I don't know why this spot has some bad reviews, it was my first time checking out Farmer boys, farm fresh to table food. My friend ordered some special chicken salad, he devoured it. I ordered a regular hamburger french fries and a drink period my total came to $9.58 which was just right. The portions are really big including the fries. the best thing for me was the fact that they do not yet any pepper or seasonings to their burgers, this is left for you to choose what you want to put on it. Everything was delicious, fries reminded me of a healthier version of Burger King's fries. I haven't reviewed this Farmer Boys although I've gone there a few dozen times since they opened a few years ago - it's still a relatively new location. In the past I may have given it - depending on the visit - a 4 or 5, but my most recent experience brings it down to a 3, and that's being kind. To summarize: The 'customer service' is perfunctory, not overtly friendly, and when they have a deal going on like the 'scarecrow's bday,' they are obviously overwhelmed with not a lot of experience among the staff in handling one order after another. I understand their pre-emptive marketing claims of "it's not fast food", but I waited a FULL HALF AN HOUR in restaurant for a to-go order of six of their 'no brainer' items, totaling $15 because of the promotion (sounded good and that's why I went). Then when I got the bag of food, they included a beef chili which I never ordered. When I brought it to their attention, no apology - in fact, there was no apology for the wait, and they didn't appear to be the kind of people who would apologize for anything - a red flag for customer service. It's a no-brainer to think they SHOULD treat customers as guests and not annoying inconveniences. Fine, whatever. Then, the food: Grilled cheese - decent for equivalent of $2.50 Chicken tenders - only two small ones for $2.50, and too much hardened batter at the ends Mini breakfast bowl - sad undercooked two measly strips of bacon, okay mini pancakes, pathetic strand (1/8th of one egg?) of 'scrambled' egg. French toast strips - not bad; nice crisp and taste Breakfast sandwich - as poor as the bowl. Overall I was disappointed, because it seemed like they were cutting corners in order to handle the promotion. Usually the food is better and more generous. If I'd had only this experience there, I might not return. The wait was the longest I'd experienced, the attitudes the least pleasant, and the food the most disappointing. Food is consistent and good. My whole family loves it for when we need a quick meal. I love that breakfast is an option all day. What I appreciate most (because it's hard to find these days) is the service. Everyone is always kind and helpful. Today, the good service really beamed. My young daughter left her retainers in a napkin. Before we left, the woman on the floor offered to bus our table - so nice! We realized 10 minutes later, the retainers were missing. We frantically called to let them know, mentally preparing to sift through the trash. When we arrived, she had gone through the garbage & found the retainers! What a relief for us! Well ... I know I _should_ like this place but I really just don't. Maybe if I were a big bacon eater it would be my jam. But that's not my thing. I work nearby and, every few months or so, I talk myself into trying again. But unless it's got bacon on the plate they just can't get the order right. This time it was a chili burger. I had to work with three separate cashiers before they could figure out how to ring up the order. The food was pretty good, and the service was pleasant.... However, the prices are outrageous. There is also a tip jar in the drive thru. I cannot understand this. It is right in the middle of the window, so your entire transaction has to be done with it in the way. I guess they don't want you to miss it. Felt slow when they first opened, which makes sense. They're in a groove now with this whole delivery and take out only and it's nice! Solid burgers. Great fries and onion rings. Farmer Boys is s shitty version on Jack in The Box. Drive through is open, so is take out. Went to the drive through, had to repeat myself several times, not because the person couldn't hear me, but because they just weren't paying attention. Ordered a breakfast burrito, a burger and fries. They gave me a number to hand in my window and park in the front. There are several cars already waiting for their orders as well. It's now been 23 minutes since I ordered. This is a joke. It's definitely not fast, the people seem to be incompetent and wait.... my food just arrived. I simply cannot fathom the thinking in the executive suite when it comes to situating yet another fast food joint in the midst of the rest, especially when the food and ambiance are nothing special. Assuming the place gets it act together eventually (openings are tough) the burgers will still be average, the fries tasteless and the prices high. As for the breakfast menu, three eggs per serving are the standard. Could we exercise a little restraint when it comes to certain food choices? Two eggs are more than enough. Stick with the tried and true standard bearers in this area: In and Out and Habit. Burgers, fries and shakes done right. Then back away from burgers occasionally and eat a salad once in a while. We had a chicken avocado sandwich it looked great but it was cold and not made fresh. The burgers are good but way too expensive for what they are. I was expecting so much more. We all taste food like we see color - differently. So here is my opinion and my opinion only. Five Guys, Fat Burger, Shake Shack and The Habit have NOTHING to worry about. A completely underwhelming experience at the new Farmer Boys guarantees I will not be back. With so many good burger places in town, why waste your hard earned money? Over priced and under flavored on everything. The onion rings (I got only 4 with my order) were lukewarm at best, they were not salted and were frankly very bland. Cold - forget even trying them. *You want good onion rings go to Fat Burger! The fries my wife got were only slightly warmer than the air and the taste was reminiscent of when Burger King tried a new oil and failed. The chocolate shake might as well have been vanilla - bleh. No chucks of real ice cream as I would have expected and it melted in 5 seconds flat. And hey guys - chocolate means chocolate. The hamburger was meh. Only marginally juicy. Thinner patties and the taste was indistinct. No grilled goodness, no seasoning surprise. It was like Smart and Final meat - not the worst you have ever had, but also nothing like the best. The smoke filled the lobby (still scratching my head how that happened), and with long lines and tasteless food it made the whole experience lackluster, especially for such a highly anticipated opening. I don't think this is a matter of working out kinks - the kinks are in the food. Stick with the Five Guys, Fat Burger, Shake Shack and The Habit who make much better everything. Even Johnny Rockets is better. The one highlight - the staff was great. read more

Three milkshakes cost almost $20. We waited 10 minutes at the window after paying. I took a few sips and noticed that the texture was a bit off. Then I felt something that was not chewable in my mouth and pulled out a piece of plastic. Took another sip and found another piece of plastic. Good thing I only consumed one piece of plastic, am I right? I went back in and got a full refund for all three shakes thankfully. Finally got a local Farmer Boys! We loved them in Orange County. Great burgers with a char-grilled flavor, and the fries are really good too. There's a dog-friendly patio that's nice and clean but only has 2 tables, so make a sure you get a spot with your pups before you order. I got the farmers burger and it was good size and taste. My wife got the 2-egg sandwich and it was cooked well but had eggshells in it. The main issue I had was with the service. I told them when ordering that I was going to redeem a reward for a drink with the app on my phone. When they gave me my order, they said this redemption code is for a large drink but they had made me a medium drink. I said well that's what I want so please change it. She said she wasn't a manager and didn't know the code and couldn't fix anything. So she discounted a $3.49 medium drink to $2.50 and said that's all she could do. So instead of a free large drink I was now getting a discounted medium drink. I complained about it further and then she just gave me another drink for free. No manager was on premises. It seems to me that they should have the ability to adjust an order on the cash register when it isn't done right if there is no manager there. read more
