But even after cleaning it out, the smell wasn't going away. Then the vent started giving off either smoke or steam, and in a panic I immediately turned off the dryer. Thank God I didn't start a dryer fire. The second I shut it off and made sure everything was ok, I opened Yelp and searched for a dryer vent cleaner. Chris's Insulation came up, he had great ratings, he was super close by, so after calling a different service and going to voicemail, I called Chris. Chris picked up after the second ring. When I told him that I needed someone to clean our dryer vent and what had happened, he said he could come out either between 5:00 and 6:00 pm that evening or the next day. It was already mid-afternoon when I called, so I was surprised to hear him say he could still come out same-day, but I decided to have him do that since I was free and also still a little shaky following what happened with the vent either smoking or steaming. Chris showed up during the window he quoted and wasted no time getting to work. He started the second he arrived and was done within the hour. His pricing was incredibly reasonable and fair and so far, in the couple of weeks since he was here, we've had no issues with the dryer. Before he left, he also sent us a ton of pictures of what the vent looked like post-cleaning. Super happy and relieved.

When Elmer came out, he took about 30 minutes to walk through the house and gave us a completely different--and much more reassuring--assessment. He identified entry points where rodents were getting into the crawl space, explained that the air ducts did not need to be replaced, and instead recommended insulating the rafters, reinsulating the attic floor, and cleaning and reinsulating the crawl space. He also suggested installing an attic fan to improve air circulation. Throughout the visit, he was straightforward, knowledgeable, and very approachable. We decided to move forward with the attic fan. Umar updated the contract promptly and even came out personally to help program the fan and connect it to my phone. Their team worked tirelessly over four days and did an excellent job. They were professional, detail-oriented, and left the house clean when they were done. A Good Overall Experience with Some Ups and Downs…read more We had been dealing with rodents in our attic for several months, so we decided to have the attic professionally cleaned. Our experience with Attic Pro was overall good, although the quality of service varied somewhat depending on the individual team member. Fortunately, we started the project with Assad, who did a very thorough inspection of our attic. He recommended not only cleaning it but also replacing the insulation, since it was very old, dirty, and heavily contaminated with rodent droppings. The initial quote was on the higher side, but Assad was able to offer us a discount. The project was completed in two phases. During the first phase, Osman's team removed the old insulation, set up traps, and did an excellent job sealing openings into the attic. They really went above and beyond, including closing several openings that we specifically pointed out and replacing some of the old mesh. Unfortunately, one of the rodents ended up getting trapped inside a wall and died, leaving us with an unpleasant smell behind a kitchen cabinet. I contacted Attic Pro several times about the issue, and each time they sent someone out to inspect the attic and help us address the problem. Their call center staff were also consistently courteous and responsive. In total, five rodents were caught. Whenever someone from the team came out, they would also inspect the attic and seal any additional openings they found with mesh. While a few of the individuals who came later were not as professional as Osman's team, they did complete the work properly and were patient throughout the process. They also waited more than a month before starting the second phase, giving us time to make sure there were no more signs or noises of rodents in the attic. Once we were satisfied, the new insulation was installed quickly, and Osman's team--Anthony and Roni--did a very good job. Overall, despite a few bumps along the way, we had a good experience with Attic Pro. The professionalism of some team members, particularly Assad and Osman's crew, really stood out. I would recommend them, while also noting that the experience can vary depending on the crew assigned to the job.

There has been this persistent smell of rodent urine in one of our closets for literally decades, no matter what we have done. Not any more! I could not recommend Rywen Insulation more highly for rodent control work. We've had rodent control people here before, but never at the level that Rywen takes things to. They put in place genuine long-term preventative measures to keep rats and mice out, not just patching holes. And that has made all the difference. No more smell in our under-the-stairs closet! And, I'm not sure if it is always a part of their service, but they offered us a one-year warranty. Rats and mice did return --- probably due to a contractor leaving our crawlspace door open overnight with the lights on, several times (oops). But Rywen took care of the problem immediately, no questions asked and no additional money requested, for the entire year of the warranty. They aren't cheap. But they are soooo worth it.

The communication was excellent, even on a holiday weekend I got called back within an hour of reaching out with questions, which I certainly did not expect! They arrived promptly for appointments and were thoughtful about avoiding tracking dirt into our home. They worked with us to customize their work to our coastal climate and were very transparent about exactly what materials they would be using (all top of the line, industral-grade!). I have pets and toddlers and they took my concerns about chemical disinfects seriously and offered several options to make sure I was comfortable with what was used in our home. They really seem to take pride in their work and enjoyed sharing before and after pictures to demonstrate all the improvements they made to our crawl space. Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Dzemail T. First, I would like to start with recommendations (if anyone needs any work on HVAC) to hire Element Home Solutions. Also, I would highly recommend to ask for Ernest for your estimate, and all questions that you might have. We decided to install new AC in our home. We called a few companies who came and gave us estimates. All who came to do estimates, walked around and inside the house, but they didn't spend more than fifteen minutes onsite to inform their project nuances and cost estimates. We called Element Home Solutions and we scheduled an estimate appointment. On appointment date, Ernest showed up and spent a good hour with us. He was the only one who measured the whole house, opened each vent and looked under the house where the old furnace was located. After he did calculations, he told us we have return vent undersized so we had to increase one vent as well. Estimate from Element Home Solutions was higher then estimate from other companies, but after we talked with Ernest we decided to hire Element Home Solutions. Day before installation, we received a phone call about our appointment. The next day crew show up and they started with preparation of the area where they will work and walk and they started with removing old furnace. Ernest also came and talked with crew, with us . Later Marvin came and he was the one who was doing all installations. After they finished their work, they cleaned everything. Marvin tested all to make sure that systems are working properly. The following day, we had another company came and tested quality of air in our house, so that also gave you a good peace of mind when you know that you and your loved ones are breathing clean air. Also very next day Ernest called and informed us that he will stop by to our home to check if everything is done right. When he arrived he checked and also he set up our thermostat. So, two days later we are very happy with quality of services that we received from Element Home Solutions. They installed for us a new AC, furnace and IQ Air Cleaner. Prompt, professional, knowledgable, and honest, Element Home Solutions did an excellent job replacing our old duct-work, moving all wall vents to the ceiling, installing a new furnace flue, and thoroughly cleaning our furnace unit. Element was not the only place we called for a quote, but they were the most professional and very fairly priced. Eduardo was amazing to work with. He came out to provide a thorough quote within 24 hours of our call, made multiple recommendations, and discussed options in detail without making me feel pressured to make a particular decision. He was able to start the job a few days later and seamlessly coordinated with an external company to remove the asbestos-covered portions of our heating system as well as worked with our kitchen contractors to coordinate the new location of vents according to the plans and placement of cabinets, etc. Plus, he went above and beyond on a couple of occasions to ensure the job was completed quickly and correctly: purchasing and installing extra wood braces - at no additional cost - in our attic where there weren't sufficient anchor points for new vents, and calling the asbestos company back out when they missed removal of materials. Although I may never be able to verify this, I think their work significantly increased the efficiency of our system between the cleaning, more efficient placement of ducts, and much more efficient ducts themselves: despite it being the middle of winter, with a kitchen torn apart, and gas prices skyrocketing, we've remained on track with previous years' bills (within reason). I feel like good service providers are just so hard to find nowadays. Let's take gas stations for an example - I remember when back in the old days I would sit in my car, get gas pumped for me and pay through my car's window. No hustle. Then the guy would wash my windows, check my fluids and test my tires air pressure - free of charge! For a long time I was under the impression that the old days will never come back, that a good FULL service is something I can't expect to receive anymore. Well, I was wrong. I interviewed a few contractors for my project, Element's guy was the most courteous and respectful. He was patient, listened to my needs, asked me the right questions and gave some really good recommendations. Unlike their competition he did not try pushing services or "deals" that I have to decide on the spot or it will be gone. I went with them because I felt comfortable and the price was within my budget. My project consisted of a furnace replacement and the gleaning of my attic. They did a great job being quick, clean and efficient. I felt comfortable enough to be able to go on with my busy daily schedule, not needing to micromanage, by knowing that they handle everything - and I mean everything - I just had to sign on the dotted line! I have been struggling to get these things done in my home for a while, I was afraid to get ripped off and get a half ass job done. I had some issues in my house with rodents, so I found Element Home Solutions on Yelp. I called Element and 2 other companies. But I was impressed far better with Element then with the other 2 companies. Ernest was the Project Manager that came to my house for the initial Estimate. He was extremely through with the process of how they'll be taking care of the issue. The other companies just came to take a look at my attic for less than a minute, gave a quote and just left. All 3 quotes were very close to each other. Element still were a bit cheaper. But I felt like going with Ernest and Element Home Solutions is the right choice not because of the price. And I'm very glad that I did. Absolutely everything went great. The crew of 5 guys that preformed the work were very hard working guys. They placed plastic covers all over my flooring from the front door to the attic access. They put some protective materials on my wall corners. And after they were done my house was all clean like they never even were here. They showed my photos of after removal of all the old insulation and dirt from my attic. And then the showed me the pictures after. My friend that he's a general contractor also went up to the attic to inspect the work and he said he never saw such a detailed job done by any other company. So I'm happy and confident that all was done right. I'll be calling them back to replace my central heating and cooling system soon. Just bought a place in Hayward. The house needed a lot of work. So I've been calling many different companies to get quotes on the work that needed to be done. It's amazing how many companies on Yelp with good reviews don't pick up the phone, don't call back, don't reply to Yelp messages or emails. Maybe 4-6 out I was able to get some kind of respond. I called Element to get an estimate to replace my very old furnace and ac. They were actually the only company out of all that did not fail on anything. They answered the phone right away. They gave me an appointment with a 2 hour window where the tech was on time and he also texted me 30 mins before his arrival. The price I was quoted did not change since the start to the end of the project. I can confidently say that absolutely everything from A to Z went great. My project manager was Ernest - very knowledgeable guy, definitely knows what he's doing. I was glad to find out that his company also do Asbestos Removal that I had on my old air ducts. That they were doing attic and crawl space insulation too. Eventually Ernest gave me a quote combining almost all of the work that I needed done for my house besides plumbing. After 47 years of reliable service, our trusty Sears heater recently broke down in the middle of winter. After considering bids from three highly-rated vendors, we selected Element Home Solutions to install a new Bryant heater and air conditioner at our home in Lafayette. Jerry took the time to explain the benefits and drawbacks of the different kinds of heaters available, and recommended an 80% efficiency heater for our particular situation to give us the best value for money with least amount of future maintenance headaches. Given that we'd been without heat for over a week, it was great that his crew of 5 men started as promised just two days after signing the contract. They showed up on time for three consecutive days, worked diligently, and cleaned up perfectly. Due to recent rains, and very limited space under the house, replacing all the half-century-old duct work in the crawl space was challenging, but the men stayed until 7:30pm on the final day to make sure the job was done right. The city inspection shortly afterwards went without a hitch and the house has been warm and cozy since they left. My house seemed unusually dusty this winter. I bought a new furnace filter, but it didn't help. And the furnace was running longer than it used to. One look in the crawlspace under the house and... it was a disaster. Nearly all the insulation was coming down from the rafters and the furnace was working overtime. I called Element Heating & Air in Oakland. They promised to retune and re-register the 17-year old furnace, clean out the heating ducts, clear out the crawlspace and install new compliant insulation under the whole house. Because I have asthma, they also installed a permanent high efficiency filter and a UV cleanser to reduce particulates, mold, spores and aerosols. These guys were remarkable. They showed up at 8 am as promised, did their work without much intrusion and completed the job within a few hours. The crew was efficient, thoroughgoing, friendly and polite. They cleared out the crawlspace installed the new batting and hauled everything away. Within an hour, air in the house was noticeably cleaner. And the furnace didn't run as long to heat it. We just had Element replace all our ducting, remove and replace the attic insulation, replace the air conditioner and also the furnace in a home we just purchased. They were incredibly responsive, knowledgeable and professional and did a terrific job. They also went above and beyond by fixing other things they saw because they had access. It has been super cold here in the bayarea and I turned on my heater to warm up. And of course it didn't turn on. My heater is about 30 years old and I have had issues with it a few times before. Over the years I have paid so much money to get it fixed. But I desperately needed to get it fixed. So I called the company that fixed it before and they never answered the phone! ! So I had to look elsewhere. I called maybe 4 companies and nobody was available until the end of December and even January!!! I then found Element heating and air who is really close to me and they were able to come check out my heater the next day. I think Marvin is the main technicians name, he was very very nice and patient with all the questions I had. The estimate they gave me to replace my heater was surprisingly reasonable. So I decided to replace it instead of paying over and over to get it fixed. They came to my home 3 days later to install it only took about 5ish hours. We had an excellent service experience with the Element Home Solutions folks. After reading positive reviews on Yelp, we had them come out to clean our furnace ducts. They arrived on time and were friendly and courteous. They recommended we do a more thorough servicing because we were well overdue, but they clearly explained why and what they would do, and it didn't feel like a "hard sell" -- they were credible and we decided to invest the extra money in the more extensive work. Then it turned out they needed a part for our furnace and they wouldn't be able to get it for a few days (they went to multiple stores to try and find it, so they really put in the effort). It would mean we would be without a furnace for a few days and they were super apologetic -- they even offered to go to Target and buy space heaters for us free of charge! (Fortunately, it doesn't get too cold in the Bay Area so I said they didn't need to). They then came exactly when they said they would once they got the part. Had my brand new A/C installed by Element Home Solutions two years ago. Almost towards end of August,2021, it got hot and turned the A/C on only to find hot air blowing and the outside fan not working. Next day i called Mr.Mac and he had the technician come out and check the unit. Very professionally he came and troubleshooted the problem and found out that simply one of the fuse was blown and nothing else. First, the heat pump brand was changed in the quote to one that we did not want (Carrier). We were replacing it due to leakage of carbon monoxide. This is obviously a safety concern for us, but also a peace of mind issue. We had discussed using Carrier at the site visit, but I was adamant to avoid it. Second, Brook mentioned that there was a manufacturer's recall on our existing 1-year old Mitsubishi heat pump (we have 2 zones with 2 separate units) and that we should pay him out of pocket to fix it. I was confused, because we received no information regarding a recall and typical costs associated with a recall are not paid by the customer. Furthermore, we hadn't experienced any issues and we're still within the warranty period from the manufacturer and installer. Brook said he had been processing a lot of recalls on units he installed and Mitsubishi was slow to send parts so it's easier to pay him directly for the repair. I contacted the original installer, who we had a very positive experience with initially, and they said there was no recall. I also looked online and couldn't find any information regarding a recall.

Unfortunately, instead of discussing different repair or replacement options, the conversation immediately shifted to a proposal to replace the outdoor unit and evaporator coil for nearly $12,000. My original goal was to explore whether replacing only the outdoor condenser was a viable option, but that was never meaningfully discussed. I also found the estimate to be at the very high end of the market for a single stage system. I paid a $60 diagnostic fee and was told that it would be credited toward the installation if I decided to move forward. However, the estimate I received did not reflect that credit or mention it anywhere. Overall, I left feeling that the visit was focused more on selling a replacement system than helping me find the most practical and cost effective solution.
