The guy named Sam made my daughter a coffee drink and after several times of confirming and he confirmed back that the milk was supposed to be OAT not regular milk due to allergies he still got the order wrong. When my daughter brought it to his attention about the milk not tasting like oat milk he gave her attitude. The school chartered a bus full of high school students to the food market and this guy should know better to treat everyone with respect especially taking into consideration food allergies and he didn't. Instead he took her money $7 for a coffee with supposedly oat milk which gave her belly cramps and will ruin her day but he didn't give two flying cares about what he is serving to people. Shame on you Sam. I will be down there to talk to your manager. If this is true what you are saying about confirming that the milk was not regular then why would she feel sick at this moment. My daughter has been drinking oat milk since she was a little girl about three to be exact and has never felt this sick with oat milk. If your oat milk is different than the standard oat milk served at all other coffee shops then that should have been discussed with her. As a coffee professional that was Sams responsibility to explain that your business uses a creamer oat milk that isn't the same as all other oat milks. The point here is that she became sick after consuming your beverage that Sam made her. This isn't fair to her because she has the entire day at a school field trip and has to continue her day although she is sick. I wasn't there and this correct. Like I said before she is at a schools field trip with her class. She asked politely about why the milk tasted different and yes Sam gave her attitude. Really really terrible customer service. My friends and I were the first ones in line and as the line got longer we stepped to the side so we all wouldn't spill over to the bento box place. After my first friend ordered the lady accused me and my other friend of cutting in line. It's nuts to me that other people have commented on the poor customer service and nothing has been done. What is even going on here that every staff acts like they are being inconvenienced??????????????? Everyone do yourself a favor and go support business owners whom treat you with respect. I only tired the Key Lime Pie which is listed as "World Famous." I can taste why! This is the freshest pie I have ever had with a hint of bitterness that compliments the tartness of real lime. I would have preferred 1. slightly....just slightly more sweetness; 2. a more buttery and nutty crust; 3. a lower price point. At $7 for a smaller than usual slice of pie, it is difficult to justify coming back. The opening of Fat & Flour in Grand Central Market upped my frequency of GCM visits from once a year to once a week. It's a special thing that can make me happily fight the traffic from Pasadena to DTLA, wait patiently behind a convoy of cars all inching up to Level 6 in that Tower of Terror parking deck, and fit my mini-SUV into one of those Smartcar-sized spots. As Los Angelenos, we're used to battling some pretty horrendous parking situations to eat well, and I'd venture to say GCM is among the worst of them. But to experience Nicole Rucker's pastries is more than worth all of this. Our city has been at a loss since her last venture ended, and we are oh so lucky to her back baking again. Los Angeles boasts some pretty great pies, and hers are amongst the best on offer here. I don't need to tell you about the ethereal key lime pie most notably touted by Bill Addison in the LA Times, nor probably her chocolate chess written up by Bon Appetit, but don't miss out on the other rotating flavors on special. I had a perfectly tart rhubarb cherry with the fluffiest crumble one day, followed by a honey pie a few days later so decadently delicious that I hid my second slice from my husband. He'll never know what he missed. But it's my mistake for not buying the whole pie, an egregious error I'll never commit again. So get the pie, get the cookies (because obviously someone who can bake a bombass pie can serve you a pretty spectacular chocolate chip cookie as well), and might as well go and get her cookbook because her pie crust recipe is by far the best I've ever made and you might need it for the days when you can't get there till 3:30PM, and it's of course sold out, you chump. The chocolate peppermint was especially good, a close second to her chocolate chess pie (which is our favorite). She seems to have a rotating menu, as different pies and cookies have been popping up. We'd order one of everything, but if you must absolutely order one thing, it should definitely be the key lime pie! We've had her Dappled cookbook & were happy to have some kind of resemblance to her pies at home. However, we cannot go much longer without the real deal. Serious withdrawals. I'll start this by saying I have not tried their pies. This review is about the COOKIES! I'm such a sucker for a good cookie and these honestly might be my favourite ones ever. I've tried almost every flavour! Rainbow sprinkles owns my heart but it's frequently sold out by the time I get there unfortunately. I burned myself out on lemon lavender, but I know it's amazing. Peanut butter is perfectly crisp on the outside and chewy in the middle. They also had a pumpkin snickerdoodle recently which is two of my favourite things squashed together in a cookie and it was sooo good. I highly recommend! The cookies are $4 each and they're WORTH IT! I have to stop there every time I'm in the office because they're just soooooooooo drool. read more

This year I was FINALLY able to score a Thanksgiving pecan pie before Fat & Flour sold out and I'm here to tell you it's worth the drive to DTLA. The crust is thick yet incredibly flaky. How do they do that? So buttery! Take note pecan pie makers! With lesser pecan pies, the crust is thin, undercooked and soggy. This crust stood up to both the filling and the pecan topping. Let's talk filling. With hints of bourbon, this is a grown up pie, not the gloopy gloppy supermarket or industrialized pie. Not cloyingly sweet, it's even ever so slightly savory. The pie itself was generously spices, nicely browned and fully cooked. No soggy pies from Fat & Flour. No bland sugar bombs, either. This pie is worth its weight in gold and coming from someone who prefers pumpkin pie, that's saying a lot! Picking up food the day before a holiday can be disastrous. The banana cream pie was top notch. Not too sweet with a generous crust. We took the bramble berry home and had it with vanilla ice cream; it was tart and could have been a bit sweeter. came here for valentines to pick up some things for me and others, at first i was just getting things for them and finished getting rung out then i saw it... pecan brownie i think it had honey don't quote me but i immediately ordered it came home. i took a piece just to eat of said brownie and when i say it's the best brownie i've ever tasted i mean it. the fudge was smooth, the pecans in every bite, it was a heavy brownie! this isn't your buy your brownie mix and make your brownies at home situation.
