Emilia's Café inside The Pass has become one of our regular stops on Water Street. Between the weekly food credit and the good old-fashioned diner food, it's hard to beat. The food is always solid...great breakfasts, comfort food, and portions that definitely don't leave you hungry. It's the kind of place where you finish eating and immediately start thinking about what you'll order next time. Salmon dinner is one of my favs. And oh yeah, the prime rib :) One thing we really appreciate is the weekly food credit they offer. It's a fun little perk that keeps locals coming back, and honestly it's one of the reasons we discovered this place in the first place. Once we tried the food though, we realized we'd probably keep coming back even without the credit. But the real highlight here is the staff. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, and it has that relaxed neighborhood feel where people actually seem happy to see you. A special shout-out to Gary, who somehow seems to be there almost every time we visit (which is pretty often). Gary always keeps things fun, makes us laugh, and gives great service while somehow keeping everything running smoothly. He's one of those people who just makes the whole experience better. Let's just say Gary deserves a raise... or at least hazard pay for dealing with us regulars. Great food, great staff, and a fun local vibe. Everything was excellent - Cheesesteak roll was really good and the overall flavor was spot on coleslaw was average but not bad. As a Henderson local, it's nice to know you have options when you didn't feed yourself until late at night. You can get breakfast, lunch, or dinner at any time of the day or night. I got myself a little corner table out of view from most people so I could have a little introverted solitary powwow with myself. My server was Cristina (sp?) and she was awesome. Nobody batted an eye or made me feel rushed at my inability to make a decision while famished and feeling out of sorts. I've had the chicken fried steak here before and it was quite good. This time, however, I was feeling sandwichy, and they were very accommodating to my special request to change the prime rib dip. I asked them to add provolone and swap out the hoagie roll for rye bread. They didn't question my cravings, they just delivered and that's a 10 out of 10 for me. The onion rings were only a .99 up charge for fries and they had a tender, light crunch and good flavor, not too greasy, and would recommend. As a black coffee drinker, I am happy to report it was decent diner coffee, just like you like it after hours, and I didn't have to add any cream. I miss going to 24hr east coast diners but this place is giving "I gotchu fam" and I'm here for it. I'll be back and when I do, it'll probably be after hours. Some sources suggest that the name may derive from a Latin word for "rival." They do rival other breakfast spots in very specific aspects. Emilia's Cafe is a nearly 24/7 spot in The Pass, a local Henderson casino on Water Street. We had received food comps from the casino within the past week (valid for 7 days) and decided to try the restaurant since it's the only breakfast option here. The service was okay. They warned us up front that there was only one server for today, so I was fine with the delays. However, a nearby table pointed out that they could've cross-trained other employees to take food orders. That's some food for thought. I also was confused that nobody came to settle our check until asking someone and learning that you had to walk to the register. What is this, a Cali Viet joint? That aside, I did appreciate that the employee who took our drink orders offered lemon with our water, and we were able to flag someone down later for to-go boxes. I was feeling carby today, and that craving earned me some surprisingly tasty and filling bites. I'm starting to think that Henderson secretly has a competitive Biscuits & Gravy ($5.99) scene after a nice experience not too far from here, and this version was delicious too. The biscuits were huge and fluffy, and the white gravy had plenty of sausage bits while not tasting too salty. I also picked up one buttermilk Pancake ($1.99), which was huge, surprisingly thick, crispy on the edges, and fluffy throughout. It's close to being flavorful enough on its own, but I enjoyed adding both the spreadable butter and regular syrup. Savory is not their forte, unfortunately. I tasted a Mushroom Swiss & Sausage omelette ($11.99), and there may not have been any salt added at all. The Swiss was nicely melted, but that's all it had going for it. The buttered wheat toast almost helped the eggs enough, and the hash browns were okay. It's nice that they provide all kinds of condiments on the table, but you gotta have a good baseline flavor profile. The Coffee ($3.49) wasn't too bad, and they even provided refills when you could flag someone down. They also have half n half singles in addition to the expected non-dairy creamer. If you're a Henderson local, then definitely stop by Emilia's to use food comps to load up on breakfast carbs. Don't drive across town, and don't go if you want a decent omelet. Maybe I'll end up trying other things if I have the incentive to return regularly. read more

This is the first time the Mrs & I stopped in for a meal here & I can guarantee we will be back. We went in for breakfast & were seated right away. The waitress was very friendly & we ordered their "Jackpot" breakfast. A standard breakfast of eggs, bacon, hash browns & toast. She had our meals on the table in matter of just a few minutes. We enjoyed the food & the quiet atmosphere of the clean dining area. But, we were very pleased with price! Only $5.99! So.... this is a review for the prime rib specifically. The eternal search for that one of a kind prime rib special in Vegas is a sacred thing. Not only do you want to find the tastiest most tender prime rib, but you want to find it at a great value as well. In any other U.S. city you'd be happy to find a single place that served prime rib. But Vegas is the city of prime rib specials, which means finding the holy grail is always the goal. As a visitor to Vegas, my go to was always Ellis Island for this iconic slab of meat at cheap eats prices. Served in a diner setting, always with a very basic, but refreshing house salad with blue cheese. It was just solid every time. Upon moving to Henderson, the search shifted to this Vegas suburb, as I longed to find something as special closer to home. I did discover the buffet at South Pointe, which admittedly wasn't closer to home, but was off the strip and a secret mostly locals only knew about. The prime rib here was really good, but then the next time I went it was so oddly orange, it became off putting and I had to cross it off my list. After 15 minutes on my plate it actually turned into a powdery texture -- no joke! I started imagining how many chemicals were in it and it killed my appetite from wanting to ever go back. Then I came across Emilia's on Yelp and apparently they had a $9.99 prime rib special. It was close to the house so why not check it out? Ends up that special was canceled years ago, Emilia's closed at 3pm but the Italian restaurant next door served items off Emilia's menu including the prime rib! Well this prime rib was so tender and juicy I exclaimed this was my new go to spot for prime rib and that would never go back to Ellis island! Fast forward a few months later, I've been telling my family about this place and finally we found a time and occasion to go. Only they didn't serve it at the Italian restaurant anymore. They only served it at Emilia's and now they were open 24/7 now too (prime rib only after lunch). So I packed up the family and headed to Emilia's at the Pass Casino in Water Street District. I ordered the thickest cut and asked for rare, assuming their rare would actually be medium rare. However they told me they only had medium rare not rare, so as expected... it came out to the table medium. Let's just say this was not the tender juicy prime rib I had raved about from the Italian restaurant next door. Instead it was dry and absolutely needed the au jus to put it down. The cap meat was well marbled and tender, and sort of made up for the 3/4 that was dry. But not enough for me to ultimately not be disappointed in that it wasn't we good as the first time I had been there. That's something I've noticed with spots in Vegas. Great the first time, not so much the next time. Consistency issues. Maybe the key is to get there earlier, right at the start of dinner menu. But I can't lie, I was pretty disappointed of what I got compared to the first time. Let's hope they address that... they only get 2 strikes with me not 3. read more

Food was sub par and we were given the bill way before we got our food. It's was very cold inside and for the price does not match the amount of food that you get. I had the prime rib dip which barely had any meat on it my son also had the same and his came out 10 minutes after ours. I was told that the Ruben was also not that great and also had very little meat for the price. A party of seven five of us were very unhappy. They really don't care if you were satisfied or unsatisfied with anything. The price of the bill which consisted of five sandwiches 7 drinks one ham steak breakfast and the open face turkey which had toasted bread for some strange reason. This hidden gem is amazing! Best shrimp scampi EVER! I've traveled to Italian several times and have loved the food! But this plate was better than a lot of the Italian food I've had! I really hate to leave a bad review but this place was unbelievable. I went there for dinner and I waited 10 minutes for somebody to show up at the hostess stand. She sat me and I waited another 5 minutes before somebody even came to the table. The server was very nice. The menu says they offered domestic and imported beers and I asked her what kind. She looked like a deer in headlights and named off a couple. I asked her if there was a list and she said no. And she didn't know all the beers they offered. As I was sitting there, I can see the hostess stand. It looked like two of her friends walked by and the hostess did a shimmy shake thing, not quite a twerk, but still very unprofessional. I ordered the pork chops and apples dinner and it was very good. I don't know what to say, seems like nobody cares about their job. read more

If you read nothing else, read this: They have the best cream of mushroom soup that I have ever had! Maybe the best soup I have ever had. We had signed up for the Pass Casino rewards and each of us got $10 towards food at Emilia's. Two of our group had Oct birthdays so they got an extra $20. We were allowed to all use them as a group of seven, which we appreciated the way they made it easy. I had the pastrami Ruben sandwich and my wife ordered the Rib-eye. My sandwich was great. I was glad I ordered the tots. Her ribeye was very well prepared. She had a baked potato and some green beans and of course that amazing soup at the beginning of the meal. The service started great when the bust person offered up water, coffee and other drinks. When our waitress came over to take our order, she was great and friendly. Headed out to Emilia's for the first time to get some breakfast and was extremely impressed. It's located in Old Town Henderson on Water St. inside the Pass Casino. Restaurants are getting so expensive these days and yet Emilia's remains extremely reasonable compared to other diners/breakfast joints. We had the Corned Beef Hash, and Ham Steak breakfasts. (All come with Eggs/Hash Browns/Toast). The CBH was "canned style" but was crisped up and delicious and NOT greasy which was a welcome change from other places. (Nothing worse than ordering CBH and having it arrive soggy and served in a pool of grease - yuck!). Not here though - prob some of the best "OG" CBH we've had, to be honest. My bone-in ham steak was advertised as a full pound and it truly was a generous portion. I don't typically order this and please don't tell my mom (I'm Jewish and it would kill her) but I was happily surprised to note that it had both the delicious char taste and marks from the grill and more importantly, it WASN'T salty!!! My over-medium eggs were on point, and my daughter's scrambled were remarkably buttery and light. Those are definitely the "go-to" next time. I might order the hash browns a bit crispier next time but they were fine. Great, friendly service, and TRULY an excellent find. So why the 4-stars and not 5 you might ask? Well, I know it's not the restaurant's fault per se but if I'm being dead honest, the entire casino/restaurant reeked of smoke. Not the worst ever mind you and on the scale of 1-10 where being completely smokeless is a 1 and Frankie's Tiki Bar is a 10 (as in, smells like they haven't changed their air filter in 40 years), Emilia's and the Pass Casino come in at about a 4-5 in terms of ashtray ambiance. Definitely not the worst, but very noticeable if you're sensitive to such things. Will definitely be back though - overall, it was a great experience, and so nice to pay around $30 for breakfast for two (with drinks) when so many other places are in the $40-$50 range these days. read more

I like how they offer soup or salad with your meal and the prime rib is pretty enjoyable. This place is also open 24/7 so you can come anytime. It's a little hidden spot that I like to visit and enjoy if you love old-school diners. They also have pretty tasty deep-fried onion rings! But I do love how large the baked potato is. This place use to have the best burger, unfortunately within this past year, they decided to downgrade the size and quality of their meat. This change of meat has impacted various items on the menu including their Hawaiian Loco Moco meal. The menu has not been changed thus causing confusion as the picture shows the old larger full beef patty. I would not recommend an item that uses these sub-par meat patties. I ate here early in the morning after a late night of gambling. It didn't have that much good on the menu. This isn't a vegetarian friendly place. Best options are offered at breakfast. The food is okay but it's overpriced. Best thing was the orange juice. It's $3.50 for a glass. There's no free refills. Bagels are about the only breakfast item without meat. It's $3 for a pretty typical one. This comes with cream cheese or jelly packets. It was okay for a hangover. This doesn't make for a good meal. Also the service is slow even if they aren't busy. It's like they get surprised when there's customers. The meat eaters here seem to like the brisket but like everything else this is overpriced and portions are a joke so don't expect much and it won't suck as much then. read more

Came to this wonderful place this evening. I was greeted with friendly staff who helped me select my pizza. I ordered a Sicilian cut "who's your papa" gourmet pizza with banana peppers. All the ingredients are fresh. I was amazed watching the owner create this delicious meal. For dessert I will have the tiramisu which is only made Friday-Sunday. My new go to place for quality pizza. The server had short hair and glasses and talks broken English. I ordered the Grilled Double Cheese with Fries and a Coke. The waiting took forever and the server spent more time chatting with others, swiping the counter and disappearing then checking on the food. Finally, she brings my order in a take out container and says the wait was long because they made it like Take Out Shouldn't that make it faster? Anyway, I bite into the sandwich and had to spit it out. The white cheese was like rubber. I was going to complain but the server had disappeared again. I ate the Fries and was debating on Desert. She came back and I described what I wanted but had forgotten the title so she brings me the menu and as I am turning the page, she's gone again. Another server came by so I asked to speak to a Manager. She took the sandwich and showed it to someone and they didn't charge me but charged for the Desert, instead. (Sorry if Desert is spelled wrong). What really bothered me is as soon as the other lady helped me, my server came up and stated "You should have come to me." I didn't want to get into it with her and just shrugged and said "It's okay. She helped me." But, the stupid lady came back and said it again, before finally leaving..all annoyed. I did leave some change as a Tip because I didn't want a scene. The girl at the check out said they have had problems with this employee before. Really cheap, probably the most inexpensive breakfast around. You get a very nice portion with 3 eggs, choice of meat and hash browns for 7.99, its the Jackpot Breakfast and I know that if you go during the week super early the same breakfast is like 4.99, its a great deal and very tasty and no waiting. This place is open 24 hours which when I saw that I should have guessed it was inside a casino. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette with hash browns and wheat toast. The coffee was actually really good... the food did not come close to meeting quality. The hash browns were undercooked and greasy like butter made the hash browns soggy and gross. The omelette was ok, but had way too much cheese and barely any ham. The service was slow... waiter did try his best but the restaurant was not busy at all. I heard another couple near me that their order was burnt and wanted a redo. I had to wait up front for 15 min to pay my check... so to say the least... I won't eat here again. This is a small cafe in the Pass casino. I came here Monday around 1pm, and got seated right away. If you are a Veteran, make sure to stop at the Players club and mention it. They have a generous discount program for veterans. Thank you for supporting our veterans in the community. We tried Bagel with lox and steak nachos. The food came out fast, and the portions were generous. For nachos, they use their chili. It was good and would have fed a family of four. Nothing fancy here. This is a place you want to stick with the diner staples. I would come here every week if I lived closer. This place has $3.99 breakfast special, you cannot find it any where. It wasn't greasy nor burnt nor undercooked. Everything came out Just Right! At 7:45am on a Friday (12/31), this place had a handful of folks there but was not busy by any means. The cafe looks like it was recently given a full renovation / face lift. It's airy and bright and welcoming. I like the decor and color schemes. It's fresh. Service was very good and quick. We will definitely be back when the hubs needs to put more money on his betting app. Side note: The casino was not dark and smoky like I expected an older casino to be. My first visit to Emilia's Cafe inside the Pass Casino. We both ordered the Water Street Classic burger which is a half pound burger. On my first bite I knew this was a quality burger with a flamed broiled taste. After praising the burger, I learned Emilias uses only fresh never frozen beef. After waiting 15-20 minutes for a table, reasonable for 6:15 on a Saturday evening, waitress promptly greeted us and returned with our beverages and a dinner salad. Then it took in excess of 45-minutes and close to an hour to receive our orders of a Club Sandwich and a French Onion Salisbury Steak. No special requests. How long would it have taken if extra mayonnaise would have been requested on the sandwich? To add insult our meals were brought out on the same large tray with meals ordered by a table of 4 that was seated 20-25 after the same waitress had taken our order. My husband and I went to Emilia Cafe on a Monday evening. The place was pretty quiet, 20% capacity. The soup and the salad were very good. For the main dish we choose salmon with veggies it was good. The smoked brisket my husband got was amazingly delicious. From now on our choice will be always brisket at this restaurant. The place is nice, the entire casino got a major renovation recently. We got there at 830. Placed our order at 8:35. At 8:50 watched the server bring food to another table that arrived after us. At 9:05 it was evident that the two cooks havent even started our order.
