Catching up on reviews. Most recent visit was during the NBA finals but had been here before. You'll see when if you check out the pics. Great place to watch games as there are lots of TV's and seating is situated that no matter where you sit, you'll be able to catch the action. So, sat at one of the communal bar height tables that runs through the middle of the place. At first, wasn't sure who my server was but I believe there was a shift change and there was no question as the service was great. A team was all over it - as friendly as could be - it was busy for the game. But still making sure everyone was tended to. I don't remember waiting for anything except for the bill but that was likely due to the fact that my friend and I stuck around after the game so the staff didn't know if/when we were ready to take off. Food was good. Not great but it's not quite a restaurant but a bar that serves food. So, I mean it's not gourmet but it's definitely not fast food. Food (4/5): For late night Asian eats I love coming to Far Bar! I love how unique this place is especially because sports bars tend to be American food and it's not what I tend to crave and unfortunately I only date men who watch sports for what seems to be no end. They have fried rice, ramen, sushi, gyozas, you name it! I like their ramen broth but the pork belly was pure fat with hardly any meat and I couldn't stand it. The other food I've tried was absolutely delicious. I'm excited to try their bacon fried rice next. Portions are great in size and food comes out really quick. Sav and Dave We came here for sushi and sake and left completely impressed by not only the food, but the people. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, fresh sushi, great sake, amazing atmosphere, and genuinely kind service from start to finish. But what really blew me away happened after we left. I accidentally left my purse behind with everything in it, including cash. I came back the next day honestly preparing for the worst, and not only had they safely kept it for me, but every single thing was still exactly where I left it. I told the woman helping me that if the $100 bill inside was still there, I wanted her and the staff to keep it because integrity like that deserves to be rewarded. At first I thought it was gone, then found it tucked into a corner of my bag, and happily handed it over. It was worth every penny to get my purse back and to thank genuinely good people for doing the right thing. I literally was going to be so lost without my bag. Not only did it have my work badge, but my car key, the keys to my apartment keys to my mailbox, etc. I really did not want to have to make copies. I just had my keys stolen a year ago. Forgot I've been here a few times, but somehow I keep coming back. Ended up in Little Tokyo again, picked a random spot, and landed here. Started with the wasabi fries which were crispy with a nice kick, as you'd expect based on the name. Went with the pork belly ramen next; the meat was super tender and the broth had a rich, savory taste. Ramen might not be their specialty, so there are probably stronger options with more variety nearby, but it still hit the spot. The drinks were the real highlight. La Luna y Sol was solid, but the Jade Empire stole the show. light, refreshing, and perfect for a hot summer day. You can't really taste the alcohol so it's a dangerous one because it's just so darn delicious! Service was friendly and attentive. Dropped in with a friend for a drink. There is seating both inside and outside on a patio. Neither are particularly spacious if you are hoping to bring a large party. I ordered the michelada and some garlic edamame to snack on. The michelada was way too salty, but the garlic edamame was delicious. Service was fine. However, when I needed to use the restroom, the restroom situation was interesting. They have two single person restrooms inside and one single person restroom on the patio. The ones inside were occupied, and there was a sign stating that there was another restroom on the patio. When I went looking for the restroom on the patio and asked for help finding it, the staff person on the patio tried to redirect me back inside. I had to explain to them that the ones inside were occupied before he told me where the restroom on the patio was located. Not sure why this person didn't just tell me where the restroom on the patio was located when I was already on the patio. I come here often for games and for their great prices during happy hour! It's from 3-7pm and they have great options on the choices, you're saving a couple bucks but still decent prices. I usually get the far bar special cheeseburger and my husband and I split it cause it's a big burger. We'll also order extra fries or tots. Today's burger was a little disappointing, I didn't even let it sit for long and the bottom bun was extremely soggy, to the point where I couldn't eat it. (Refer to photo). Customer service is apparently nonexistent in this establishment. I have dined here a few times, and workers act like you're inconveniencing them. As a server myself, I try to be understanding of interactions but multiple visits have had consistent experiences to bad customer service. My previous (and most likely last) visit made me feel so uncomfortable because the attitudes of bartenders/ servers felt hostile.. I've noticed its a different experience if you are a local tho! My company reserved a small corner space to have our company meeting, and our server was no one to be found. We had flag down one of the workers, and he walked up with an attitude "They are making rounds". It wasn't until 20 minutes later we had someone come by.. okay no big deal. For some reason, our server refused to write down the order, so we assumed he had it memorized but repeatedly came up to ask questions about order AND still manage to get it wrong. read more

Visited twice during my recent visit to DTLA/Little Tokyo and if I were a local, I'd come here to watch all the Dodger games! The prices for food were fair! Beer was on the pricier side as their next door neighbor offered the same draft Sapporo, but $2.50 cheaper. We enjoyed and loved the Wagyu hotdog, the wasabi fries, matcha ice cream, and sushi roll! Great ambience and our server on our first visit was outstanding. On our second visit, service was lacking that same attentive detail, we think it was due to the different staff personalities. Stopped by for my lunch after attending an event nearby. A little confusing when it's called Far Bar, but the marquee still says Far East from the previous establishment. Why not Far East Sports Bar? Loved the food when this bar catered to the Little Tokyo Historical Society anniversary lunch on Sun, 3/8. Today I had the Misoyaki salmon salad with beautiful watermelon radish, tender salmon and a nice salad. It was delicious! I had a nice bottle of water all to myself. Good service when I was was there. I think they need an extra person. When I arrived at the restaurant, I saw the "wait to be seated" sign and waited. I waited a few minutes before someone came up. Nice ambience that will grow louder in noise, clamoring and cheers. Friendly service, but I can see more help is needed. I've been to this bar plenty of times, but this was by far the worst experience I've had. I didn't leave a tip for two beers, and the so-called "manager" came up to me demanding that I tip -- saying it was mandatory and that I needed to "be a better person." When I said I wanted to speak to the real manager, he threatened to kick me out and take my drinks away if I didn't tip. As far as I know, tipping is always optional -- not something that should be forced with threats or attitude. When I tried to explain my side, he cut me off and told me to be quiet and listen to him. Terrible service for $8 beers. After this experience, I won't be coming back as a customer. I love this bar and I've been back so many times for their food. They have some of the best garlicky wings with such a great crust. They're called the Ming Wings. Their Maneki tots are great too and come with shredded pork, wasabi + sriracha mayo, bacon and chives. I've also gotten the Far Bar and Dragon rolls and prefer the dragon roll. Their drinks are good and strong too. I always get a La Luna y Sol and my bf gets the Old Fashioned. 10/10 on those. I also love that they have a patio space because it can get stuffy inside, but if the food wasn't so good, I'd had to take off a star because the last time I went, we found a fruit fly on our sushi and told our server. I didn't expect for anything to comped or free, so I was surprised by my server's response, who's usually great. He said "That's why we don't want people sitting out in the patio. Things like that happen" which is kind of real of him, but LOL We didn't make a big deal out of it and we still tipped well, but their service was better at some point. I love this bar they have a great selection of whiskey. Been trying to find Nikka whiskey since my tripped to Hokkaido. They have a good variety of other Japanese whiskey too. They also have a great happy hour menu so come on weekday for a high ball or an old fashioned. Bar tender really knows how to make a good drink really friendly and great conversation.
