Most delicious breakfast I've had in a long long time!!! The coffee was wonderful and the fruit was super fresh and beautiful to look at. My omelette was well cooked and bursting with spinach, mushrooms, and bacon. Do not sleep on their homemade strawberry cinnamon jam. Just give me a bowl of this and a spoon next time.!!! The people were super super nice and very attentive. Great menu for breakfast, lunch and brunch. And the interior of the restaurant is just beautiful. Highly recommend. Free parking in the back.

    Chorizo Burrito

I found this restaurant on Yelp and was eager to try it. After looking at their photos, I noticed they offered quite a wide selection of food. I waited about 40 minutes to be seated, as I arrived during a very busy period. The restaurant has a cozy, rustic-modern cafe vibe that leans casual but is thoughtfully designed. However, it was very rowdy by the time I was seated. Let's talk about the service. My server was one of the slowest I've ever had. It took her about 15 minutes just to bring out our drinks, and she lacked attentiveness. She didn't seem able to handle multitasking. I ordered the chorizo burrito and some pancakes. The chorizo burrito consisted of chorizo, scrambled eggs, melted cheese, and home fries (country-style potatoes). The home fries inside the burrito were dry and had a hard texture, I honestly felt like I might hurt my jaw chewing them. The chorizo itself had a mildly spicy, smoky flavor. It wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst either. The pancakes had a buttermilk flavor and were served with fresh fruit on top. However, they were dry and tough, and the flavor was very lackluster. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. From slow service to basic-tasting food, I don't see myself giving this restaurant another try. Huervos Rancheros is very good

We waited a while before getting seated. I normally do not mind the wait, but it wasn't busy and there were enough servers to seat us and manage the front. It just seemed a little disorganized. It took time for them to take our order too, but when our dishes arrived, they were delicious! I ordered the Huervos Rancheros and I loved it, my husband ordered the California Breakfast Burrito, and he thought it was good and hearty. My daughter ordered the Nutella Strawberry waffle and she thought it was amazing. Overall, I'd give this place another shot since the place is lovely and clean, just a little short with the service.

This was my second time coming to this location and I was very very disappointed. The first time I came, I came with a group of friends and the food tasted great as well as their Vanilla Iced latte. The service was also very pleasant. The second time around, I made a reservation online and was seated within 10min. The server was not very friendly, each time we asked questions about the menu, she didn't seem to want to give us suggestions on popular plates or drinks what plates she recommended. Her response was very dry, unfriendly "Idk, whatever you like then get it, that will be good". The food presentation was amazing but the food was very bland. I ordered avocado eggs Benedict. My eggs was overly yolky. We also ordered chilaquiles and they were bland and unpleasant. It was unfortunate because I had high hopes of everything tasting great but I don't think I will be coming back. Please upgrade your recipes the restaurant is beautiful and the quality of food should meet those expectations and standards.

First off, this is a beautiful location with lots of light. The service was excellent, and everyone was friendly even though it was quite busy. Unfortunately, there must have been some kind of miscommunication as I ordered my chilaquiles with over medium eggs (because runny whites gross me out) and they came over hard, almost baked. I didn't have the time to deal with it, so just pushed them off to the side and focused on the rest of the meal. From reading reviews it seems like this might be a common problem?

What a great breakfast spot in an area that really needs exactly this! The menu was fairly extensive with breakfast offerings on one side and lunch on the other. They had a great coffee menu and a limited but well curated local draft beer selection. They also had wine, listed by varietal. Their service was quick and attentive and the ambiance was homey and inviting. Felt more like Granada Hills than the courthouse stretch of Van Nuys. There was a sizable free parking lot in the back and metered parking out front. Definitely a repeat!

1st time her and the food was delicious. Great customer service and I live the decorations. Definitely will return.

Hidden gem on Van Nuys! The food is delicious (with generous portions), the house coffee is flavorful, the decor is adorable, the room is spacious (yet cozy, which is neat), and the staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I ordered the pancake combo with bacon, eggs, and home fried potatoes. The presentation was beautiful. The pancakes were thick and fluffy, but weren't my favorite. It's not a knock on them, though...I'm just particular about pancakes. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the home fries were crispy and well seasoned. I will definitely be back to try their other dishes, and I recommend it for anyone interested in a great spot for a bite!

Yummy food loved it. The decorations are beautiful. Unfortunately I had to take one star out because the service is not good, they should fix that.

This is one of my favorite spots to eat! When they say it's farm to table it is! The food is always fresh and the coffee is delicious! The service is amazing and the ambience is really cute!

    Breakfast

We ordered the matcha pancakes, chilaquiles, steak skillet, sweet potatoes fries, and vanilla & hazelnut iced latte with oat milk. Everything was good except the steak was a tad tough. The waiter, hostess, and busser were all so attentive and friendly. The place is not stingy- extra ranch, extra plates, & butter too was brought to us immediately. The interior is nice too. Overall recommend to visit. Food Matcha pancakes: 7/10 Chilaquiles Divorciados: 7/10 Steak Skillet: 5/10 Sweet potatoes fries: 5.5/10 Vanilla: 7.5/10 Hazelnut: 7/10 Vibes: 8.5/10

One piece of toast that all they give you. Eggs just ok, bacon terrible and home fries (potatoes) not good.
    Karen G.

Food was unfortunately terrible. We got the chicken and waffles and bacon and eggs combo. The chicken had zero taste, waffles way over cooked. Bacon and home fries had no taste. The only give you one piece of toast. They charge a fee when you use your credit card. On the receipt it had price for cash and price for credit card. The seats are very hard and not comfortable at all. Also the place had an odor. It was very hot in there terrible air ventilation. Waitress was nice, they did take off the chicken and waffles off the bill. But we still paid almost $50!!! Place is very expensive. It was only two of us. Bacon and eggs, coffee and a latte almost $50. Parking kind of sucks. Unfortunately I will not be back. I was disappointed.

The atmosphere is casual and…read morefestive, with TV's playing sports and a varied crowd that includes daters, older couples, families and singles making the most of their weekend. There's music that's lively without being overbearing, and the staff is uniformly friendly. But... You have to order at the bar and, though they have runners to bring your food, you do have to hunt them down for anything after the delivery (extra ketchup, etc). While this isn't my favorite system at my age, to be fair, whatever the owners are saving on staff is reflected in the prices, which are absolutely below most places in the area for food that is good-quality and drinks that are generously poured. So yes, my wife's Espresso Martini was served in a deep-bellied Belgium beer glass, and my whiskey neat was a hefty pour. Yay!! For food, I ordered the Smash Burger, which is served with melted American, grilled onions and the house version of Russian dressing (as well as pickles, which I deleted). The burgers had a nice, smashed crust while remaining juicy, the cheese was properly melted, and the grilled onions had a terrific caramelized sweetness, while the house sauce was very well-balanced: ketchupy and creamy without being too mayonnaise-heavy. A very good smasher. My wife ordered the Big Texan Burger because she wanted cheddar and frizzled onions and BBQ sauce, though she deleted the bacon and pork belly that are normally included. This, too, was a very good burger: cooked to a proper and pleasing medium-rare and well-seasoned, with a good, fresh flavor to the beef. The onion rings were less successful, which are of the beer batter type, but seemed to be a commercial, frozen product. The coating was browned but not crisp, and the flavor was relatively nondescript. We didn't really eat them, and wouldn't order them again. And so, to me, The Tipsy Cow is a bit of a mixed bag: reasonably priced decent food and reasonably priced, generously-poured drinks -- but in a mostly self-serve environment that incrementally loses its appeal in relation to your age and your dining circumstances. Certainly worth a try, but you've gotta be in the right mood.

Sherman Oaks is gritty and the section of Ventura Boulevard that houses TLP is almost brutalist in its anti-establishment aesthetic. You would never know it was here if you didn't either live in the neighborhood or seek it out as I did. It is sandwiched between a completely non-descript place that I didn't even look at and a crystals shop with grafitti-etched windows (unfortunately!) but some really cool beads. Inside is the same -- no frills, a dress-down and survive-if-you-dare vibe. My pictures will illustrate what I mean. Nevertheless, the friendly service (shout out to our server, Patrick), the menu, and the quality of the food are well worth it. Again, see what we ordered in the photos attached. Everything was delicious. The floor, tables, and chairs were all clean. There is some kind of post-apocalypse rhumba going on with the ceiling treatment. It is almost reverse-logic art with all the shading (stains? velour movement?) and utilitarian installation it reveals. Love the walls though, and the worn distressed wood everywhere (see the pix, folks). A bonus was watching the Masters (Patrick let us linger) and sitting by a giant window that was open to the street. Parking is up a block or so on either side. We always find safe spots in Sherman Oaks. The music seemed to be one CD of an unknown (to me) vocal artist and was pleasant. The crowd was friendly and the whole atmosphere was like one big homey grunge party. You know those mornings you fall out of bed and almost don't want to change out of your pajamas or yoga threds? This is the place to go. I loved it. (NOTE: You may have to refresh this page twice to see my pictures, for some reason. grrrrrr)

That came with their vinaigrette dressing but a side of ranch was also asked for. The Brie and turkey sandwich with a side of the macaroni salad. Sandwiches were quite tasty with the toasted bread and how everything melted together. The burger which was pretty big in size. Tasty from what I was informed and served with a side of fries. Lastly, the avocado toast with tomatoes. Simple and cheerful. Plus you need an extra side order of streak fries with ranch. Both ketchup and their avocado dip was brought out as well. Food was good, the service was great. Both with the gal at the register and the waitress bringing out the food. It's pet friendly which is also nice to have the little pup with us. Forgot, they also have a nice display case of sweets on hand. And cookies that were massive. Clearly one was had before the meal. Sweets beforehand is always a good idea. Great service, nice drink, live music and a lovely crowd. What a nice way to enjoy lunch on a Tuesday afternoon.
