We were excited by the beautiful space and what looked like a good menu. But this place is disappointing and way overpriced. I ordered a hot latte with the seasonal syrup (which was caramelized vanilla.) They give me an iced drink. When I say I got it hot (I specifically said hot because I'm used to getting iced drinks), she makes me another one but either doesn't include the syrup or the syrup doesn't taste like anything - very bland with no flavor. I liked how light it was -- it didn't leave you feeling so full to the point that you felt sick. It feels like a healthier bagel choice, but again, I'm not sure if I would pay for it again. Overhyped! Employees are super friendly and informational. However, the drinks and pastries fall flat. I ordered a cold brew ($7) + ham and cheese croissant ($6). Both items were mediocre at this price point. The cold brew tasted way too ordinary at that price point while the pastries are not able to be heated which makes the taste be lowered. I felt that a lot of the premium pricing came from the decor of the location + the image. At almost $9 for an iced vanilla latte with oat milk, I'd consider that highway robbery. I also don't care for their chai, which was more milk than chai spices. However, I do really like their oolong nitro brew iced tea! It's smooth and refreshing, and at $6, a much better price than aforementioned latte. I'd recommend getting that if you need to camp out here to use their wifi, or get a cold brew or drip coffee, depending on the weather & your preference. Came here with some girlfriends for brunch Food/Drink: We came on a Sunday morning at 10AM, and they had already run out of most of the items on the menu. Seriously?? This is NYC. 10AM is an ungodly early hour on a weekend for brunch. The prices are ridiculous considering that the flavors were meh for both the food and drinks. Even though we were sitting at a table, the drinks were served in a to go container (not trying to save the environment here clearly). They do not provide silverware either, so you have to go hunt that down if you want some. Whipped ricotta and fig toast (sourdough, whipped ricotta, sour cherry compote, truffle oil, lemon thyme, maldon sea salt - $12): We added prosciutto to ours for an extra $4. Having had similar versions elsewhere in the city, this was just ok in terms of flavor. I found it difficult to eat, especially with the wind blowing through the shop and no silverware. Of course, I left starving and went home and made myself a real meal after this Chocolate croissant: standard pastry Hot cocoa: could just be my personal preference since I like more intense chocolate flavor, but this tasted more like warm milk than chocolate Chai latte: word of warning that this is not made with sugar! I didn't find the more intense chai taste to be that offensive, but one of my friends strongly disliked it and regretted spending $6 on this Latte: friend said it tasted like a standard latte Ambiance/Service: There were no tables available in the back, so we were forced to sit in the front. Every single person was wearing their winter coat because the front door does not close, so there was a horrible draft. I didn't realize that the exorbitant prices meant I would have to huddle with my hot chocolate and battle the elements. Service isn't particularly friendly or helpful. I had an iced coffee (in the most awesome takeaway cup) and it was extremely bitter, almost as if the taps haven't been flushed out in a while. Adding to that disappointment, I ordered a croissant, it was placed in the most beautiful bag (great design) but the croissant tasted as if it was purchased from Costco a couple days previous to my visit to the cafe. You really don't need me to tell you how beautiful Felix Roasting Co is. From a block away, I could spot the restaurant, because even it's outdoor winter awning is customized. No detail is spared here, everything from the sugar to the garbage can is customized and beautiful to look at. On top of it, the food and coffee were also really good. I tried the breakfast sandwich - which came on a very delicious, very soft brioche bun. (all the bread is from sullivan bakery, a lot of the pastries are from Supermoon Bakehouse). My friend ordered the ricotta toast with tomatoes and cucumbers and the mushroom bun. Highly recommend the ricotta toast. It was very delicious and came on a beautiful piece of tissue paper that matched the decor of the entire place. Definitely worth checking out if you feel like going someplace that doesn't feel like you're in New York anymore. I wouldn't say it's super cozy, because when everything is that perfect, you feel more like you're in a museum or a TV set, but sometimes you want that vibe. Good luck trying to find a seat. This place is packed and rightfully so. People are here to catch up with a friend or pound out some work over decadent coffee. The decor is so elegant and charming, really transporting you to a European experience. I highly recommend the whipped ricotta and fig toast. All of the ingredients compliment each other so well, especially that bit of truffle oil! Talk about a midtown gem. The interior is amazing, and the drinks are just as fantastic as they look. I loved the s'mores latte - at $14.50, it's definitely the most I've ever paid for a coffee drink, but you pay for the presentation and preparation, and it's totally worth it. It's prepared more like a fancy cocktail (you truly get a show) minus the alcohol. Almond croissant (from Supermoon) was also fab, as was the cold brew. They have free wiFi (which is nice) and have tables and chairs throughout, that have a slight Victorian theme (of which I enjoy). Also, their pastries are amazing! So let me start this review out with I had done extensive research before stopping in at Felix. I wanted to try a different coffee place every day for the 2 weeks I was in NYC on business and it was so good I actually returned a second time for more coffee. For trip #1 I HAD to have the hickory smoked s'mores latte. That is and will probably be the most expensive coffee I ever buy in my whole entire life but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. It tastes just like you're out camping in the woods. I returned yesterday for round two and was disappointed they'd stopped making the Lavender honey latte that they'd had as a special for summer so I had to settle for a mocha latte instead. Bummer. All in all the employees are very nice, it's the cleanest, nicest coffee shop I've ever been in, and next time I'm back in town I'll have to try the next season's coffee special. read more

If you're a Richmonder, this place has mega Ironclad Coffee Roasters vibes. It's cozy and has delicious coffee. I'm obsessed with all things tasty and all things aesthetically pleasing. At Felix Roasting you get the best of both worlds. ***LOCATION*** We're staying in Midtown and this was about 15 minutes south of that. If you're visiting the Empire State building it's a great place to add to your itinerary before or after. It's also not too far from Madison Square Park and the Flatiron building. ***EXPERIENCE*** What a vibe! I adore the interior design here. The wall paper is stunning and inside the glass bookshelves are books wrapped in the same wallpaper. The tiles by the cafe island are beyond charming. It was a little crowded, but we were able to get a seat relatively quickly. The barista was very sweet and quick in answering questions. My partner got a latte and I ordered the Hickory Smoked S'mores latte. He liked his latte. Watching the smoking process reminded me of the s'mores lattes back home. It was a fun process and the barista smoking my drink was friendly and nice to chat with. My drink looked like a cocktail with the nutella and graham cracker rimmed coupe glass. I loved that they were playing ABBA. My partner worked on his laptop (free wifi, good for working) and I enjoyed reading my book. Do note that the tables are a little close to each other, so if you're next to people chatting it can be a little more difficult to read if that bothers you. Headphones will fix that problem though. Plus the whole atmosphere here is made for reading a book with a coffee. I loved their menu options ***PRICE*** The latte was $5.50 and the seasonal drink was $15. A bit on the pricier side, but I think it's because of all the preparation. ***BATHROOM*** There is only one bathroom. Edit: It was my birthday a while back so I got their honeycomb latte. It was unique. I found the flowers a bit off-putting/had to remove them. The other parts of it was delicious but I wouldn't get it again. Unique. Very nice staff in a pretty place make this a local retreat from the area. You'd expect a place like this in Soho or the East Village but I'm happy to pass by and stop in primarily for a tea or their shrubs. The staff here is helpful and the music at least in the early morning is light, mostly indie folk. They serve pastries from Super Moon which is a refreshing change. I'd give a extra point for their milk selection. Their homemade nut milk made with pepitas (similar to a pumpkin seed) and other ingredient is delicious with a nice lightly sweet aftertaste. While I am not someone who prefers almond milk drink, it's on tap and free which is a nice change from other places which can charge around 50¢ to a $1.00 more. Their lattes and other drinks have a nice extra flavor thanks to this. I usually get their cold brew nitro tea which is 5$ and completely worth it for a price. They use a fancy oolong here (iron goddess) and it's nice and strong but not so bitter. They also like most other coffee places have matcha but theirs is different as they use a brand from Fukuoka instead of the usual Uji like most places. Their latte is frankly better mostly due to their unique nut milk. Their normal matcha drinks are slightly lacking, being not stirred enough usually so there is a bit of grain. They have a rotating selection (by season) of shrubs which are fruit infused sparkling drinks. They range from a bit overdone (their cider one which was overpowered/too spicy from the vinegar/pepper) to good (their passion fruit one which isn't being made for a while still) to one good enough I'd want to drink every day (their blood orange one.) If you are unsure if you'll like it, they'll give a small sample which is always appreciated. Overall, this place is excellent. The prices are high but you get what you pay for in spades (usually.) And I always appreciate the attempt at latte art in a small glass cup.
