I hit up Eureka! twice on my short visit to Austin. We stayed primarily for a drink and some apps. The atmosphere is great, but both times we visited they seemed very short on wait staff... like very short, and the restaurant was only about 25% full. Everyone was scrambling, doing the best they could, but you can't help but feel the stress of a taxed waitstaff. The burgers were SO good! We went for lunch, so there was no live music that other reviewers have mentioned. Not sure if they were short-staffed or that's just how they operate during lunch hours, but our server also was working the bar for a bit. Our service didn't suffer thankfully, but it may have affected dining parties around us. It's not a huge restaurant, but they have different types of tables/seating. The ambiance was quite lovely, the lights were appropriately dimmed and the staff spoke in a perfect tone. Our server immediately came and got our drink order within a minute of us being seated. We started with drinks and the Ahi appetizer. We got the blood orange cider and the Wild Child without the habanero salt. The beverages were quite refreshing and the ahi starter was divine. We then moved onto the entrees which were the Buffalo Burger and the Fresno Fig substitute yellow mustard for the spicy mustard and no onions. Service was fast and everyone was kind and welcoming. We were seated on a high top near the bar which was perfect for watching multiple football games at once. The food was ok and pricey. I got the wings with the dry rub. The wings come 7 for $17. Why? lol the taste was ok. I ended up asking for bbq sauce to make them better. My partner got the bison burger with sweet potato fries. His burger was dry. He also asked for additional sauce to enhance the taste. We shared the Brussels sprouts. These were good. Very flavorful but a small plate. Gave this place a second try while this bartender was a little more friendly the menu ie untapped and in house chalk board again not up to date. Asked for sour that's listed on untapped and on chalk board and got told they have not had it in months both times. And wanted to try rotating handle again listed both on untap and chalk board and it was agin out. This review is based on the burger I had. I ordered the Classic American Burger with added bacon and a side of fries. The burger came out hot and fresh--the cheese was nicely melted and the bacon was just the right amount of crispy. It came out just as I ordered it, cooked medium. The fries were crispy and good as well. We had two servers, one of them being trained by the other. They were very nice and super attentive throughout the meal. It was my first time visiting this establishment during my trip to Austin, Texas. At first, entering the restaurant has a modern twist on an old western saloon bit, incorporating a modern touch to its interior. The servers were delightful and swift. Some of their "Crispy Glazed Brussels Sprouts" as an appetizer, "Eureka! American", and "Napa Chicken Sandwich". One thing I like that no people like is any form of charmlamized or seasonal Brussels sprouts, which I was excited to see on the menu. Not many restaurants can master the proper texture for the vegetables. I ate those things as if they were chips. They were nicely cooked and soft to chew into, yet "crispy," as the name states. My boyfriend I came in for a very late dinner. We started with the cocktails: industry Margarita, and the floor is lava. For an app we shared the ahi poke stack. The cocktails were very good. The app was good but the black rice at the bottom was unexpected/a little weird. It also came with tortilla and wonton chips which was also a little weird. We were able to get a reservation here. Seating went smoothly. The waitress was a little confusing when we asked for separate checks. They only wanted to do four checks but we were a party of 6. It was odd because at the end of the meal she gave us the amount of checks we wanted so not sure why it was made into a big deal. My cocktail the wild child was very tasty and well balanced. About the only place on 6th Street that had quiet dining it has an old industrial style ambience with reclaimed wood all around. A large list of whiskey, beer and wine. I had a Caymus red blend which was excellent. My wife and I shared their house salad to start. It was above average and the vinaigrette they used really added flavor without being too bold. We also shared the bison burger with the hot pepper on the side. It's a good thing we did, because wife said it was HOT! The burger was cooked perfectly and the rest of the toppings along with the toasted brioche bun made it above average too. We opted for the sweet potato fries which had a sweet seasoning. There are quite a few "honky tonk" bars serving drinks on 5th, the party street. Eureka is the local upscale burger bar. It has some trendiness with the bone marrow burger, but my plain old American cheeseburger did the trick. You can get a find some good microbrews and the bar is staffed with bartenders who are mixologists. It's a nice oasis from the party atmosphere. read more

Just what I needed after landing in Austin. Had a couple of hours before my meeting and needed to fuel up. This place is smack in the middle of all the action, and extreme homelessness. I had the burger, so I'm sure there's still more to try here. Decor-open and airy. Much larger inside then it looks from the outside. It reminds me of an upscale farmers market meets a cool bbq joint. Service-was good, nothing to complain about. Food-it was a solid burger. Good size, decent portion of fries.
