Ordered a patty melt medium well and a chicken sandwich on a sourdough roll. The patty melt came first and it was almost raw. Sent it back to be cooked and still it was not fully cooked. parts of the sandwich appeared to be raw. Chicken sandwich came on a sourdough bread. Not on a roll as requested. I explained to the person who brought us my meal this was not correct. She informed me that she was not the waitress and she would get her for me. We watched her go over until our waitress or server and explain there was an issue. The server proceeded to take two more orders. These orders were of ice cream only since the customers were already done with their meals before she came over to our table. At this point, she informed me that they didn't have sourdough rolls and once again I repeated to her I didn't want it on a hamburger roll or a bun and asked her which kind I could get. I ordered it on Dutch crunch. We continue to watch her speak to fellow employees about us because they were all looking at us as she was talking.. it did also appear that she was speaking to a manager pertaining to the issue as well. 20 to 25 minutes later I finally got my sandwich. actually had to track someone down to get a refill of lemonade.. And another server whom had taken over from our original server checked on us.. No one even offered us any compensation whatsoever;nor an apologize .Really poor customer service. The sandwich should've been expedited as far as I'm concerned. We do go to Fenton at least once a month. I'm not sure if I will go back to this facility again for lunch. We joined a group of 17 friends on an early Wednesday evening for some dinners and desserts. Let's start with the positives: As most of us recalled, the food was very good and portions were generous. And even with our large number of diners, our food arrived quickly and without error. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy and the noise level was very reasonable. The negative. None of us had experienced our current complaint at Fenton's before. We asked if our checks could be divided among the several couples. We were told that our total bill could only be divided three ways (???) but it was never clear exactly what that meant. (the total bill divided by three OR three subgroups of guests who might be sitting next to each other) Before we could gain any clarity about this subject, our server produced a single bill with all of our food on it. Someone then asked about the senior discount and before long, another long bill was provided with the adjusted amounts. The ones who had been there before with a group said that splitting the bill several ways was never a problem before. Particularly since we asked about this prior to ordering, we were surprised to be told that it "couldn't be done". And had we all sat at separate tables apart from the others, we would of course be offered a separate bill. Our only conclusion was that as good as everything was otherwise--food, generous portions and prompt delivery--it really was just laziness on the part of our server to not provide us with separate bills. read more

A scoop of ice cream took several minutes to arrive--I actually got up and asked the ice cream guy about it since it was taking so long. I knew it was fruitless to continue asking the waitress since she basically ignored me most of the time I was there. We went to Vacaville and found out they have Fenton's. It's located in a commercial center right in the heart of Vacaville. There's a lot of parking and the place has a lot of tables and chairs. The sandwich came in warm and once you take a bite, you can see the melted cheese coming out of the sandwich. The bread looks like pan fried with the meat and was delicious. There was a really long & slow moving line to get some ice cream tonight.. we were on our way back from the Sierras towards the Bay Area and I was craving a little ice cream on this very hot mid june evening. This review is mostly about the service We were seated outside but took forever to get served. The reason given by the waitress was that the hostess never communicates to the wait staff. Ok I can deal with that. No deductions. When we finally ordered, we asked for the ice cream to come out when we are done with our dinner. She tucks my cup (straw sticking out and all) inside her armpit and she takes the order of the next table. They have a ton of questions and she spends maybe 5 minutes with them. My poor straw is next to her armpit. 1 point deduction. She finally finishes taking their order and says she'll be right back with my soda and the ketchup. She comes back in 30 seconds. If people are waiting and you have a cup in your hand, please just fulfill that task first. The fries are waiting for the ketchup. No deductions. We finish the rest of the meal pretty quickly. Waiting for ice cream. Sat for a while, never got checked on again, no more soda refills. Water didn't get refilled once. At this point I'm debating going inside and finding her to let her know to bring out the ice cream. But that would be rude so I don't. Fenton's is an amazing place. It's an Oakland institution and they opened number 2 in Vacaville at the Nut Tree. It's a fit! The place is a little bare, but also, considering it is a new building trying to be an old fashioned ice cream parlour, it's ok. It gets the vibe. While we waited for our food, we had a lot of fun watching the soda jerks make sundaes and all the other ice cream concoctions that are ENORMOUS. Then, we watched them get delivered to the table and took bets on if they would be finished--LOL. Our sandwiches were delicious and freshly made. All were enjoyable. We got single scoops of ice cream and chose to do that at their smaller scoop shop. We realized that any ice cream that we ordered at the restaurant was going to be too big for us on this trip. Came here on Wednesday around 6pm with my husband and kids. Surprisingly, it wasn't loud and full of people. We were greeted and seated quickly. Our waiter, Cory, was excellent! He was attentive and friendly. I think he noticed my little one threw the crayons and gave him sprinkles in a bowl with a cover to shake. I thought that was a great idea because it kept him busy until the food came. The food was eh, but I think people really come here for the ice cream.
