurant to go to we would have left!!! The whole purpose in booking the reservation there was to make it easier for everyone, but it was absolutely terrible. The bottom line was that they were not prepared for us. They were understaffed and we suffered as a result. I called the corporate office on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 to complain and I was told that a District Manager was going to call me. Well sadly, it is now Tuesday, October 22, 2019 and I have still not heard back. The poor service ruined a great evening for our son's wedding party and I'm totally disappointed with the management and corporate office for not responding. They obviously got our money and moved on. read more

I don't think I've ever been to El Torito in my entire life but until today when I went with my uncle , if you like Authentic Mexican food I'd recommend it to you. The restaurant in general seems like a place where you can eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. But also seems like the usual place where families can celebrate special occasions. I ordered the Barbacoa burrito which came with beans and rice,and my uncle ordered the Enchiladas. read more

Huge portion! You can choose your protein. - Fajitas Cielo Mar Y Tierra 5/5 Marinated beef, shrimp, chicken. It served with sauteed bell peppers tomatoes and onions, rice, guacamole, beans and pico de gallo. Someone else gave me the check, and then someone else brought the receipt. The initial server didn't pop up until I was getting up to walk out. So no manager interaction. No "we'll comp your coffee." Just a "Sorry you didn't like it." As I walked out. Ambiance is cool, but some table placement doesn't make sense. That needs to be addressed. Will I come back here? I don't know. Maybe. Maybe not. So when I realized this El Loco was still around, I had to come check it out for old time's sake. I went with the chili relleno burrito, and I'm happy to report that it was delicious. And enormous. This thing was so big I could probably take a nap on it. It was cheesy, packed with flavor, and just plain old satisfying. There is one little caveat, though. I noticed the total seemed too high when I paid, and sure enough, I had been overcharged by about four bucks. I pointed it out, and the woman immediately apologized and said she'd made a mistake. I don't think there was anything nefarious going on, but it did leave me wondering how often a mistake like that goes unnoticed when someone isn't paying close attention. So, you know, maybe keep an eye on your receipt. Still, that's a relatively minor ding on what was otherwise a really good experience. The burrito was great, the nostalgia was strong, and I got to revisit a place that I remember from when dinosaurs still roamed the earth. And here's a fun little piece of movie trivia: Good Burger, starring Kenan Thompson, was filmed at this very location. So you can come here for a chili relleno burrito and get your Nickelodeon nostalgia on. That's a pretty solid afternoon.

Don't sleep on El Torito especially for their Sunday brunch all you can eat buffet! There's so much to choose from and I love that as a Mexican restaurant, they play music in Spanish so you really get in the mood! The decor and set up of the restaurant is beautiful and you truly feel like you are in a ranch in Mexico. One added touch we loved was the mariachi that was playing songs throughout the restaurant. We requested two songs from them and they did not disappoint! You pay per song just fyi which is very typical of mariachi groups. Service is amazing here too! The staff is very welcoming, respectful and courteous! Our server Ricardo was very kind and regularly checked in on us to clear our plates, the table or give us refills on drinks. He also made great suggestions like to try the Jamaica and it was so tasty! Ricardo was friendly and attentive throughout our visit to El Torito and we definitely can't wait to go back! Ok so let's talk about the food: There are tamales, enchiladas, rice, beans, sausages, eggs, an omelette station, a taco station with FRESH and HANDMADE tortillas!! Sooo good! You'll also find posole, menudo with all of the fixings and add ons. Just left this restaurant today on a weekday and the service we received was very poor. Today is our actual anniversary 11 years and I wanted just to have a nice dinner today as we both ended up having a long day at work and wanted my wife to enjoy a night out. As we enter this place about 6:30 pm, no one was at the reception area, but after a brief time of waiting in the lobby a server walked up and told us the dining area is not available to seat and we would have to wait about a 10 minute for availably, she suggested it would be faster service in the bar area. As me and my wife looked at each other we notice about 80 percent of the dining area was empty? We both due to hunger ignoring the warning signs kind of agreed to give it a try, but after we seated ourselves and watched tv for a while and looking for a server, it became evident that service was not on the menu. So, realizing this advice was not that great, we grabbed out menu and went back to the receptionist area were this time there was someone there. As we asked for a seat in the dining area, we were promptly told it would be a 15-to-20-minute wait. Once again 80 percent of the restaurant was empty? As we placed our menus on the podium, both of us looking at each other knew it was a lost cause and walked out realizing we would have to think twice before choosing this place again in the future. I spent Taco Tuesday at El Torito, and the guy making the tacos asked me what I wanted. I said pollo, but he said he doesn't speak Spanish. He said he's Cantonese, so I said I want chicken. He was obviously joking (because he's Mexican), but I think he said Cantonese because he assumed I was Chinese (which I'm not). Anyway, this slightly awkward "banter" aside, the lady (in the photo) was kind and lovely. She even gave me a chorizo, even if the "Cantonese" guy looked at her like, "Oh no, you didn't." But back to the food. The pollo tacos were spicy. The guy didn't tell us that they were spicy, so my nephew almost cried while eating. The pollo tacos were actually good, but I don't think kids will like them. It's the kind of spiciness that forces you to drink water or blow your nose. The best part of the meal was the unlimited sides bar. There were all kinds of salsas, which you can combine or top with corn, beans, lettuce, cabbage, cheese, onions, what have you. My experience was terrible because of the awful servers at today's brunch it is 11/7 a Sunday morning. And me and my husband went to brunch and the people serving the food were terrible! Well not all the serves, but the two white people at the waffle bar and the food bar next to the waffle bar were awful! They looked so ugly and miserable to be there working. Not to mention how rude and unwelcoming they both were. The small blonde lady was so rude and evil looking she would just grunt like an animal everytime someone approached the waffle bar. The man next to her wasn't any better he was a old white man with a dead look in his eyes also so terrible. I will not be going back if they continue to have those barbaric lowlifes serving the food. Save your money and go elsewhere. It's a great place don't get me wrong but those two serves ruined my experience. The others serving were not to bad except for those two racist white people! I ordered through DoorDash last night, and I called the restaurant and she answered because I wanted to make sure that my order would be 100% correct because I know the DoorDash people don't pay attention whatsoever. She reassured me that everything would be perfect, she answered all my questions that I had regarding the menu and she was so sweet the entire time. My food came, and it was the best fajitas and the best chips and salsa I've literally ever had in my life. No joke, my husband my brother-in-law's and all of us love the food so much that we are going to order again today. I wanted to thank her personally because my order was perfect because of her. Made a reservation for 25 in the Patio room for a pre Christmas party. We met Ralph, the manager, and went over the set up of the room and the buffet one week before the party. The evening of the party 'Ralph met us and reviewed the times for the buffet and any last minute details. The server, Tiffany , made the party a success. Her attentive service was fabulous. She knew when a new guest arrived and immediately took their drink order, kept checking on the gurests for refills and kept refilling our guacamole and chips. The Buffet was beautifully presented and delicious. Tiffany kept chcking on us and cleared plates at appropriate times, served dessert promptly and was a welcoming and gracious server. The food was really, really good. I've eaten at several other El Torito's in different cities, but this location, the food seem to be fresher, moist and well seasoned than the other locations. I ordered the Carnitas and my friend ordered the Shrimp Enchiladas. We had Margarita's, and flan for dessert. The whole meal was awesome. And to top it off, we had an amazing waiter. His name was Pedro. Pedro was right on time, he was one of the rare waiter who didn't keep coming by asking how's everything when you had your mouth full of food, but sense the right moment to ask and suggest more drinks, and didn't mind getting me more avacado for my Carnitas. He didn't seem rushed, nor did he rush us, to hurry up to usher in the next diners. He treated us like friends, and truly enjoys his Job. I recently visited El Torito for dinner and had a wonderful experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The decor was festive and the music was upbeat, which added to the overall ambiance. The service was excellent - our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Speaking of the menu, there were so many delicious options to choose from! We started with the guacamole and chips, which were fresh and flavorful. For our entrees, I opted for the carne asada and my dining companion had the chicken enchiladas. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and bursting with bold, authentic flavors. To top it all off, we indulged in the churros for dessert. They were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated in cinnamon sugar - the perfect end to a fantastic meal. Our large group ate in one of the banquet rooms at El Torito Restaurant, 3133 E Garvey Ave N in West Covina, California on Saturday, July 18 (2026). We found the service, the food and the ambiance to be exceptional. Our group formed a buffet line and were supplied with a pre-chosen menu which included a variety of dishes that never seemed to run low ( thanks to our servers). We were very happy with these three main workers/servers assigned to our group named Gervacio, Ricardo and Salvador, because they were very attentive, efficient and courteous. They kept a constant check and refilled the needed dishes quickly, which allowed all to get their food in an expediate manner and then be able to sit down and eat around the tables while talking, sharing and comforting each other ( was just after a funeral service). El Torito in West Covina has truly become a staple in our weekly routine. We go every Sunday for brunch, and it never disappoints. The food quality is consistently excellent -- fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. From the made-to-order items like omelette and pancakes (the best pancakes!) to the classic favorites like enchiladas, tamales, tacos, pozole, and everything is well-seasoned and delicious! The service is just as impressive. The staff is welcoming, attentive, and efficient, even during busy brunch hours. We always request to sit in Ricardo's area. They make you feel valued and taken care of, he makes sure our drinks are always topped off, which keeps us coming back week after week. It's rare to find a place that maintains such consistent quality in both food and service, but El Torito in West Covina does exactly that. man i love the flautas here. they are so delicious. and they have really good margaritas too. taco tuesdays also! sunday brunch is pretty cool with champagne. the price is pretty normal mexican cuisine sitdown but its pretty good. they have a nice menu too. the bar has good selection as far as a cantina goes. but the service sucks. the greeters and seaters are very nice but the waitresses and bartenders are rude and crude. avoid them at all costs. they just seem a little too annoyed all the time. we asked for an extra side of salsa and the waitress looked so bugged. geeeeeez lady. they have a cantina too with karaoke but the selection is questionable. especially when everyone is singing old 1980s slow jams or weird 80s electro house. i dont want to hear you singing and reminiscing about your high school days while im munching on my flautas and dos eques. i dont always drink beer, but when i do its going to be in silence or to good music. read more

El Torito is my go to fancy Mexican restaurant. I'm saying fancy bgecause it is not like your typical taco truck of hole in the wall joint. I decided to leave this review because today I was treated very nicely by the waitress. She was polite, always smiling and checking up on us to make sure that everything was okay. Her name is Vanessa. Their enchiladas are my favorite. Cheesy oowie(or however you spell that) gooey goodness. I also like the fact that they come and prepare the guacamole right in front of you. KIt is very entertaining. My absolute favorite thing from El Torito is: Drumroll please..... Their sweet corn cake!!!! Oh man I could eat a whole bucket of that stuff. My wife and I tried making it at home with a copycat recipe offline but it was just not the same! Definitely try it if you go there. The atmosphere had that perfect mix of lively and cozy -- great for both family dinners and date nights. The food was absolutely delicious! There was a little misunderstanding after waiting a few minutes for our table, 2 parties who arrived after ours got seated before us but that's okay it was a little hectic so it was an honest mistake no need to be upset at anybody for that but out of nowhere Maria T came to us shortly after and when we told her what had happened she sat us down very quickly and gave us without exaggeration some of the best service we've probably ever had eating here, our drinks were brought out quickly by her and she brought our food out in record time and made sure to check on us very frequently Maria T definitely made our evening here a 10/10 experience she was so amazing and kind and everything tasted amazing, looking forwards to my next visit here! read more

I had such a wonderful experience at El Torito thanks to Ramiro. From the very beginning, he made me feel welcomed with his friendly and respectful attitude. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and you can tell he genuinely cares about the people he serves. Ramiro was not only attentive but also very kind and lovable, which made the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. I was very disappointed in what I have experienced 10/22/13 in your restaurant. Manager on duty, Dolly Pagan, was very unprofessional and showed no concerns what so ever. We were accused of being thieves, instead of looking into the situation more to try to come up with a solution. We were verbally attackked and discriminated. We were also threatened by her stating that she will write down all our license plates and call the cops on us. She created a scene that was not necessary and delivered hurtful words that crossed the line. I am very disappointed in your manager Dolly Pagan. The drinks were very well made and actually nice and strong! I appreciate that because so many places serve drinks that taste watered down, and that definitely wasn't our experience here. The restaurant itself is really cute and has some great signs and backgrounds for pictures. We got some really nice group photos for our social media, and one of the employees even volunteered to take a picture for us so we could all be in it, which was really sweet. Even the girls' restroom was super cute and nicely decorated. You can tell they put thought into the little details throughout the place. Our waitress, Marissa, was wonderful from beginning to end. She was sweet, attentive and made sure we were taken care of throughout the night. The other employees we interacted with were also very friendly and helpful. I'm really happy our first experience here was such a good one. I would definitely come back for another girls' night, but I could also see myself coming back with my husband and kids for a family dinner. Definitely a place I would recommend.

There was plenty of parking in front of the restaurant as there are more parking spots than actual storefronts in this plaza. Overall, we would return again.
