This place was sooooo good. We had a reservation at a different place made 3 months in advance, but it was so bad we decided to go elsewhere. Etta was just the place. It was super busy, but they seemed to want our business and have their act together. They prepped our table immediately after the previous party left and they were so friendly and helpful. We didn't even wait 2 minutes after we called about our previous disappointing experience leaving us to find another place to celebrate a milestone birthday. The food was fantastic and we enjoyed the various recommendations made by the staff. They were attentive and fun and provided a memorable experience (including pictures with their old time Polaroid camera). The food was fantastic and the energy of the place and attitudes of the staff were so positive. We had such a great time! Highly recommend Jessi and Casey! The online menu is not what is being served in the actual restaurant. There were 19 items listed on the online menu and not served in the actual restaurant. The dishes my husband and I wanted were not listed so we settled on pasta. Which was under cooked and tasteless. Only good part of the night was our waiter, if it wasn't for him I'd leave 1 star... Our meal was perfectly executed the night we went. We shared a burrata and beet salad, the pork picnic, and mashed potatoes, which were incredibly rich. I enjoyed the dim lighting and comfy booth seating. Here's where I'll begin this review, the restaurant itself, the food, cocktails and ambiance is amazing! It's the staff and service that is lacking. We've been here on several occasions and we always leave thinking it was good but the service was okay and after our last visit last week we won't be coming back. We had a not great experience, our waiter took care of a few things after we had complained after he brought our check and even after he had to have a manager assist no one came over to try to help. I even emailed them to tell them about our most recent experience with no reply. As I stated above Etta is beautiful, the food and drinks are top notch but your paying a premium and the service is not that. Just had the most magnificent meal at Etta. My boyfriend and I made a reservation for date night. The ambiance is laid back but upscale. I can't think of any way to dress this up, so I'll put it simply: this is one of the best meals I've ever had. Every dish was its own exploration of unique, savory flavor. Everything we ordered seemed to pair perfectly with everything else (save for the glass of wine I ordered which was perhaps just not my taste). Our service was impeccable (THANK YOU NICK!). A list of all that we ordered and all that we loved: Ricotta pillows - creamy but not heavy with the right amount of truffle Kale salad - never occurred to me to mix sesame oil with a salad but the combination was incredible Asparagus - tasted so good that I have no qualms with the inevitable asparagus pee smell I will no doubt have later tonight Potato purée - the texture and taste were everything Wagyu sirloin with bone marrow - though difficult to choose a favorite, this was it. We kept cutting our bites smaller and smaller because we never wanted it to end. Cooked to perfection at medium rare Chocolate cake and tea for dessert - salty, peanut butter, chocolatey goodness. Equal parts delicious and sinful, but not too rich to finish. I barely spoke to my boyfriend during dinner, which is rare because I actually like him and what he has to say. Reservations are a must... as they told us they will book 100% capacity by reservation. We were limited in selection of times because it was the same day. So it was 5pm or 8:45... opted we opted for 5. We were seated immediately by a friendly hostess, in a very roomy booth in the main dining room. Ordered cocktails and apps. Craft Cocktails are very good and the attention to details is obvious. For appetizers we got the rack-roasted oysters which were very small but tasty. We also enjoyed the octopus and ricotta pillows. The reason for our visit however was the Cacio de Pepe aka. bucatini, we first had this dish in Rome and had heard it was really good here at etta... but it was just ok... but hey, this is Arizona... not Italy. We also had the yummy brussel sprouts, Branzino & hearth grilled bavette. Everything is served as it becomes ready, kind of like a small plate/tapa style. For dessert we had the "cannoli" but were disappointed they do not have espresso or cappuccino, according to the person delivering our food they "are not an Italian restaurant" ok, well now I know. ***update*** after sharing my review Ashley M. the Business Manager commented, as you can see below. As requested, I emailed her but I did not get a response so I messaged her on Yelp- no response to that either. It feels like the comments on Yelp are unfortunately just for show. It's too bad, I wanted to chat with her and give them another try, oh well. Not sure what's going on at Etta... Our server basically made it clear to us that she 1. Didn't want to be at work or 2. Just didn't want to be serving us. At least the manager and hostess were both very nice, unfortunately the majority of our interaction was with our less then thrilled to be at work server. We were literally the only people on the patio (the one in the back with a/c) but maybe she just didn't want to walk over there? We had to flag someone else down to even get us the check so we could leave. The branzino was not good/ the one at Francine's is much better. At Etta the branzino was soggy and lacked flavor. The pizza was exceptionally greasy. I've never had a pizza that sat in so.much.grease. We were really looking forward to trying this place as the patio in the back is covered and temperature controlled and allows dogs- it's too bad that our server was terrible and the food wasn't great. If the service was good but the food was lacking we would go back and try different items off of the menu. However when both are bad that leaves very little motivation to return. We ordered a bottle of wine and 20 minutes later someone else came by and said they were actually out of that so we ordered a glass of wine and a beer instead. Very impressed at how smoothly everything ran on a Friday night, considering this concept is brand new to Scottsdale. Stopped in for lunch after some Sunday shopping, and this place was just awesome. We loved the interior design, the kitchen had an open design so you could see everyone cooking your meal. The place smells amazing when you first walk in, super clean, and service was great. We started with an order of oysters that were very delicious, 4 came in a single order. Our skinny margaritas were the perfect Sunday afternoon refreshment and the straws had a very relatable of a saying on them. Lol we also had the chicken sandwich that I thought was absolutely amazing and the Daviola pizza which I would not recommend. It was VERY greasy-- so much the middle of the pie was greasy. Pizzas aren't their strong suit here but everything else smacked. Still strongly recommend this place for drinks and a snack or even dinner. Went there for a lunch. The food, cocktails, service and ambiance were nice. HOWEVER, the music was loud and obnoxious like in a nightclub. It was hard for us to have a conversation. For lunch, it also wasn't appropriate for the ambiance the restaurant is striving for. We mentioned it to the waitress and she said she thought so too, but the manager allows whomever to choose the music. We also mentioned it to the receptionist and they said "to each his own." We then told them it is so bad that it doesn't make us want to come back. How a restaurant handles feedback says a lot, especially since there were less than 10 people there that day. We just went for Mothers Day Brunch & and will never go again. Food was awful & butting, Waitress was MIA most of the time due to being full. Atmosphere is cute and was the only thing I enjoyed. $50.00 per person and our meals choice were for 5 different items I did the avocado toast & my husband and kids a smash burger meal... Now, I can sort of see that on a busy Friday or Saturday night during peak Phoenix season. But this was for noon. On a Tuesday. In May. We've been here 3 times. The first time was over the top. Loved it! Our server Adam made the experience very pleasant and wanting to come back. The last 2 times were not even close to the experience we had on our first visit. When checking in we requested Adam as our server, only to find out he was no longer there. Both times since our first visit have been mostly the same. Our servers seemed disinterested, order takers with no personality......almost as if "Eeyore" was taking your order. On our second visit we were discussing how the service was not like our first visit. They were less attentive but noticed a very large table not far from us where the service was fantastic, servers swooning over the table, numerous people checking on their visit.....only to find out the person at the table was a "social influencer"........seriously!? Etta sacrificed the service at other tables only to swoon over a self proclaimed social influencer. This type of behavior is not acceptable. The food is very good and above average which is why we returned for a third time. Okay, Etta.......a "healthcare tax" imposed on our bill. We did not pay attention on our first 2 visits but were told to check for it.........and there it was on our third visit. Come on, this is the cost of doing business and as one other reviewer stated, do we subtract this from our lack luster service tip. All in all, the food is good, not the greatest service.
