I've been wanting to try Ethio since Christmas Eve and finally did yesterday. I ordered the Vegetarian Feast, and it was absolutely delicious. I've only had African food once before, so I am no expert on the cuisine, but everything was wonderful. The woman who helped me was incredibly kind and took the time to explain everything, which I really appreciated. I love the fusion concept--it's the perfect place to bring friends who are hesitant to try new cuisines. I'll definitely be back and look forward to dining in next time. Highly recommend! read more

This place is absolutely wonderful! Everyone here is so kind and welcoming. The chef even came out at the end of our meal to personally make sure everything was perfect, which was such a nice touch. I am glad to see Ethio opening up on this side of town. I usually order delivery from little Ethiopia but now there's a closer option. The owners are soooo nice. I believe they used to run a wine store in the palisades but lost it to the fire. I loved the Ethiopian style coffee. My faves so far are the lamb dish and the veggie platter. Ingredients are super fresh. I'm told the chef makes the injera herself from scratch. Looking forward to trying more of the menu. read more

Very quaint, clean restaurant and then to top everything off the Ethiopian coffee on top of their ice cream was so delicious. We came here to see what an Ethiopian restaurant that also serves Italian food might be like. Happy to report it is amazing. For four adults and two kids we got the vegetarian combo, the beef mereqe tibs, and the lamb stew. For the kids we got a Caesar salad and a small cheese pizza. Everything was excellent. A+++++. Just returned from our Mothers Day Dinner at ETHIO. It is our new favorite Ethiopian restaurant and probably favorite restaurant in general. From the food to the ambiance to the service, it was 5 star all the way. A bonus was having the opportunity to talk to the owner/head cook, an impressive, lovely and generous woman. We learned how healthy and pure are the ingredients she uses. And her love for cooking and cuisine. We never would have known, but it shows up in the food!.... My wife and I are both picky eaters for different reasons - I want healthy, my wife insists upon great taste. This was a win for both of us, as well as our 7 year old son, who was even given special treatment. It was our first time at ETHIO, but we will now become regulars!... We gave this neighborhood Ethiopian restaurant a try and let me tell you neighbors, it is fantastic! I invite you all to try it soon. This is the previous Louise's and Vicini location. The owner/female chef greeted us with such warmth and sweetness and reflected the food she served. For those of you who love Ethiopian food and have traveled to Fairfax for your fix, we have an opportunity here to eat it often, healthy and well. Try the vegetables and the various wats, especially the vegetarian and chicken. Since many knew it as an Italian restaurant they offer some pastas and bread to satisfy everyone. I did not try the Italian food and we concentrated on the Ethiopian and were rewarded greatly. Went for their opening, the food was incredibly delicious. I got the Awazi Tibs and my wife got the Yebeg Wot, my son got the Spicy Ethio Pasta, and my daughter got lasagna. went here for brunch with my stepdad and the food was so delicious! we got ethiopian coffee and a vegetarian combo plate with extra injera and we literally cleaned the plate AND 3 servings of injera. you can tell the owners really care about the food they're making, the head chef even came out to chat with us and tell us about the ingredients and where it comes from, and even told us a story about her dad who lived to 98 eating only their family's ethiopian food. we will definitely be back! it's a big space that deserves to be filled with lots of locals who care. i hope they stay open for a long time and that the westside appreciates having yummy ethiopian much closer than fairfax!! i know i sure do!! read more

If I could give this restaurant 10 stars I would. The food was divine and hospitality was gracious. I have been to many Ethiopian restaurants over the decades but this was by far the best! We ordered the vegan combination platter and the garbanzo stew and I know I will be dreaming about the flavors of both. One unusual aspect of this restaurant is that they also serve some of the Italian dishes from the Louise's that was at this location before. This meant that those in our party who do not eat Ethiopian food were able to enjoy Italian fare. We all left extremely full and happy. Do not pass up the opportunity to dine here. I rarely write Yelp reviews but after dinner here I wanted to step up and offer my appreciation and best wishes. We were greeted by Yoseph and Tabi, the owners, who were both so welcoming and helpful. The meal consisted of lentil soup, lamb, chicken, and vegetables, all on a tray covered with injera (it's gluten free!) to wrap each bite. The flavors were terrific and not too spicy. Honey wine was interesting -- more like a spirit than a wine. We will be back. read more
