The other day, we went to Eric's for lunch and had a negative experience. I ordered the eggplant with garlic sauce and my wife had the chicken/snow peas, each served with a mound of white rice. The eggplant dish had a cloyingly sweet sauce which overpowered everything. The chicken and snow peas dish was a little better, however it was so bland that my wife had to ask for soy sauce to add a little flavor! The service was cursory, at best, and the server seemed indifferent, although he was more engaging with other diners. We had to wait awhile to be served by him, although a friendly woman came and gave us tea and water. Unfortunately, she did not serve us. Overall, the food was just ok, with either overly sauced and bland dishes. The service was so-so, even hostile at times, and we definitely will not be going back even though we live in Noe Valley. read more

Had dinner . Ordered Mu Shu chicken, asparagus shrimp , Mongolian beef and mixed vegetables.. Portions generous and freshly made. The sauces on the beef and shrimp were very similar but tasty. Excellent service and definitely a place we'll return. read more

Food is outstanding here, it isn't your average style Chinese food, it is mandarin style so be prepared to have a different type of Chinese culture brought to the table. I recommend the sample appetizer platter to enjoy and try all the appetizers. Enough for 2 to share. I always get the Erik's chow main. The sauce it has is delicious but the only thing I will say is that they used the same sauce on a lot of their other dishes so be aware. I also love the Mongolian beef which doesn't crowd the plate with a bunch of different veggies to try and make the plate look bigger than it is. The service is always good, and they are generous with portions. However my girl did find a hair in the food, BUT I am convinced I was her hair because the cooks and all the other workers have black hair which didn't match the hair she picked out. The ambience is great there is a lot of friendly banter from regulars who have been coming here for years. Every friend I have ever brought by here always requests Erik's whenever I say I'm in the mood for Chinese. Keep it up guys you are doing great! read more

Just ordered late lunch. Potstickers- good Garlic chicken lunch - not much garlic flavor, not sure what flavor, it was okay. Mongolian Beef entree - see pic - enough said! Chow Mein with chicken - expected chicken and noodles. Noodles had zero flavor, chicken was the same as the garlic chicken. Wow, what happened to this place? It used to be so good but a recent visit there was really disappointing. The staff was very friendly and we were seated promptly. The food came very quickly...perhaps too quickly. I suspect that the food is prepared days in advance and microwaved to order. The freshest dish we received was the string beans in hoisin sauce. The strings beans could have been a tiny bit more cooked but at least they seemed fresh. Otherwise they were unseasoned and served with hoisin sauce that seemed watered down. The General Tso's Chicken came with a weird, flavorless brown sauce that was neither spicy nor tangy. The chicken was overcooked and tough and tasted as though it'd been reheated. The Governor's Chicken Kew came with what seemed to be chicken cartilage and some slimy vegetables served in the weird, flavorless brown sauce. The predominant flavor was salt and dishwater, not the sweet/salty/tanginess that you'd expect. The steamed rice may have been steamed last week sometime because it had a top layer of dry, semi-crunchy rice. The fortune cookies were quite good, I got a good fortune! read more

Wow was so Disappointing that the food and service was bad now especially with Covid going on you think they be little nicer especially to your long time customer. But today they SUCK and not sure if the waiter was new? Because he was RUDE to me and made me wait 15 minutes to order my food and was trying tell him what i wanted but he would not leave the cashier area only take money from the pickup area and was snapping with few of the customers not just with me so if u wanted wait until everything goes back to normal or just wait you if not you will have a bad experience here. Oh and i waited 25 minutes for popstickers WTF doesn't take that long to make and people who ordered after me They got their food before me. I have given them a one star and it's a shame you dnt appreciate your customers who are still coming even though things not back to normal yet maybe next year i will come back? Reminder to myself not to order take out again from this place. Chow mein was no good, weird salty and noodles were a bit hard. I got the potstickers which were okay but not especially good and in take out box, they were not crispy on the bottom. The Eric's spicy eggplant was very low on the eggplant but the flavor was good. The white rice was hard! Like leftover rice on the bottom of the pot hard! I made the conscious decision to choose less healthy white rice but I wasted my carb allocation as I did not like this non fluffy white rice. Lastly the mapo tofu was not tasty, just salty and meh. Our new favorite locally based restaurant when craving Chinese food! Super nice staff with excellent recommendations. What restaurant proactively tells you that two of your six dishes are almost exactly the same (chow mein and broccoli beef) with a suggestion to remove one dish and add beef to your chow mein? If you're looking for soup, try the wonton cause it's tasty and we were so happy with this dish, and all our food, that we forgot to take photos of all remaining dishes. Happy Eating! read more

Two for dinner: ordered (1) sizzling rice soup, (2) lemon prawns, (3) Kung Pao chicken. Service was perfunctory. Server was stone faced as she put the soup in the bowls. (1) Soup: devoid of flavor, rice tasted stale and old, vegetables were passable. (2) Prawns: A W F U L!!! Each of us ate just one and nearly spit them out. Sweet to a fault - drowning in a tasteless bath of sugary goop. There was enough breading to choke a horse and it was apparently undercooked. Between us, we ate only two of them leaving the remainder on the plate. (3) Kung Pao Chicken: Maybe one tablespoon of peanuts, and virtually NO chicken (one tablespoon at most of FINELY diced meat), drowning in a river of soy sauce, with enough peppers and zucchini to try and hide the missing chicken. Drowning in soy sauce. We left most of it on plate, too. Bitter tasting. Cost: $59 for two. Ridiculous. Go elsewhere. It's not what it used to be. I used to really enjoy this place. No more. You'll get better food at Panda Express and that isn't saying much either. read more
