We were pleasantly surprised by this place. While I did feel like it was a bit pricey, the food was excellent. The beat salad was gorgeous in it's presentation and quite delicious. We also had the meatballs which were very good but quite expensive for 4 small meatballs(not pictured). Then came the Rueben pizza which was also quirky and quite good. The food and Ambience at Ember are very good. As was the service. The issue comes with the fact they have now adopted the annoying practice of adding 3% to the bill for credit cards. I just don't understand this. Taking payment is a cost of doing business and 63% of people pay with a credit card. So raise your prices or give a discount for paying in cash, and please disclose the extra charge before the bill comes. Put it on the website, on the menu, somewhere. read more

First, the atmosphere is a little weird. I feel like it should be in Miami not St Simons Island. 2nd the pork belly is amazing! It was the best dish we had. The meatzilla pizza is good. On the weekends at least , you need a reservation. We sat in the lounge area and ordered food. The Brussels appetizer was delicious, cocktails were good. I got the green pizza, which basically has a whole arugula salad on top of a cheese pizza but it was really good to me. My husband really enjoyed the meaty pizza. read more

Tried Ember for the first time with my husband and sadly we were disappointed. We ordered bread, steak, a shrimp curry dish, and plantains as an appetizer. We did not like that the bread was covered with so much better. When we usually get bread at other restaurants butter is usually served on the side and not slathered on. My husband ordered is steak medium rare and it came out well done. The shrimp curry dish I ordered lacked flavor and the shrimp was over cooked making it have a rubber texture. It was not edible for me. The plantain appetizer was good, but nothing that stood out. On a positive note, the atmosphere and service are both excellent. read more

My friend and I passed by this place when grocery shopping and decided to give it a try. At first glance, I was skeptical. As the evening unfolded, it got better and better. Our server was incredibly warm and inviting and ready with a great explanation of the menu. She offers us suggestions for all of our courses and we readily accepted her advice. We ordered the lamb chop appetizer, shrimp appetizer and charred caesar salad for starters. Then my friend had the shrimp and I had the pork chop. We shared a bottle of pinot. The vegetarian fettuccine pasta is one of the best tasting meals I've had in Georgia! The pasta tasted really fresh, the sauce was flavorful, and the ingredients complimented each other perfectly--I especially loved the mushrooms. There were so many delicious looking meals on the menu, but I worry I won't try something new next year because I will be craving the pasta until I return. I know that I'll add a Caesar salad next time, though! My boyfriend let me taste his and I almost stole the whole thing from him. I generally love a Caesar salad, but this one was grilled and, like the pasta, had really fresh ingredients. On top of this, the service was great! Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us frequently. We ordered olives as a appetizer--they were warm, which was new for me but I loved it, and they had olive oil on them. At the end of the meal, they realized they'd made a mistake with the olives which hadn't affected how much we enjoyed them at all, and took the olives off of our bill and offered to give us more to go. My new favorite place on the island! Excellent ambience. The bar surface is lit to give an "ember" feel which is cool but it does make it a bit difficult to read the menu. I was meeting a friend after work and was first to arrive. Austin was extremely welcoming and made me feel at home while I waited. I had one of their house drinks which was a mule variation made with pecan infused bourbon with peach liqueur and peach bitters. Very nice! Everything on the menu sounded delish so we decided to split a few things. Baked Brie is served with a house made jam and a crispy on the outside, soft & chewy on the inside loaf of bread that is warmed in the traditional wood fired pizza oven. Followed by a lovely Caesar salad which is a grilled romaine heart topped with just the right amount of dressing and a generous amount of freshly grated Parmesan. A Foodie's paradise. Beautiful interior in an understated shopping center. Very eclectic menu and nothing disappoints. The chairs are so comfortable, the ambiance is fun and romantic. Our Server, Rhiannon, was so nice, helpful with choices and attentive to our needs. She saw that our candle went out and immediately replaced it without anybody mentioning it. Small detail, but it's an important detail to me. We ordered plates to share and hubby also ordered the NY Strip steak served with Gorgonzola mashed potatoes. Seriously the best most flavorful steak and combination we have had in years! My husband is really picky (he is a brilliant chef) about steak. This meat was medium rare and tasted like perfection! We were seated at 6:30 but the food didn't arrive until 7:50. We were beyond hungry at that point. Ok. So I read the reviews and decide to try this place. We go in and sit at the bar were We met the entire staff. Jason, Mary, I think Tiff and Debby from coastal real estate. Everyone was just so full of information and great recommendations. I just love these farm to table places that are popping up everywhere. We tried a bunch of stuff like the egg roll, tuna, duck wings, that's all just for starters. Oh yes, everything so far is good. The folks next to us ordered everything on the menu. They had the pork rind, rice, eggs, etc. We then ordered our entree which consisted of pizza, steak, bowl, OMG. So many things already. And again, everything was top notch. So, if your wondering were to eat and what to eat, this is the place for you. The menu changes everyday. That's what it's nice about farm to table. You just never know what your gonna get. What a fantastic restaurant! We came for my birthday (tired and over the fried seafood - we wanted something normal and healthy) and decided to come here. Service was impeccable (thanks, Mike!)...and food was on point (much better than I've had at restaurants in major metro's across the country). Decent collection of craft beer on tap, wine list is just as good. Trivia is Monday nights - which was so much fun! In the summers, if you go on Monday nights, know this and know they usually are reservation only. We'll be back next year for sure! read more
