Fatburger comes in tied for a close second in my book behind In N Out. This is the Fatburger where my eating challenge days ended in a fit of meat sweats. I finished the triple King burger challenge, but the rest of the night I was bloated, sweating, and lying awake with chills. My wife said she was sick of seeing me get beat up by these eating challenges, and loved me too much to keep watching me suffer like that. So, I hung up the gloves and I haven't done a challenge since. Now my go to burger is the Kingburger with everything. It's greasy goodness--I mean grease running down your forearms goodness. I prefer the fat fries to the skinny ones, but both are good. This place gets crowded, and sometimes seating can be hard to find. When it's busy, it can take awhile for your food, maybe 15 minutes. It is pricey for a fast food burger, over $11 for a Kingburger, fries and a drink. When I won the challenge here, the picture wall was only a third full, and recently I saw that it's all filled up. I couldn't even find my picture. Nobody nowadays appreciates the old champs...I'm like the Sonny Liston of eating. read more

Go to, "The Counter", "The Habit", "In N Out", so many places to get a decent burger in LA.... Overcooked burger..... every. single. time. It's wonderful to watch the dejected cook at once gingerly handle the spatula, and then after patting all the moisture out of the patty, leave it to "coast" on high heat as they put the mustard you didn't ask for on the bun. I have a confession. Judge me if you must, but it's time I admitted it. I don't like burgers. Once in a great while I get a craving for one of the frozen pucks of meat that you buy at Costco. A burger for me has to include mayo, cheese and ketchup. Otherwise, I'm not even going near it. Anyway, let me get to the review. I was sort of forced into eating Fatburger, so I tried to make the best of it. I ordered a baby fat with all of the above mentioned accouterments but I took it one step further. I added an egg. Lo and behold! A burger I didn't hate! The egg made it almost taste like breakfast (which is my favorite meal) and the burger was juicy and actually didn't taste like icky raw ground beef (my usual complaint about burgers). This is disturbing and very hard to write. I absolutely love fatburger. I crave fatburger. How can you not love the Kingburger with chili, cheese, bacon, egg? Fatburger never changes, but the prices have skyrocketed. After Tommy's, this is my favourite Southern California chain burger joint. It would have five stars if it weren't for the high prices. I don't eat here as much as I used to, because it's just not a value anymore. The jukebox here used to be better - you could listen to Rhsaan Roland Kirk while eating. I always have problems at this fatburger. The workers don't listen to the customer and do what they want. I ask for no lettuce and no tomato. What did they do they put extra lettuce and tomato! When they called my number I went to the counter and saw the burger. I told them it was wrong. They argued with me saying it was what I order but it was not. But they argued and insist it was right. I never eat lettuce and tomato on my burger. Then the cashier argued with me. Maybe it is their limited English skills? But they never offered to remake it so asked for a refund. read more

I have not visited FatBurger since the early 90's, even though I have thought about it on occasion. Yesterday my girlfriend wanted a bacon cheeseburger, and I could think of nowhere relatively close so we decided to visit the Fatburger on PCH and PV BLVD. She got a large bacon-cheeseburger and found it, "okay." She did complain that the wrapper indicated that cheddar was available, but on the ordering board it was not. I got a XX bacon-cheeseburger with egg. I received an XXL cheeseburger with no bacon and no cheese. It was too far to drive back once I opened it up to eat it. It is a good thing I was hungry, because overall, it was blah. It was big, but I have had much better burgers elsewhere. Plus they don't charge an extra $2.00 for items they are not going to add anyway. If On the Rocks had to-go orders, or if I had thought of it at the time, I would have gone there. WOW! All I can tell you is that this is the kind of burger I used to get when I was a kid. A hand made patty, not some industrial pressed who knows what! Charred perfectly. I had it loaded. OMG! It was BEEF, succulent, tender and juicy, not a dried piece of cardboard. If you don't want beef you can have a turkey burger. If you are a carnivore this is it! The bun was fresh and soft, ummmm. It had everything on it, but of course, you can have it any way you want it. The service was friendly and polite and I was there late in the evening (11pm). I used to like Fatburger a lot, but this one is pretty disgusting. The hamburger meat seems to be a poor quality and the fries are lacking. I haven't had a shake in awhile, so I can't judge that- but seriously, wash your hands or put on gloves after working with the register! I see you taking my money and then putting together my burger. I didn't eat my burger, because I like sanitary conditions. BTW, I wouldn't even try to park in the lot. It's a clusterfrak. The Burger: 5 Stars! My XL was cooked just as I requested - pink in the middle. Ordered it with cheese and all the standard offerings were ample. It was delicious! Fat Fries: 5 Stars! Good amount this time. I don't know how they do it, but the fries stay hot for a really long time - perfect! No matter what I do at home that's never the case. Service: 5 Stars! Back to normal. Prices: 3.5 - 4 Stars. Better quality, taste & value than other fast food places! It's also the most expensive, though worth it. Pricing is creeping closer to some pretty good traditional restaurants, however it also offers much bigger burgers for the price than almost any restaurant, and the flavors are terrific. Banana Shake: 2 Stars. Too expensive at $4.25 for quality and quantity. Unless priced low like McDonald's and similar places, they need to do a major upgrade - most of all use real fruit and much stronger fruit flavor. I'd rather pay even more for much better taste & quality. More Good Things: - They are open late! 3am on weekends, midnight the other five nights. 5 Stars! - Fatburger is still a great notalgic roadside stand type of a classic burger from a long gone era. Best burger around (5 stars), places has been remodeled and is very nice inside, employees are great and the atmosphere was pleasant. My one gripe would be that while waiting I noticed that my burger was done and they were waiting on the fries I don't like cold food so I asked for my burger and they can give me the fries when done, well I finished my burger and still no fries, I think I was forgotten, I got my fries and they were ok but would have been better with my burger. that experience alone is why I gave 4 stars. The last "great" southbay hambuger stand! Dwight leads a fan friendly approach to customer loyalty and serves the best in the hollywood riviera meal mecca. The staff is super outgoing (Fatburger tradition) and appreciative of your spending your salary for dinner. The downside is the price for what is labeled "fast food." The average meal is $12 including choice of burger, with fries and soda. Look out for the extras... Chili, egg, cheese; and shakes are all additional. Regardless of the price, you can't beat this burger as best in the bay. My only disappointment is the loss of the traditional burger names of Baby, Fat, and King burger respectively. Quick & Dirty: A Cheeseburger from Fatburger is pretty darn good! Dare I say better than In-N-Out? Long & Fat: I love me a Fatburger! The last time I had a burger from a Fatburger must have been over 10 years ago. Then the other day me and a buddy stopped in here to have one and boy was it a mighty tasty burger! I'm not sure why I don't usually think of going to Fatburger when I'm craving a cheeseburger but after the other day, that has now changed. Their burgers are big and juicy and freakin' great! You can even get a Turkey Burger which is nice. For fries we had two kinds, skinny (regular) and fat (steak fries) and they were both fantastic. The skinny fries in my opinion were a little better having been a little crispier, which I like. Red Robin still has the best steak fries in my opinion. The hamburger stand has indoor seating which is good for those not so nice days but there are also a few tables outside too. It took the girl a few minutes to find us outside but once she brought us our daily caloric intake, we were happy guys! Would I go here again? You bet. We went for a walk at the pier just for a bit to get out of the house, the baby needed some fresh air as well... We got hungry so we were debating on what to eat we were going to eat sea food but we decided on burgers instead. My bf decided why don't we go to FatBurger I mentioned I've never ate there before so he said it was a must. He was right. When we went inside the place seemed nice and clean music was playing it was good atmosphere, the only reason this is not 5 stars is because staff was not all that great there was a girl at the register when we were deciding what to get then all of a sudden when we were ready to order she kinda rolled her eyes looked at the guy who was working there n wanted to switch. The guy wasn't too bad I guess I mean I thought that was pretty rude to just go ahead and move as we were gonna order. The guy wasn't all that smiley he was pretty plain in his way of being I just felt pressured to order anything since I've never been there before. Finally we got our food and it was huge the burger was bigger then I expected even my boyfriend who's been there before wasn't expecting that haha he said they've gotten bigger he thinks. I don't get out to LA often but when I do I make it a point to go to Fatburger. I typically get in late at night and it's a quick walk from my hotel. I love that they have online ordering so I'm able to order my burger and walk right over and leave with my burger in hand. You can't ask for anything better. The burgers are moist and juicy and the fries are just right. Combine that with quick service and you can't go wrong. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to try my burger with an egg...it sounds good but weird. read more

Is it bad when you walk in to Fatburger after placing a phone order, and they know who you are? I blame my husband. Fatburger (and the fact that we live about a block away from one) was completely off my radar until my husband introduced me to it. Now I actually crave that tender, juicy meat with toppings customized to my specifications and those yummy skinny fries. I think I may have a problem. The fact that they know me says it all! I simply can't stay away - especially now that they have a really cool soda machine that allows something crazy like 250 flavor combinations. Fun! This used to be my absolute favorite burger place in the world (5 stars easily) but they have raised the prices in a MAJOR way. It's like they forgot they were a fast food restaurant! Ah yes, Fatburger. I used to go to Fatburger's when there were only 2 stores in the entire chain. I used to love getting my favorite Double King Egg Cheese Bacon burger with fries. They were the most juiciest, flavorful hamburgers I have ever had. That's when I had a really hearty appetite. Due to the salmonella tragedy of a decade ago, most burger vendors are making them extra crispy. That is truly unfortunate since what made these Fatburgers so Fat and Juicy was the moistness of the meat being cooked to about medium. I requested to have my burgers cooked medium but was told due to liability issues they cannot. Its a tragedy, taking a really good juicy burger and making it into a charcoal brickette. Sadly, this place is not as good as it used to be. This location just opened after several week of renovation. Frankly, the place looks pretty much the same, and it lost some of it's classy style. My biggest complaint about this place is the wait for food. My family waited 20-30 minutes for our food! How long does it take to cook burgers? My second biggest complaint is the price. The food here is so OVERPRICED. In all, my family spent around $50 which could've been spent at a restaurant with actual good food like the Cheesecake Factory or Outback. I used to love Fatburger and their food used to be the best, however, they have lost me as a customer. They call this place the last great burger stand, but I'm here to say the last great burger stand has died. I'd rather go to In n Out and get a decent burger for half the price. read more

Give it up for Fatburger! The world's slowest custom built burger. There's only one reason to get a Fatburger and that is to get the most huge outrageously overbuilt burger you can get. I'm talking a Double King with cheese, eggs, bacon and everything on it. If you're not going for the whole deal, yeah, you might as well go to In N Out. However, this particular Fatburger has an extra bonus. It has, by far, the greatest jukebox I have ever seen. I'm serious. I think the thing is hooked up to iTunes because you can hit the ' more' button, and it will go find music for you. You put in a five and it gives you like 20 credits or so, and then you pay different amounts of credits depending, basically, on how hard it has to work. You can make it move the last song you picked directly to the front of the queue. That's not necessary when you're the only one selecting songs (which it does play in the order you selected), but when there are other people in there or songs playing that you want to skip ahead of, it's extra cool. So put in five bucks because you will be waiting for your Fatburger. But by the time you hear all that good music, you will forget the time spent, except to say it was a good time. read more

Soooo, I had a craving for a burger today for lunch and so I debated whether to come to this place. I've been to the one in Westwood when I was going to school in the area in my younger days so decided to go for old times sake. Fortunately, I found parking in front because the lot is pretty small. I placed my order and was shocked at the $12 bill I got stung with...what?!?! I had ordered the Turkey Burger which was supposed to be 1/3 lb of meat but after getting my order, the burger seemed way, way small! Seriously, the price for the burger was $4.69 and I was surprised at how small it was. It reminded me of the regular burger at McDonalds. They also charged me an extra $.99 for adding cheese. I do admit, the fat fries were pretty decent. Although, the ketchup had this different tangy taste to it that was noticeably different than the traditional ketchup taste. The shake was pretty awesome--peanut butter shake! I thought this shake was really tasty especially since I love peanut butter. I'd go back just for the shake actually which set me back $3.39. They did have a juke box playing some cool tunes but the place was slightly dumpy I thought. There was a bench in a booth that had an out of order sign on it. They had counter seating by the windows for those who want to watch the traffic flow by on PCH or are just dining solo. It did take a while to get my food which was strange since it wasn't that busy. I still think In-n-Out is the way better tasting burger and has a greater value for what you get. Heck, I'd even go for the Carl's Jr. burger which probably is a lot bigger and you'd pay a lot less. Not sure I'd find myself going back here but it did satisfy my burger crave for today. For my indulgence, I'm paying for it by having to spend 1.5 hours on the treadmill to work it all off! We were getting on the road to go out of town and on the way to get gas we passed Fatburger. Since none of us had had Fatburger in ages we decided...why not! First off, parking at this particular Fatburger can be an issue. It's on a corner and entering and exiting can be a little tricky. One nice person parked cross-ways and blocked off about six spots (I'm sure karma will come back). We ordered without a problem and waited approximately six or seven minutes for our food. We got our drink cups and filled them up at one of the new self-service soda machines that held 25 different kinds of soda and were on our way. Judging by how quiet the car was as I drove, I would say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food! The only thing I would have like more would have been if they had a drive-thru!
