Had the enchiladas pollo. It took quite a while for them to make. For the price, it seemed kind of expensive. 2 smaller pieces of chickens plus the enchiladas. The chicken itself was somewhat dry and didn't particularly seem fresh. The enchiladas were fine, I was told this is the more traditional kind and not the typical ones you'd see in the US. I got ripped off pretty bad. Ordered a banana milkshake which wasnt priced on the board (nothing is) as the lady is already making it she rings me up and charges me $12.00 for a freaking milkshake. She used two bananas, a spoonful of sugar and ice. Nothing special. Not even jamba juice or whole foods charges that much. read more

Ok so here we go again... I heard many comments about this place so i decided to give it a try. So the food is actually as good as they say. But they did forget to mention a few things which i will point out in this review. Be ready to wait for your food...the wait time after you order is not as good as you would expect. I came here with a couple of coworkers for a quick lunch break. At first, it seems like a very small place with not too much to offer, but it quickly became a very hospitable environment with a good food selection. The man at the register was very polite, and addressed me in a courteous manner. He even delivered the food straight to our table (we were a party of 6). The torta I had was amazing! Just the right amount everything. And the banana licuado I had was sweet and creamy perfection. Minus one star for only taking cash and no card. If I forget to pack a lunch, I come here on lunch break on Fridays, in the middle of a hot work day at the farm. The food is fine. The wait is long, but the food is pretty good, and REALLY greasy. sooo... my boyfriend and i came here bc we love mexican food bc we're mexican :) when we walked in, place looked disorganized and filthy; first red flag. we ordered, customer service was barely there and we were like whatever, as long as food comes out bomb ! so food takes a minute......food gets there and the waiter brings my drink and places the bare straw on the table that they did not clean before we sat down....she was not wearing gloves either. so this was second red flag. and then.... the worst part :). we are halfway eating and a ROACH crawls on the wall next to our food. yes. so i get up to tell the staff and nobody says or does anything they just look at me and the roach. we ended up leaving after that. don't go to this unsanitary place . I agree with all of the other 'yelpers' in that it's somewhat difficult to find, takes time to get your food--BUT CERTAINLY WORTH THE WAIT... It's an authentic 'taqueria' in that all of your food is made to order(I recommend the corn tortillas), with great tasting, fresh salsas. The prices are very low for having the 'real deal.' They don't have beer, wine so if you were looking to have a brew with your tacos, you are out of luck. Again, I highly recommend this place if you are in the King and Story area of East San Jose and you are looking for some great grub at a great price. If you want to wine and dine and listen to Mariachi or Norteno music, you are going to need to go around the corner to Tacos Al Carbon (there service and food is spotty though). read more

The food would get 5 stars for taste... but, they take FOREVER to make it the tortas are not as enormous as im used to and they are not a very good bargain. Drove her from out of town because I heard the gorditas were good. Although it didn't seem very clean I wanted to try them out before judging. I spent about 80 bucks there brought some family with me to try them out with me. We all ordered gorditas with different types of meat and the cheese one also we ordered some fresh squeezed juice. As I was waiting for the order I noticed one of the older lady cooks was using the phone and writing things down while also cooking with NO gloves or washing her hand in between things she was doing. I'm very big on cross contamination and my stomach was turning just a tad bit hoping we wouldn't get sick. Another worker started handing us over our gorditas and I asked her what each gordita was as she just handed us the gorditas with no explanation and this was the deal breaker for me she told me in Spanish I'm not sure let me see and she tried sticking her finger in the gordita as I was holding it to see what was in it!!!!! I about died inside!!!!! Needless to say we all ended up extremely sick that night it was a rough night. Only reason I give thin one star is because the fresh squeezed juice was good.
