Farmhouse is one of those neighborhood spots that stays in our regular rotation. It's a cute place in Westwood that definitely lives up to its name with its cozy, rustic farmhouse vibe. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a great option year-round. The menu is extensive, so there's something for just about everyone. As someone who has to eat gluten-free, I do wish they offered a few more GF options. That said, I really appreciate that they have gluten-free bread and wraps. My go-to order is the grilled chicken pesto wrap on a gluten-free wrap, and during the colder months, I love pairing a meal with one of their soups. I just wish there were more gluten-free side options besides a salad. They also have a nice selection of non-caffeinated iced teas, which is always a bonus when you're looking for something different to drink. Service can be on the slower side, especially during busy lunch or dinner hours, so it's best not to come if you're in a rush. The restaurant has a few TVs that are usually showing sports, giving it a relaxed neighborhood feel, and the bathrooms have consistently been clean whenever I've visited. If you pay with cash, you'll avoid the credit card service fee. One thing to know before you go: parking in downtown Westwood can be a bit of a headache. Pay attention to the parking signs and meters. Although, I would love to see the farmhouse expand their gluten-free menu, it is a reliable local spot with good food, a welcoming atmosphere, and enough variety to keep us coming back. read more

We had a nice time but service was very slow and we had to get up and ask for our coffees. The menu is extensive and varied. The place is huge. For whatever reason I thought of this place last night that I really liked but haven't been to in a few years so I came this morning to have a nice breakfast. It was much quieter than I remember it shortly after 11 AM on a Saturday which was good because I was ready to eat. Service was attentive and kind. I ordered a coffee, which I was thrilled to see came in a large mug and salmon eggs Benedict. Although I prefer a biscuit over an English muffin, not for this. I felt that it got too mushy and that was even with me ordering the hollandaise on the side. The home fries were very good. This was a very cozy, comforting restaurant, or I should say Café eatery. Some of the items on the wall is pretty cool and it's very like I said cozy and a rustic format. The food was good. Nothing wrong with our food. It did taste fresh. It was a nice afternoon to the point that they didn't even bother us to leave which in some places if you're sitting for too long, they're already like OK. You got the check what's up? What's going on? They were very it was very laid-back and maybe at the time we went there's not so many people there Which again I tipped my hat to that place. Definitely a place to check out if you're looking for a brunch place also I would assume that if it's earlier hours highly recommended a recommendation because it does seem like that place can get busy because when we went, it was somewhat busy. I'm left to wonder if these are new owners because my experience was quite unusual from previous visits. I ordered a panini sandwich which offered a side of either salad or french fries. I can't eat either one so instead of forfeiting my side I asked if they can give me a tiny condiment size cup of guacamole to add to my sandwich and they refused!, saying it will cost me extra money if I wanted it., even if it was a small condiment size cup. I didn't see them taking any money off for me not getting a side, that was OK with them just to charge me a full price and come out ahead, but it wasn't OK for them to substitute for me to satisfy a customer. By the way, that sample size cup of guacamole would've cost them less than the side of french fries or a small salad that would've come with it anyway so I'm not really sure what the argument would've been about. You just lost a liar customer because of your greedy un yielding ability to be reasonable customer within reason. I will be sure to share this experience with everyone I know who dines out. My husband and I have eaten here several times and always enjoyed the food, ambiance and service. Unfortunately we had our first bad service experience to the point at which we just walked out and it'll take a lot to motivate us to want go back. Place was half empty when we were seated at 7pm on a Saturday night. For the next 15 minutes wait staff passed by us without making eye contact - even when trying to flag them down... no one stopped by at all, so we left, as we were obviously invisible. Other tables immediately surrounding us were being attended to by wait staff...2 or 3 times each while we were sitting there - and even the other tables acknowledged we were sitting there for quite some and that we were trying to get the wait staff's attention to no avail. Rather embarrassing and humiliating experience....and the first time we've ever walked out of a restaurant under those circumstances. We believe the table behind us had the same issue and walked out too...right after we were seated...they were talking to the hostess for 5 minutes on their way out with rather ticked off expressions on their faces. I am basing this on one visit. That said, this will be my only visit. When one is paying almost $20 for a pastrami sandwich, the expectation is that it would be tasty and more pastrami than Cole slaw and the fat should be cut off the meat. The amount of pastrami in the sandwich was so minimal, and the amount of fat that was left on was equal to that of the meat. I don't expect it to be a Katz's deli type of sandwich but for $20 it should be palatable. This was disgusting! I then got the salmon eggs benedict which was just alright. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't go out of my way to suggest it either. We also got the turkey club on gluten free bread which was very good. Our first time at Farmhouse. First, lovely waitress, Victoria. Very attentive, welcoming & friendly. I have to admit that we hadn't visited Farmhouse, because we just assumed that it was probably like a glorified diner. Couldn't have been more wrong. When we did get seated, our server Jack was great! Kind, funny, and checked in on us just enough. A bunch of the group was looking forward to trying the Rockefeller shakshouka, but it wasn't available after we'd ordered. I opted instead for the Reuben sandwich. Just fine. We shared the spinach artichoke dip, which was delicious, but I'm rarely ever not a fan of any type of spinach or artichoke dip. Also tried the breakfast tacos, which were... I've never had a bad meal at the Farmhouse! I typically go there for breakfast/brunch, so it was nice to try their dinner too! Their coffee is wonderful. I love their Dirty Chai Lattes (iced or hot). This time, the staff member who made my latte even did a little latte art! It was such a nice touch. For dinner, I tried their Beef Kefta Kebab - I wasn't sure at first I got the right order when it came out, but it was! It's a different take on a Kebab, and it was delicious. I have been here a number of times ONLY because of its convenience and others wanted to try it. Not once was the meal enjoyed without a hitch. The service (since its opening years ago) continues to be inconsistent at best and rude at worst (group of servers talking in the back while customers are waiting over 20 minutes to place an order). Not everything is servers' issue. The menu states "PLEASE, DON'T REDESIGN OUR MENU DISHES" clearly and yes, all in caps. I found that ordering "crispy" fries must have been a redesign as the server acknowledged the error, took them back to the kitchen and returned 15 minutes later in the same state. On Sunday, eggs over easy were ordered (NOT a "redesign"), scrambled were brought, mistake was acknowledged, returned to the kitchen and 20 minutes later the mistake was rectified. For the umpteenth time, those dining together did not get to eat at the same time. When customers choose your establishment to spend their money to dine, that should be met with at least a bit of gratitude than is demonstrated in the Farmhouse kitchen, on the menu and on the floor. read more

Second time having lunch here with a couple of friends. This was a delightful day weather-wise, so we sat outside on the shaded patio. I ate mine with everything as described on the menu (I'm not too fussy, just feed me). I'd say their salads are good. The grilled chicken salad is a lot of lettuce, some corn, some black beans, a few pieces of tomato, a sprinkle of cheddar cheese - a nice combination, not at all spicy, even after I ground a good amount of pepper on it. I chose the lemon herb dressing on the side (I really dislike "drowned" salads) and I did use almost half of it. The salad needed the citrus perk. There are sandwiches and entrees on the menu, along with quite a few other salads. This place is a good option for lunch among many restaurants in the neighborhood. read more

Plus, the taste is there from first bite to finish. My meal was devoured with the quickness. One gripe is the staffing issue. When a place is super busy you need to be fully staffed to accommodate. Even with the lack of service this is worth the visit. TIP: Parking can be tough so if you don't mind walking a bit you can always park a few blocks away in the residential area.
