I wasn't going to comment my experience on here but since I've seen all the reviews & the lack of professionalism from the staff, or should I say owner... I will not reserve my comments. For my family and myself, this was also a terrible experience. Looks like we were there around the same time frame (Christmas) as the rest of the recent reviews. They told us they had nothing on the menu and to reconsider eating there if that was an issue. I guess race is an issue for this family owned cafe. They clearly saw we were Latin and automatically gave us a face upon entering the location - we were being frowned upon, I still don't know why. I am Christian. They claim to be a Christian home they're far from a Christian home, they need lots of bible study & to recenter with the lord. To be Christian you must show love, compassion and equality towards all race, religion and humankind. If I could give this Resturant a -star I would. It's a shame because had it been the first Resturant we visited it would have set the tone, but thankfully every Resturant we visited before hand was extremely welcoming. I don't recommend this resturant & rest assured I will make sure no one I know visits it. I really hope you find it within to be a little more empathetic towards humanity. Do not push patrons out by saying you're out of everything just so they leave. Luckily we decided to record the waitress and how rude she was. I really should have forwarded it to all the news stations but your negative energy was not going to over power the joy in mine and my families heart. God Bless! read more

I am sending my review because of a very unfair review by Jackie from Florida. I have been eating here since the cafe opened. I have had a vacation home here for many years and have moved down full time in retirement. My first visit was because of reviews on this site. Besides the great reviews about the food, the specifically mentioned the owner, Elvira. We when we arrived we kept trying to find this person. Like every visit since, food was great and staff amazing. I know several by name. But we were unsure who the owner was. This was near the end of their season and the menu had several items they were trying. When we were finishing a lady came over and apologized for disturbing us, but said she was Elvira the owner. She said she had been wanting to talk to us all night but we were in such a concentrated conversation she did not want to disturb. (Does this sound rude?). We told,here we had travelled all over the world, eating food from many continents and her food was the freshest and had he most unique flavors we had experienced. This started a true friendship. Elvira will sit down with anyone and talk with them. Look on Facebook and see the support this woman and her staff have. You will not go wrong eating here! read more

Elvira's Cafe is a local gem! Great owner, great employees & GREAT food! This is a locally owned, family restaurant with Christian values. That said, I must comment on a person who wrote a review earlier this month. Elvira would NEVER say it, but I tend to speak my mind when someone slams a friend. This person came into the restaurant a few weeks ago with a group of people who were obviously wanting to celebrate "something". As I said, this is a family restaurant, that does NOT serve alcohol at all & does not allow it bout in. This group came in with liquor even after being asked not to & proceeded to act like the rules didn't pertain to them. When they were asked to leave, they pulled the race card. All I will say is this. If you want good food, served by good people & support the locals, then Elvira's is the place. If you want to party & act a fool, go somewhere else, that allows that type of behavior. Your kind,(rude) in MY opinion, are not welcome here in our peaceful little valley! read more

We found this incredible place in Wears Valley TN, not too far from Dollywood called Elvira's cafe. It was one of the most enjoyable places I've been to in a long time. My husband always teases me that I hate everything, and we used to live in Northern Virginia so we ate out often. But this place really is that hidden spot you're always on the lookout for. I ordered a ruben and it was outstanding. Usually they're very greasy, but it wasn't at all and my husband had a chicken salad that was especially fresh and made like grandma used to. I had pickled beets and the hubby had sweet potato fries. The fries were crispy and the beets weren't overpowered by the seasoning. Our waiter Alex was very welcoming and knowledgeable. The rudest cafe I have been to in my life. I have never experienced a place so racist against people from Miami. One of my family members had innocently asked the waiter "Have you ever been to Miami?" And his disgusting response was "Does it look like I'm stupid to you?" And we stayed in shock. Never have we ever heard that come out from anyone's mouth. Miami is a fun place and very welcoming to anyone who comes to visit we never treat anyone any different. The worse experience ever I will make sure to always tell anyone from Miami who plans on visiting Tennessee to never ever step a foot in this cafe. They claim to be a Christian cafe and I am Christian myself and you shouldn't treat anyone with the disgusting disrespect that we were treated with. So sad on their part. read more

My Home Away from Home! We own a cabin in the Wears Valley area and visit about 5 times per year. One of the things I most look forward to, is eating breakfast at Elvira's everyday! That cafe is warm, friendly and serves fantastic food! Elvira is a superstar. She stops to chat with the guests and helps the tourists with their questions. She always give me great advice about the hiking trails. Her entire staff is sweet and attentive. I've never had a meal there that didn't wow me. And by the way, I am from Miami myself. The accusations about racism are completely unfounded. I think that group just didn't like being told no. It's a wholesome, family restaurant where alcohol has no place. read more

The review from Jackie Q. sounds like its a revenge post. We have always been treated so very well by all the wait staff and Elvira. She greets all her customers with a warm hello and a hug and the people who work there are always polite and treat you like family. The food is farm fresh and made to order. Some of the best food you will ever eat. So please disregard the one negative post you see, because it's so not true and to accuse the owner of not being a Christian is a joke. You will find a retired Pastor working there and the folks from all the local churches stop for breakfast after service on Sundays. Shame on the lady that posted that review. read more

If you got a problem with this place then you obviously went expecting a problem and left trying to come up with some make believe farse. I've been here multiple times and never been treated rude my food was always on point and everyone ALWAYS had a big smile on their face. This is one of the best places to eat in the Smokies in my opinion!!! I have never eaten anything that wasn't delicious! We are always treated with such wonderful greetings! The staff and owner are the most wonderful people ever and we will always continue to go there every time we visit the smokies which is pretty often! We love everything about this restaurant and the people who work there! The food is alway fresh and Yummy! My favorite is the French Toast for breakfast!!! Extremely bad service I am flabbergasted as to the way the owners of Elvira's cafe have treated myself and my family with such hate and racism on our holiday vacation they insulted us for being from MIAMI. They wasted our time in taking all 37 of our orders we were told to escorted out the of the restaurant they barely had any food to choose from the menu. I guess if your from MIAMI beware and don't eat here! Elvira's Cafe serves great food in a charming setting, located in Wears Valley within sight of the Smoky Mountains National Park. The wait staff are professional and friendly. I have been dining at Elvira's since it opened several years ago and the food is consistently good and reasonably priced. The owner, Elvira, is charming and greets her guests as old, familiar friends. She remembers repeat customers, even visiting tourists, and often recalls their name. We found Elvira's several years ago and the restaurant has been our favorite place to go since then. We have taken many friends and have always found the restaurant friendly, great food and service, and have enjoyed our talks with Elvira and the staff. We feel like family! We were there on the the last Saturday of the year, and yes, several items were limited since they were closing during the winter months but that has happened at many chain restaurants for us, no big deal! I've known Elvira for probably 5 years and racist is the last thing her and her team are. Elvira herself is a first generation immigrant from Russia who has worked very hard to build a great business. They operate under family values and everyone in the area knows it. I sold food to Elvira with Gordon Food Service and I know that quality is very important to Elvira no matter who she is serving. I was born and raised in Miami and moved to NC 9 yrs ago. We discovered Elvira's while vacationing in TN and it immediately became my favorite place to eat. Been eating at Elvira's on a regular basis for a few years and her food and service are second to none. The staff is always friendly and constantly checks on our needs. This adorable cafe in Wear's Valley is our absolute favorite! The food is fresh and prepared perfectly! The atmosphere is like being at home, the staff is so friendly and nice! Had they stated they left it in the window too long and needed to make it fresh and we'd have to wait another 5-10, I'd be leaving a different review. We don't complain, that's why we didn't say anything at the time. We get things get busy and forgotten. Our food was definitely served cold so it was either intentionally left or forgotten. Either way, I don't ask for refunds for this reason. I share my experiences and let others decide how to vote with their wallets and choices. I'm not rude and demand to be refunded. I just don't function like that. Also no one ever asked if our food was good or we would've said something God Bless.

My family and I will never cross the threshold of this establishment again simply because Sawyers…read morerules are in fact NOT family friendly. I have an 18 month old son that fell asleep in the car ride on the way to Sawyer's. The rest of my family, 5 adults and 1 four year old went ahead inside. Our waitress informed us that sawyers has a "rule" that once we have ordered, my husband would not be able to even come to the table. Whatever I ordered for him would be packed in a to-go box but he couldn't eat it in the restaurant nor at the table. He'd have ti eat it outside. They were NOT busy. Maybe 10 families at best in the restaurant. I called my husband to tell him this ridiculous rule and he said no, I'll stay in the car and he won't eat breakfast and I insisted that wake our son up and he come inside. It wouldn't be fair to him. Meanwhile, the waitress asked her manager if they could make an exception but my husband was already walking in with my 18 month old. I told her if my son starts screaming because he's tired, not one employee by Sawyers better say anything about it. She said that wouldn't be a problem. I even told her that I know it's not her rule or her fault, but this is ridiculous for families to be subjected to this type of rule. The kids menu does not offer any type of waffle and my 4 year old had her heart set on a waffle. I told her they had m&m pancakes ($6.99) and she was sold on m&m's but not the pancakes. The waitress asked my daughter if she wanted a m&m waffle instead and she could get them to put the m&m's on top but they wouldn't be cooked inside the waffle. My 4 year old was so happy, she even gave the waitress a hug. Waitress was great. Fast forward to the bill, the waffle that the waitress offered my daughter... was $9.99+.99¢ for the m&m's. I didn't say a word about it, I was so aggravated at this point with Sawyer's, it wouldn't have done any good. And once again, the waitress is following the rules. Everyone at the table all said it was a mediocre breakfast at best and we all should have went to Mama's Farmhouse for breakfast instead. Sawyers, DO BETTER. You are an eating establishment in a family friendly tourist town. BE FAMILY FRIENDLY. The rule about not being able to allow my husband join us when my cranky baby is catching a quick nap? That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard and quite offensive considering we are paying customers regardless. Now, when people ask me where to go and where to avoid in Pigeon Forge, Sawyer's will be at the top of the list to avoid.
