This is a nice little boba shop set in the middle of two power houses- snow monster and theloop. It most definitely outclasses its competition. I got the oolong tea with "golden boba" and my friend got the jasmine green milk tea with "golden boba." She is an avid tea drinker and had some complaints about how strong the tea was. If you like the strong "tea taste" then definitely check this place out. I'd recommend anyone to try this place at least once even if you prefer the sweetness of tea.This place is a little cramped so studying is out of the question here. The drinks are so inconsistent it is crazy! I am sure there is a formula, how hard is it to stick to that?? Lately it is so watery its like drinking regular tea with cream coloring... no cream, no powder taste. Nothing! $4 for this is not worth it. This Ding Tea location is simply THE BEST of all the Ding Tea around here and it's so good to read other reviews where people mentioned they truly follow the measurements and don't diluted their drinks like some other locations (Garden Grove is an example of a bad Ding Tea). I totally agreed, the drinks at this location are the best. And the staff is nicer as well. All the drinks I ordered always are so so good and satisfying. My top favorite is signature milk tea and their crystal boba seems to be better than other places too. For fruit tea, we usually get passion fruit green tea or peach black tea with no sugar. The worse ding tea I've gone to. I was craving it so I went here because it was the one closest to where I was at and it was about to close so I wouldn't have been able to make it to any other ding tea. I've been here before when it first opened and got the Hokkaido milk tea. I wasn't a big fan of it, but I figured I would give it another shot since all the other ding teas are sooo good. I really like the coffee milk tea here. It's super good. I haven't really found another boba places that sells coffee milk tea as good as this place. Service is good. The only sucky part about this location is that it's soo small that when it gets busy on the weekends, it gets very packed. I love this place, and would always stop here whenever I'm in the Bolsa/Westminister area. Their drinks are delicious, and you can ask them to adjust your sweetness level which is always a plus! My favorites are the milk tea (original) with their golden boba (sweeter than normal boba but also 100% better as well) and their lychee green tea with rainbow jelly (the rainbow jellies aren't super sweet but they add a nice chewy texture to the drink), I get both drinks half sweet. There are three bummers about this place though (you've been warned): 1. there is a $5 limit to use your card-I mean it's not as bad as other places but if you just want to drop by and buy one drink, bring cash. In fact, this isn't just a tip for Dingtea-if you're going to be in this area just BRING CASH PERIOD. Asian people don't like credit/debit cards :P 2. there's mostly likely going to be a line. One time my cousins and I came here on a Saturday night and they said it would take them 30 minutes to have our drinks ready. Granted someone did order like 10 drinks before us, but still... 3. It's SMALL. Don't expect to come here with a large group of friends and be able to find a table. It's a "grab and go" kind of place, and not super spacious at all. It's more long than wide, so most people just stand against the wall as they wait for their drinks. IMPORTANT: Don't toss your receipt! They actually ask to see it (last few times they actually took it back lol) before they hand over your drink. All in all, one of the better tea places in Westminister because their teas are actually really good. None of that overly sweet, powdered crap here, no sir. I'm always on the lookout for a new boba place but I always come back to Ding tea. Their drinks actually taste like tea. Most other boba places have drinks that taste more like juice and lack the green tea flavor, but not here. They're always super quick at making the drinks. My favorites are the lychee green tea and pineapple green tea (both with the golden boba). They're not watered down at all and are super refreshing. I will say I have tried the strawberry green tea and it was not my favorite. It tasted almost like watery green tea, but otherwise their other drinks are great! read more

I came here in the afternoon on a Sunday so it wasn't that crowded but most of the time this place has a long line out the door. However, it's just alright. I think the special thing about it is that it has yakult/yogurt drinks but that's about it. When I came I didn't specify which size I wanted so they gave me the large and I didn't realize until I was about to get my order. That was a bit frustrating. I'm surprise that this place overall rates only 3.5 stars. My first visit was today and I ordered the house milk tea with "crunchy boba". I guess it's a new thing now with this crunchy boba. My husband calls it crunchy rubber. It's actually interesting. I wasn't much of a fan at first, but now I'm starting to grow on it. One great thing about these crunchy Bobas is that they do not harden even after refrigeration. So this is a good alternative to the chewy texture of tapioca bobas. Ok. As for my drink I really enjoyed it. I finished it so quick it surprises me. The flavoring is on point, not overly sweet nor is it bland. I did not change the sweetness level and to me it was good enough. I don't eat sweets a lot and this was just right. I really enjoyed the tea fragrance in their house milk tea. It was a very pleasant aftertaste from every sip. The place is not too small nor roomy but it's decent. There are 2 tables with a booth for you to wait for your order. One thing that they don't have and that I'm used to at other boba places is food. They only serve drinks. Was in the mood for snacks but a little sad they didn't have any. One of my favorite local tea houses. I always get the usual here: signature milk tea + boba. Their tea is stronger in taste if you'd prefer the stronger tea. You could request of the level of sweetness such as with Less is 70% or Half is 50% or Slightly is 30%. Their milk and tea ratio is on point so it has that creamy taste along with the strong kick of tea. Not to mention that they have good customer service as well. Totally deserve 4 stars! Tried the black milk tea with regular boba with 50% sweetness. Tastes exactly like tapioca express, Lollicup and tebotebo. I don't really see what all the hypes about. I recommend the black milk tea at 99 Ranch Market for real tho. Oh and customer service, not the best. The guy at the cashier was rushing the heck out of me and pressured me to order an additional drink just to charge my credit card or else I would have to cancel my order altogether. I usually order brown sugar milk tea less sweet with pudding and it's pretty great. The last time I came here they ran out of black tea so I ordered the Hokkaido Oolong Milk Tea which is supposed to be like toffee. It kinda tasted like Kopiko coffee candy. The first time I came here it was pretty crowded. There were probably about 7 people before me but I got my drink within 10 minutes. Every single time I've come here after that they were slow at making my drink. At one point there was only one customer before me and it still took 10 minutes for me to get my drink. Overall, I wouldn't come back anymore because the service here is pretty bad. I'd rather just go to the new Ding Tea location in Garden Grove. read more

This review is mostly for the boba drinks than it is for the wait. Although I do have to be honest, the wait here for your drink is quite ridiculous which is probably why the star rating for DingTea is hovering around 3 1/2. Does it really take that long to make a drink? Can't they think of something to speed up production to combat high drink order demand? Anyways, this is the only place that I actually go to to buy a boba drink and no where else. When their boba is cooked and served right it's really good! No other boba place that I've been to has the same texture or taste. DingTeas boba is unique and it's golden! I'm not a big fan of their crystal boba, it's a strange crispy texture. Even though I like eating crispy things, in boba form it's odd. The other downside about this place is that when it gets crowded there is very limited seating. And sometimes due to lack of seating, sitting outside near the patio area can be quite sketchy, especially at night on weekdays. read more

Noticed that 2 star review said that a lot of other reviewers were first timers. Well, I just wanted to say that I don't review as often as I should. Most of the time I only do it when the service is exceptionally good or bad. Usually I just use yelp to bookmark locations lmao. I also work at a tea store in Irvine so I have first hand experience with taste, speed and customer service. Tbh this place was pretty good since it literally just opened for a day or two. We used their bogo grand opening deal for hokkaido milk tea and honey green tea. The menu is pretty standard for a tea place, however it didn't look like they have any food or snacks or anything. But maybe the menu will expand later on. The cashier was really nice and she pointed out that it had a slight coffee taste (which we didn't mind). This place is nice because it lets you adjust the sweetness and how much ice you want. The honey green tea was nice, it's very slightly sweetened which is the regular sweetness level (aka how they make it originally with no adjustment). I actually liked it because you could still taste the green tea, but if you wanted a sweeter drink you probably shouldn't opt for this one. The hokkaido milk tea was really good! Though they couldn't adjust the sweetness level for this one. It's a little too sweet for my liking, but when the ice melted a bit, it was perfect. We went around 11am on a Sunday morning. I guess I'm just used to speed since I work at a tea store which is busy from when it opens till when it closes. They took a bit of time getting our drink ready. It wasn't crazy slow or anything!! But it's too be expected especially since they just opened so just keep that in mind. Overall I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family. If I could, I would give them 0.5 stars just because of service. I don't yelp often at all but I had to write a review partially based on drinks and mainly focusing on their service. I got a Hokkaido milk tea and I've only had Hokkaido milk tea from boiling point and jazzcat but the Hokkaido milk tea here tastes very similar to coffee candy. ONTO THE SERVICE! So, it's unfortunate that I have to write this but I came in on November 21st, 2015 at ~9:40PM. Two female employees worked here and they apparently thought my friends and I didn't understand Vietnamese so what I was able to listen in on and translated from Vietnamese to English was: "these group of "people" go around and just make trouble. They probably don't have parents". This was my first time here and I absolutely won't come back simply because of service. What they decided to gossip about my friends and I were completely opposite of how we are and we ALL have very close knit loving families and parents. All in all, disrespectful customer service. I ordered the Taro Milk Tea. Taro is my favorite and every where I go it's what I order so I know my Taro milk tea. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! It's really good. It's actually the perfect sweetness for me. By that I mean it's sweet when I first sip it but then it smooths out and it's the perfect aftertaste. And it's mixed very well. I bought the small and kinda wished I ordered the large now. I was waiting for a friend to order and by the time she got her drink I was almost done. Now moving on to the Boba. I LOVE IT. I'm really particular about boba because let's face it it's my favorite part of milk tea. It makes or break it for me. The Boba is smaller so you don't get sick of it and it's well made. Some other places cook it weird so they clump together or is still uncooked on the inside. People who drink a lot know what I'm talking about. But ya. It's kinda addicting. I love it. The place is cozy but nicely decorated. I don't really sit for my milk tea anyways. Kinda like getting coffee. I get it to go so I don't mind that it's smaller. And I guess everyone is saying it already but the staff are really nice and welcoming. They say hi even when they were helping someone else and bye when you leave. All in all that's why I wrote a yelp review. I usually don't unless I really like a place. And this is definitely one of them. We came in on a Monday night at around 8 and it was completely empty. No biggie, it gave us time to look over the menu and Yelp ;). We got the kumquat lemon tea and lychee black tea. I was a little disappointed that the drinks barely had any ice in it. By the time we left the parking lot, all the ice had melted. For me, the drinks needed a little more sweetness; a touch of pulp from the fruit would be nice too. The good news is they've got a chart that illustrates the amount of ice/sweetness that you can get. The teas themselves were very clean and refreshing. My first encounter with this place was when my friend gave me the last bit of her matcha milk tea. Ice already watered down the drink at that point, but it was still really tasty. With that said, I gave Dingtea a shot. The location is pretty small but ideal if you're looking to sit and chat with a friend or two. I'd love to study here, but they don't offer wi-fi which is a huge bummer for me. At this point, I'm almost obsessed with their drinks and would spend all of my time here if they had wi-fi. On second thought, no wi-fi is probably beneficial on my wallet. I've tried the following: Signature milk tea -- a very well done classic, really creamy, perfectly sweetened and has a strong tea flavor Matcha milk tea -- also creamy and has a strong matcha flavor, the matcha powder is mixed very well so you don't get unpleasantly huge chunks of matcha in your straw. However, if you let it sit for awhile, the matcha powder will begin to settle. A little shake fixes this! Oolong milk tea -- I LOVE oolong so I may be a little impartial, but this drink has a wonderful balance of earthiness, creaminess and nuttiness (almost tastes like sesame??) Hokkaido milk tea -- it has a very distinctive flavor.. Coffee/butterscotch/caramel.. mixed with tea (??) The drink is velvety and just extremely smooth. There seems to be mixed reactions to this drink in the reviews, but I absolutely love it. Green tea yakult yogurt drink -- it's reminiscent of the yakult drink everyone had as a kid with a twist.. The green tea flavor is light, but it also cuts down the tanginess of the yakult. It's interesting and a good choice if you like yakult! There are other flavors as well. My friend also had the mocha coffee and said it was delicious. I didn't get to snag a sip, but she was very happy with it. The workers are nice, but quiet. The workers that have helped me don't seem to fluently speak English, but they make great drinks. I watched them make all of my drinks on the spot. They even topped off my drinks with more tea!! Unlike other places, they don't give you less tea if you ask for less (or no) ice. They just fill your cup up. Sweetness is also adjustable (except for the hokkaido milk tea.. they couldn't make it less sweet for some reason). Their boba is cooked and sweetened well. My only complaint is that they have the smaller balls and, well, I prefer the bigger balls :-) TL;DR -- Dingtea is my favorite tea spot and I love it and you should go and fall in love with it, too. read more

FINALLY, a good boba place in the OC. Going to 626 (city of boba) many times I would have to say that Ding Tea would definitely be comparable to AU79, Factory Tea Bar, and Half & Half. I usually order the Kumquat Lemon Iced Tea and Matcha Milk Tea there. Everything is well mixed and is not too sweet. If its not to my liking they would be gladly to adjust my drink for me. In regards to the boba their give the appropriate amount. I definitely enjoy the texture of the boba pearls it's not overly cooked and is super soft and sweet. The atmosphere at Ding Tea is very cozy and gives off a "laid-back" vibe to it. I like the rustic/naturey feel of how it's furnished. However seating can be limited so you're going to have to awkwardly stand there waiting for your drinks to be made. The menu there is very well organized and simple. Customer service is decent and somewhat professional I enjoy how they deliver my order to my work place which is in the same plaza there. Overall, decent price for there teas and definitely worth a try. Don't forget to ask for a stamp card. I'm sure you guys will be coming back again! read more

The worst part is that the coffee milk tea is disgusting. It's like they used black coffee and diluted it with powdered milk and water. The drink was bitter and left a nasty, sour aftertaste. I am actually a person who likes coffee, and I don't mind black coffee either. The stuff here is just plain nasty.
