I LOVE the Etta restaurants in Chicago. I've never had a bad meal and was looking so forward to trying the Etta in Scottsdale with friends. Sadly, I was VERY disappointed. First, the waiter told us that entrees are meant for sharing. I ordered bucatini and the serving was VERY scant. Given that pasta doesn't cost that much, I was surprised that the chef would choose to skimp on a pasta. Plus - there is NO WAY that this serving size was meant to be shared! The pizza, especially the mushroom pizza, is always one of my favorites in Chicago's Ettas. This pizza was burnt and very dry. It was completely different than the pizzas I'm used to from Etta. The octopus was good. The pasta bolognese was good and the serving size was better than my bucatini. Finally, the restaurant was VERY loud. Disappointing. read more

My favorite thing to get is the smash burger with the sesame bun. It's still on the menu as usual so I ordered it for brunch. It came out on a burnt brioche bun. When I asked the waiter about the change he said "the chef just prefers it this way" and walked away. We were 1 of 2 tables on Saturday morning and the service was extremely slow and our waiter wasn't friendly. So disappointed and we won't be returning. read more

Love the place! Great atmosphere, amazing staff, and amazing food. We got the little gem as an appetizer along with ricotta pillows. For main course we had the AMAZING wild mushroom pizza. Arrived and was pleased with location, and decor. Our party of four ordered 2 pizzas, buratta, bread,and the little gem salad. Bread and salad were fine (salad was under dressed) but that was resolved with extra dressing. The bread was very good, and butter with honey and truffle Was great. The problem was the pizza. The pizza was very hard to chew, and was not particularly tasty, crust was hard and it was an all around disappointment. The waitress was only pleasant at the end when we received the check (aka Tip Time). Most of the time she seemed annoyed with our questions. The music is way too loud. We had elderly people who could hardly participate in conversation. Pretty awful and very frustrating. There is much work to be done. read more

Met with friends for the first time at newly opened etta. We knew being in North Scottsdale that the prices would be a premium, but left a bit disappointed. When they advertise "etta is an affordable neighborhood restaurant that serves delicious wood-fired food..." I'm not sure affordable is the best choice of words. When we ordered, our waiter informed our table that the food is "family style" so we almost questioned ourselves on how much to order. However, the ravioli dish include 6 total ravioli. It was good, but luckily we ordered more food because it wasn't enough to be a complete meal, nor would I consider it the traditional "family style" which would feed multiple people. In fact, the table beside us ordered a single plate and it was somewhat comedic watching each person literally get one ravioli to share among the party. We also had a pizza which was good, as well as the olive oil cake and cannoli sandwich. Overall, the interior was really nice, and the food was good, but you're paying a premium for what you get. We'd maybe go back for a special occasion, but you can get just as decent pizza and pasta elsewhere especially for the price. read more

We had a lovely dinner tonight at etta. First off I will say that I'm a big fan of Maple & Ash and Danny Grant (exec chef), so I have eagerly anticipated this opening. I made a reservation a week or so ago and enlisted friends who like to try new restaurants to join me. We were not disappointed. The decor is lovely: white washed brick and vines throughout. We sat in the dining room at a great booth and felt like we had one of the best spots in the house. Our waitress was lovely and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. They have only been open a day or two so I expected some rough patches, but there weren't any. On to food.......the chicken with the pan drippings was spectacular and the steak - I'd order that again in a heartbeat. For veggies the asparagus was super tasty and more surprisingly the white bean with greens was amazing - it was in a chicken broth/garlic/butter/tomato sauce that you just want to slurp down -- seriously, you need to order it. Only downside is that it needs two more pieces of focaccia bread, what comes with the order is too skimpy. The pastas.....I was super excited for the ricotta pillows as I adore the "pillows of love" at Maple & Ash - these were not as good, more doughy. And, the cacio e pepe is better at Fat Ox. Don't get me wrong, these pastas are good dishes, but there are other things on the menu I think you will enjoy more. Overall, we had a great dinner and can't wait to go back. Before ending this, I want to say that our waitress was amazing and very well trained. I wish I had her name as I'd like to recognize what a great job she did. I come with very mixed reviews. I will say, the food was great and the restaurant was stunning. But the drinks were very lack luster & what restaurant doesn't have espresso for espresso martinis or espresso with dessert? Even letting that slide, each cocktail left something to be desired. I would recommend sticking with the wine as the wine list was quite good. Maybe they are still working out some kinks in the drink menu, as it did not match the refined food menu. read more

Decent but probably would not return. The appetizers were delicious, you definitely have to try to focaccia with truffle butter. I got the mushroom pizza and it was just ok - had one slice and decided that was enough. Service was decent and the restaurant was very nicely decorated. The restaurant was so loud that my parents couldn't hear a word that we were saying, so we ate dinner mostly without talking. Really the only thing my friend and I enjoyed was the focaccia, which I do recommend trying! However the steak frites and the vodka pasta were just ok. Not worth the money. We also saw our server only 3 times, having to ask another worker for a sauce that was forgotten and then another worker for the check after waiting 40 minutes following finishing our food. Happy Hour is actually pretty decent....... Diavola & Hotter Than Hell pizzas are good....... My wife likes the Ceasar Salad & Meatballs....... Bad Hombre is the only cocktail I've had at Etta, but it's pretty good. I have not ate in the dining area, so no full menu experience. However, each experience has been good. Service has done a good job staying on top of drink & food orders, and I do like how chill the bar area can be. Although, HH can get busy. read more

Excellent service and drinks. We had Kevin as our server and he made great recommendations. We had the kale salad and the little gem salad. We also had the steak frites which were great. One of our favorite parts was the focaccia with ricotta, honey and black truffle. Great ambiance. Thank you Kevin and Etta for a great lunch. Above ALL, our favorite thing was the ambiance. The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because the food was just okay. From wrong orders to not even telling our friend his steak is being remade after sitting there for over 20 minutes after everyone's food already arrived. The service was horrendous, I don't know if it was our servers first day but it was pretty terrible. It took about an hour just to get our checks split correctly and in the end we had to go to the computer screen and split it correctly ourselves, doing the servers job. The restaurant was NOT busy at all either so I couldn't even imagine if it was. Overall horrible experience. read more

Visited again, and I was the second person in the door when they opened. I ordered a bottle of wine, they claimed they did not have it so they suggested a bottle $40-$50 more, I said NO. I wound up ordering a glass of Italian wine. I ordered a Caesar salad, it arrived with no dressing. It took +-28 minutes to arrive. At that point I left, sad to say. The waitress was excellent. Unprofessional restaurant. Ordered take out. Est time ready was 6:30pm and by 7:30 we haven't heard back. Called three times for an update on food to three different girls- Isabella, Jordan and another one. Each said they would check on status and ended up hanging up on us after being on hold for 10 minutes each time. When we finally texted to cancel order we got a call back right away that our order was ready. By the time we got there, food was cold. Would never order from this place again. read more

Decent restaurant, but slow service due to lack of manpower. They also use metal straws which is ridiculous and horrible for your teeth. Please use plastic or plant based straws. Paper straws are a joke! That's the only disappointment with the establishment. read more

I don't leave a ton a reviews but tonight I had such a great experience at Etta that I had to take the time. We stopped in for dinner and had the lamb gnocchi. It was presented beautifully and it was the kind of plate where you grab bread to soak up all the sauce when you're done. So good. Also what made them think to prepare asparagus like this?? Sliced and grilled with lemon, mint and a small amount of Italian cheese shredded over top. Why can't all vegetables taste like this? My friend had the meatballs, which were also fantastic. Great flavor and came w plenty of the delicious sauce and grilled bread. Surprisingly good for such a simple-sounding dish. But by far the best part of the experience was the vibe in the place and the service. It is good to see that great servers are still alive and well. Our server Lexi was a delight and made us feel like ours was was the most important table in the restaurant. We appreciated her recommendations and very positive vibe. I hope she is recognized for her contributions. I definitely recommend Etta and will return soon. read more

I have been here multiple times hoping to love it and I just do not. I get it, we're in north Scottsdale where things are pricey and high end, however the quality of the food and drinks here does NOT match the price. We ordered a pizza, drinks and Brussels sprouts. The pizza (hotter than hell) was delicious. The margaritas ($17), tasted like the sweet and sour mix that comes in a plastic bottle from Costco. And the Brussel sprouts were really undercooked and tasted very tough. However the staff and service here is wonderful, and the ambiance is great too. But I would not personally recommend this place or take out of town visitors here. read more
