Wafels & Dinges is a Belgian-inspired waffle spot that specializes in sweet waffles, desserts, and…read moredrinks. Located in a convenient city setting, we walked up to a space that works well as a quick stop for a treat while exploring nearby attractions. The setup has more of a casual street food feel, with a counter-focused layout that keeps the focus on the waffles being made fresh behind the glass. The energy is fast-paced and approachable, the kind of place where the line moves steadily and the staff handle the rush with efficiency. The waffles are the main highlight, especially the Liege-style waffles that have a richer texture and slightly sweeter flavor compared to regular breakfast waffles. The build-your-own options make it easy to customize with toppings like strawberries, chocolate, whipped cream, and other sweet additions, and the variety across the menu gives you room to try different combinations on repeat visits. The s'mores waffle and churro waffle are especially fun choices because they turn the waffle into more of a full dessert experience rather than just a snack, with the toppings adding layers of texture and flavor that keep the waffle from feeling one-dimensional. The hot chocolate is another standout item, with a rich and creamy texture and a deeper chocolate flavor that makes it a great pairing with the waffles, especially on a colder day. The drink menu also adds variety with options like chai and coffee-based drinks for those looking for something less dessert-focused. The biggest thing to consider is timing. Locations near busy areas like Bryant Park can get crowded, especially during peak seasons and events, and the staff handle the rush well, but seating and table availability can be limited when there are larger crowds. Since it is more of a grab-and-go style spot, it is best suited for a quick dessert break rather than a long café visit, and the team manages the flow without losing the friendly, approachable energy that fits the concept. Wafels & Dinges is a great place to satisfy a sweet craving. The fresh waffles, creative toppings, and rich hot chocolate make it a fun dessert stop, especially when you are looking for something more unique than a standard waffle, offering a treat that feels both playful and satisfying without overcomplicating the experience.

There were patrons that placed their orders after me that got their food before me. I checked in multiple times and was told, "It's not ready yet". When I finally got my things I was disappointed. They didn't taste bad but they were pretty basic, and for the price it's definitely not worth it. Definitely a skip.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. I would return to Friedman's when I'm in the Herald Square area, or check out one of their other locations in the city.

The Benedict was so delicious. I've never had it on a crispy hash brown type before. It was good and a massive portion. Mac and cheese was alright, though I would probably opt out of it next time. I was so full I totally forgot to drink my latte but the latte was good too. Ambiance was nice clean and very busy.

Best way put, there's a ton of personality on the inside. As for the food...everything was very very good. Village eateries helmed by power-chef duo Jody Williams and Rita Sodi; four are within a block of each other. I passed the other three (Bar Pisellino, Via Carota, I Sodi) on my way and all had lines out the door. Carota and Sodi are Italian, Buvette is French. There are 2 other Buvettes in Asia and one coming soon in London. Buvette does not do reservations. Buvette is a charming but tiny/cramped space, made more tiny within the last year by NYC's removal of pandemic-era street patios which greatly helped dining capacity. Buvette may sometimes have a few front sidewalk tables, and there's a tiny outdoor patio in the back. The tables and dishware are also tiny. There's a kitchen in the back, but some food is also prepared below the bar in front, where there seem to be some ovens. The food seems reliably consistent here. The menu is short but there are daily specials. I ordered a non-alcoholic ginger soda, crab tartine (a special), lobster a l'Americaine (lobster pot pie) and frites. The soda is always on the menu and is refreshing, with a nice snap of ginger. The crab tartine was fab, a fresh crab salad with avocado atop toast. The lobster pot pie was made in the under-bar oven, a small serving of lobster and veggies with a golden puff pastry topper. Delish. The frites were nicely crisp, served with an aioli. Service was okay, but my hot food took about 45 minutes to come out, apparently because my ticket was lost. Overall a pleasant meal, my first during this visit.
