I wish the bread was a little bit toasted but, but other than that no notes. I was also really surprised by the secret goo, which was really good with the rest of the sandwich. There is plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor seating available. The interior has a cozy wood vibe, and the staff are kind here. I ordered through DoorDash and had no issues. It came really quickly. It was my first time trying Erik's and I was surprised to hear that it's a chain. I ordered the half sandwich of Pilgrim's Progress and soup combo (clam chowder). I added bacon to my sandwich and had it on Dutch crunch bread. It was really good! I especially liked how chunky the avocado was and the crunch of the clover sprouts. The Dutch crunch wasn't that crunchy. It came with a pickle and piece of bread on the side. Okay who is not stoked about this being the first Erik's Deli? It was a mecca for my husband and I to make it here. We went for our wedding anniversary, LOL. Located off Mt. Hermon road in a sweet strip mall. I have a very soft spot for places that haven't been renovated to the modern look. Call it nostalgia. I've been to many Erik's Deli Cafes in the South Bay. My whole life, I never knew the mothership was in my favorite area area in the Santa Cruz county. I took a lot of photos and posted them here on Yelp. If you know your Erik's, they look like walking into an old gold miners cabin. This is part of the charm eating at any Erik's. Okay, with that said, this location is actually made with used local lumber from barns in the Santa Cruz area from the 1970s. So cool! We ordered our favorite sandwich, the natural high and a tomato soup. Can't go wrong. Looking forward to going back here next time we're in the area. read more

Ordered ahead online and all of my sandwiches were packaged and ready to go a few minutes early. Everything I ordered came out correctly including the substitutions and removal of items. Employees were very friendly when I came to pick up and were nice enough to give me paper plates to take along with my sandwiches. The location is within a big shopping center and could be hard to find if you are not using a gps. Been coming here for decades but last several visits have been disappointing from a service perspective (food is great, as always). Ticket times run a consistent 15-20 minutes even when not terribly busy -- and never an apology for the slowness, my orders have been misplaced, orders for salad never inquire about or provide dressing, the English skills of some of the cashiers are subpar and result in mistakes, and the whole team seems uncoordinated, slow, and indifferent -- though specific individuals can be nice. There's also no indication of where your order is in the queue, so you can't tell if they've lost it or it's just taking A REALLY LONG TIME. It really seems like their systems and training need a tune up. Zooccoli's downtown (and this place in the past) show that if you setup, staff, and train correctly you can process huge volumes efficiently. Unfortunately, the current incarnation of this place has lost sight of that ball. read more

I came here to meet my boyfriend for lunch and ended up feeling like I wasted $25. I ordered a del monte sandwich and specifically asked for no pickles because I hate them, and they still put them in. Also used the wrong kind of bread. On my boyfriends sea dog, I asked for added bacon and they put like one slice for $2 extra. And also put pickles in his sandwich when it's not even supposed to come with them. He hates pickles too so was was pretty disappointed. Then since we had to eat outside because of our dog, we ended up just eating standing in the hot parking lot because they didn't come clean the one empty table that was outside. I don't really have the budget to spend $25 on food that leaves us feeling like "well it was edible..." can't expect much I guess for Scott's valley. Most places here disappoint. Probably won't come here again. I'll stick with House of Bagels they never do me wrong. read more

Breads are fresh and soft and veggies are nice and fresh. I had the raging bull at my last stop and it was pretty damn good. Lots of roast beef piled up with roasted green ortega chile's, pepper jack cheese, tomato, and alfalfa sprouts on an onion roll. I thoroughly enjoyed it. They have draft sodas and a good selection of premium beverages like sarsaparilla, lemonades and the such. We've tried: Sandwiches - chicken pesto - abbott's habit - chicken durango - ciao down - farmer's market Salads - baja fiesta - house - mandarin tree Soups/Stews - clam chowder - texas jailhouse chili - jambalaya - chicken vegetable rice Carrot cake, and other featured items! We haven't been let down once! Everything we've tried is enjoyable, but our favorites are the chicken pesto sandwich and baja fiesta salad. Our meals always are made in under 10 mins and most importantly everything is so consistent and that's what makes Erik's such a reliable dining out choice for us because we can always count on our favorite choices to be made the exact same each time- fresh, delicious, and equally portioned! The shop is always clean and tidy and Cris gives us the best customer experience with his friendliness and always makes our meals great. The woman appeared to be a rude, but whatever everybody has a bad day sometimes. I found out that yes, you do have to buy something else to get the half sandwich, ok no problem..... I said thank you, and as i was walking off right after I said THANK YOU to her, and was kind- even though she had attitude- she said a rude comment so clear that she had to have thought I wouldn't understand what she said. Again, I was very kind to her, I can't help but to wonder how many other women or people she has done this to that simply didn't know what she saying or perhaps even thought she wasn't talking to them since it wasn't in English. I call those kinds of people snakes- no offense to actual snakes or snake signs... well snakey snakey you got caught this time. I hope you will find kindness in your heart towards others. I order the exact same thing every time, so I can't review any other food. lol. This is my go-to DoorDash order from Erik's, for lunch: "Hail Caesar" Chicken Wrap. Very simple and tasty. It has crunchy croutons mixed inside the lettuce. I love the texture difference. For me, it's best with the Wheat Wrap (light green one). I add Avocado and diced Tomatoes. The tomatoes are fresh and tossed in olive oil which gives them extra flavor. Butternut Squash soup! Omg, it rivals any restaurant. Yum. It's a tad on the sweet side, which I like. They don't add cinnamon or nutmeg (thank god). I add a touch of salt & pepper and it's perfect. Miss Vickie's Salt & Vinegar chips because they are the best tasting chips on the planet. Carrot Cake - sooo good. Large slice and moist with cream cheese frosting. They leave the walnuts on the frosting instead of inside the cake, so you can pick them off if you want, which is nice. The guy who took my order was friendly and professional, but the girl making the sandwich was quite the opposite. First my chicken pesto sandwich should have been called Chicken and sprouts with the mountain they piled on with barely any pesto. My favorite part was the fact that one slice of bread was soft and soggy and the other was hard enough to break a tooth. My salad looked nice until I started mixing In my dressing. The lettuce was browned and going bad, the tomato's were old, the cucumbers were becoming practically translucent. The bell peppers were soft and limp. Giving this place 4 stars solely due to the great customer service I received! Went in on a busy Sunday afternoon for lunch. The restaurant was packed, and I waited a while to order, but didn't wait too terribly long to get my food. I took my food to go, only to get where I was going and realize that I had been given completely the wrong sandwich. Not even close to what I ordered. I thought about just sucking it up and eating what I ended up with, but I was really craving a raging bull, so I decided to give them a call. The girl who answered the phone was incredibly apologetic, and being somebody who works in the service industry, I was understanding because I know these things happen. She asked me what exactly I had ordered and promised me that the correct sandwich would be ready in 5 minutes. I went back and got the correct sandwich and was greeted with yet another apology -it was no sweat. The sandwich was delicious and they let me keep the one they had given me on accident, as well.
