Went here expecting similar food to the regular restaurant, and sadly, it was not good. I know they have the capacity to make it better, so hopefully they will! We love the regular restaurant's food. We stopped going there for take out because they don't shut down their internet orders when they are overloaded, and so we would pay for dinner and then receive a message that the food was delayed by an hour or more, and have no recourse to cancel our order. They also don't answer their phone, so we would be out of the money for dinner with no dinner. It seemed like a no brainer that they would open an express option, they have high demand. This was our first visit to the Express operation. It was around five in the evening on a Friday, so not an off time. The place was not busy. We ordered a chicken kabob, but what we got seemed to have been deep fried (we heard the fryer), and it was dry and very chewy chicken. Not sure what it was. The person at the counter didn't seem to have full command of the menu or what we were ordering. Whenever I come to this restaurant, I go with its lunch special which it is a pretty good deal, $10 with a drink (as of Dec 2024) is hard to beat nowadays, amid the portion is a bit smaller than its regular price size, but it is a good enough size for me. Taste-wise, it's mostly consistent, seasoning, meat texture is fine. There is not much service as this is a fast food restaurant, you pay first, and grab your food by yourself. On the other hand, what I don't like is its availability, like I would say 30% of the time that I visited, this place is closed. I imagine if it didn't have enough staffs operating, then it would simply close. Nicely there is a Thai restaurant next door which offering a great lunch special too, so it is a good backup plan. read more

I've been a fan of the original location in the Rolling hills plaza (on the Crenshaw side opposite corner from CPK) for years. I didn't even notice that they opened a smaller express location around the corner from my house. So excited. Larger dinner portions and family style meals are available at this location but they have a nice expanded menu of express items that are perfect for lunches during the week. The food is always great. Cooked fresh and really flavorful and filling. I always have leftovers. Highly recommend the Chicken and steak skewers and koobideh. Let me start this out by saying I literally never leave reviews. The only reason I'm doing it now is to support this business so it will never close down. Wow. Hands down the best koobideh I've ever had. This place incorporates all of my favorite options for a plate of kabab. First, the meat is melt in your mouth tender, the juices literally bursting in your mouth with every bite. But wait, that juice doesn't just spill out into the plate, no. Fanoos grill express is smarter than that. There's a soft piece of sangak flat bread laying underneath the meat to catch that delicious juice: a particularly surprising and delightful part of the meal which most kabab restaurants don't do. Grilled tomato? Check. Grilled jalapeño? Check. And most importantly, grilled ONIONS?? I can't overstate how happy it makes me that they grill the onions. Again, this is uncommon. Most places just add a fresh onion and it is definitely not the same. And to top that off, grilled green bell pepper and squash. Sheesh. I ask for a side skewer of vegetables which are so good and also include grilled whole mushrooms . Oh and the rice! Plates here come standard with a half rice, half salad option which I love because you typically have to ask for that customization, but that comes standard here. Half and half makes for a more balanced meal and doesn't leave you bloated and overly full. As far as ambiance, look at the photos, this is mostly a takeaway place and totally casual, but it's not about that. Who cares when the food is so good! Delicious food! We order the #5 almost every Friday and it's the perfect amount of food for two adults. Chicken is cooked exceptionally well and remains tender and juicy while the steak and lamb are flavorful and provide a good mix of meats for us to share. We also order an extra side of Maust Khiar (yogurt dip w/ cucumbers and dill) because we use for both meat and pita. Always friendly service too! So I am what I would consider to be a Persian food addict. I'm not Persian, but I love the cuisine. Two of my favorite places locally are Seaside Palace and Fanoos on Crenshaw, the original Fanoos. We stumbled on Fanoos Grill Xpress the other day, and got lunch. I was so hopeful but was unfortunately disappointed. The rice was not like a Persian rice. The kubideh was over cooked and the Tahdiq that they served was actually burnt enough that we couldn't eat it. When I went back into the restaurant and asked if I could get some new Tadiq I was told they don't have anymore and the person helping me kind of gave me a weird look. Five dollars isn't very much money, but when you're getting a lunch special and your price out the door is $30. It's too much for not great quality. I hope things get better and that somebody Persian goes back and teaches them how to cook the family recipes from Fanoos. read more

Me and my wife both had the chicken shish lunch special which was $12 per combo plus tax. We were very pleased with the prices and the food itself . Chicken was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Combo included rice, salad and a bit of grilled onions with a jalapeño. Not sure if the dressing it came with was house or not but we enjoyed it on our salad and it had a little kick to it. If you are familiar with the original Fanoos in Torrance don't expect the same food or atmosphere. I went there expecting a nice sit-down meal that was delicious, but what I received was far from it. First of all, the area is questionable, so I was unsure if I had the right place. When I entered the restaurant there was no tables. One of the original owners of the original Fanoos said that we have to order at the counter first and then we asked if he had any tables and chairs. A lady went and got a table and fold up chairs and put them to the back of the restaurant. After a while, the owner brought my food on a tray with plastic containers and utensils. I asked for some water, and he brought me a bottle of water which I was charged for. Once I opened all the containers my food was burnt and the size of the food I am used to wasn't there either. Along with the bad food and bad atmosphere, I had to put up with screaming kids running up and down the center of the restaurant. Do yourself a favor and stay away. Plus, the price that I paid for the food was the same as the original Fanoos. read more
