We returned on a Thursday around 5:30pm for dinner. Got a table immediately. Restaurant was only 15% full. Friendly waitstaff. Ordered the omakase sashimi 10pcs, miso walu, anago nigiris, muki hotate 3pcs sashimi and king sake toro 3pcs sashimi to share with my partner. Sushi tasted fresh. Originally wanted anago as a 3pcs sashimi but the chef recommended it as a nigiri. I recommend not to pour any soy sauce into the dish because all the sushi was already dressed and we were reminded by the chef each time. Bill after tip came out to about $170. We had to dine elsewhere because we were not full.

Our first time at Fenikkusu was a few months ago and it was lovely. Small, quaint establishment with a dark, moody ambiance. There was a nice variety of options and all of our items were delicious. The server/host was wearing multiple hats that night. He along with the sushi chef were welcoming and courteous. We would definitely stop by again when we are in town.

Cute intimate spot, delicious tapas style dishes, & sashimi. We were for date night and had the most pleasant experience. Our waitress was so sweet and honest about recommending the best dishes for our $ and flavor profile. We were seated toward the back in an intimate two seat table, and next to us were to friends who seemed to be catching up on life over a meal. Loved conversing with them and sharing what items we were all ordering. Honestly - likely why I'm giving 5/5 stars as vibes were amazing. The 5 piece omakase was only $30-$35 (I think) and each piece was unique with their own flavor profiles & sauces. Such an experience with each bite. We enjoyed the idea of tapas style dishes as we got to try multiple items (not all pictured) and some were a new take! Corn Tempura--fire fire fire. We love IPA, so when we saw Matcha IPA on the menu we were so excited because we have yet to try. Such an elite combo!

Went here for dinner on a Saturday night around 8pm. Called ahead and got a reservation for two but there were empty tables when we arrived so you may not need to do that. Staff was very friendly and the place is cute and has anime decorations. We got the five piece omakase nigiri and a selection of four nigiri and shared some tapas. To me, the tapas were the star of the show. We got the ika and uni, baked baby scallops with uni, the shishito peppers, and the miso soup. The scallops were phenomenal! It comes with two little bites on two scallop shells and since it's baked there's a delicious caramelization that blends well with the uni and scallop. Must try! They ika and uni I recommend as well. I also recommend the king sake toro (it's torched) and the o toro. Some of the nigiri like the scallop one had too much wasabi for me. Cute spot if you're in the area!

Great neighborhood spot for authentic sushi. This is not your Americanized sushi roll experience but high quality sushi. My group tried the corn fritters, gyoza, and 8 piece omakase--it did not disappoint. The restaurant is bigger than it looks and we were able to get a last minute reservation for 5 people without a problem.

Holy hell this place was good. It was giving authentic Japanese cuisine baby, there wasn't a California roll on the menu. Fantastic Japanese tapas and everything was so Delicious. Me and my mansss enjoyed the Valentine's Day pre fix menu which came with a variety of dishes, including sashimi, omakase nigiri, hamachi crudo, udon, yuzu brussel sprouts, trip tip katsu I mean I could go on. We particularly enjoyed the thiccc and saucy enoki mushrooms. The flavor was buss down! The service was quick! The sake was flowing! I need to come back asap!

Fenikkusu serves some interesting dishes that you wouldn't find at your typical Japanese restaurant. As the name says they serve tapas (ie small portion) dishes and specialize in sushi. The mini kaisen don is the real star of the menu and is a well thought out balance of sashimi rice, aromatics and salmon roe for some brininess. The mentaiko pasta is also a really awesome dish. I would come back here for these two dishes. I also enjoyed the corn fritters and the mackerel. I would stay away from the oxtail pot and is the main reason why I didn't give a five star rating.

The ambience of this place is so cute and cozy. We got the matcha IPA which was so smooth. Then we got the mushroom in miso sauce, escolar, and 8pc omakase. The chef makes it in front of you if you sit at the bar and he was super sweet! Amazing service and even more amazing food.

Hamachi carpaccio- a must order, very good!

Cozy sushi and tapas spot in Mission. Service was great, very attentive. Food we tried were all good. We ordered- Hamachi carpaccio - 5/5 a must! $13 Mentaiko udon - 5/5 a must, chewy noodles so flavorful I would come back for these! Waygu carpaccio- $15 Unagi don - flavorful $26 5-piece Omasake nigiri - $28 this was my least favorite as somehow the fish was flavorless. Overall a great Japanese tapas place with sake.

I can't believe the last time I went to Fenikkusu was all the way back in spring last year - it way too good to be missing it for so long! This time I tried: - three-piece sake nigiri - my one true fish love is salmon always and forever - it was so fresh and buttery here - mini kaizen don - had the most adorable presentation/I wish I could keep the baby wooden spoon. The fish was a good variety and again very fresh but did not include sake so I'm glad I ordered that separately! My favorite part was the uni which was SO creamy and the perfect touch of sweet. Lovely place and it seems like you can count on being able to get a table quite easily!

great service better experience! The omakase is phenomenal and melts in your mouth. I recommend getting a bar spot for the full ambiance of the establishment.

Amazing service and ambiance and even better food. This place serves wonderful omakase that's fresh and unique, but my favorite is the mentai udon. It's amazing and I always get this as takeout as well.

Because it serves as the Warwick's restaurant, it is open for breakfast daily, serving standard American fare plus things like a Tortilla Española (a dish with eggs and potatoes) and a Belgian Waffle. Breakfast service ends at 10:30 a.m. and then they close for an hour. I've never been here for breakfast and can't opine on it. But unless you're staying at the Warwick, you're probably coming to Bota for lunch or dinner to get tapas and paella. I have dined here a number of times, by myself and with family, and there hasn't been anything I've tried that I haven't liked. Service is friendly and attentive, although if it's super packed with theatergoers things might slow down a bit. The ambiance is casual. I recently had their gazpacho and it was really good. Among the tapas, a stand-out favorite is the bacon-wrapped dates. I also like the brussels sprouts and the patatas bravas. Their paellas are delicious. My favorites are the Valenciana and the Fiduea Surf and Turf. I haven't had the nerve to try the one with squid ink. Paellas take about 20 minutes to prepare--you can't rush perfection!--but I promise it's worth the wait. The "regular" size paella easily serves two. Three if you've been noshing on tapas while you waited. The large one serves four, at least. And yes, you are supposed to scrape up the crunchy caramelized bits that stick to the pan. That's called "socarrat" and it's the best part! Something that isn't on the menu that I recently learned: You can ask for a "personal" size paella for one person, which costs about half of the price for a regular one. The availability of the personal size is at the chef's discretion and it may not be offered at busy times. It's intended mainly for solo diners or when only one person in the party wants paella. But if they say no, you can always get a big one and take what you don't eat away in a box. It's almost as good reheated the next day. I say this from personal experience. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass, including house-made sangria (red and white). I've had the red one a couple of times and liked it. Please do not miss out on this gem!

How good can a meal possibly be? Can it be so good that you never want it to end? Oh my God,…read moreeverything we ate was that good. We. Were. OBSESSED!!! As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed with applause, like everyone was already our friend. We sat at the big communal tables with other groups, and honestly, we loved that experience. I can't remember the name of the potato dish right now, but I included a photo of it--it was the second best potato dish I've ever had in my life. And that octopus... you just want to reach over and hug it because it's too perfect to eat. It was incredibly tender on the inside, with the lightest, crispiest exterior. And that amazing flavor... ahhh, it was so, so good. We also ordered a steak, but I realized I forgot to take a picture of it. It was delicious too. The only bad thing about this place? The portions eventually come to an end. Guys, you seriously need to invent never-ending portions. The churros were amazing too. Every single dish was unique. You could tell so much thought and effort had gone into creating flavors that were anything but ordinary. Even though we were seated about 30 minutes after our reservation, it honestly didn't bother us one bit. I think I could've waited two hours and still thought it was worth it. How did you do this??? How did you manage to get a review like this out of me? Seriously, well done. We'll definitely be back as soon as possible!

I was standing outside of the "store" and a woman opened the door to tell me that they didn't open until 5. I told her that we had a reservation at 5 and that I understood. No way was she going to let me in early to get off the street (in a fairly rough area). Entryway smelled of urine. When the rest of my party arrived, they were closer to 5 but we still had to wait until exactly 5:00 to get in. When we finally got in, the fake, pawn shop front was pretty cute. We got the ceremonious tour and speal and were lead into the back where the bar is. They sat us upstairs in back and let us know that we had 1 hour before we would need to leave for a large party coming in. Limited menu for both drinks and apps. No entrees, couldn't even get a Cabernet. The "large party" coming in to kick us out never materialized. Overall feel was that they didn't want us as customers. Not impressed. I can spend my money in better places.

It's pretty dimly lit inside with plenty of couch-like booth seating, as well as regular tables. The noise levels were pretty standard. The bathrooms are hidden behind a curtain. Service: This is where I docked a star. The server we had was so unfriendly. He was trying to rush us to make a decision about food and when we asked him about certain items, he didn't really describe the items at all. He just reiterated the menu, as if we're supposed to know what that meant. We asked about the Tagine and had no idea what it was and he just repeated tagine, which, wasn't helpful at all. We had to keep asking for water because they didn't have someone coming by with water, and when we did, it was like we were asking for the moon. It was so much trouble. Food: Trio of Spreads - very flavorful and served with pita bread. There wasn't enough bread for all the dips, but we basically used other dishes we had to dip. I wanted to clear everything and lick the bowls. Spanish Octopus - one single tentacle, charred and perfectly cooked, however for $26, would I order this again? Likely not. I thought it would be at least two, or a pretty sizeable one. The flavors balanced well, as well as the textures. Spring Lamb Shank Tagine - this came in a closed ceramic cone, which they opened and presented to us very quickly. The lamb was tender and pulled apart immediately with a fork and the meat was so juicy. The surrounding root vegetables were also tender to the bite and refreshing paired well with the heavy lamb taste. TL;DR - Inside seating is nice and not windy. Server was rude and you don't get good water service. Food is tasty. Overall would recommend.
