The service was very attentive, the food- the baked potato and beans were my favorite. I had the combo plate which had ribs, chicken and tri tip on it, the ribs were super tender, the tri tip was well done 3 small end pieces, and the chicken was cooked with a paprika seasoning salt. The meats all seemed to void of any smoky flavor, seasoned with a very salty rub. I've been to parties where the tri tip served was smoky and perfectly cooked. Not on this visit. My 3rd and most recent bbq experience in Napa, Red Rock Cafe is a very cute little shop on the street corner - parking can be difficult, and I was lucky to snag the last spot in the lot out front. The other two people in my party had to park further down the street. It's well decorated and homey inside, with multiple small tables that make for a tight squeeze for larger parties. The menu is quite extensive, and includes salads, soups, fish and more beyond bbq, which was a surprise to me. It was quite busy on a Friday night around 7pm, and almost every table was seated. Service was super friendly, and checked in with us often. I got the ribs, which comes with two sides and a dish of bbq sauce - these ribs were great, not fall off the bone but still tender and juicy, which is what I prefer! I got the cole-slaw which was perfectly crisp and refreshing without being too heavy on the mayo as some can be; and the potato salad was also pretty good. I tried some of my friend's beans - not too memorable, and mac and cheese - which mostly tasted like buttered noodles - not bad but don't expect a super cheesy mac! For the price, Red Rock Cafe is a great deal, excellent service and ambiance, and delicious ribs! I'll definitely be back. read more

So not much in the way of ambience, but the service was good and the food was very tasty and the leftovers were great the next day and they give you good size portions. This is a reliable Napa restaurant, well out of the touristy areas, and frequented mainly by locals. It is more reasonably priced than most restaurants in Napa. Everything that I have had here is "pretty good". You will not leave saying that it was the best meal you have ever had, but you will enjoy the food - it's always "pretty good". That, combined with the "reasonable" prices (for Napa) keeps people coming back. Plus, it's been here for a very long time, and the staff is always friendly. They have a good number of regulars. Their bbq is good. My dad likes the ribs, their sides and burgers and sandwiches are fine, and their pie, when they have it, is also good. Their salads are quite good, and they offer a make-your-own option which I like. Portions are large, so 2 people can share a salad and one main course, and both will have more than enough food. If Yelp allowed me to give a half star, I would have given this 3.5 stars. Since I can't, I felt the restaurant deserves to be rounded up to 4 stars rather than down. The space is "cozy" (meaning small). They have tables, and about 7-8 seats at a small bar. The parking lot is small and tight but, if it's full, one can always find a spot on the street. BBQ is probably my favorite choice when I get to choose Sunday lunch. Problem is there aren't a lot of options around here. On a Yelp search I ended up in Napa at the Red Rock Cafe. I can attest the neighborhood cafe lives on in the RRC! (Support your local spots!). I could tell this place had lots of locals, as we were the only tourist like visitors there. Here are my favorite dishes: Pulled Pork Sandwich: I don't normally order pull pork, but my girl did. Oh my, this was a winner. The pork was so tender with just enough Smokey goodness for you to keep wanting more (I kept sneaking bites of pork). The sauce was not too sweet but added moisture and tang. The Dutch Crunch bread was an interesting choice of roll but adds nice crunch to the bread. The side of cole slaw was delicious as well. I just wanted to stuff it into the sandwich. The sandwich is ginormous so it can be shared, but why???? Tri-tip Sandwich with au jus: Thick stack of thinly sliced tri-tip nestled between soft French bread. Okay, now dip into the au jus...enjoy. The tri-tip by itself was pretty good but adding the au jus makes this one even better. Corn Muffin: This was really good. I mean really good. I liked the crunchy texture top and the non cakey consistency of the rest. It had delicious cooked corn kernels with most of the bites. Make sure you slather with butter. Coconut Cream Pie: This is not your store bought pie from Safeway. Nope. This tasted like someone's family recipe handed down throughout the generations. The texture reminds me of something like a light custard cream with coconut shavings. The crust was buttery and flaky. I suspect the chef here loves their sweets. Just a hunch. This is a local spot through and through. It's a cozy little place that seats maybe 30 max. The a bar has a variety of on tap favorites and a tv for the latest sporting event, or daytime soap. Came here for lunch today (6/26/25) and man! I was not disappointed. First of all, for the price, I don't believe there's a better deal to be had. I ordered the rib dinner, came with 7 meaty, fall off the bone ribs, SEVEN! It comes with 2 sides, I got the mac'n'cheese (outstanding) and Cole slaw (also very good) reminded me of KFC slaw, but better. BTW, w/the sides, there was easily enough for 2 people and neither will leave the table hungry. BBQ sauce on the side, it was good but I make my own, which is better (no disrespect). I can't believe that I have not yet given Red Rock a review after being a patron for many years. Sadly I have taken this establishment for granted. For those looking for a good BBQ spot, I would recommend Red Rock. They have been very consistent with their product and offer a great value in the Napa area. The meats that I personally enjoy are the ribs, tri tip, and the brisket. Those who enjoy spicy foods would enjoy the links. (They are a little too spicy for me.) Their sides also complement their meats very well. Especially their BBQ sauces. The person there who is always a joy for me to work with is Erin. She has supported several catering events for me. At every event, the food always ends up getting complemented more than the event! Erin is the most thoughtful person you can work with. Her experience in the field is evident as she makes sure ALL your catering needs are met. She always has a smile on her face and despite the hectic environment, she is always calm and collected. Well I'm sad to report another long standing legend appears to be dying. I stopped by Red Rock BBQ in Napa last night craving a rack of BBQ Baby Back Ribs. The overly thin sauce was too sweet with no heat but lots of meat. The ribs were pork and from their size baby back but no indication of being smoked except for whatever was painted on them. Total lack of taste. No smoke penetration and they tasted like they had been oven roasted. If I hadn't taken them home to eat, I'd have given them back at the counter. I live in Sonoma so I guess it's back to Vallejo to CJ's and Gracie's or Petaluma to Lombardi's. I'd send flowers but can't find black roses!! read more

She asked me if I wanted butter and honey as well, I said yes. I got it home and after a few hours, I took a bite.
