Love the friendly atmosphere of this cafe. I made the mistake of ordering the Espumoso frappe, which I thought would be a standard frappe, but it was doused heavily with caramel, so quite sweet and rich, but if you're into caramel, that's definitely a good summertime drink for you! Also snagged a beef and potato empanada. They were handed to me nice and warm with two salsas. The empanada was stuffed thick with filling, but it was quite salty, so couldn't finish it. Will be back to try a different coffee and a sweet empanada though! read more

This is a quaint neighborhood coffee house, which has its own blend of coffees. I love how they are smack dab in the middle of Bishop Arts. Grab a coffee and walk around and see all the sights. I would like to know if the coffee is fair trade and where they source their coffee. Great question for the Yelp Community. They also have a sign indicating they serve Lavazza but no longer serve it anymore. I would keep the signs too, they look spiffy but can be a bit misleading if you purposely wanted Lavazza coffee. The Kenya blend I had today was wonderful. Light medium bodied with hints of clean cotton. Espumosa has a wide range of choices for milk: Almond, Hemp, Soy and Rice milks will get that cup of java screaming to be drunk. I've not tried hemp milk, it's one I gotta try the next time I'm in. They also offer items you don't normally find in an average coffee shop: Dryers Ice cream, various empanadas(even a veggie empanada), baked goods, smoothies, acai bowels and soft drinks that you don't find at other coffee shops. On top of all of that they sale Flan and Tres Leche cake both of which go well with coffee. Pretty cool neighborhood coffee spot. I'm glad I stopped in. read more

I love cafes with pillows and windowsills where you can sit and look out the window all emo-like. If you ignore the side of the café that looks like a deli, you can really get inspired by the artwork and coffee aroma. Espumoso frappe = Frappuccino. Packed with sugar. Stopped in to this spot earlier this week as I recently moved to the neighborhood and have been making my way through the local coffee spots. Two days later, already had to go back. When I tell you this is the most amazing cold brew I have ever had in my life ... like it's just the most incredible flavor (I think hazelnut or something idc what it is tbh, bc it's perfect). The interior is cozy and approachable and their empanadas are the ultimate comfort food. Don't expect the mile a min service of a Starbucks, it is more laid back and they're taking their time which is warranted when you're putting out a great product. 10/10 read more

I come into Espumoso any chance I get for my caffeine fix. With so many coffee shops popping up in the area I still find myself coming back to Espumoso. Nothing competes with their consistency in taste and service. There is always a friendly barista taking care of me here and my order always tastes great. I think I'm considered a regular because the kind woman at the counter now asks "the usual?" I typically order a honey vanilla latte but their cold brew is one of the best I've had as well. Be sure to grab a beef and potato empanada to pair with your drink and you are all set! Perfect grab and go place but also a great place to meet a friend or study. read more

I ordered two different empanadas this morning.There was hard and thick plastic (not flimsy plastic) in my beef and potato one. I believe I was able to break some off and swallow a small piece. My bf and I let the ladies know and they didn't apologize or showed any empathy or concern. I know we are human and accidents happen. But had no good customer service or like I said did not show any concern for what was told to them. I hope this is not something normal for them. I feel anyone else would apologize and try to correct it and maybe stop selling the beef one for that day incase there was more pieces. I just feel someone else could have gotten hurt. read more

This is a good, quiet, and small, place for a cup of coffee or espresso drink! They also have empanadas and pastries which are good. While smaller than some cafes where you can sit and study, this still has a fun atmosphere and is usually quieter than neighboring options. read more

I was walking around bishop arts while I waited for somebody that was at the dentist and I stumbled across this place and I was not disappointed. So this was down the street from Lockhart and we totally needed (omg now that I think about it I've drunken coffee for 2 weeks straight).. anyways, we needed coffee before leaving Dallas to head to Washington DC. We stopped by here. It's a coffee place with a huge wide open space. What was interesting is they had a cup of coffee that was apparently a candle haha. It was nice. Anyways, ordered a caramel macchiato. Wasn't really all too impressed with it. It had the caramel flavor but there wasn't too much of the coffee taste in there- it was mostly really really foamy for me :(. Kinda on the higher side of prices too. They have a few seats you can sit on near the side of the wall, along with a pallet looking table and couch in the front. Also be careful, steps when you enter :P read more

5/5 for the brisket empanadas alone. Holy Hanna were those bad boys tasty! I also picked up a dozen large chocolate chip cookies which I'm told were "fantastic". I was in and out, maybe 10 minutes with a bag of tasty noms and a bueno coffee. They don't have milk alternatives but meh. Considering the coffee was awesome with just some sugar I'll totally over look it!! (Street parking sucks. Good luck) read more

Great small coffee shop, the small part being the only downer (or plus point if you like the place all to yourself). Situated in the Bishop Arts District, it's a good place to spend the afternoon or take a break from perusing the surrounding shops. Every time I've been there, I feel like there is a group of people from a foreign language meet-up or something. The coffee is decent, and the barista takes his/her time making whatever you order. No rush here. They also have a variety of snacks, including empanadas and ice cream. I would say the empanadas are better than the coffee. The window bench area is my favorite spot -- good cushion, it doesn't get too cold, and you can see all the passersby. Very eclectic music selection. Street parking only, so it can be tough on weekends. read more

I loved the vibe here. The menu is so beautifully-written and the beef and potato empanada I ordered was delicious. My soy chai tea latte was a bit thick which I didn't particularly enjoy, but my friend really enjoyed his white chocolate mocha. However, their wifi was awful and never fully connected which was really frustrating. Other things to note are the art that's for sale across the shop and their loyalty program! I would definitely return here again to sample more items, but I hope their wifi gets fixed! read more

I was trying to find a coffee place to study at and this place pop up. I decided to give it a try. There's only one worker so it's really slow to get your drinks/food etc especially if there are more than one person in front of you. I had gotten the chai latte with soy and chicken empanadas. The chai latte I really enjoyed because it wasn't overly sweet and the right cinnamon taste to it. But the chicken and cheese Empanadas were just alright to me. It is kind of expensive because I got a small drink and a empanada that came out to be 8.50 which means their small coffee is about 5 bucks. Not really a great place to study at either because they have no restroom and the music is played overly loud. read more

This quaint little shop is tucked away in the Bishop Arts District. Came here on a Monday morning, and we were the only ones in the unique little shop. The barista was super nice, and when I ordered the cappuccino, he asked me if I wanted raw sugar in it. Usually when I get a cappuccino, it's just espresso and milk, so I asked him if they normally put sugar in their cappuccino. He said that they do, so I said, sure, why not. He took his time making my drink, but when I got it, it was delicious. The foam turned out beautiful, and the sugar didn't make it too sweet at all. Will definitely come again some time! read more

Wow, get the empanadas and don't even question yourself! My husband and I tried the ham & cheese, chicken & cheese and beef & potato. Our favorite was the chicken & cheese but all three were amazing. The empanadas are huge and for only $2.99, they're a nice lunch or breakfast meal in itself. Really love their coffee too. Iced chai and they're cold brew were delicious. When we stayed in Bishop Arts, we came here every single morning. The coffee and chai are some of the best we have ever had. Highly recommend ordering empanadas (either chicken or guava) with an iced coffee or iced chai. Come with a bit of time because they usually only had one person working. read more

Very delicious empanadas! We tried the chicken and cheese and the beef and potato. Both were tasty but the beef and potato was so good, we ordered seconds. The empanadas come with a small container of fresh salsa--just the right amount. Empanada filling was warm and juicy--not dry at all--and very well seasoned. We also ordered the Caffe con leche and the cold brew. Delicious drinks as well! The caffe con leche wasn't too sweet which was great! Lots of flavor. The cold brew kind of tastes like it has some hazelnut flavor (not too sure but still tastes great). We grabbed a couple Romeo & Juliet (cream cheese & guava) empanadas to-go. There was just one woman working the counter and she was very friendly! Great customer service. Highly recommend a visit to Espumoso Café. read more

Cute coffee shop that doesn't have too much or too little to choose from. The prices aren't ridiculous for being right in Bishop Arts. I had a perfect iced soy latte, which was light on the ice so it wasn't a rip off ;) There are some tables and it's not loud in there at all. There's ice cream, too, for those that can enjoy lactose! I am definitely trying an empanada next time! read more

I dont understand good reviews about this place. They are so slow and service is awful. Today I went in the morning for an empanada and a coffee and it took them (no joke) 20 minutes. When I arrived at the counter I was not greeted, they just left me standing there for 5 minutes without a simple "ill be right with you". When the girl finally got to me she just stared at me. Didnt even say "what can I get you?" Then she proceeded to say that my card didnt work... but then another employee was able to ring me up without issues. I complained to the man that was working with her about her poor customer service and he said "Im sorry you're having a bad day". Seriously? What kind of service is this? Your empanadas are great but im never coming again. read more

As for The Wild Detectives, the concept alone immediately appealed to me...bookstore meets cafe meets bar meets restaurant. That combination will pretty much always grab my attention. I love to read, I love to eat. The space has a pretty relaxed, community oriented vibe, and during my Saturday morning/early afternoon visit, there were plenty of people working, reading, chatting, and hanging out both inside and on the patio. My one slight disappointment was that the bookstore side itself was smaller than I expected and didn't have quite as extensive a selection as I had imagined. That said, I still managed to leave with a few great additions for my ever growing TBR pile. Overall, this was a worthwhile stop and one I may revisit the next time I'm in Dallas.

She came back a few minutes later with a hot beverage. It tasted weird so when I opened up the lid, I saw that there was no foamed milk. No milk at all. I went to the bar it quietly let her know that that wasn't what I ordered and that I was just going to leave She gave a Long stern look. I asked her if there was something wrong because she was looking at me like I was crazy Her response was "I've already made you two drinks and if you're gonna go then get out of here." "A manager would have made you pay" I order coffee beverages all the time if it's not made correctly that's fine no big deal. But she berated me in a loud voice so everyone in the café/bar could hear. She made some kind of grunting noise as I left. The entire time I was being polite, nice and just wanted latte. I do not enjoy being treated so disrespectfully when I did absolutely nothing wrong within the situation.

The ambiance was nice, they had rose pedals on all the tables and a live band playing that was taking request for songs. All in all it was a good experience, but definitely not worth almost $350. Not sure if their regular menu is as pricey, but I would be hesitant to dine here again if it is.

(OMG) The coffee was good, and the couches near the window provided a nice setting. A number of people sat at the small tables out on the sidewalk. The staff was very friendly. I understand that they are known for great empanadas, the service was alright. The space was alright. The neighborhood is cool. I ordered one of their frappes while my friends ordered latte. Reminded me of being back in San Francisco where the coffee is the BEST and the atmosphere is so laid back and chill. My cousin gave me advice to visit this café. Interior here is very modern, room is small but attracts with art pictures and wooden floor. I live not so far, that is why I've tried almost everything here. To my mind Frappuccino is the best. Service is always kind and nice.
