I live ten minutes away and it took an hour to get here. The dishes tasted exactly the same as eachother and the beef was so weird. They offered to upgrade the rice to fried rice but the fried rice was just rice with some red seasoning, it tasted plain. The rice was over cooked into clumps of mush in some spots and under cooked in others. I've eaten awful quality, dirt cheap chinese food before but none of it actually tasted this bad. Right off the bat when you walk in it kinda smells like mildew or mold or something funky, the hostess had an attitude problem, we were seated, given water and tea, the server was really good, he took our orders and then served us POTATO soup haha we couldn't stop giggling, it just seemed so weird to not have an Asian inspired soup. I am smacking myself for not protesting our visit here. We were really hungry and didn't know what to eat so we stopped here. I had read all the bad reviews and figured maybe it will be different. It was not different, not at all. My first clue should have been that no Chinese people were working here. All good Chinese restaurants have Chinese people working. This is not one of those good places. We were seated and given awkwardly large menus. After looking over the menu for a bit and feeling very cheap, I went with a small order of the cashew chicken. It sounds decent and I like cashews. Well, after taking a smoke break, our waitress came back positively reeking and carrying two plates of food. One belonged to the husband, the other was definitely not mine. The server apologized and rush ordered mine. It came out and I wished it never did. I got a mound of brownish looking chicken, nuts, and veggies. The sauce was gross, just plain gross. The veggies were mostly mushy zucchini and squash with a few carrots thrown in. THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!! I love the sweet and sour chicken from this place, was a regular for about a moth. i would order delivery often wile i was at work. today however while i was at school studying and in need of some food. called in and put in the address to them. this time it was a different person that helped me that the normal guy. His tone of voice wile taking the order was completely out of line. He proceeded to tell me there was a minimum charge for a delivery of 15 dollars. I was shocked to hear this because normally i order something thats about 10 dollars and they deliver it. I responded with woah thats fucking weird, well what else do you have then? and by that time he had already hung up on me. i called back and said did you just hang up on me? and he hung up AGAIN! at this point I'm fucking livid. i call to talk to the manager. they put her on the phone, and she was even MORE rude than he was! i told her what had happened and how i work in the food industry and have for a long time and i was shocked to hear the way he spoke to me. and she responded well yeah you cussed at him. do you cuss at people in the food industry you work in? at this point i called the other store and told the manager there. My tone was not bad when i was talking to the guy, yes i cussed but it was in a sarcastic type manner. its a social cue he should have recognized but by the time i got to the manager i was PISSED . We were looking for some good old fashioned Chinese American food like we were raised on. Oly used to have a lot of great places for Chinese food, but they seemed to have disappear over the years. We went to Emporer's Palace (westside) since we figured it HAD to be better than the last time we went about 5 years ago. We were right! The food was excellent! Clean grease makes quite a difference in the tempura batter-fried prawns, pork, and almond chicken. The chicken chow mein was awesome and fresh just like I remember as a kid. BBQ pork w/ hot mustard was great! The place was really suprisingly clean and pleasant. Even the bathroom was spotless. Our server was very attentive and pleasant...a very hard worker with a great smile. Even the busboy who put our leftovers in the boxes was bright and seemed to genuinely want to be there and help. We use to go here when I was a kid, and the food was just as good as I remembered. Now that I live in Vegas, we try to go every time I make it back to the great northwest! I have read others review and have come to the conclusion the Emperor's Palace has different cooks or something. My husband and I order from Emperor's Palace when we can afford it, and we have always been happy with the service and the foods. We enjoyed dinner last night: the woman taking phone orders was polite and pleasant and the end result was marvelous! Everything tasted fresh. We ordered a variety of things as friends came here from a different town. He didn't refill our drinks often enough to choke down our food. We ordered the combo plates which start at $13. Not too bad right? But where they get you is the set plates are weird combinations and you can substitute but they charge AT LEAST .50 per substitute. So to get Lo mein instead of fried rice, an eggroll instead of a spring roll and mongolian beef instead of almond chicken.....it cost $16! And they charged to make general tsaos chicken "extra" spicy. Even tho it is listed on the menu as spicy and they ask you how spicy you want it! It tasted like they took a mini fridge from a dorm room and used the condiments to make every sauce. I've had grape jelly with more of a kick. Oh and the kung pao shrimp literally only had two shrimp. When we complained the waiter said he would have to charge us for more! The atmosphere was terrible....the waiter disappeared on a smoke break and we had to ask him for our check.....which took another 6 minutes. There wasn't a single Asian American working there! Should have known everything was gonna taste like ketchup and mustard. Oh, and the eggrolls tasted like cinnamon. How do u screw up an eggroll? Ive eaten better gas station food. Nothing we had was good. We paid $13/per dish, We got yucky tasteless old fried rice (I am Vietnamese - I know what good rice taste and look like. Old rice taste bad and look bad too when raw or after cooked). We had oily soggy Lo Mein, Almond Chicken, Sweet and Sour pork, Broccoli beef. EVERYTHING WAS yucky. We should not have taken the 2nd spoon/fork. We should have just told them how bad their food was and walked out of there. We wasted our money and regretted putting that kind of 'so called' food in our bellies. Afterward, we went to Dairy Queen for blizzard. Didn't plan on eating fat food but we had to tget taste out of our mouths. The previous comment was right, I didn't even think of it. No Chinese or Asian servers.
