Special order: prime rib dip with rye substituted for the roll and additional of provolone
    Teri M.

As a Henderson local, it's nice to know you have options when you didn't feed yourself until late at night. You can get breakfast, lunch, or dinner at any time of the day or night. I got myself a little corner table out of view from most people so I could have a little introverted solitary powwow with myself. My server was Cristina (sp?) and she was awesome. Nobody batted an eye or made me feel rushed at my inability to make a decision while famished and feeling out of sorts. I've had the chicken fried steak here before and it was quite good. This time, however, I was feeling sandwichy, and they were very accommodating to my special request to change the prime rib dip. I asked them to add provolone and swap out the hoagie roll for rye bread. They didn't question my cravings, they just delivered and that's a 10 out of 10 for me. The onion rings were only a .99 up charge for fries and they had a tender, light crunch and good flavor, not too greasy, and would recommend. As a black coffee drinker, I am happy to report it was decent diner coffee, just like you like it after hours, and I didn't have to add any cream. I miss going to 24hr east coast diners but this place is giving "I gotchu fam" and I'm here for it. I'll be back and when I do, it'll probably be after hours. This place is inside the casino, not far from the main entrance. Parking is free inside the well-lit garage, just make sure it's not a VIP parking spot.

Some sources suggest that the name may derive from a Latin word for "rival." They do rival other breakfast spots in very specific aspects. Emilia's Cafe is a nearly 24/7 spot in The Pass, a local Henderson casino on Water Street. We had received food comps from the casino within the past week (valid for 7 days) and decided to try the restaurant since it's the only breakfast option here. The service was okay. They warned us up front that there was only one server for today, so I was fine with the delays. However, a nearby table pointed out that they could've cross-trained other employees to take food orders. That's some food for thought. I also was confused that nobody came to settle our check until asking someone and learning that you had to walk to the register. What is this, a Cali Viet joint? That aside, I did appreciate that the employee who took our drink orders offered lemon with our water, and we were able to flag someone down later for to-go boxes. I was feeling carby today, and that craving earned me some surprisingly tasty and filling bites. I'm starting to think that Henderson secretly has a competitive Biscuits & Gravy ($5.99) scene after a nice experience not too far from here, and this version was delicious too. The biscuits were huge and fluffy, and the white gravy had plenty of sausage bits while not tasting too salty. I also picked up one buttermilk Pancake ($1.99), which was huge, surprisingly thick, crispy on the edges, and fluffy throughout. It's close to being flavorful enough on its own, but I enjoyed adding both the spreadable butter and regular syrup. Savory is not their forte, unfortunately. I tasted a Mushroom Swiss & Sausage omelette ($11.99), and there may not have been any salt added at all. The Swiss was nicely melted, but that's all it had going for it. The buttered wheat toast almost helped the eggs enough, and the hash browns were okay. It's nice that they provide all kinds of condiments on the table, but you gotta have a good baseline flavor profile. The Coffee ($3.49) wasn't too bad, and they even provided refills when you could flag someone down. They also have half n half singles in addition to the expected non-dairy creamer. If you're a Henderson local, then definitely stop by Emilia's to use food comps to load up on breakfast carbs. Don't drive across town, and don't go if you want a decent omelet. Maybe I'll end up trying other things if I have the incentive to return regularly.

This is the first time the Mrs & I stopped in for a meal here & I can guarantee we will be back. We went in for breakfast & were seated right away. The waitress was very friendly & we ordered their "Jackpot" breakfast. A standard breakfast of eggs, bacon, hash browns & toast. She had our meals on the table in matter of just a few minutes. We enjoyed the food & the quiet atmosphere of the clean dining area. But, we were very pleased with price! Only $5.99! And then they gave us a discount for my military service, bringing the price down even more! We will return to Emilia's! We really enjoyed our visit.

This hidden gem is amazing! Best shrimp scampi EVER! I've traveled to Italian several times and have loved the food! But this plate was better than a lot of the Italian food I've had! Quiet and cute atmosphere! The waiter was very friendly and provided great service. You must eat here! I will definitely be back!

If you read nothing else, read this: They have the best cream of mushroom soup that I have ever had! Maybe the best soup I have ever had. We had signed up for the Pass Casino rewards and each of us got $10 towards food at Emilia's. Two of our group had Oct birthdays so they got an extra $20. We were allowed to all use them as a group of seven, which we appreciated the way they made it easy. I had the pastrami Ruben sandwich and my wife ordered the Rib-eye. My sandwich was great. I was glad I ordered the tots. Her ribeye was very well prepared. She had a baked potato and some green beans and of course that amazing soup at the beginning of the meal. The service started great when the bust person offered up water, coffee and other drinks. When our waitress came over to take our order, she was great and friendly. I can't wait to come back.

Headed out to Emilia's for the first time to get some breakfast and was extremely impressed. It's located in Old Town Henderson on Water St. inside the Pass Casino. Restaurants are getting so expensive these days and yet Emilia's remains extremely reasonable compared to other diners/breakfast joints. We had the Corned Beef Hash, and Ham Steak breakfasts. (All come with Eggs/Hash Browns/Toast). The CBH was "canned style" but was crisped up and delicious and NOT greasy which was a welcome change from other places. (Nothing worse than ordering CBH and having it arrive soggy and served in a pool of grease - yuck!). Not here though - prob some of the best "OG" CBH we've had, to be honest. My bone-in ham steak was advertised as a full pound and it truly was a generous portion. I don't typically order this and please don't tell my mom (I'm Jewish and it would kill her) but I was happily surprised to note that it had both the delicious char taste and marks from the grill and more importantly, it WASN'T salty!!! My over-medium eggs were on point, and my daughter's scrambled were remarkably buttery and light. Those are definitely the "go-to" next time. I might order the hash browns a bit crispier next time but they were fine. Great, friendly service, and TRULY an excellent find. So why the 4-stars and not 5 you might ask? Well, I know it's not the restaurant's fault per se but if I'm being dead honest, the entire casino/restaurant reeked of smoke. Not the worst ever mind you and on the scale of 1-10 where being completely smokeless is a 1 and Frankie's Tiki Bar is a 10 (as in, smells like they haven't changed their air filter in 40 years), Emilia's and the Pass Casino come in at about a 4-5 in terms of ashtray ambiance. Definitely not the worst, but very noticeable if you're sensitive to such things. Will definitely be back though - overall, it was a great experience, and so nice to pay around $30 for breakfast for two (with drinks) when so many other places are in the $40-$50 range these days.

Old school diner in Henderson that is located inside the Pass Casino. Came here twice and love the old-school vibe. I like how they offer soup or salad with your meal and the prime rib is pretty enjoyable. This place is also open 24/7 so you can come anytime. It's a little hidden spot that I like to visit and enjoy if you love old-school diners. They also have pretty tasty deep-fried onion rings! But I do love how large the baked potato is. The soup is different daily so just ask the server and maybe try something new. But if you do come here get the prime rib and be sure you are hungry.

They offer a nice dining coupon for veterans, the atmosphere is very comfortable, staff is smiling & you can feel the happiness as you are greeted with a friendly smile. I ordered hot chicken wings, My son ordered the shrimp tacos special! I will be back a local fan scrumptious I dine here alone often in comfort, great caring staff! Ernie was a very nice server!

This place use to have the best burger, unfortunately within this past year, they decided to downgrade the size and quality of their meat. This change of meat has impacted various items on the menu including their Hawaiian Loco Moco meal. The menu has not been changed thus causing confusion as the picture shows the old larger full beef patty. I would not recommend an item that uses these sub-par meat patties. The loaded chili tots are amazing! Breakfast is great as well! Just don't order the loco moco! Service is still a 5 star!

When you open the door, the first thing you are greeted with is the pastry rack in front of you. I swear, I gained 10 lb. Just looking at it. So many amazing things to look at and see absolutely wonderful. Another thing I have to brag about is how friendly everyone is there. You walk in the door and you are greeted literally by everyone. Really makes you feel at home and invited in to experience everything that they have. I opted for the tiramisu latte, and it was fantastic! Definitely had a perfect coffee flavor, and the terramisu flavoring was not overly sweet but actually was perfect. I had the bacon breakfast croissant with egg and it was wonderful. Perfectly balanced, the flavors were there, and the bacon was excellent! This is definitely one we are going to add for our go-to breakfast places when in Vegas. Super excited to try everything on the menu! Bottom line? If you have not gone to horizon shine, you are missing out. Top of your must-go places and I swear you will not be disappointed! You will probably see me there again! If so, feel free to buy me a pastry.

We learned they also have a sister restaurant - Le Cafe du Sud in Southern Highlands. This is a counter service establishment - you get in line to order and pay and get our number and find a seat. There is a lot of menu items and ready made pastries so your eyes will have to move quickly to decide on your final order. There are plenty of seats indoors and out, so that shouldn't be too much of an issue. And water is self service as well. * Raclette Galette $15.99 - This gluten-free buckwheat crepe is served with raclette cheese, sunny side up egg, potatoes, bacon and ham. I love a buckwheat crepe and there's actually a place in town that I just love their version. At Le Cafe Du Val, they do prefer to cook theirs a little more on the softer side which I didn't realize. After a bite or two, I went and asked if this was typically how their galette is cooked. It was confirmed that yes, they do prefer it softer. They offered to remake mine which I initially declined but they insisted as they wanted me to be happy with it. So I agreed. I still found their version decent, but not exceptional. * Short Ribs Shakshouka $17.99 - This was on their Specials menu and was served with 7 pieces of baguette slices. It was good. * Melba Crepe $13.99 - It's a sweet crepe that's topped with poached peach, wild berry sauce, and whipped cream. It's simple and exactly as described. * Mini Lobster Rolls $18.99 - The lobster meat is mixed with celery, chives, and mayo and served on a butter toasted brioche buns. These are indeed mini rolls, so you may be hungry after eating them. Service - there really isn't too much to talk about as you order at the register and have minimal contact with the staff beyond them bringing the order to your table. I had to bring my plate to the staff member when I had the issue. I do appreciate their desire to fix my order though. Overall, Le Cafe du Val was just an okay experience for us. The food didn't stand out for us in the way that we hoped.

I found a space and only had about a two-minute walk to Public Works. The space is industrial but cozy, and I love the little community library in the red phone booth. That's such a cute touch and very on-brand for a neighborhood spot. It also turns into a wine bar at night. I ordered the iced matcha honey latte with almond milk. It was good, but definitely on the sweeter side. Almost milkshake-like. (Not frozen, just thicker and sweeter than a traditional matcha). I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for an earthy or classic matcha. The texture was a bit grainy with some settling at the bottom, and I did get a small clump in one sip. Not a big deal, just noticeable. If I had to guess, they use a pre-sweetened matcha powder. They don't advertise having pure or ceremonial matcha, so I'm not too pressed. Just sharing my experience. Service was quick and I got my drink within just a few minutes. There's plenty of indoor seating plus a spacious, dog-friendly patio. The vibe is very social and family-friendly, with lots of conversation, families, and groups. I personally wouldn't come here to study or work, but it seems like a great spot to meet with friends or family, or just a casual coffee run. I'd come back when I'm in the mood for something sweet. I remember visiting once but maybe or maybe not buying a drink, then just never returning since it was a bit out of the water. But I relocated to a closer Henderson neighborhood and started checking out some of the nearby casinos, and it just seemed like a good idea to stop by today... and take advantage of a casino partnership as well. I tried two drinks. The Cold Brew ($7.00, 24 oz) felt like a dark roast at first but expressed mostly fruity notes later on. It was certainly smooth and low in bitterness and acidity. I also wanted to try a latte since that tends to be where these cafes get the most creative. The Cuban Honey ($7.00, 16 oz) was the recommendation of the employee at the register, and it was simple and tasty enough. Milk, honey, and cinnamon are some very classic and comforting flavors, and they're beautifully balanced in this latte. I was also interested in trying a quiche ($5.95), so I did. They come as a compact "personal" size and apparently just get heated warm for you even if you're taking them to-go. The Florentine is definitely spinach-forward but also seems to have mushrooms and caramelized onions. The crust is suitable, the egg custard isn't the most amazing, and it leans a bit salty overall, but it's an enjoyable food option. I probably blew past the parking lot which I'm vaguely aware of, but that's because parking was actually available on the street. Some spots were marked for 12 min only, but there were plenty of open unmarked spots a few yards up. The place was almost empty around Saturday lunch too. I have no idea why since it seemed quiet enough for a study or work spot. Public Works has filled a coffee-seeking niche in this area of Henderson for a long time, and hopefully they'll do so for years to come. If you play at Emerald Island or Rainbow Club, ask the casino about using points here since it's as good as money.

The almond toast was also disappointing, with large chunks of sea salt that made it overwhelmingly salty. Overall, First Watch felt overpriced for the quality we received. But I have been here three times and every time I have tried to order, it took SO DAMN LONG to get my coffee, that I just can't in good faith, leave a 5 star review. Every time I have gone in, there's one person doing everything, taking the orders, making food and making coffees. That's certainly not fair to your staff for one, who probably don't make much money and it's STRESSFUL when you're working as fast as you can, but people are waiting who haven't had their coffee. I spent 25 minutes waiting the first time and almost 40 minutes the second time (40 minutes!!!) and the last time I walked in, saw a packed cafe and NO ONE had coffee in front of them - so I just walked out. The coffee was just okay too, it wasn't hot enough the second time I went and my friends coffee had the wrong milk in it and she couldn't drink it. You can be 2 of these things to be successful: if your coffee is expensive, you need fast service and delicious coffee. You can have slow service, but it needs to be well priced and tasty. But you CANNOT have high prices, mediocre coffee AND slow service. This explains the 'give us a 5* review and show us' trick they need to do, because otherwise people like myself aren't going to go back. There are so many other great coffee places around - if you're in a rush don't go here. The atomosphere is too quiet too, you can hear everyones conversation if anyone is having a conversation. There's no music/background lofi on or anything and it's a TINY cafe. It's a little uncomfortable actually, although it does look beautiful and whimsical and cute. I can't speak on the food, I never got to try and and based on my previous experiences - I won't be either.
