We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Empire Steak House Hawaii, and a huge part of what made the evening so memorable was our server, Charlie. He was incredibly personable, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful from start to finish. Charlie remembered the little details we shared about our anniversary and made us feel truly special. He even went out of his way to take photos of us so we could capture the moment, which was such a thoughtful touch and meant a lot to us. The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent, but Charlie really elevated the entire experience with his warmth and attention to detail. We left feeling genuinely cared for and would absolutely come back. Honestly, we'd return just to see Charlie again. Thank you for making our anniversary so memorable!

Very high end steak house. Beautiful views of Honolulu excellent service and great tasting food. Restaurant is only little over a year old. On the 30th floor on the property of Ilikai Hotel. Prices are alittle high but worth every penny.

Huge steaks, but also insane prices but the tomahawk was sooo juicy and fatty and delish. Was defs hard to finish tbh cuz it was so much food Appetizers not really worth because they were so small We asked for a specific window seat to see the fireworks and they said they would give us it but then they didn't.... They did comp some stuff for us though so that was nice

Went here for Mother's Day, and they were offering a set menu for $139 per person. Surprisingly, there were only about three tables occupied when we checked in at noon. I have to say, for a steakhouse, the steaks were rather underwhelming. I ordered the New York strip, while my mother had the filet mignon. My New York strip was pretty average. It was cooked to my preferred medium rare but the cut of steak could've been better quality. I mean not to throw shade, but I've honestly had more tender New York strip steaks from Sam's Club. That said, some dishes really stood out. The calamari was excellent, especially paired with the marinara sauce. The crab cake was also very good and packed with lots of crab, although I thought it could have used a little more sauce. Dessert was probably the highlight of the meal. Both the tiramisu and the chocolate mousse cake were out of this world delicious!! Overall, the restaurant offers incredible views and the service was excellent, but it wouldn't be my first choice for the steaks. Happy eating!! 44

The weirdest experience that we've ever had!! Reservations for 2 at 6pm / got there early. Elevator takes forever to get to top floor where restaurant is. Hostess sits us on the backside of the restaurant floor next to bar. I literally had to plead, fight, forcibly insist to get a table with an ocean view. She said that all of the tables were reserved yet there was 4 tables occupied in the entire restaurant. I told her that we wouldn't be long and eat as fast as possibly and leave SHE STILL WOULDN'T ACCOMMODATE US I still insisted and wouldn't budge until we got a table NOT over looking a roof with air conditioners - omg. I finally told her / fuck it we are leaving AND THEN all of a sudden she found a table to our liking!!!!!! There was a family that had the best table in the entire restaurant and had already finished their dinner and yet they wouldn't leave. They were there for 2 + hours as they were still there after we left. They were Asians with small kids. Our first waitress ( Asain) didn't speak any English. Couldn't understand what blue cheese / olives / martinis were = Bad sign. Our second waitress helped us out and the other wait staff still had challenges. It took 3 times asking for lemons for our water. I asked if they had stuffed blue cheese olives w their martinis. HARD NO I asked for crumbled blue cheese and I would stuff my own olives for my martinis. I did - I stuffed 7 olives for my 2 happy hour martinis. I knew this was a huge mistake when we asked the white couple exiting out of the elevator if their meal was good and their response was "it's a great view" We are white. This restaurant caters to Asians / Japanese. I've never ever have written a review biased on race and this is sad that the language barrier was so great that we couldn't communicate ?!?!?! Not accommodating at all and I won't stand for this. So I'm gonna order eat n leave. Onion soup = pretty solid and good Lobster bisque = small portion, warm, and just ok Barratta = no bueno / horrible!!! Made them take it off the bill. We got the check and left a 10% tip and bailed. Sad sad place to spend money for dinner. Again, really weird.

Really nice rooftop restaurant. Love the ambiance and decor, and piano player. Definitely date night place. All of the staff we encountered was warm and welcoming. Michael was our server and he was so friendly and attentive. Happy hour is a great deal. We ordered so many pupus, which were all great. We all ordered the prix fixe menu NYsteak, which was a great deal, but the steak was not good. It arrived drenched in some type of gray sauce, that if it were listed on the menu as coming with sauce I would have ordered the sauce on the side or chosen a different entree. I would definitely not order that steak again. I would be down to come back and give this place another try based on the ambiance and the service.

Happy Hour 4pm - 6 pm with incredible discounted food and drink options. We had four cocktails and dinner for two for $77. The drinks and the food were both outstanding! Amazing views and service by Tony at the bar and Ava at the door! Shhhh don't tell anyone that this is the best happy hour in Waikīkī

What a gem!!! Top 4 steak-houses I've ever been to. Steak was seasoned perfectly and my salmon was perfection. Cocktails were great and live piano was nice. Views and good service is there, I was a happy camper! Room to improve: lemon pasta wasn't super flavorful but I didn't mind given how terrific everything else was. Thank you for a lovely night.

The Empire Steak house is on the 30th floor of the Ilikai Hotel in Honolulu. We had a table at the expansive window with a beautiful view. The restaurant has a wonderful vibe, with a piano player near the bar. We shared the Tuna Tartare --- amazing. The steak, too, perfectly cooked and sliced. It was enough to take home, including the bone full of meat. The Empire potatoes went perfectly with the steak. This is fine dining at its best with impeccable service. Dessert was watching the fireworks from the marina on the ground level. A lovely evening. 27

We had an early reservation at Empire Steak House, and from the moment we arrived, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Being seated promptly set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable evening, but what truly made the night stand out was the outstanding service. Mark went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. He was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely warm and welcoming. His recommendations were spot-on, and he made us feel like valued guests rather than just another table. The food was phenomenal--perfectly cooked steaks, excellent sides (get the spinach and mushrooms!!), and a refined atmosphere that lives up to Empire's reputation. Combined with Mark's exceptional service, it made for a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for top-tier service and an unforgettable steakhouse experience.

Celebrated my retirement at Empire Steakhouse on Top of the Ilikai. Beautiful restaurant very open and welcoming. Service was excellent from the Greeter in front to the Hosts to the Wait Staff and the Managers. We ordered the Calamari for an appetizer. Prepared perfectly crispy outside moist and tender inside with a nice slightly spicy sauce. Everyone had the House Salad and we ordered pretty much all of the sides. Mushrooms with Onions, Grilled Asparagus, Spinach Stir Fried with Garlic, Potatoes fried in Beef Tako, and Creamy Mashed Potatoes. The Potatoes fried in Beef Talo were delicious and addictive. Crispy outside moist and fluffy inside. For entrees we ordered the Pan Seared Onaga, Seared Ahi, Filet Mignons, and a bunch of Bone in Ribeyes. I ordered a Bone In Ribeye medium rare. It was perfectly prepared with just the right amount of seasoning perfectly seared on both sides. One of the Best Steaks I've ever had. For dessert we ordered a sampling of the Cheesecake, Tiramisu , and Chocolate Mousse Cake. The Chocolate Mousse Cake was wonderful it was so decadent yet light with a slight hint of sweet crunch in the middle. We all had a great time celebrating my retirement.

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

What should have been an enjoyable breakfast turned into an extremely disappointing service experience. Our waiter, Daniel, was friendly when he introduced himself, but things went downhill from there. When our food was delivered, we were missing several items we had ordered. Daniel never returned to check on our table or ask if everything had come out correctly. Instead, we could see him spending much of his time near the host desk talking with the hostesses and what appeared to be a manager. Eventually, we had to physically get up from our table and ask the bartender for more coffee and water. We noticed that the table next to us seemed to be dealing with the same lack of attention. Their breakfast was missing the pineapple they had requested, and they also had to get another server's attention just to get more water. What really stood out, though, was how our table was cleared. Daniel stacked the dirty plates directly on our table, removed the silverware from them, and placed it back on the table while pancake syrup dripped everywhere. He wasn't using a tray, and after picking up the plates, he left four place settings of dirty silverware stacked in a pool of syrup on our table. He never returned to collect them. While he was clearing the plates, we asked him to make sure we weren't charged for the menu items we had ordered but never received. Instead of apologizing, he seemed surprised and gave us a look as if to say, "Why didn't you tell me earlier?" The answer is simple: he never came back to our table after the food was delivered. Had he checked on us even once, we would have gladly told him what was missing. We visit Waikiki frequently and certainly understand that restaurants can get busy. However, Deck. did not appear unusually busy during our visit. Having to track down other employees for basic things like coffee, water, and missing food items, while watching our server socialize near the host stand, was extremely frustrating. It's particularly disappointing because we've enjoyed Deck. enough over the years to return more than 15 times. The restaurant has a great Waikiki location and atmosphere, which is why we kept coming back. Unfortunately, after this experience, we won't be returning. After being loyal customers for so many visits, the level of service we received during this breakfast fell far short of what we have come to expect from Deck.

That's a shame because it has the potential to be very good. When you start with a cocktail concept that is deliberately kept low key with no signage, and a drink menu that rotates and evolves, you have a pretty good floor to start. Having a cozy place to settle in and being able to enjoy food from Chris Kajioka should give 430 Pkwy a high ceiling. If you like an espresso martini try something a little different. Their Espressing My Love batches espresso with Averna, black walnut bitters, and a unique monkeypod syrup. Unfortunately, there is no espresso machine so you cannot get fresh drawn espresso to make a Carajillo the way Cafe Miro use to. The ahi brioche is a carry over from all Chris Kajioka places. The grilled cheese is excellent. Hotdogs are kicked up - it used to be a black truffled miso chicken sausage but the current one is a little different. The problem is the food preparation totally undermines the whole place. Without a separate kitchen you have frying being done just a few feet away from where cocktails are made. If you sit on the right side of the bar you will quickly understand why this doesn't work. I would come here more frequently if i didn't have to smell like cooking oil afterwards. Fix that problem and this place would rock.

SERVICE: friendly INTERIOR: modern, chic yet laid back EXTERIOR: on the rooftop at The LAYLOW, good amount of seating WAIT TIME: less than 10 mins to grab a drink at the bar, got seated in the dining area maybe an hour after we arrived (did not have reservations) PARKING: got dropped off OVERALL COMMENTS: always wanted to come here n' finally after how many years made my way on a Saturday night. Entered the elevator n' saw their July music calendar posted, which was great bc I wanted to be in a music setting. They have live music n' a DJ on the weekends. Couldn't decide on a drink so the bartender asked what I liked n' my go-to request is for "fruity, strong, n' sweet." It turned out creamy n' good. The pupus we ordered to snack on were delicious, would definitely order them again. Atmosphere was nice n' casual. Drinks were good, food was great, n' the beats the night I went was my kine of music!

I was just skipping around town exploring wanting to check-in to as many places as I could like the responsible Yelp elite that I am and then I find this amazing hole on the wall speakeasy. The lovely gentleman in the front welcomed us in to take a look around and I asked him if I could take photos for yelp and he told me that if I was going to write a review, I had to join them. So of course, I took the invite and decided to stay for a little while. We sat at a nice area. A perfect little place. I just want to take a snapshot and keep it in my memory so I can emulate it and turn it into my home study. I could stay here forever. The vibes were on point. The server recommended drinks that he thought we would like, and we loved both of them. I don't remember what the drinks were called, but mine had a blueberry taste to it, and my friend had a mock tail, but some sort of Yuzu to it. We also shared a $15 charcuterie graze. 10 out of 10 would recommend being curious and opening doors to finding out that there's a speakeasy randomly in an area you never thought would be there. What an amazing experience.

What surprised me most was how good the food was for the price. Usually spots with this kind of atmosphere rely on the drinks to carry the experience, but every dish actually delivered. The chicken karaage was crispy and packed with flavor, the beef takoyaki disappeared almost instantly, and the taro chips with mascarpone were such a unique combination. Between the cocktails, food, service, and atmosphere, everything just worked.
