I absolutely love the pasta here. If you're someone who believes there's no such thing as too much sauce, this place will make you very happy. They're incredibly generous with their sauces, and the pasta is always cooked perfectly. For appetizers, don't skip the Fete Spread. The spreads are all delicious and fun to try, and the warm, soft bread that comes with them makes it even better. The Carbonara is my favorite dish. It's rich, cheesy, creamy, and packed with flavor. If you prefer a tomato-based sauce, the Pork Ragù is another excellent choice and just as satisfying. Don't skip dessert. The olive oil cake is a must-order. It's simple in the best way, with a moist, flavorful interior and a perfectly crunchy crust that makes every bite delicious. This is a very popular restaurant, so I highly recommend making a reservation. The cozy atmosphere makes it a great spot for date night or dinner with friends, and the service is always warm and attentive. Definitely one of my favorite pasta spots in Honolulu!

I recently went to fete for my birthday dinner. Friends and coworkers of mine have been raving about it for months so I figured it was time to try it. First was parking. Parking in town can be tough if you want street parking so rather than stress I just parked across the street in a public garage. Walking up to fete we didn't even realize we had arrived. There was no signage out front but there was a huge hanging F above the front door. Unfortunately it was windy when I went so it was blowing around and I missed it. For those who also have boy eyes like me, it's on the corner of Hotel and Nuuanu right next to Pizza Mamo. There was indoor and outdoor seating as well as bar seating. I had made a reservation for indoor and we were seated immediately. Tables are on the small side so prepare for crowding. Our waiter was extremely friendly and provided us with suggestions as well as the daily specials. I ordered the special (prosciutto wrapped mahi mahi) and my companions ordered the spaghetti carbonara and the kanpachi for the mains. We also got the quinoa cakes and a baked oyster special for our starters. Prosciutto Mahi Mahi was so delicious. I also tried a little of the other dishes and loved the kanpachi. The carbonara was soooo black peppery I did not enjoy it. Quinoa cakes were good, nothing phenomenal. The baked oyster was a pleasant surprise as I usually only like raw oysters but they were seasoned well and not overdone. Would definitely recommend Fete if you're looking for a trendier place to go that not only is Instagram worthy but also has good food and drinks.

I recently visited Fête for a birthday dinner with friends and had a great experience overall. The restaurant has a very intimate atmosphere, though the dining room is quite small and tables can feel a bit crowded. It was also a little chilly inside during our visit. That said, the service was excellent. Our waitress was incredibly helpful and guided us through the cocktail menu, helping us choose drinks that suited our tastes. We tried the Right as Rain, Spicy Kitty, and Meringue di Cedro cocktails, and all three were delicious. My favorite drink was Right as Rain. It had a tart plum flavor with bright citrus notes and definitely wasn't shy. If you enjoy cocktails that are both fruity and strong, this is an excellent choice and something I would absolutely order again. For appetizers, we ordered the Fête Spreads. The Persian eggplant and mac-nut tapenade were the clear favorites at our table. The ricotta was good, but it didn't stand out as much as the other spreads. For my entrée, I ordered the Sweet Land Farm Salad with a side of chicken. The salad was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. The chicken was an additional $7, but I felt the protein was necessary to make the dish more filling. I appreciated that there was an alternate protein option available, especially since the default protein option wasn't something I could eat. My friends ordered the Korean Fried Chicken sandwich and the pasta special with beef, and everyone was very happy with their meals. Portions were okay, and everything we tried was well prepared. I had heard a lot about Fête before visiting, so I was excited to finally try it. The cocktails were excellent, the service was attentive, and it made for a nice birthday dinner with friends. While I enjoyed the food, I was a little surprised by how limited the menu felt, and some of the dishes didn't stand out as much as I expected . Overall, it was a good experience, and I'm glad I finally got to try it.

I had heard a lot of good things about Fête, maybe I tried the wrong thing? I got their carbonara and the olive oil cake with the caramel on top with the rocky road icecream. The carbonara was just extremely cheesy and thick, but did not have much flavor. The only thing that gave it flavor was the pancetta. It tasted better on the second day after I microwaved it surprisingly. My friend got the local pork ragu and that was much better. The olive oil cake was interesting. The top with the caramel was very bitter and I was surprised. The cake itself was good though. We also ordered the rocky road icecream because they said it won an award (?) and that was really good. I would order the ice cream again. The service was great, kept checking on us and refilling our waters. We sat outside and it's a very small area, would recommend being on the inside.

This is restaurant you have to try at least once. After that you'll find yourself coming back for a second, third, fourth... The first time we finally made it in we enjoyed it so much that we ended up coming back again within the same week! (And that's crazy because we live all the way in Waianae!) On our first visit we got the 3 spreads that come with their bread, the steak tartare, the ciopinno, and the pork ragu. Everything was so delicious, I'd highly recommend trying the 3 spreads and the Pork Ragu! My boyfriend also grew up eating ciopinno and he said this one brought him straight back home. There was so much on the menu that caught our eye but especially the Korean fried chicken sandwich. So we came back for lunch and got that and those 3 spreads again. That's probably one of the best chicken sandwiches you'll have. The sauce is sweet and a little spicy but not messy! The chicken is so perfectly crispy. If you're thinking of getting it, do it. The restaurant is nice and cool inside and their outside seating is super cute. I've probably been back 2-3 more times since already and will be back too many more!

A delicious coconut cake. A must try it was so different and not sweet.

Delicious, my new "favorite"! Food was outstanding, staff is top notch. A recommendation for sure. We arrived at opening 11:00am, but by the time we were done and the downtown lunch crowd came, the restaurant was packed and the level of noise was intense.

Super cute place. Menu is amazing. Their Korean steak and beet salad were so delicious. Tables are small and we were a large party so not a whole lot of room. Had a reservation and they said the party before us is taking a bit longer. They still figured out seating pretty quickly after we arrived. The service was fast and our waitress was super sweet. Love that it is run by a female chef too! Got a ride here so cant speak about parking. Will be back!

Came here for my birthday a few months ago. It was lovely and definitely reminded me of some of my favorite spots in NYC. We sat at the bar and our lovely bartender was very knowledgeable about the menu and the specials. They gave us some complimentary champagne for my birthday too. We started with the quinoa cakes, which were delightful but I think the romesco had a bit of a kick we weren't prepared for. I enjoyed it but it was a bit much for my less spice tolerant friend. I ordered the squash risotto. It was luxurious, rich, and creamy. It did not taste much of squash however. The added mushrooms dominated the flavors, but I'm not complaining. I love a mushroom risotto. My friend had the French onion grilled cheese and loved the sandwich. The tomato compote again was a bit too spicy for my friend to enjoy. We wished more of the ingredients would be listed so we can make some better choices for their spice sensitive palate. I had the tea and tamarama cocktails. The tea was a bit too sweet for my taste but still enjoyable. The tamarama was definitely more compatible with my palate and I loved it. Overall, we had a great time, the service was great and I enjoyed all the food immensely. We went over the weekend and it was quite loud so that might be something to consider when deciding to go.

First time in Hawaii but we had heard about Fete all the way back in Texas! We decided to stop in for an early dinner as we tried to adjust to the new time zone and we are so glad we did! We were greeted right away and seated by our very friendly server. The restaurant is very cute and inviting and larger than it initially appears as you enter. We started with the special of the day which was a delicious salad with Greens, Beets, Crisp Shallots, and Avocado. It was light and absolutely delicious. We then had the Smoked Ono Club which was super tasty and the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich. For the Korean Chicken the taste was absolutely on point, but I would have liked just a bit less sauce so the bun could have better held together. Overall it was a delightful meal and a great start to our vacation!

Cute restaurant on the corner of Hotel and Nuuanu. Had an outside table which was great, if a bit noisy with the cars, buses and lawn blowers around. Enjoyed a relaxed lunch with good food. The service was unusually slow. The amazing dish was the crispy potatoes with house made catsup...so delicious! The beet salad was delicious as well. The special veal salad was only ok but the burger looked good.

Ate at Fete for the first time for lunch. We were seated outside under the umbrella's which was cozy and cool from the soft breeze. Service was great. Water was filled regularly and staff kept checking if everything was okay. Love it when the source of our dishes and how they were made explained. It makes you appreciate the quality of meal we were receiving and yes - it shows in the taste and flavors of the food. Would definitely come back when I return to the islands to try the other dishes on the menu.

The smoked ahi appetizer was exceptional! The beer was very good. The service, impeccable. The French onion grilled cheese? Meh. The au jus...incredibly bland. The grass fed burger was ok but the place next doors burger beats the pants right off Fete's...I would go again but just stay for a drink and an appetizer.

Honestly, they're famous for a reason! This has been one of my fave gems since 2020. Cocktails, delicious. Staff, amazing. Food, phenomenal. Their rocky road ice cream would be part of my last meal. Their regular menu have not disappointed the last 6 years but honestly if you're willing to try new things, I'd recommend hearing their specials and giving them a shot. Always creative and just fun to switch things up for your regular order.

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. The breezes up there were perfect and watching the daylight get brighter with local birds chirping and fluttering about made for a very nice wake-up! This became my go-to stop every morning of my visit! I only ordered breakfast once and kept it low-carb so I had cheesy eggs and Portuguese sausage. Perfect and hit the spot. If staying at the Laylow (Marriott product) or close by, I'd recommend this as your morning wake-up as well! Enjoy!

Drinks. That's what…read moreyou're here for isn't it? It is why you've searched for EP bar, looked over various reviews, and randomly found yourself reading thru the first few lines of this review. Well, welcome Dear Reader, and I hope what I'm about to share peaks your interest to visit EP Bar. I had my 2nd visit to EP Bar earlier this month with friends for some after dinner drinks. We did make a res, but there were some walk-ins while we there, so it's probably recommended but not necessary. We perused the menu, and our 1st round consisted of: Ringo Star Strawberry Fields Forever Pho Us By Us Hail Mary Any guesses on the drink I chose? It's related to the Beatles. If you guessed Ringo Star.....take another guess. The Strawberry Fields Forever was very refreshing. Recommended. My partner ordered the Hail Mary, which (sadly) wasn't to his liking, and he happily "helped" me finish my drink before ordering his own in the next round. I chose the Ringo Star as my next drink, and I'd say if you're a fan of Mr. Star and/or apples, this drink is right up your orchard. Recommended. SERVICE The service is friendly, mixed with a splash of polite, and served with patience and knowledge. BOTTOM LINE A great place for drinks. Casual ambiance/vibe and relaxed atmosphere. Recommended.

Fifteen minutes west of Waikiki, you'll find yourself in a completely different Hawaii…read more Honolulu's Chinatown feels worlds away from the beachfront resorts and postcard-perfect sunsets. The neighborhood is vibrant, gritty, and alive--a mix of Chinese, Southeast Asian, and Native Hawaiian influences layered over historic buildings, glowing neon signs, art galleries, and hidden cocktail dens. It reminded me a bit of New Orleans: worn facades with stories to tell, creative energy around every corner, and the sense that the best experiences are often tucked behind an unassuming door. Which makes it the perfect home for EP Bar. "EP" stands for Extend Play, a fitting name for a place built around music. Long before listening bars became fashionable in Los Angeles, New York, and London, there were the jazz kissa of Japan--small cafés where people gathered not to drink or dance, but to listen. Records spun through carefully tuned sound systems while patrons sat immersed in the music. The music wasn't background noise. It was the main event. Walking into EP Bar, you can feel traces of that tradition. The room is intimate and inviting. Reservations are highly recommended because the place fills up quickly on weekend nights. Once inside, the atmosphere hits a sweet spot. The music is loud enough to create a mood and provide privacy for conversation, yet never so overpowering that it dominates the room. Loud enough to muffle the secrets being shared between old friends. Loud enough to drown out the office gossip that somehow followed everyone from the coffee machine into happy hour. The soundtrack isn't just playing--it's setting the tone. As an Old Fashioned guy, my choice was easy. I ordered a Oaxaca OF, which swaps traditional whiskey for mezcal. Smoky, balanced, and memorable, it felt like the kind of drink that rewards slow sipping between tracks. Another member of our group went with the Pho Us By Us. To nobody's surprise except perhaps her own, it tasted a little salty. Considering the ingredients--Green Chile Vodka, Sake, Pho Spice, Lemon, and Soda--it was probably the most honest cocktail description I've ever seen. The drink tasted exactly like its name suggested. That's part of the fun here. The menu doesn't hide behind clever marketing. Drinks like Thai Me Down and Candy Rain practically dare you to order them. Not every note landed perfectly. Service was a little off-beat during our visit. But like any live performance, sometimes the rhythm isn't flawless. Thankfully, the vibes, decor, music, and overall experience more than carried the set. What I appreciated most was that EP Bar doesn't feel like a gimmick. It feels like a genuine continuation of a tradition that began decades ago in Japan's listening cafés, traveled across oceans, and found a home in Honolulu's Chinatown. It's a place where music matters, conversation flows, and the pace of the evening slows down just enough to appreciate both. The place slaps for what it is--and for what it isn't. In a world increasingly filled with distractions, EP Bar invites you to do something refreshingly simple: sit down, have a great drink, listen to great music, and be present. I'll definitely be back. After all, every good record deserves another spin, and I'm curious to see how the needle lands next time.
