Great place for a quick lunch and you can eat outside in the neighboring Twin Pines Park! The menu is all vegan and there is only take out but Falafelle does not disappoint. Service is quick and the food and drinks are delicious. I tried the pomegranate ice tea which was perfect. If you love tart drinks, I highly recommend it. The mango milk was also great. It tasted like silky mango. Then for the food, I got the hummus and baba ganouj appetizers. Both were well seasoned and the baba ganouj had a nice level of smokiness. I love meals with a bit of everything to try so the falafelle combo was perfect for this. If you love pickled veggies, this is the meal for you. Lastly, the pita was insanely fluffy. It was divine. Came across Falafelle while I was looking for a place for lunch and I was curious about how it was probably the only place in the Peninsula that had 5 stars. Falafelle is definitely a hidden gem. It's a little hole in the wall that you probably would miss if you were just walking around the area. Getting to Falafelle is pretty straight forward. Its in the Safeway plaza at Belmont and is pretty hard to miss. Theres plenty of parking in that plaza as well, so its easy to access. Can't really say much about the ambiance. Especially since I ordered pickup. The service was kind of a mixed bag unfortunately, which probably has something to do with the online ordering. When I came to pick up my order, the person gave me the wrong order. Luckily, I looked at the bag and the receipt while I was walking back and noticed that it had the wrong name. They eventually gave me the right order, but it is kind of hard to overlook that little blunder they had. Will have to deduct a star because of that. Hopefully I'll have a more pleasant experience when I go again. The food on the other hand was incredible. i was surprised with how good the pita pocket was. The pita pocket is basically a felafel sandwich with a mini salad inside of it. It was really delicious and the portion size was really good too. The pricing was super cheap as well (~$14), so I absolutely have no complaints about it. Overall, this hidden gem is absolutely worth coming out to Belmont for. Falafelle has become one of our go-to restaurants on the Peninsula. The food is always fresh and delicious, and they give so much variety and quantity in each order. Plus, it's really affordable and quick. They also now have a big screen that you can use to order out front, which makes it easy to order and pay. Their Container is our favorite order. It's a plate comprised of falafel, hummus, and tons of vegetables. Their falafel is flavorful and always incredibly crispy without being heavy or greasy, since they're air fried, and the hummus is super creamy and smooth. And topping everything off (literally) are generous heaps of fresh and pickled vegetables, and each adds a nice texture and flavor to the entire dish. Plus, you can customize the spice level to suit you, though the spicy level is our preference because it balances well with the creamy and acidic flavors from the other parts of the meal. You can also add a pita for a small upcharge, and doing so definitely adds something to the meal, but the Container by itself is filling and satisfying. This is probably the only place I go to that does not serve meat, which says a lot about how good it is. It's not that I dislike veggies, I really enjoy them, but often feel like a meal isn't complete or still leaves me hungry if there isn't some kind of protein like steak/chicken/fish/etc. My portions are often ridiculous too which may be part of it, but I often have 2 large meals instead of having 3-5 (with snacks) like most people. Why the hell do they not include even one tiny piece of pita with this dish? I find this ridiculous. I was disappointed that the falafels are drowned in tahini. Whether you order to eat in-house or to-go, no falafel will have the culinary integrity to withstand sauces and stay crispy. The taste of the falafel to me is average, at most. I also don't feel like the pieces of falafel themselves were made to order, so they might be a bit stale, which may be reason for sauce, since this would cover a pre-made falafel. We were hiking in the area and I knew that it was the perfect time to stop by (this has been bookmarked for a while). We walked up and placed our order and it came out super fast. I also really enjoyed the sauerkraut and other pickled veggies although all the sides were great. There is nothing like a hyped up eatery. When a spot becomes super trendy we take immediate note, but it's 50/50 they do not live up to the hype. In this case Falafelle more than lives up to the hype. Located on Ralston Avenue in downtown Belmont, this whole in the wall spot is serving up the best falafel I have yet to have in the Bay Area. The menu is simple. You can have anything you want as long as its falafel. They have two plates and a pita. Its 'chipotle style" with you picking out what you want on the side. Wanting to try as much as possible, we went with the two plates. (both ordered spicy) Hummus: Thick and creamy, it tasted nice and fresh. It was more on the mild side than I care for but still good. Falafel: Quarter sized balls that are cooked to order. I was super concerned when they were brought to put on out plates, they were clinking around in the pan. Most times that means overcooked. Not here. They crunchy exterior gave way to a warm but moist center. Lots of greens and cumin on the palate. The texture was spot on as well. But it was the byplay between the hard crunchy shell with the soft interior that won me over. Best falafel I have had in the Bay Area hands down. Tabouli: It was good. Had a high greens to grain ratio than most but was fresh and tasty. Dolmeh: The interior was slightly sweet but the filling was good. The grape leaf stayed intact and it was a nice one (I much prefer the savory ones my mom made but then again who wouldn't) Pita: we ordered two on the side and were not disappointing. These are not your typical dry store bought pita's. These were thick and pillowly, and had a fantastic taste to them by themselves. I could eat a whole mean of these with beer. So spicy does not really mean spicy here. It was mode mild/medium in my pantheon of heat but I digress...... Service was friendly and on point at all times. This is more of a to go place given its limited seating but the crew of 3 were moving and covered a lot of territory in the small kitchen. SO the downsides? Not many. I get so excited going to 5-star yelp reviewed places with hundreds of reviews haha. I came here with Christine B. on a Wednesday a little before 6pm and there was no line. We both ordered the Falafelle Combo. With this, you basically get a little bit of everything. The falafel balls, beets, house salad, and hummus were the best parts. I realized I am not a fan of parsley so I didn't like the tabbouleh, but I am not one to waste food so I still ate it all up haha. I just made sure to have every bite with some falafel. The dolma is like rice wrapped in grape leaves with a vinegary taste to it. I ordered my combo spicy and it wasn't too spicy (which is perfect for me). The sauces they drizzled over were delicious. The food was satisfying but I felt the prices were a bit steep for it being vegetarian. I probably would've been better off with the pita pocket. I got the $8 pita pocket for my partner and the $15 falafel platter. My falafel platter was cold and it came with no bread OR rice - it was essentially a container with a mix of different salads, with hummus in the middle and six small falafel on top, covered in sauce. The falafel I got were cold, small, and soggy; I picked them up 15 minutes after ordering on GrubHub. The falafel were about tablespoon size and had a mushy texture because they had been doused in sauce. Their texture was unremarkable. The hummus was thick, a little smoky, and a little creamy - not bad. The hummus was definitely not great. I prefer a more zesty / lemon-y / citrus-y hummus. Theirs was just one-note. Additionally, the beets and peppers and cabbage were all bland. Even the horseradish stuff was bland. I am just confused because for $15, I expect at the least: - give you one piece of pita or dollop of rice - give you larger falafel - give you HOT or CRISPY falafel I won't be back, unfortunately. read more

You can choose if you want it mild, medium, or spicy (I chose mild, which was not spicy at all). It is vegan, and comes with 5 falafel balls, cabbage, sauerkraut, roasted red peppers, pickled turnips, sumac onions, pickled cucumbers, and banana peppers. For additional cost, you can add hummus, tabbouleh, feta, baba ghannouj, labneh (not vegan), dolma, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, avocado, or spicy basmati rice. I went with the default with no additional toppings and it was delicious! I was concerned about it being dry but the tahini dressing was more than enough. The fresh crunch of the veggies also balanced out the denser falafel balls. 5/5! My sisters each ordered a "container," which was a much larger portion.
