I stumbled here randomly on my lunch break while I was at 711 next door so I decided to give it a shot. I was welcomed by the friendly owner whose name is Garo very nice guy. I ordered 4 tacos 2 asada and 2 pastor and each taco had an amazing taste one after another. The place was very clean and maintained along with the salsa bar and the food was great. I'll definitely be back to try the burrito next time.

Don't let the small parking stop you!!! It's a great location to stop in and grab some Burritos and Tacos. They have plenty of seating and always something eye catching on the TV. They get your order correct every time and mark it to let you know what's in each container. Their service is amazing will continue to visit this location!! They got great Salsa, give you grilled green onion and have the best bean and cheese burritos. Cannot get enough!!

Tucked away in a small shopping plaza on lassen desoto, a nice little hole in the wall Mexican food place. Usually get a carne asada combination plate. $17.47 after tax but it's worth it as you get bang for your buck. The owner is really nice. Food is good.

Fast Taco is a small Mexican grill that sits at the corner of Lassen and De Soto in Chatsworth. It is located in a small strip mall. Inside one finds two round tables and wall side sitting areas, all of which have bar stools. This small restaurant is very simple, and it also has a salsa bar. All the salsas and condiments are prepared fresh in house ever day. The owner told me he has had this business since 42 years. I ordered two carne asada tacos upon entering and was told that I would also get complimentary chips. This is the first time I was never asked to pay after ordering at a counter. After sitting at my table with the chips and helping myself to the Rojo and Verde salsas I began to eat. Soon, the carne asada tacos arrived. And let me tell you, there was a lot of meat there. It comes with cheese (just a little for me), avacado and scallions on the side. I added chopped white onions to my taco and ate it with the salsa rojo (my favorite). The carne asada was prepared well and the tacos were good. Scallions could have been grilled more for char and better flavor. A few minutes after I began eating, I realized that I had not paid and went up to the counter saying so. The manager said I could do it later, gesturing for me to go back to my table. Service here was warm, courteous and very friendly. The manager was most polite and made you comfortable the moment you walked in and till you walked out. A very comfortable setting with high marks for pleasantness. This was a good find for me. Go give it a try.

First I would like to say the STAFF is AMAZING!!!! My chicken tacos were very dry and they forgot my cheese. Some of the pieces were very hard I couldn't chew it. I prefer limes in stead of lemons. The restaurant is very clean and the staff was so nice I will give them another try! We will see.....

I'm so glad I tried this place, I never even knew it existed considering it's hidden in 7 eleven parking lot. I only discovered it from yelping. The carne asada burrito is legit! I'm impressed and will be returning for sure! They even give you free chips and salsa unlike some places.

Always looking for a good Mexican food place, there are many around of course, but not all good. Fast Taco is one of the good ones out there, this was the first time we checked it out. I must say the positive reviews hold up. The staff was very friendly, I believe the owner was the one who helped me, very nice Guy, seems genuinely happy when working with his customers. Gave me plenty of containers for salsa, cilantro, Onions, etc. all the plates were clearly marked and he made it a point to recap everything, give me a big container of Salsa and a big bag of chips with my order. Thank you. We got a Pollo Burrito combo, an Asada Burrito Combo, a Two Taco combo with Carne Asada and a Carne Asada Plate Combo. All the combos come with Rice, beans, salad and sour cream. (The Carne Asada plate also come with guacamole . The Burritos also have guacamole added to them. The meats were flavored perfectly and the rice and beans were tasty, we were very full with food to spare and happy. Everything tasted excellent! I loaded up on the green salsa, nice and spicy. They also have a nice red salsa that had some spice and sweetness to it and another red salsa that has a great Smokey flavor. I loved them all. Also packed away some cilantro and radishes, everything was great. One tip I forgot to add, this is a "Cash Only" spot, so many people don't carry cash these days, so make sure you grab some before going. Enjoy!

I came here on a Wednesday morning to pick up a Carne Asada burrito, chips and guacamole to go. The two men working here, one is the cashier and the other is the cook, are both extremely friendly, hard-working, and you can tell that they love their jobs. I came in at the right time when the cook pulled off the fresh grilled Carne Asada. They have a wonderful and fresh salsa bar with pico de gallo, different levels of salsas, pickled vegetables, fresh onions, and cilantro. The guacamole is addicting! The level of spices and salt makes you want to go back for more so luckily you get a lot of chips to enjoy the guacamole. The burrito is packed with so many ingredients; rice beans, Carne Asada, cheese, and pico de gallo. I'm really enjoying the chips and guacamole and burrito. I definitely recommended. We return to try other things please support your local businesses. That's what makes America so great!

Asked for no pick, basically only pico in the entire burrito. Inedible.

Although their burritos are excellent, my go-to meal is their wonderful tostadas. The grilled onions they include make them extra-special.

When will this place open again? Dying for their quesadillas & burritos

    THIS MONDAY !!!! 1.27.2020

So just wanted to update ya'll.. they arent open and will be opening maybe sometime mid February 2019 😭😭. Anyone tried the Santa Monica location?

Just drove by this past Saturday 12/28/19 and looks like they advanced heavily and will open soon. I have no ETA on when but should be early 2020.

Ok, I'm dying for their nachos. Once I was in there and heard the boss talking about some place in Simi. Anyone know if the owners have another location to tide me over until they (please Lord) reopen?

There's another Fast Taco in Santa Monica on Ocean Park run by another branch of the family. Food is very close in flavor and quality.

Anyone know if they relocated or just closed? :(

I placed a call to the number on their menu and here on Yelp and spoke with one of the owners. He told they would be reopening in 5 months, so hopefully in November.

    Whats the Sq ft?

I'll take a tape measure with me next time I feel like getting a burrito

Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. Valet parking or park across the street or around the corner in a lot for $5-10.

The mole was rich, complex, and full of flavor, exactly what you would hope for from a restaurant known for its Oaxacan specialties. As a welcome appetizer, they bring fresh chips and salsa to the table, but what really impressed us was when they replaced the salsa with their incredible mole sauce. It was so good we found ourselves dipping everything into it. Both meals were served with rice that was perfectly cooked with a great consistency and flavor. One of the reasons I recommended Mirate is because it's known for being a highly rated modern Mexican restaurant with exceptional service and knowledgeable staff, especially when it comes to tequila and mezcal. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at all. Before ordering food, I asked our server about the differences between the mezcals and which flight they would recommend. The only explanation I received was, "It's just different families, so I'd go with the higher quality one." There was no real information or guidance, and it was obvious they didn't know much about the mezcal selection. I ended up choosing one based solely on what sounded best. We were then informed that the menu had recently changed and is now mostly tapas. That's perfectly fine, but I noticed several items from my previous visit were still available, so I figured I'd order a few favorites along with some new dishes. Most of the food was actually great. The ribeye tacos, tostada, and buñuelitos were all delicious. However, the carne asada was extremely disappointing. We only sent back one plate because I felt bad sending both, and that's when a manager (the gentleman with the man bun) came over. He explained that they have a new chef from Oaxaca, but what confused me was that they were serving Argentinian-style steaks as their carne asada. Instead of a traditional Mexican-style cut, it was thin, flat, and honestly looked like a breakfast steak. For a restaurant that prides itself on being a modern Mexican restaurant, serving Argentinian steak as carne asada just didn't make sense to me. To his credit, he removed both carne asada plates from our bill, which I genuinely appreciated. After that, he asked if there was anything else we'd like. I personally said no, but someone else at the table asked for one more ribeye taco. The manager replied, "You know what? I'll bring you one, and I'll bring them another too." Naturally, I assumed he was offering the extra taco as a goodwill gesture since I hadn't ordered anything else. Imagine my surprise when I looked at the bill and realized both tacos had been added to our tab. I wasn't going to argue over the price of a taco, but it was frustrating because I never asked for it. In fact, I ended up giving that taco away to my friends. If it wasn't complimentary, it shouldn't have been presented as if it were. Another thing worth mentioning is that while the carne asada portion has clearly gotten much smaller, the price remains exactly the same, which doesn't seem justified. Overall, my biggest disappointment is that there was no indication when making the reservation that this was essentially an experimental period with a new chef introducing major menu changes. Had I known beforehand, I never would have recommended Mirate for our dinner, and to be completely honest, I probably wouldn't have made a reservation at all. I only get two days off each month, so this was supposed to be something I could really enjoy. Instead, it honestly felt like a waste of my time and money. I'm sorry to say that while there were a few good moments, they faded very quickly. Unfortunately, the negative parts are what have stayed with me, and that's what I'll remember most about the experience. It's disappointing because I know how great Mirate can be since I experienced it just a few weeks ago. I truly hope they can regain the quality of food, service, and overall experience that made me recommend it in the first place . ( for the picture of the flat carne asada the full steak has 2 more strips added but we had tried it before taking a picture however that's MOST of the "carne asada" portion in the picture )
