This was the first time that I needed to have my 2016 Equinox in the shop and after looking at several dealerships I n the area I chose Norman Frede. I needed a rental while my car was in the shop and Aaron recommended Hertz in League City because they would pick up the rental when I dropped it off. I dropped my car off Monday afternoon and got a call first thing Tuesday morning about what they found and the cost involved and when it would be ready. Just a few hours later I got the call that my car was ready and I picked it up around two that afternoon. Everyone I talked to in the service department was helpful, polite, friendly and I really couldn't ask for anything more. I appreciate the speed and the reasonable cost for my repairs and for how well I was treated. I will definitely use them again and recommend them every opportunity. read more

Took my $50,000 Corvette in for an Oil change and general inspection. Left it there for 4 hours. When I got it back it looked like it had been trun a desert storm! It had hand prints and finger prints all over the car. Had long arm grease marks all over the fenders. Had scratches on the fenders and generally was abused! I contacted Frede and told them what happened and they said "Just bring it back and we will fix it"! I told them I would take it to my detailer and send them the bill. Of course the refused to accept that. This dealer will never see any on my cars again! They do not respect the vehicles they service! read more

got an appointment for service when I was in town with service dept. at Norman Frede where I bought my avalance new, gave the vin number and mileage (which is low for this vehicle) and got the appointment...got up early and went in and waited in the lounge for a little while when Ana came in and said the service manager had the right to refuse service to vehicles over 10 years old even though she could see I kept my truck in excellent condition...she couldn't say she was sorry enough and did give a phone number to a former service guy who opened his own business. I would think they would be grateful to see one of their trucks sold new and to stay in such great condition and want to be ready to service it. I was also going to shop for a car that would be better on gas (no trade in, I love my avalance) but I will never go to Norman Frede for anything again. read more

Back in June or July of this year, I called in and asked what I needed to do to get on the wait list for the 2014 Stingray. The operator transferred me to Greg McAlpine (because I had no one in mind since I had never bought a car from here), who told me to stop in and just pay the deposit. So off I went to plop down my little $500 deposit. After a couple of months, and a couple of calls, I still had not been notified of when I could come in to select my options. I happened to see a picture of the Stingray on Facebook and commented on the picture of how it was the same color I intended to get IF I would ever get my chance to place my options. Somehow, Chevy Customer Care (CCC) saw my comment and they took it upon themselves to reach out to Frede Chevrolet to see what was going on. CCC assured me that I was in the que, but that Frede was not taking orders yet. Oddly enough, the next day I get a call from Frede stating I can come in and select my options. Coincidence? Me thinks not! LOL. So I went in, selected my options and upgrades with JB and that went very smoothly. His job was fairly easy because I already knew EVERY option I wanted on this car. So he placed the order. Nice guy, I like him! We were told it would be December before I got my car. Ok, cool. I already owned a Vette that I was trading in so it's not like I had never driven one and couldn't wait. Well, in early October, just 2 months or so after placing my options, I got the call from Greg that my car was one of 3 that had been delivered on the first shipment. I think he was more excited about it than I was. LOL. "Ok, I'll come get it tomorrow." So the next day I block time on my schedule to get my car, only to be told they could not put an inspection sticker on it because their machine was out. Ok, no biggie. I'll come back on Friday. So I got my car and I was happy. Greg really took great care of us. Lucky him, all he had to do was show up to work & answer the phone on the day I called about putting down my deposit and voila, he sold a $70k car. Greg gets 5 stars in my book because he is genuinely a nice guy who really wants to please his customers. The reason for the 3 stars is the After Market Parts Manager, Jose (I believe). This guy got a really bad attitude with me over the tint that they put on my windows. I wanted something darker on the back. They explained to me that they put what they always do on the cars and none of the customers mind. Ok, but it's my car and you didn't bother to ask me ... that's an issue with me. They basically shrugged it off and stated, I didn't bother to tell them what I wanted beforehand. So this guy gets 1 stars, but I really wanted to give him -5 stars. He made no apologies for his attitude, instead, Greg apologized for him. Again, Greg is the star of the show here!! I hope he sells a LOT of cars this coming year because he deserves it! I will say that I expected a little more in the way of customer service from this place. I just plopped down a good amount of cash AND traded in my C6 Vette for a $70k, fully loaded C7 Stingray ... but I didn't really feel like I got that from anyone other than Greg. I get better customer service from everyone at Lexus of Clear Lake (whether I am dealing with them directly or not) for a $40k lease vehicle I have for business use. This is just for the collision/body shop, not the car sales. We had someone steal the wheels and tires off our new car and damage the body in the process. So after the other collision place didn't want to help us, our awesome claims adjuster suggested we take it here. I was surprised as I don't have a Chevy but I guess they take all makes of cars! Who knew?! So as soon as we walked in they were super awesome and amazing and I knew we made the right choice! Talk about communication! I never wondered or had to guess what was going on because either Dave or Mitch kept me updated almost daily! It did take close to three weeks but they had to order our wheels special and that took forever so it wasn't their fault, and they let us know where they were at every step of the process. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs body or collision work! No price difference between oil change / oil change with rotate. I have unlimited rotate / balance with Discount Tire and rotate was not due. Ofcourse found this out at time of payment. No multipoint vehicle inspection. Came in with low tire light. Also leaving with low tire pressure light. So tire pressures were not checked either. Sloppy business technique. My fiancé got a used truck here recently & had the check engine light turn on the day he left the lot. Let the dealership know & they gladly offered to cover any repairs at their service center which was great. Took it to the service center that Friday morning & they had it "repaired" by that evening. Picked it up & again, later that night, check engine light came on. Again, the service center said to bring it back in and all costs would be covered-at this point it was a bit of an annoyance bc it is 30 minutes from where we live, but we were still trying to be understanding. The following Friday my fiancé left work early to drop it off, where the dealership was unable to call him an Uber causing me to have to drive over an hour after work to pick him up and him to be stuck there for over 2 hours. They were unable to give it back that day and asked we pick it up on Monday (a huge inconvenience for work-but they covered Ubers and worked with us & the dealers we originally worked with filled his tank for the inconvenience so we again, tried to be understanding.) After picking it up on Monday, yet AGAIN, the check engine light turned back on only a couple hours after leaving, so for the 3rd Friday in a row it needed to be dropped off & had to stay until Monday. He just went and picked it up this afternoon & was told that NOTHING was done to it & that the check engine light is off now & they did nothing to see why it kept coming back on. He also was given it back with the gas light on and an odometer reading of over 60 miles higher than when he dropped it off. Not sure who was driving his vehicle all around town all weekend, but it's absolutely unacceptable ESPECIALLY considering they didn't do any repairs. His family has been longtime customers of this dealership, but unfortunately they have completely lost our business. Customer service here is amazing! My car stalled on me while I was running errands the other day, luckily not in the middle of the road though! I called Norman Frede Chevrolet and I spoke with Trever. He was extremely helpful and patient and walked me through the whole process while my car was being repaired. I was able to drop off my car after hours and pick it up at my convenience. Allan re-explained what happened to my car and made sure I understood what they did. They did recommend another service on my car, but were not pushy at all. It's hard to find someone you trust with your car nowadays, but I will definitely be back again! Really cozy dealership and non-pushy sales staff during my initial purchase. Kind owner who personally became involved when I had problems with my Silverado transmission. Unfortunately, after several trips to the service department, no effort was made to even drop the pan to check for metal on the magnet, to inspect the valve body, or check the torque converter operation on my 1st brand new truck in 12 years. The Norman Frede Service Department simply updated shift parameters, checked line pressure, and checked for pcm updates. All of which did nothing to solve the problem. They then documented that the vehicle is "operating as designed" I have since spoken with 2 ASE Master mechanics who (rode with me) and acknowledged the clunking and both couldn't believe that no further investigation was done regarding the transmission internals. It looks like this dealership has quite a few unmotivated people in the service department. Maybe GM won't pay them much to go any further? I don't know. This is unfortunate because then when I tried to trade it back to them, I couldn't get any of the sales staff to communicate with me after leaving multiple messages. However, the owner was in constant contact. I was very impressed! I thought things were looking up... But, in the end, his service staff didn't try, his sales staff wouldn't communicate with me directly and instead I was simply speaking with a really nice 80+ older owner who couldn't give me any specifics about how to solve the problem by performing a dealer swap for a different truck with a different transmission. Apparently, that was too much work or effort to achieve (I did indeed want a "hard to find" trim level) but there was two at a nearby Chevy dealer. Long story told. Nice owner, he did try to make me feel better, but there was no resolution. After several months of trying to fix my dilemma through various avenues including direct contact with GM, my only option now is to pursue lemon law action or take an approximate $10k loss on a truck that clunks around town. Did I mention I live 225 miles away from this dealership, drove there twice round trip and empathy or loyalty from this place was non existent. I sincerely wish I could recommend this place, but I can't. Normally, smaller dealerships are better, but in this case, suggest a larger dealership for a better selection and better accountability. read more

I've not purchased a vehicle here, nor do I own a Chevy, but I have had collision work done on my non-GM car on two occasions. Norman Frede was recommended by my insurance to fix some storm damage from traveling during hurricane Rita, and more recently repaired minor accident damage. On Wednesday 8/25 at 8:00AM to get a diagnosis on my car as the rearview camera had been displaying while driving the entire time. I received communication from service representative throughout the day that the service team was backed up and finally at 4PM the service rep asked me if I could leave my vehicle up there as the techs had not been able to diagnose it properly even though they had my vehicle for 7 plus hours. I informed the rep that I needed my vehicle and would bring it another day. So today 8/27, I bring my vehicle up there at 7:30 AM. The service rep is providing updates and letting me know once again they had not looked at my vehicle. Finally at 2:18PM, I get a diagnosis stating I need a Body Control Module possibly and to change my custom rearview bulbs as that could fix the issue. I said let's try the bulbs for now and I was informed only one bulb is in stock at the moment. I said I will just pick up as it is late and I thought my vehicle would have been already diagnosed as of the morning time and maybe even fixed by now. I finally picked my vehicle up at 3:30 PM and notice my subwoofers were not working properly. I called the service rep and she stated the tech thought he put everything back together properly. Asked me what the problem was and I told them my radio buttons were not working on my 2014 corvette with 5,000 miles on it. Their response was: "Have you had the car here before?" reply: "No" they said: "My electrical guys are a little backed up" I said "Can I bring it another time" to which they replied "It will be the same deal" So with that amount of information, I don't know if it will be hours, days or weeks until they get to it and I decided to leave. I was in a car accident in late January in my 2019 Chevrolet Camaro. The fault was of the other driver. I chose to bring my car here for service because this is where I have always brought my car for service for the past 6 years. Even my prior vehicle which was my 2014 Chevrolet Camaro THAT I BOUGHT THERE. This was my first car accident ever. "Pete" in Service released the car to me once it was done and I was good to go. It was to my knowledge it was all taken care of by the idiot's car insurance company that hit me. WRONG!!!! They decide to call me ONE MONTH LATER to tell me I owe the dealership $1000 dollars or they are going to take LEGAL ACTION AGAINST ME. Apparently the insurance company sent ME (not the dealership) a check that I was supposed to give to the dealership for payment on my car, even though the dealership had already been paid $11,000 thousand dollars for the repairs. Pardon my ignorance, but this being my first accident, I had no idea. No one from either party informed me of this. PETE from SERVICE calls me A MONTH LATER after the car had already been released back to me to tell me that I owed them $1000 for the repairs and that if I did not pay them legal action would be taken against me. Mind you this happened March 26 after I had just found out I lost my job due to the Coronavirus pandemic, WHICH I TOLD THEM! (They laughed about it). So I called WALTER who is supposedly the "service manager" to let him know of the circumstances and to see what could be done. I told him I am a man of my bills and always pay my debts. I had full intentions to pay my debts. I had no idea I owed them anything. THEY RELEASED THE CAR TO ME!! I told him I did not have the money to pay him and WALTER's response was "WELL YOU CAN JUST BRING ME YOUR CAR AND WE CAN KEEP POSSESSION OF IT UNTIL YOU CAN PAY US" are you kidding me? How disgusting. I begged him to speak with the owner because I was even willing to work out a payment plan but he refused to call me back and I had to show up in person. I ended up having to borrow money from a family member because I was mis-guided by their DISGUSTING terrible service department. When I showed up to speak to him about it in person he could not even look me in the eye and speak to me directly and instead pushed me off to his poor secretary in the front who had nothing to do with it and had to take the brunt of my frustration. WALTER (who again is supposedly the service manager) told me it was my fault and that I should have known I owed this balance. How disgusting. My family of 6 and I have all taken our cars here for service for 10 plus years and I can GUARANTEE that we will NEVER EVER bring ANY business to this DISGUSTING dealership again. WALTER AND PETE HAVE DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS and you as Dealership should be ashamed. And then whenever I FINALLY CAME and paid in full he was scrambling in his office because I asked for a simple paid in full receipt. Scam artists. Terrible. And to treat someone like this after they just lost their job due to a nation wide pandemic?? Pathetic. What a horrible excuse for dealership. Have only used Frede's service department, but they have met and exceeded my expectations in this area. Chance and Clint (service writers) are great representatives of the company and have been very easy to work with. Jose (shuttle driver) is also friendly and professional. Frede price-matches on tires, offers the road hazard replacements AND the shuttle pickup (subj. to availability), so Discount Tire may be losing a lifer. Have also brought my car here for two recall issues that were handled promptly and conveniently. read more

We recently had the need to buy an employee a work truck. I found the truck online and sent on online request for price and more info and was contacted within a few minutes. The price was a bit higher than if I were to have bought the truck from a larger dealership in HOuston (I found the same truck online and did check.) After briefly going back and forth over email and phone, I ended up still paying a bit more, but can't beat the convenience of dealing locally and not having to drive into town and probably spend hours at the dealership. Like I mentioned, I settled all pricing over the phone with Brett (who I highly recommend him if you're looking). I came in a day or 2 later to sign the paperwork which was a breeze and I was in and out in about 45 minutes. I bought my wife her suburban there also a few months back and had a similar, speedy experience. You'll probably pay a little bit more, but its close and no games. read more

Bought a 2008 GMC Acadia used in May 2015. Love the car. The ac didn't work so I told them I'm not buying it until AC is fixed. Took it in 3 times to get fixed. Finally complained to GM and she made them fix it right along with other issues. Recently my car wouldn't start. Had it towed to Norman Frede. They wanted $1800 just to replace the alternator and battery. I nearly feel over. Told them no and put it back together. Took it to a mechanic and he couldn't find anything wrong with alternator or battery. They were both at 100%. I will never buy another used vehicle from them again and I believe they will rob you blind. I'll find another place to do business. Rather than the hard sale after the test drive, he handed us his card and thanked us for our visit. I absolutely loved their friendly, no pressure approach to selling cars. I wasn't ready to buy on the spot, and he knew that. After spending the weekend mulling it over, I contacted Marcus, gave him my information, and he took care of everything before I even had to step foot back on the lot. All I had to do was come in, sign some documents, give them the keys to my trade in, and drive home in my new car. The service department at this dealership is unprofessional and generally uninterested in providing quality service to their customers. I bought my Silverado from a different dealer in 2016 after searching the area for the model with the options I wanted. Norman Frede is the closest dealer to my home, so I chose them as my preferred warranty service provider. My first trip to the dealer came on the occasion of my first oil change, which was complimentary with the purchase of my new truck. I pulled into the service department as I always had at other car dealers, yet no one seemed to notice or care that a customer had showed up. I had to go searching for someone to help me, and more than one person I spoke with treated me as though I was bothering them by asking who could help set me up with an oil change. I only managed to get service when a lady from the sales department approached me and asked how she could help me. It was an unpromising start to my relationship with this dealer. I next visited to have the power driver's seat on my truck fixed when one of the motors stopped working. Like my first visit, it took some work to find someone willing to help me. Even after I did, there was a sense that my service request meant nothing to these folks, rather than as the basis of their entire business. I showed the service writer the issue with my truck, and he seemed to question whether this would be covered under warranty. This on a truck with over 20,000 miles left on the bumper-to-bumper portion of the warranty. I asked why a broken seat wouldn't be covered, and the guy responded vaguely that it could be considered "wear." I had to pull my warranty paperwork out to get acknowledgement from him that a broken seat motor did not fall under the category of wear. I then had to stand in the service booth for 20 minutes while the guy questioned me about how I'd used the seat, what I'd done to break it, and the circumstances under which it had broken. I got annoyed with what felt like an interrogation and finally just asked whether they intended to fix the issue on my essentially new truck. Grudgingly they agreed, but they declined to offer a loaner vehicle, even though they ended up keeping the truck for almost a full week. The final straw with this dealership came when I went in to get warranty service for some valve-train noise that cropped up in the engine around the 30,000-mile mark. The sound was loud and persistent, meaning it did not abate after warmup. Now, such a new engine should never make such a noise, but I could understand if something like that happened briefly at startup. But this wasn't a temporary thing. This noise was more than just a nuisance, too. I was concerned it was a red flag for lifter failure in the future. When I spoke with the service writer about it, one of his first things he did was to question why I thought it qualified for warranty coverage. I was over 6,000 miles under the warranty threshold! I reminded the guy of this, but he seemed unimpressed. Instead, he thought that the truck was too close to the end of the warranty to get the type of full coverage to which I was entitled under the policy. I'd had enough with these folks and finally just left the dealership. Three days later I took it to another dealer, which fixed the issue with no questions asked and no conflict. Bottom line, I would not recommend this dealership anyone seeking warranty service on a new Chevy. The disregard for my concerns as a customer were enough by themselves to make me never want to go back. The dragging of feet over honoring a factory bumper-to-bumper warranty was something I will not tolerate on a truck that cost me over $50,000.
