Had not had issues at Norman Frede before, but this was a bad experience. I called in advance and set up an appointment, telling them I had an appointment at the mall at 2pm. They set the drop off time as 11am so that I would be done in time. They had me explain what needed to be done. I mistakenly assumed this was documented somewhere and communicated with my service advisor. The line was so long for dropoff, my ride was waiting, and I told T. I would need picked up at La Madeleine. After 3 hours, no call, no return call, no driver to pick up (I had to use Uber) and no estimate for work that was diagnosed for check engine light. I had to change appointment plans and scramble. They gave me 'loaner car' which took too long and was a big hassle...making sure I would bring it back full ($1.41 of gas). Dropped the car off at 10:50am for a 11am appt. Didn't get it back until 5:30pm. Definitely no longer worth the drive from Pearland. Looks like service appts are really overbooked. Service guy never apologized...said it was my fault because I didnt tell him when I dropped it off. Clearly no point in calling ahead. read more

When we bought my sons car the service of the sale was great. After the sale it has been consistently lacking. Especially, the people in the service department. During oil changes they just stand there and talk amongst themselves before they even acknowledge your existence. They always seem rude or like they can't be bothered. Apparently, the VIP sticker they put on the windshield means nothing. Last time my son dropped his car off for an oil change he sat in the lane for 10 min before anyone came out. Then the guy comes out and says your in the wrong lane , so I am gonna take care of this other customer first and get back to you. My son was the only car out there in the lane the other car had just pulled up. So he had to wait another 10 min. When he gets his new car it will not be from Norman Frede . read more

Very awesome experience, both the sales staff and the finance staff were so helpful, they explained everything to me without being shady or sneaky. When they assured me I was getting a great deal & making the right choice, I believed them without a doubt! It's been a week and I love my new car more every time I drive it! Especially for ladies, it can be kind of intimidating going into a dealership alone, even when you are familiar with the environment. Definitely ask for Amy Bowlin, she takes the pressure off and makes everything so simple and easy, and you can trust that she's not going to just "make a sale". So disappointed in the service department. I had my car serviced for an oil change and recall update on Tuesday. Both went smoothly but when my car was returned my phone charger was missing. Before I left the lot I made this aware to the service department. Although they implied at first that I misplaced it or that people don't steal nonetheless they offered to reimburse me for a new one. I turned in the receipt today (Wed) only to be told I need to come back later or the next day (Thursday) to pick up the check. So not only have I had my personal property stolen, I've wasted gas, time, and money. Not a happy customer!! I bought a car after Harvey and it has been nothing but a lemon. We spend more time at the shop with this car than I have with all my other cars combined. We have basically had the same issue. Keeps getting fixed, then happens again, always with the engine. Even on vacation we had to find a dealer to have it fixed!!! Now that we are over our miles they did extend our warranty, so now when we go for the SAME issues we have to pay a deductible. We spent a lot of money on this family car and I feel like our issues never get resolved. Tried to get them to make it right and still haven't heard from anyone! We purchased a Certified Pre-Owned 2010 Buick Enclave with low mileage from Norman Frede Chevrolet in August and have been very pleased with the vehicle's performance. Early on a Sunday morning in December, as we were loading the car for a roadtrip, the car wouldn't start. The worst things crossed my mind! Was this purchase just too good to be true? I contacted the dealer the next day, they sent a tow truck all the way to Houston to pick it up and, thank God, the issue was mainly the car battery (which is not covered under the the Certified Warranty). My husband purchased his truck from here and from day one we had problems with getting warranty work done. I talked to the GM Joan McKinney who assured me it wouldn't happen again, yet it did over and over. We took our truck in for VIP oil change and they tried to charge us full price. We took in for service and left for 8 hours and they didn't do any of the warranty work again. So frustrated with them and really did NOT want to do business with them. Yet my husband had been working with a salesman for a few weeks and said they were willing to give what Ron Carter was giving on trade for him, meanwhile I want a new SUV and had a trade in as well. I kept getting the feeling that they didn't take us seriously and they kept asking what we do for a living as if we couldn't afford to purchase a SUV/truck. Matter of fact they did the same thing to a close friend of mine who took in $15K cash for a downpayment. She had to go through the GM to get her deal done because the salesman made her feel like she couldn't afford it either. WHO ARE THEY TO JUDGE? After waiting for a salesman for 40 minutes, another salesman finally stepped up to help. 3 hours later, they were to call us with a deal today. They look at my trade and of course gave me payoff and not what the vehicle is actually worth and the deal they came back with for the SUV and truck were much more than other dealerships. Lesson learned, NORMAN FREDE CHEVROLET is not worth going to for service or sales. Unless you like being treated bad, not getting any warranty work done, over paying and get nothing for your trade.I give them two thumbs way down! read more

I was in a car accident in late January in my 2019 Chevrolet Camaro. The fault was of the other driver. I chose to bring my car here for service because this is where I have always brought my car for service for the past 6 years. Even my prior vehicle which was my 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. This was my first car accident ever. "Pete" in Service released the car to me once it was done and I was good to go. It was to my knowledge it was all taken care of by the idiot's car insurance company that hit me. WRONG!!!! They decide to call me ONE MONTH LATER to tell me I owe the dealership $1000 dollars or they are going to take LEGAL ACTION AGAINST ME. Apparently the insurance company sent ME (not the dealership) a check that I was supposed to give to the dealership for payment on my car, even though the dealership had already been paid $11,000 thousand dollars for the repairs. Pardon my ignorance, but this being my first accident, I had no idea. No one from either party informed me of this. PETE from SERVICE calls me A MONTH LATER after the car had already been released back to me to tell me that I owed them $1000 for the repairs and that if I did not pay them legal action would be taken against me. Mind you this happened March 26 after I had just found out I lost my job due to the Coronavirus pandemic, WHICH I TOLD THEM! (They laughed about it). So I called WALTER who is supposedly the "service manager" to let him know of the circumstances and to see what could be done. I told him I am a man of my bills and always pay my debts. I had full intentions to pay my debts. I had no idea I owed them anything. THEY RELEASED THE CAR TO ME!! I told him I did not have the money to pay him and WALTER's response was "WELL YOU CAN JUST BRING ME YOUR CAR AND WE CAN KEEP POSSESSION OF IT UNTIL YOU CAN PAY US" are you kidding me? How disgusting. I begged him to speak with the owner because I was even willing to work out a payment plan but he refused to call me back and I had to show up in person. I ended up having to borrow money from a family member because I was mis-guided by their DISGUSTING terrible service department. When I showed up to speak to him about it in person he could not even look me in the eye and speak to me directly and instead pushed me off to his poor secretary in the front who had nothing to do with it and had to take the brunt of my frustration. WALTER (who again is supposedly the service manager) told me it was my fault and that I should have known I owed this balance. How disgusting. My family of 6 and I have all taken our cars here for service for 10 plus years and I can GUARANTEE that we will NEVER EVER bring ANY business to this DISGUSTING dealership again. WALTER AND PETE HAVE DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS and you as Dealership should be ashamed. And then whenever I FINALLY CAME and paid in full he was scrambling in his office because I asked for a simple paid in full receipt. Scam artists. Terrible. Ana and JB at Norman Frede are your typical used car salesmen. They use all the same tricks that make people nervous when buying a car. I just don't like being lied to when making a large investment, and I bet you don't either. If they tell you they're not like the 'bigger dealerships' in town, be cautious, it's a bait and switch scheme. They had me wait a month until they had a Tahoe available, promising they would honor my supplier discount when inventory arrived, which was just a lie so I wouldn't buy from Mac Haik Chevy in the mean time, which is the 'bigger dealership' in town who has more inventory. They touted how being smaller, meant they were more customer oriented, more inclined to offer better pricing, and would honor supplier discounts, they specifically told me this. So After a month and not buying from Mac Haik, Frede says we now have a Tahoe to sell, but no supplier discount will be given to you. They thought I would play into their hands and trickery, probably accept the situation as-is after waiting a month, and just buy the Tahoe, but I don't do business with crooks. So I'm telling you now, coming from just a regular middle-aged, middle-class Texan in League City, Norman Frede is your typical used car dealership, keep that in mind if you visit them. While the staff in the Service Department has been courteous & helpful, I will never encourage anyone to buy a General Motors product. The Chevy Cruze we bought has been nothing but trouble. The well documented electrical issues make the car unsafe to drive. We bought the car as transportation for my 17 year old daughter and she's nervous to drive it because of all of the problems we've had with it. Our 2010 Suburban would not start and had no electric power. A volt meter reading indicated the battery had 12.6 volts and was fine. "Clint", at Norman Frede said the charge would be $100 to have the vehicle towed to them, even though the distance was less than 10 miles. Considering I was attempting to give them my business, I was disappointed that they wanted to make money on the towing. I just think that shows little compassion and speaks of a greater love for money than man. After getting the car towed there around 8 AM, I was contacted by Clint a few hours later and told the battery cable was bad and the main fuse had blown, and the cost for this extremely minor repair would be over $400!! While the battery cable was covered by my extended warrant, the fuse wasn't, so my out of pocket expense of $260 was basically for a fuse replacement! Then very late in the day, I was informed by Clint that we might not be able to pick up our car that day because MasterTech (my warranty provider) had not paid Norman Frede yet. This lead me to believe that the delay was due to the warranty company being non-responsive, so I called MasterTech and spoke to the same person who had dealt directly with Clint and I was informed that Clint had not even sent over the request for payment until 4:30 PM! Once it was received, MasterTech sent payment back at exactly 4:32! I find it a bitter insult that for giving my business to Norman Frede, I was grossly over charged and put at risk of losing the use of my vehicle for another day. Clearly, Clint did not deal with me in good faith. Nor did he perform his job with the minimum acceptable level of professional due diligence. That experience is enough to ensure that Norman Frede will never see my business again. It's also enough to ensure that I will share this story with my family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors, not out of spite, but to help prevent others from being taken advantage of as I was. read more

I purchased a 2017 Chevy Impala LT about a week ago. I wasn't in the market for a used vehicle, but the car was a great price so I thought. Pastor and Johnathan had me sold with the OnStar and Android feature. When you arrive they seem pleasant and down to earth. We'll the test drive went well, and that probably was the best thing. Like every salesman the calls started and the deal became very pushy. I spoke with my bank and my finance team and they agreed that it was a great deal. I made sure the dealership received their check. Johnathan called for my email so he could set up my OnStar even had me download the app. So I thought everything was ready to roll. Went to do the the paper work Johnathan wasn't there, so we went to the new dealership to sign paperwork. They told me to activate my OnStar before I left, so that's what I attempted to do. Pressed the OnStar button but the agent couldn't hear me. Left the new dealership and drove back to the used. The girl told me that it happens sometimes just call them directly when I returned home, so that's exactly what I did. Low and behold the OnStar doesn't work. Called Johnathan he was out of town but he told me he would get me in for repairs and we would make and appointment so that I could get a loaner car if needed. Drove from Beaumont to the dealership and everything went out of the window. I truly believe they knew the OnStar wasn't working. No one wanted to help and sweet Pastor turned out to be an asshole. So my odyssey starts out buying into the Norman Frede Chevrolet mantra of buying with him because of his ties with the community, and everything he does to make Clear Lake a better place to live. Heck, I even have a "VIP" sticker on my windshield....I felt they would take better care of me if I have a problem with the 2 vehicles we bought from him in 2009, roughly $60k. I was dead wrong. Fast forward to 11/2014, I contact the salesman we purchased from earlier. We are in the market for a Traverse or an Explorer. Realizing we might want to trade in our 2009 Equinox on either of these options, I inspect our possible trade to find a paint problem. With that, I call Norman Frede Chevrolet's body shop about the problem. I am put in touch with a Body Shop Manager named "Terry", who inspects the problem and checks to see the warranty coverage. The message I get from Norman Fredde and General Motors is "Go Fish". The paint bubbling between the paint and primer is normal and acceptable on this model of Chevrolet product. 5 years old, with 82k miles, and my cost to fix is "about $900." per Terry in the body shop. If it had rusted through completely, it would be covered. I guess I got lucky. / Sarcasm. After hearing this, I decided to inform the salesman that we would not consider another GM product. He was out to lunch, but I met with a sales manager named Tad. After hearing what I had to say, he tried to intervene. This is where the Norman Frede Organization showed it's true colors. The next day I get a call from Tad. He asks if I wanted to trade the SUV in. If so they could make an allowance for the repair needed. I told him no, and that I wanted this resolved before I would consider another GM product. Additionally, I told him that I would most likely retail it myself. The next day he calls me back. The cost of the repair was now $1648, and GM would cover $741. My part is still "about $900.".It's kind of funny how that worked out, huh? I already had another body shop estimate for $650. During my 6 or 7 calls to GM, it was eerily reminiscent of calls I have made to the DMV, or the Post Office. Mediocrity is the order of the day. They could care less about the problem I am having with their product. Oh, and when they tell you when to expect a call back, don't hold your breath waiting. That's why I made as many calls to them. Actually, I am still waiting on a call back from 3 days ago as I write this review. I guess when a company is bailed out by the tax payers, and they ultimately lose 10 Billion on the transaction, my little defective paint issue is not that big to them. It is to me. Maybe the next time GM is bankrupt, we let the chips fall where they may. As far as the Norman Frede Organization moussing the numbers on my repair, I am not that shocked really. It's a car dealer, just like the rest. Caveat emptor. read more

I called Norman Frede service department on Wednesday morning to ask if I needed an appointment for an oil change. The lady in the service department told me that I didn't need an appointment. I asked what time they closed. She told me that if I got there before 5:00pm they could do the oil change since they had 4 technicians that did oil changes. I left work early and drove to Norman Frede (which is out of the way for me). I walked in their service lane office at 4:58pm (there is no dispute over the time). I told them I was there to get an oil change. They told me that they weren't doing any more that day. I told them I had called and what was said. It fell on deaf ears. I left and on the drive home I called the dealership to speak with the General Manager (Joan McKinney). I was transferred to her line and the voice message came on. I called back and told them that I wanted to talk with her and not leave a message. They put me on hold and I waited. When they transferred me through again I got the voice message again. I called back a third time and they assured me that I would get to talk with her. They transferred my call and the service manager picked up the phone. That's not who I wanted to speak with so I told him that and hung up. When you have a customer who feels that they have a problem with your customer service and the General Manager is not going to take a call no matter how long you wait that tells me that customer service is not one of their top priorities. To Norman Frede Chevrolet...when you come on here after bad reviews and claim that customer service is a top priority it reeks of a canned response. If it really was, you wouldn't have such a low rating. Guess who just lost a customer. The same guy who gave you a previous good review because I thought at the time your customer service was great. I've found out now that you are just like the rest of the big dealerships. That's why the independent shops are thriving. I'll bet I could talk to an owner there if I had a problem and wanted to. I have never written a negative review on yelp, but after the discrimination and demeaning nature of my visit yesterday I want to let others know what to expect at Norman Frede Chevrolet. I came here with a family member and was greeted by John Paul. Before I even walked through the door he immediately came to assist me, and I let him know that I wanted to test drive the Corvette Stingray 1LT. After giving him my driver's license for their required copy he came back and told me they do not allow test drives for the Corvette until a deal has been agreed upon. If this was really the case he would have immediately told me so and not bothered to copy my driver's license. Clearly what must have occurred was either he and/or his manager quite wrongly decided that me and my family member looked like we could not afford the car based on our appearance, etc. I would never recommend this sort of place and will go to another Chevy dealership in the Houston area. I was working with Chris over the phone for a few days and I was able to put a deposit to hold the car for me until I had time to make it to the dealership. When I got there I was greeted by Chris as he was very professional and was able to answer all my questions. After half an hour of negotiations we made a deal and I could not be more pleased with my purchase . The courtesy of the staff sales people were all friendly and I did not feel pressured at all to make a purchase. A few years ago I went to NF to have my car service. To my surprise the Service Dept was no where close to caliber of professionalism as the sales team. So I swore off going to NF for my service needs. However recently I decided to give them a try due to one of my friends using them and raving about how nice, friendly, professional and helpful they had been to him. So off I went. When I arrived, I was greeted by a nice young man who immediately introduced himself and gave me a warm welcome. After some discussion, he introduced me to his "boss" who I later found out was the new Service Mgr. (cant remember his name). He was nice and very cordial. He then discussed some of the issues my car was having and assured me they would take care of my car and do everything possible to get me back on the road as soon as possible. After a few hours (which was much faster than was predicted) I received a call from the service adviser to tell me that not only was my car ready...but my car issues still qualified under the warranty. WOW!!! How many dealerships would be honest enough to do that for you??? If you need honest, caring, prompt attention to your vehicle...I would definitely recommend Norman Frede Chevrolet from now on!!! BTW...they do an oil change for $9.95!!! read more

James Young and the rest of the staff I dealt with were very friendly and helpful. I have only heard good things about this service department. I had been a loyal customer of Ron Carter, Alvin, Texas since 2009 when I bought my truck there. The last time I had my truck in for service had a really bad experience so I decided to switch to Norman Frede. I will definitely return for future needs. The only negative think I can say about my experience at Norman Frede is when they rotated my tires, they apparently did not check the air pressure because 1 tire had 28 lbs in it and the other 3 has a range from 35 to 37 lbs. They also did not calibrate each tire so the pressure on the dash was not correct with the tire. I went to Discount Tire the following Monday 5/8 and they took care of this problem. read more

He is very friendly, not pushy and was the best sales person we could have hoped to deal with. When we showed up the cars we wanted to look at were not available (one had just sold and the other was out for a test drive). Bobby showed us another car, and gave us his card. We were "just looking" and in no rush. After a week of looking at other dealerships, we came back to Bobby with specific details of what we wanted. I bought a 2013 Silverado here last year and have had all of my routine maintenance done here as well as warranty & body work. The buying process went as smooth as i could have hoped. I never felt pressured or uncomfortable when signing, which is great, because I always tend to over-scrutinize everything. The times I've had my truck in for service, mostly routine maintenance, the staff has always been extremely friendly and very willing to work within my schedule. My truck sustained a bit of damage in an accident, and I wanted things done right, so I brought it to the body shop at the dealer. The process was painless. I was out the door with a rental car that fit my cargo needs and after just a couple days my truck looked like new again. I can't recommend this dealer enough, compared to the others I've had to deal with in the city in the past. My sales person was Chad. He was extremely patient with me and listened to all of my needs and concerns. I never expected to fall in love with my 2014 Equinox LTZ as it was not on my list of vehicles that I was willing to test. He listened patiently and gave me exactly what I needed. He hit the nail on the head with the Equinox! Love it and am grateful that he really listened and not just sold me any vehicle. I was also extremely upside on my trade and he was able to negotiate a great deal and I only carried over a very small fraction of my negative equity. I have brought my vehicle in for service multiple times over the last 4 to 5 weeks. Most if not all customers would be extremely angry and difficult to deal with after all these visits! I wasn't at all. My Service Tech was James Young and he is a definite ASSET for Norman Frede Chevrolet. He went beyond the call of duty to take care of me, just like it was his car. You could never get me to a car dealer for any repairs because as a young man I worked at McMahon Chevrolet on the Northside in the parts department. I saw a lot of shenanigans back then. READ UPDATED REVIEW REPLYING TO DEALER BELOW ORIGINAL REVIEW: I recommend that you should not even attempt to go to this dealership to test drive a car. I went to test drive a camaro to think about purchasing it, and when the salesperson went to go get the keys they kept coming back to say "that car actually just got sold" or "we don't allow anyone to drive it." If it was a more expensive car, then I would understand why they don't allow test drives but this camaro was in the 30s and they still didn't allow it. They definitely judge you and decide whether or not to let you test drive depending on whether you look young even though your not or discriminate you. This is the worst experience I have ever had with any dealer ever. Don't waste your time going here. In reply to dealers response: Your response to this review shows that y'all are lying to every customer looking at this right now. All you're trying to do is defend yourselves with lies. Y'all were 100% surely discriminating me and not giving a single chance. I know about the processes before test driving obviously every dealer has that process. I'm not stupid, I know that every dealer requires to get a copy of insurance and drivers license. This is not the first time I've been to a dealership and y'all didn't even give me a chance to give the license or insurance because y'all were telling me stupid comments like "we don't allow anyone to drive a Camaro SS." These cars are not even expensive and you still didn't allow me to test drive because you were discriminating. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. I will be reporting this incident and it needs to be corrected. If it was a Z06 that makes sense not to allow people to drive but this is a camaro that's in the $30Ks. This is the first and last time ever going to this dealer due to the amount of disrespect shown towards me and I do not appreciate it.
