We had not eaten here in about 1 yr and with the BBQ beef they would put a small amount of coleslaw on the sandwich and it would come with a side but now they nickel and dime you for everything no coleslaw and no more side dish now they are extra expense and honestly the beef was dry, bread was dry, it was not a good experience at all. I do not recommend this business. I don't eat out that often cause I'm so tired of the average person getting our wallets squeezed out even more. I was a bit upset about my experience. I got online to order specifically choosing the Tucson location. Many of the items online are not available in the store. So, I was planning to spend about $30 and ended up spending about $50. Yes, I was able to eat from my meal four times but it's a lot to spend on carry out. In addition, if you have visited one of the other locations, it's quite a bit smaller. My son seemed to enjoy his hamburger and fries. The meat was delicious. I had ribs, brisket, and chicken. The baked beans were also good. I was excited to have mac n cheese but wish I had been warned it was spicy. We may go back because the food is good but I'll definitely consider price. read more

The old Famous Dave's here in Tucson (that closed) was my favorite BBQ place. This one is pretty much a take out only version with no wait staff, but it was still really good as of a year or so ago. Sadly, now it's absolutely horrible. The place looked disorganized and dirty, the manager was rude, and I was the only customer in the building. Of course... Famous Dave's is okay. Not great, not bad - just okay. I came here for lunch and got ribs. I asked for "four bones" (that's how they measure them), and ended up getting six bones (bonus!). I was served quickly, and got a cornbread muffin and two sides (potato salad and mac' & cheese). It ain't cheap for lunch - that was over $16. The ribs were okay. They had a good smokey flavor under the sauce, and the sauce was tasty, but they were a bit tougher than I like my ribs. The sides were pretty good, as was the muffin (if a little too sweet). I like the place - it's well-lit, the seats are comfortable, there's nice art on the walls, and the staff is friendly. But for BBQ in Tucson - it's just okay. After completing order it told me my order would be ready in an hour at 12:15!? I stayed busy until then so didn't mind but found it too long for a ToGo. Today was not a great day though... we were seated at the first booth behind the register and a middle aged homeless man with a fresh black eye came to our table asking us for money. The place is smaller than the usual Famous Dave's. We ordered the St Louis ribs family platter with pulled pork, fries, and cornbread muffin. It was hard to hear each other talk I came here after class with a friend from Texas who really knows barbecue. He said our meal was OK and I agreed. He got the Burnt Ends (Texas Beef Brisket seared and caramelized with Sweet & Zesty BBQ sauce on a toasted bun) and I got Georgia Chopped Pork (slow-smoked chopped pork topped with Rich & Sassy BBQ sauce on a toasted bun). Let me first start off by saying I really like Famous Dave's, the food it great. The reason why I gave 3 stars was because of the atmosphere. And the only reason why I gave atmosphere 2 stars is because there was this one gentlemen, I wish I got his name who was real mellow the entire time I was there. There was two incidents where these two workers, let's say their names were Shift One and Shift Two (not the mellow guy) who seemed frusterated. And they both seemed to be frusterated with the manager there, I wish I got his name too. The second guy (shift two) who just walked into his shift seemed like he was off to a good start. Something happpened where this worker and the "manager" were arguing. The "manager" aggressively stated to talk in the office. A door slamed. Mintues later Shift Two came out, called someone to pick him up stating "I don't know what's wrong with him, but I'm not going to put up with his bad mood." and walked outside. Shift One was getting ready to leave, Shift Two is out there. Mellow guy steps out to talk to Shift Two. The "manager" is no where in site. Then he yelled again so I sat back down. Later my husband stood up to throw away our rubbish, it was 5ft away with no one in sight, he yelled at him too. Funny thing is, the guy doing all the mask policing is wearing one of those clear plastic shields that's open on the bottom. We ordered the three meat meal with two side of brisket and one of pork. The wife's brisket was 80% fat and had to be sent back. The pork was ok but a little on the dry side. This would have to be one of the places that actually meet my bbq expectations. I mean of course it's hard to compare to home bbq but it comes pretty darn close. Aside from the countless hours of standing outside and waiting for that meat to meet your juicy and tender perfection. Famous Dave delivers great flavor, texture, tender meat, smokey taste and filling portions. I was not disappointed let me tell you. To begin with I ordered the Southside rib tips which were super flavorful, delivering that dry rub taste and smoke. There were some parts that were a bit dry but majority of the pieces were soft and tender. Definitely recommend and it's on the happy hour menu too! For the main entree, I did a Feast for One. Yeah yeah it's a big size meal and I can be a piggy sometimes. But if you have a big appetite or feeling super hungry, I would recommend this monstrous feast! Heck if you want to take it to the next level do the Feast for Two! Moving forward the Feast for One includes about 3 St. Louis ribs, pulled pork, a piece of bbq chicken thigh, corn, beans, and coleslaw. The St. Louis ribs has that nice smoke flavor with a little hint of spice from the rub. The meat was a little dry, maybe slightly over cooked. It could have been better if it wasn't too dry. The pulled pork had the flavor, the tenderness, it literally just breaks up in your mouth without much force! The same went with bbq chicken, usually chicken get over cooked and dry easily. However it was still tender and juicy without any undercooked parts. I'll tell you what, I rolled out of there happy, satisfied and it definitely made up for my bbq craving! I posted this review under "Famous Dave's BBQ" as that is the official name of the restaurant. Just ate there last night with my wife and daughter. OH YEAH! It was goooood eatin'. I had a hankering for BBQ and always wanted to try Famous Dave's so we went. We ordered the Feast for Two (I think that's what it was called.) billed as being able to feed 2-3 people. I'm telling you, if there are only 2 of you, you are going to be stuffed silly as this can feed 4. It came with a half rack of ribs, a half chicken, I think 6 slices of beef brisket (this was the optional choice--we could have chosen chopped pork or some sausage instead), BBQ beans and cole slaw (you can choose your two sides), and potato wedges. EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLENT! The ribs were really tasty, the chicken was great, the brisket was tender. The BBQ beans were excellent, the cole slaw was as good or better than KFC's (my favorite until now). The cole slaw style was not fine cut like KFC's, but chopped, not huge pieces but around a little bigger than 1/4" pieces so it was very tasty. The potato wedges were the best we ever had, period. Perfectly lightly crisp on the outside and salted just right. They were not soggy potato wedges. Good enough to go back there for those alone, along with the beans and cole slaw. I haven't tried the corn muffins yet as I was too busy chowing down on other things. The waiter gave us four to take home along with our left overs. It was just fun being there. They serve this all on what looks like a fake plastic garbage can lid and it is put on a wooden pedestal. It was a fun presentation with all the food being on one platter. The decor is a car theme. Where we were in the restaurant it was pretty loud because there was a big party there enjoying themselves. Not complaining--just saying that people there were enjoying it as I. The bill including tax was $40.38. We didn't have any drinks, just water as we are water people. Reasonable for three people. And like I said, this could feed four. Highly recommended. read more

We came here for dinner on my last day in Tucson and by that time I wanted something a little healthier and lighter on the tummy. I was surprised to see that they had a cedar plank salmon so hooray for something healthy-ish!! I ordered it along with green beans and steamed broccoli and it was perfection.
