Food was good however, I had to leave this review because their absolute disregard for COVID. This whole space was crowded inside. With barely any room to move around and tables were not spaced out. I got my order to go but I watched as the guy handling walk ins just took his mask off entirely and proceeded to greet new customers and drop food off at tables. If your not going to take a pandemic seriously enough to keep a simple mask on what makes you think they will wash their hands, or follow proper food safety guidelines if it's just inconvenient for them? This is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants I have had. I currently live overseas and only visit home (the US) once a year. Where I live, the only Mexican food is Taco Bell. Yep, I know. It's a pleasure to find a family run eatery like Escobars. This modest, bustling business exudes front of the house hard work and kitchen competence. Soon after we seated, we were served a bowl of fresh hot chips and homemade salsa. Good chips = good sign. The cook(s) definitely know their craft. All three entrees we ordered exceeded our expectations. The chilis verde and Colorado were notable. Perfectly tender chunks of braised pork and beef respectfully were tender and moist. The sauces were excellent. I'd like both recipes. The third entree was vegetarian fajita. A generous portion of veggies and mushrooms were nicely grilled and plentiful. Both corn and flour tortillas served hot and fresh. I recommend Escobars unhesitatingly. Get there early or wait in line. Either option is worth it. read more

This is a good eat! The food was awesome and the service was decent. The in side of the restaurant is not very big, but they also have outdoor seating. Try to get there before the evening rush so you can get seated and fed quickly. If you like a little voter salsa just ask and they will bring you the special bottle of salsa to your table. This restaurant will not disappoint! We thoroughly enjoyed our enchiladas and tacos. The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. We were here in 1998, they hadn't been open very long at that time. We are in Kanab with a tour group. One of our dinners was here at Escobar's. Wonderful, authentic Mexican food. I'm very picky about mine, and this was some of the best I have had. All 7 of us were very pleased with our entrees, and the quantity was as good as the quality! Be very careful however, when they tell you the plate is hot, they are understating it. We just had takeout from Escobar's and the food was great and the customer service was fantastic. If you've found yourself caught in Kanab, avoid all restaurants besides this one for dinner. We left three different places because they were so overpriced I was worried I would have no more use for my wallet. The cheapest entrees we saw were in the lower twenties, going all the way up to the forties. Finally, tired and ravenous, our group of four found Escobar's. Everything on the menu was half the price or less of the other three we went to. The price isn't the only good thing about Escobar's. Our waitress was very nice and had a sense of humor, the atmosphere was great, but best of all was... The food! The chimichangas were actually crispy, the fajitas were good, and the shrimp tacos (what I ordered) were INCREDIBLE. They had this great sauce on them, not sure what it was, and had great shrimp-to-veggie ratio. It is an overpriced Mexican food place. It appeared to be a family-owned restaurant, whose proprietors mean well. Unfortunately, the recipes are not very good. The green chile filling in the tamales was sweet, which is uncharacteristic of a green chile dish. The chile relleno was the best item that I tasted and probably the only decent Mexican food on the menu--including the rice and beans. We didn't finish the food served to us. A good choice in Kanab. Maybe the only choice. This is not Tex-Mex and it is not New Mex but what comes out of the kitchen here is satisfying. My chile Colorado burrito was just spicy enough and stuffed with meat. The green chile has some tomatillos mixed in to keep it on the mild side. Chips were thicker than most but had good flavor. I had the garlic shrimp with mushrooms which was excellent and the hubs had chili verde which was pretty ok. Escobar's is a FAVORITE. I've tried multiple dishes (although I have a favorite that is my go-to if I'm not feeling adventurous. You can order out or dine in, both are good! Last time we came here it was Super Bowl Sunday, and they brought back some Sunday Lunch Specials. My husband was SO STOKED that they brought back the soft chicken tacos, and he ate the crap out of them. I had Carne Asada, it's a beautiful, delicious piece of meat and I love stacking it with the beans and rice on the tortillas. If you are looking for a delicious meal, look no further.
