    Chicken steamed dumplings

The dumpling wrapper was chewy and a little tough. The chicken filling wasn't great. I wished it had more flavor. $11 for eight small dumplings is steep. There are other lunch options in the area.

Solid lunch meal deal with authentic flavors and spice levels. It's a rare occasion to find Sichuan mapo tofu in midtown at a fast take out location, but here Emporor Dumpling is providing just that. The menu is loaded with food options, from dishes over rice to dumplings but the lunch special is the show stealer. It also comes in a separated container to split the dish and the rice to keep them seprate and warm until it's time to feast. Included is also a drink for the price most places in the area charge for appetizers or a cold sandwich. You can order at the coutner or the digital kiosk on the side making transactions quick or friendly with the very patient and upbeat staff. There are a few tables and window seats so eating in is also an option, but the ambiance is bare bones as most fast take out places are. Emperor Dumpling delivers on taste, price, and speed. Something you normally don't see a trifecta of.

This is the correct spot and not the Brooklyn location. Stopped by Emperor Dumpling for lunch and got the Mapo Tofu with Rice special. I ordered at the counter (not online or kiosk), and the food came out quickly. The tofu was spicy with a lingering kick, and I liked that it included bits of beef. It came with white rice and a bottle of water, which was a nice touch. Packaging was smart. The rice and tofu were separated but in the same container, keeping it neat. Also, if you pay with cash, it's 3% cheaper. Great spot for a quick, flavorful lunch. I'll be back to try the dumplings next time!

Getting in late on a trip and starving...ordered to go to take back to the hotel...soooooo happy we did! Each meal was great! I loved loved loved the Pork Fried Rice! The young lady working the front was super nice and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy this dinner! If you blink you will walk right by so don't!

I am staying in a hotel that is a 3 minute walk away. So I decided to check it out. I was not disappointed. Phannee greeted me in a very cheerful way. She even let me change my order last minute. She was very pleasant and professional. The inside was clean. There are a few seats inside if you wanted to eat there, there was also bar like seats facing outside if you wanted to people watch while you ate. The food was delicious. I would absolutely return!

Great casual Chinese food spot with the usual choices and dim sum options. Service is great, fast and friendly. I thought the "over rice" dishes were well portioned between your protein rice and steamed bok choy with good flavors. I would stop in here again.

I tried this place today for lunch. The service was really good and quick. The dish I got was Mapo tofu with minced beef over rice... an almost vegetarian meal. This is probably the best tofu I've ever had! The sauce was a perfect consistency, not too thick at all. I also really enjoyed the flavor which was a little sweet and the tiniest amount of spice from chilies, but absolutely nothing too hot that someone who does not like spicy food could not handle. Although the eatery is small, there is still plenty of space for sitting. I decided to eat in the restaurant, and listen to the soft jazz music playing in the background. Overall, a great experience, and I would come here again.

Solid 3.5 star experience For for emperor +'s: + Dumplings came out fast and delicious. Got take out and two sauces came with it for free + Hot and sour soup was also decent + Fast service + Definitely would return because it's solid + Seating is clean and basic

    Dry chicken teriyaki over rice
    Risa H.

Emperor Dumplings was not good in my opinion - the chicken teriyaki was dry and cut super thin and my boba was very sweet (I asked for 20% sweet); the boba was mushy and clumped together, as if it was yesterday's leftover boba. Not sure if I would recommend based on the lunch I got today for delivery..

Good lunch value meal in midtown. I ordered in advance via Grubhub to avoid the lines. Friendly service provided. Overall good for what it is but don't expect anything mind blowing. There's limited seating inside the restaurant on first come first serve basis.

It's interesting this location steams their dumplings instead of boils. It's clean, service is good enough.

I always passed by here and liked the trendy, bright beach interiors. The food is delish - simple healthy classics with lots of fresh ingredients and delicious flavors! I ordered the fire egg wrap and couldn't have the spicy sauce so the server, Bryan, brought 2 other sauces (pura vida and Caesar) for me to enjoy. The pure vida sauce was a herby green with mustard that was so good. There's lots of seating space with clean bathrooms and polite and prompt service throughout. The chicken is…read morejust WOW and I am SO picky about chicken...perfectly cooked - crispy but still tender - deliciously seasoned throughout, not just on top. I got the spicy and it is low spice level - packed full of flavour, spaghetti squash is tomatoey and delicious, all the veggies I had were perfectly cooked and seasoned - I also tried the cauliflower and broccoli (not pictured) which were great. This is one of the few truly healthy takeout options that isn't packed full of salt sugar and additives - it tastes fresh, delicious and light. Though the portion looks quite small, it is actually very satisfying (and I can eat a lot) They get super busy (good for them as a small business!) so be aware of this when ordering at peak times in terms of wait time - my only complaint is, it is pricy - the steak in particular is quite a significant add-on. That being said, I paid for it twice in one day, so it is clearly worth it, but if I wasn't visiting - and this was a regular go-to - I would like to see prices a little more competitive. I love the concept of Rooted and how transparent they are with their food. Often time as a picky eater, I don't know what I'm consuming and even when I do, I feel like I have to make accommodations for less salty, oil, no butter, and the list goes on. The portions are definitely decent - I went with the 4 bounty box and was happy with it, but wouldn't mind sizing up to a 5 bounty box next time. Now to the food 1. Simply Chicken was juicy and packed with flavor - I think it's probably the garlic infused olive oil 2. The spaghetti squash (absolute favorite) - love the texture and the taste to it with the sauce, I can't recommend this enough 3. Gigante beans had good texture and felt satisfying to eat 4. Carrots were decent I can't wait to try more variations within the box options, I will be back!

This is a busy location, and all kiosks were being used, so there was a bit of a wait. I placed my order and went to find a seat - unfortunately all the tables in here had some kind of dressing or trash on them, so I had to make due and clean up after the last person who left. My bowl was ready in about 5 minutes or so, was made correctly and had generous amounts of all the toppings I had picked - though the piece of salmon I got was really small and dry. Overall, not a bad place to eat lunch if you're looking for something healthy and don't mind dropping $20 on lunch. And it doesn't have that dead space on the 2nd floor where though there may have been a place for you to sit, didn't mean that you'd necessarily enjoyed yourself there: Chances were that'd you'd have to hear someone's conversation in person or on the phone, as if you were on the subway. None of that here now with 4, albeit generous, seats facing the window: The expectation now is that during the lunch rush, you're going straight back to your desk or, if it's nice outside, sit outside (so a great use of the car-free section of Broadway). I had the Hot Chicken Plate: It was the special for folks with the SG app so I thought, why not. I picked double quinoa, blackened chicken, sweet potato and everything else you can see in my photo. The warm quinoa and the chicken were fantastic: You know SG is making a play for Chipotle's customers by offering what's basically a rice base with a chicken and salad topping. I was not a fan of the spicy broccoli which I found too salty. If you overload your plate with toppings it will easily go over the Chipotle price point: You'll know what's happening now that you have to enter it all in yourself on one of 3 tablets at the counter that divides the public from the kitchen. Can't wait to see the lunch crowd at the new spot!
