Solid lunch meal deal with authentic flavors and spice levels. It's a rare occasion to find Sichuan mapo tofu in midtown at a fast take out location, but here Emporor Dumpling is providing just that. The menu is loaded with food options, from dishes over rice to dumplings but the lunch special is the show stealer. It also comes in a separated container to split the dish and the rice to keep them seprate and warm until it's time to feast. Included is also a drink for the price most places in the area charge for appetizers or a cold sandwich. You can order at the coutner or the digital kiosk on the side making transactions quick or friendly with the very patient and upbeat staff. There are a few tables and window seats so eating in is also an option, but the ambiance is bare bones as most fast take out places are. Emperor Dumpling delivers on taste, price, and speed. Something you normally don't see a trifecta of.

I ordered at the counter (not online or kiosk), and the food came out quickly. The tofu was spicy with a lingering kick, and I liked that it included bits of beef. It came with white rice and a bottle of water, which was a nice touch. Packaging was smart. The rice and tofu were separated but in the same container, keeping it neat. Also, if you pay with cash, it's 3% cheaper. Great spot for a quick, flavorful lunch. I'll be back to try the dumplings next time!

Getting in late on a trip and starving...ordered to go to take back to the hotel...soooooo happy we did! Each meal was great! I loved loved loved the Pork Fried Rice! The young lady working the front was super nice and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy this dinner! If you blink you will walk right by so don't!

I am staying in a hotel that is a 3 minute walk away. So I decided to check it out. I was not disappointed. Phannee greeted me in a very cheerful way. She even let me change my order last minute. She was very pleasant and professional. The inside was clean. There are a few seats inside if you wanted to eat there, there was also bar like seats facing outside if you wanted to people watch while you ate. The food was delicious. I would absolutely return!

Great casual Chinese food spot with the usual choices and dim sum options. Service is great, fast and friendly. I thought the "over rice" dishes were well portioned between your protein rice and steamed bok choy with good flavors. I would stop in here again.

I tried this place today for lunch. The service was really good and quick. The dish I got was Mapo tofu with minced beef over rice... an almost vegetarian meal. This is probably the best tofu I've ever had! The sauce was a perfect consistency, not too thick at all. I also really enjoyed the flavor which was a little sweet and the tiniest amount of spice from chilies, but absolutely nothing too hot that someone who does not like spicy food could not handle. Although the eatery is small, there is still plenty of space for sitting. I decided to eat in the restaurant, and listen to the soft jazz music playing in the background. Overall, a great experience, and I would come here again.

Emperor Dumplings was not good in my opinion - the chicken teriyaki was dry and cut super thin and my boba was very sweet (I asked for 20% sweet); the boba was mushy and clumped together, as if it was yesterday's leftover boba. The pork and chive dumplings are spectacular. They had a generous amount of filling, and I really enjoyed the texture. The exterior of the dumpling was incredibly soft, and the interior was packed with aromatic flavors. The sauces complimented the dumplings very well. This location is very small and doesn't have too much seating, so keep that in mind. Otherwise, the place was very clean, and the staff member was very friendly. They also have a screen inside to order your food if the line for the cash register is long. The food here was nice and worth the price. I look forward to coming back when I'm in the area. read more

We were coming from an event at the Ford Foundation and somewhat rushing over to get to see Every Brilliant Thing and Emperor Dumpling was on the way and from the reviews was going to be fast for ordering and receiving our pre-dinner snack. Pork & chive pan fried dumplings - 5/5, really delicious, hit the spot, fast and fresh! would get these again for sure Scallion pancakes - 4/5, very solid offering, also fast and fresh. would also get this again Hot & sour soup - 2/5, temperature hot, but taste wise, neither hot (spicy) nor sour, and sort of meh. Delicious, authentic Chinese dumplings in Midtown. It's pricier than places in Chinatown, but came in clutch for us when we were craving Chinese takeout in the area. We ordered at the touchscreen kiosk (though there was also the option of ordering at the counter), and the food came out within 5-10 minutes of ordering. I've been frequenting the Emperor Dumpling Midtown East location and it's been absolutely terrific. Their Pork Chove steamed dumplings are superlative as are their Lunch Special and Main Menu. The Lunch Special gives you a choice of entrée plus a free soda or water. For an extra $3 you get a choice of another entrée, albeit a bit smaller. For the Lunch Special I've had the Chicken with Broccoli, Mongolian Beef and Mapo Tofu. All come with a very generous amount of fried or white rice and are uniquely packaged. The staff at Emperor Dumpling is 5-star. I can't begin to say enough nice things about them. And they occasionally run promotions...recently offering a Valentine's Day $5 off $10 or more. read more

Lunch specials offer decent value if you're looking for an affordable lunch in midtown east. For $11-$12 you can get an entree plus soda/bottled water. Food is basically Panda Express-ish. So don't expect authentic or high quality Chinese food. read more

Had Emperor Dumpling on a whim. I was in the area super hangry and it was one of the first store fronts I saw. Checked out their website before going in and was intrigued by their "Healthy Asian Food" tagline. Their lunch specials given the area and this economy are an A+. I ended up having the chicken curry. The portion was out of this world (literally ate from it 3x) and the chicken to potatoes/veggies and sauce ratio was great. I am a very cautious about my sodium intake but felt this dish could have used a kick of something. Not sure if salt was it, but the chicken needed some oomph. In any case, I was very pleased with lunch and would go back to checkout the dumplings. Staff was nice and place seemed clean. read more

I tried the chicken with broccoli at this spot and it was...not good. Mainly because the sauce is overly salty and unbalanced, like if you'd tried to make the brown sauce at home and failed miserably. I love Chinese American food and this was some of the worst I've had. I think probably any mom-and-pop spot would be better! read more

Got off the E train and when we looked for Chinese food, this place popped up with good reviews and it was just a short walk from where we got off the train. My buddies ordered the special lunches and we also got two types of xlb's, beef chow fun, and some fried dumplings. The special lunches come with a little fried rice, cold garlic flavored noodle, choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup, and main side. My buddies all enjoyed their meals. The beef chow fun was also really good and beef was nice and tender. The xiao long baos were excellent and is comparable to any place in California like DTF. Nice and juicy and great with some ginger, soy sauce, and spicy chili. Friendly service and food comes out pretty quickly. Credit card is accepted. Bathroom was also very clean, which is sometimes rare in some Chinese restaurants I have been to. If you're looking for a good Chinese meal, stop here when you're in the Chelsea area.

Added a screenshot in case the owner doubles down that it was 15 mins. Guess the first call was from the delivery driver, and the second was from the restaurant itself. ‍ But the really disappointing part is that they didn't pack any soup separate from the noodles! - So my chicken dumpling noodle soup basically had no soup - don't know if they forgot it or if it was absorbed by the noodles but most restaurants at this point know to pack the broth and the noodles separately,- so I ended up having to add some of my own vegetable broth, which totally was not the flavor I was hoping for. So - love the food, but delivery service leaves a lot to be desired - next time I'll try giving instructions to pack the soup separate from the noodles and see if that helps!

The other colleague ordered shrimp and broccoli but wanted it spicy with veggie fried rice, and I ordered the shrimp with garlic sauce with pork fried rice and an order of fried chicken wings. The service was good and the food was piping hot. Everyone was happy with their meal. Plus, they give you a lot of food. I had plenty to take home. I would come back and try some other things.

I would have liked some chopped scallions on top here, but this place is kinda "no frills". The scallion pancake was nice and crispy, maybe a little oily, but still excellent. Two friends and I split the noodles, the pancake, the mu shu pork and the General Tso's chicken. It all came out pretty fast. Strange too, that no chopsticks were offered.

I can never get enough pears, and this was loaded with them. The hot honey will obviously make everything sticky but in this case, it was worth it. Crust was perfect as well. I imagine it would taste just as good heated fresh from the oven, but I'm here to say it was great on the much cooler side too. I wonder if their other location is better; even though it's far, I'd certainly be willing to give them a try since I know the food will be A+++ (and hoping the service there will be too).
