Positives: I found this cafe to to be pretty charming in a very eclectic and artsy part of town. The cold brew coffee was very good. No need for sugar or milk or anything like that. The brew was full bodied and rich. The vibe was very laid back. Definitely a great place to come and chill out after exploring the Bishop Arts District. I also enjoyed my arequipe empanada. It was buttery and flaky with just enough rich sweetness. Also, the prices seemed fair as well. Negatives: The service was just...awkward. It wasn't flat out hostile but I think the service could definitely be improved. I got a pretty disinterested vibe from the staff. It seemed pretty obvious that they would all prefer to elsewhere on a Saturday afternoon. Also, when I asked for a to-go box for my pastry, it literally took the girls behind the counter about five minutes to grab me one. I was trying to avoid an impending downpour and wanted to get a move on. I mean it would have seriously taken them five seconds to grab me a container. I guess they had better things to do. This place has a cute atmosphere and I hear it has been around for a long time. The coffee shop serves ice cream, baked goods, and has a wide variety of coffees, teas, and even boba! Tonight I had the hot chocolate since it was quite cold outside. It was definitely one of the best hot chocolate drinks I have ever had. I don't know what type of chocolate they put in it, but it tasted unique. The service is also quite fast and friendly. read more

Worst service ever! Asked for an empanada, about half an hour passed so I went to ask the girl about it (she was on her phone) she went to grab it from the oven and it was completely burnt. She threw it away didn't apologize or anything and just said she'll bring a new one to me and went back to her phone. If this isn't the closest thing to a European cafe, then I don't know what is! Leave it to the amazing Bishop Arts District to plant a wonderfully eclectic and adorable coffee shop in the mix of the bustling and locally divine district South of downtown. You have to be looking out for the spot or else I am afraid you would overlook it. Thank goodness for Yelp, or I wouldn't have had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious Chai Tea Latte and Acai Berry Smoothie. There was only one staff member manning the bar, but everything seemed to be running smoothly and efficiently, however what really stood out to me was his enthusiasm of working there. I wouldn't be surprised if it was his shop as he took so much pride in every step of his Barista process - from the warm, heartfelt greeting to his smile the whole way through the coffee making. It's contagious. I recommend going in the morning so you can start your day off right. The place is small with only a few small tables at the front, but there are three cozy couches that look out onto the quaint streets of Bishop Arts. The walls are decorated with European coffee ads while soothing Eastern European music plays softly in the background. I like it here! read more

I love the little strip this cafe is situated on. I'm not normally into pop art, but I did like their pop art-esque paintings that adorn their walls in the cafe. I really liked the double espresso I got. I didn't really like the bored, not really happy to be there service. My friend loved his coffee smoothie of sorts drink that he got. It's not a destination cafe for me, but if along this street and in need of an espresso fix. I wouldn't think twice about stopping in here again. read more

The moment our party started discussing the need for caffeine, lo and behold, Espumoso Caffe was there. It is as though we made them appear out of nowhere so in we went, especially since there was a "Best of Dallas" or something similar in the front. As it was a cold day, I ordered one of their frappes while my friends ordered latte. The drinks were alright. My frappe was overly sweet while the lattes did not impress my friends. Maybe they were just having an off day because we could not believe that the drinks we had was considered among the best in Dallas. The service was alright. The space was alright. This is for the espresso only: the place is chill and nice, the cashier was very friendly. Unfortunately, the barista has no idea how to pull a proper shot or correctly steam the milk. She let the shot go way past the point of appropriate extraction--getting into bitter territory, the milk was totally scalded with no microfoam. She didn't know how to pour, the list goes on. The whole thing was a mess and it's entirely a lack of training. Really sloppy barista skills. If you want well crafted espresso drinks, look elsewhere. read more

Bishop Arts needs a great coffee shop. I arrived at 8 on my commute to work this morning and ordered a double espresso. There was one guy at the coffee bar and the shop was absolutely sweltering. It took him at least 5 minutes to pull together the simplest coffee drink imaginable and then when I took a sip... There was no depth to the taste of the coffee. It was about as interesting as muddy water, and I could tell by the Lavazza advertising around the store that I been again robbed of a real cup by the tired, old-Italian-man sweat that Lavazza pedals to coffee drinkers across the globe. Love this little hole in the wall-ish coffee shop! I was killing time here and decided to stop in and cool off. I tried one of their iced chai lattes with almond milk. They have crushed ice! So good! They have an option for hemp milk which I really wanted to try but unfortunately they were sold out at the time. Pretty pastries in the pastry case as well! I haven't bought anything else from here except the flan. Once or ten times, that is! Yes, it is the best flan in Dallas. Makes me think of the Cuban flan I enjoyed in my grandmother's and aunt's kitchens or at La Carreta in Miami on Calle Ocho. If you like flan, stop in for a slice. If you don't like flan because it's too much like Jell-o, then you must try theirs. It's thick, creamy goodness that will leave your tongue with a bit of an erection. If you order it to go, be warned, the caramel sauce will find a way to leak out of the styrofoam container and the plastic bag into your car. Happened to me twice. I wanted to like this place. Perhaps we dropped in on an off day...I'll never know. There appeared to be one employee when we entered. She was helping a customer while a couple stood near the ice cream. Wanting ice cream as well, we assumed this is where we are to stand if you want ice cream. The couple eventually left and the single customer being helped turned into a long line. We moved to the line that had formed at the counter and proceeded to wait, and wait. I was still okay with waiting after having found a parking spot and two ice cream craving little boys, but then another couple came in from off the street and walked directly to the ice cream area and were immediately served. I told the employee i realized she was alone, but had waited at the ice cream without service and then got in line and still was not served whereas those two walked in and got helped right away. I then asked for clarification on just where I should be if I wanted ice cream. Strangely, she told me she was alone. Not a good first impression. read more

I L-L-LOVE this place! My boyfriend and I have been coming here for about 2-3 years now and its been consistently yummy. Their coffee,pastries, and their Acai bowl are always great and I recommend them to anyone! My favorite drink is their White Mocha! The only downside is we don't come here too often anymore due to the volume of people in such a small space. Usually, we avoid weekends and most of all Sunday mornings. Ordered what she recommended which was a cafe con leche, a blueberry muffin & hot chocolate (I know your thinking why order hot coco @ this exquisite coffee shop) it was for my brother which he gives a 3 (1-5). I rearranged my morning and made my friend wake up early to visit this cute place in this cool neighborhood. My first visit got me hooked on the iced coffee so I really don't want to try anything else. The only thing holding me back from a 5-Star review is the lack of breakfast options and the slow service. If I lived in Dallas I would probably only be able to go on the weekend when I don't have anywhere to be. I was there around 9A on a Wednesday and there was only 1 person working..... not good. A friend and I were wandering around the shops in the Bishop Arts District in 103 degree weather and lamenting the lack of coffeeshops until we came across Espumoso. It was a welcome respite- the coffee is pretty good (they carry Illy! And a fair trade bean that's pretty good too), and they offer smoothies, desserts, ice cream, and pastries (sweet and savory). The space is more "communal" in that the main seating area are a bunch of sleek sofas framed around the window seat. You can also sit at the tables outside. This is such a cool and hip cafe to come to. We had a 20 minute wait to have brunch around the corner, and as we were walking the strip we came across this place. It's small, but the seating is comfortable. There's a leather sofa, and a long window seat. I have no idea how any of their concoctions taste. We went for hot tea. They have about 8-10 different flavors. I was surprised that the only green tea they offered was a "Citron Green Tea". I ended up ordering that and it wasn't bad. I also got to taste the Pomegranate Oolong Tea, and it was really flavorful. I like places like this. It reminds me so much of Brooklyn. This is a standard indy coffee house with reasonably good coffee, service and ambience. Espumoso has an excellent location in the Bishop Arts District and is the only place like it in this immediate area as far as I can tell. There is nothing ultimately negative to say about this place but for a place that pretends to boast a Latin American theme, there just wasn't that much Latin or generally different about the place. Bare in mind; I did not eat so there might be some Latin flavor on the menu but the generally look of the place nor the coffee menu gave me much of a Latin feel. There are a few quirky features of this place but I found them more vexing than charming. After getting my coffee I could not find the milk. The counter became crowded so not being able to ask I looked around. The milk was kept in the cooller with bottled beverages. This is actually a very hygienic way to store milk but there was no sign and the barista did not tell me, so I had to stand there like a damned fool looking for milk for five minutes. Also, I believe this is the only coffee house without a restroom. If there was one t must have been through some knd of hidden door. read more

I didn't know what to order except I knew I wanted a frozen coffee drink...the person behind the counter suggested a smoothie with caramel, Irish cream flavor, espresso topped with whip and more caramel drizzle. Very nice guy and very hospitable. The drink was fabulous! A BONUS are the COLOMBIAN STAPLES offered. These are items you would find in any Colombian establishment but sadly not here in Dallas. Despite my ex-husband being Colombian, I love the culture and food. They have EMPANADAS (a good alternative to a hot dog or boring hamburger) and batidas (smoothies) made from real fruits that are not typically found in the US. My favorite is the batida de maracuya (PASSION FRUIT SMOOTHIE). Yes, passion fruit is a real fruit! I will to return to try their desserts=TRES LECHES and FLAN!! I love this place so much, I am not really sure why I have fallen for this place... I think one of the reasons why I love this place so much is that it is very cute inside....I want say corky but I'm not sure if that is the correct word or not. The interior is kind of what they could find but it works really well...from the mismatch chairs & tables it feels as if you at your college friends house gossiping and enjoying good cup of joe. Another reason why I love this place is the coffee...I live in this area and have tried almost all the coffee spots and this one to me is the best...I always get a vanilla latte and it's the best damn latte ever.....
