This is the perfect cafe to spend an hour or so eating a good meal and reading a book or chatting with a friend. The menu is mostly Italian, and is both simple and varied - plenty of intriguing vegetarian options, along with classic dishes like ravioli and lasagna, and salads and panini. They have wifi and don't seem to mind if you take your time. I got a fennel and arugula salad with goat cheese -- if someone wants to name a salad after me, that combination should be it! -- and the tomato & garlic crostini, which was piled high with pretty much nothing but tomatoes and garlic, just like you'd expect. Both were great on their own, and I think they went even better together, since if you have goat cheese left over from the salad, like I did, you can put it on the crostini. And if you're hungry, like I was, the portions are generous -- or you can share! The service is a little, shall we say, "relaxed." My food came quickly but I waited forever for coffee, but the staff were very nice and apologized for forgetting it. I wasn't in a hurry so you'll notice I still rated them four stars, but be prepared to chase down stray items from your order if you're in that big of a rush. read more

Came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Luckily this small location was able to seat our impromptu party of 7 while other eateries were not. I ordered the French toast which came with two pieces of toast and a small side of fruit. Friends had granola or eggs. All of us were fairly satisfied. Great little place for brunch/dinner or just a cup of coffee. The servers there are super friendly and the place is cute and cozy. I came here with some girlfriends and we ended up having a 5 hour brunch and not once did the staff make us feel unwelcome. Instead they were very sweet and kept refilling my hot tea throughout the meal without me having to say anything! 10 stars for service! The food here was also excellent and the prices are great for the amount of food you get. Out of all the dishes we had, the best were the Chilean Sea Bass and the Open Face Omelet. Also I gotta say I got the English Muffin on the side and yes it was toasted perfectly just the way I like it...small thing...but it made my meal even better! Just the cutest, tiniest little Italian place. We had a reservation for 13, and while we took up half the restaurant, we didn't feel crowded or stuff into our makeshift ginormous table. Ordered a bunch of appetizers and the highlight was the ball of fresh mozzarella. Cheese is my weakness and their mozzarella was so fresh it was melty. Bread was good, olive oil was fruity and perfect. Ordered a chicken dish while most others had pasta. Giggled at the typo on the menu (cappers, as opposed to capers) and the name of what I ordered Pounded Chicken, because I'm apparently perpetually 12 years old. Dessert was a blur. Probably because my family ordered approximately a million bottles of wine for dinner. I vaguely recall chocolate mousse or the like? CASH ONLY. Which, ugh. Annoying. The portion sizes were great for the money but the food was subpar - the cacio e pepe was very soupy/watery and my parents had to keep adding seasoning/cheese to their dish. LOVED this place. met a friend in the area and wanted to go somewhere casual and wallet-friendly for dinner and drinks so we could catch up. enter: Fiat Cafe. a small cafe (of course) style, it's a good choice for small groups of 2-3. every bottle of wine is under $25. and all entrees and appetizers are under $15. we split a Bresaola & Arugala salad ($7.00). For entrees we got the Parpadelle Pasta with Shiitake, Oyster, Cremini Mushrooms with Duck Confit, Ragout ($13) and a special of the night of Merguez Sausage with Truffle Polenta and Ragout ($13). the pasta was a substantial portion and the pasta had a fresh-made feel and taste to it. The polenta was addicting and the meat added a nice hearty flavor to round out the dish. For dessert we split an order of tiramisu ($5) and a mini-bottle of prosecco ($8). overall a great meal that was easy on the wallet but still delicious with a homey feel. read more

The pancakes did not impress us but then again we think Dupars' (LA) plain pancakes are the best outside of the local diners you come across in the upper midwest. Also ordered polenta with fennel sausage in mushroom ragout which my sister loved. I only thought it was average as the flavors were too mild. The food was not hot when it came out, only warm. On top of which they had the door propped open which made our food cold within 5 minutes of its arrival. We did enjoy our latte, macchiato and coffee as well as fresh oj. Fiat has the goods. Plain and simple: it has flavorful Italian! Came here on Saturday night, seated without reservation. Small, tight seating, next to Italian girls in tights. Lovely waitresses from France and Italy served meal (Carbonara, thick and creamy) within 5 minutes. They could have extra wines. But restaurants in Italy often only have hand full of bottles. Drank Montepulciano. Tried Tiramisu (pure and perfect). This review is regarding a delivery order. The pappardelle pasta was delicious! Every bite was a little bit of joy. However my order of Kale ceasar salad had hair in it! I saved my salad for the next day... The worst part of it is that I didn't see the hair until I got to the end of my salad. F***ing Gross! I was gagging the whole day. SMH... This was my go to spot for lunch. I love their prosciutto paninis and their clam pasta. It's very affordable and the decor is really cute. I'm knocking down one star because it's cash only but other than that it's an amazing place to eat for lunch during the workweek. read more

Literally stumbled upon this place - Fiat Cafe. With open front windows, small tables & chairs, and open-kitchen/tight-seating set-up, I guess the best word to describe Fiat Cafe is CUTE. Great little cafe/restaurant that likes to keep things clean, simple and relaxed. No bells and whistles here. Solid, inexpensive food. Not a huge fan of their red wine (toscana), but they carry Moretti and Peroni so that issue's resolved. Service was pleasant and food delicious. We had the seafood salad, a garlic bruschetta, and italian tuna panini. Looking through the rest of their menu, looks like they got most of their dishes spot on! Definitely plan on going back to try some of their pasta dishes and antipasto. Sweet how they have their menu written on a chalkboard on top of their service counter for you to see, which is great. Really dig places that do this ... Tory Row in harvard sq and miracle of science in cambridge, ma. I'd recommend going here as a party low even numbers: 2, 4, 6 and maybe 8. This authentic Italian joint packs them in. Although, that may not say much considering I broke a glass and almost wiped out a table while being seated. (Seriously, I think the clearance between the tables may be 6" so leave the strollers, backpacks and shopping bags at home!) Their Mini Bottled cokes are always a charm, though - that made me feel better! All was quiet and awkward for a moment but I went on about my way. At this Cash only cafe, $7.50 buys you a large panini with a side salad. For the fresh ingredients and the flavors, you can't beat that! The sandwiches are huge. I ordered the chicken avocado, asiago, sun dried tomato spread on crispy ciabatta. It comes with a side of mixed greens, which of course I didn't touch. I'm so glad to know about this place! We came here for a quick light dinner one night in the winter. I had the clam linguini, which I liked, but did not love. The other had a pesto pasta that was sort of grainy and not as flavorful as expected. Price was cheap, and so was the taste of the food. Actually went here after a night spent wandering around San Gennaro. First off, this place so so soooooo tiny. Like, I had to keep moving my purse from my chair back to let people edge past. I doubt you'd want to bring a party of 10 in. Felt bad for the poor waitress, but I guess she was used to bobbing and weaving with pasta in hand. Good pasta! You can't really go wrong with most things on the menu--my friend was a little disappointed in her mozz salad, though, only because the portion size was so-so. If you can't read Italian and you're not used to fancy restaurants that use the actual language of the country's food you're serving, well..get used to it. The funniest part of this whole outing was the couple next to us. They had already cut up their dessert into little bites, and then insisted we try it. Spent the weekend in NYC visiting girlfriends and this was my first stop. Breakfast. It's a small space and quite crowded so we had to wait about ten mins for seating the 4 of us. Then we didn't get served for a while since there is only one waiter BUT other food was fantastic quality and the portions were perfect. Pancakes are GOOOOOOD :) The concept of the cafe is quite cute as well with lots of old pics of the fiat car. Very European/Italian vibe. Great breakfast spot. read more

Not the best service and food here. I honestly would not come here again. As a matter of fact, my family and I came here for brunch because the wait for Cafe Gitane near by was over 45 minutes. That's why we decided to just randomly pick another brunch place. The fact that there was no wait for this place should've set the alarm off but I guess we were too hungry. This place is small and cramped. No matter which table you're seated at, you will feel like you're elbowing the stranger next to you or the stranger behind you is on top of you or will be in a minute or two. The tables don't look too clean and let's get to the utensils and water cups. They were so dirty, I had to give one of the cups back to them and ask for another one. I was scared to drink from the cups. Another group came a few minutes after us and was seated behind our table. They were served iced water and bread with olive oil immediately. However, for you, who came before them, got nothing. The water came after that. But we were really hungry and kept wondering if we were going to get some bread to munch on while waiting for our orders (we ordered already and still no bread). We kept looking around and I guess we made eye contact with one of the waiters and that's when maybe they for the hint. The bread came but it was some hard and stale bread. We ordered the salmon eggs Benedict, Pappardelle pasta, and a Linguini fini pasta. We only ordered three things for four people because we plan to eat something else after this (obvious that it wasn't going to satisfy us). The salmon eggs Benedict was $9.50, rather cheap, so I knew I wasn't going to get the best thing out there. It was rather small with salad and no fries! I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for that, and would've made the dish look nicer/presentable. However, the Pappardelle pasta was extremely flavorful and just a tadbit salty in my opinion. I really liked it though, it had shitake and oyster Cremini mushrooms, and duck with truffle oil. Truffle oil can make anything taste good and it went really well with everything. The linguini fini pasta was alright, quite a lot of clams and seafood in there. The pasta was a bit hard for me personally. But it had a good taste because of the garlic (big bits on the bottom). Although it took them forever after I asked about the Yelp check in for a free dessert, they did end up honoring the check in and we were given the Coffee Pannacotta (yep you don't get to choose a dessert). It was alright, I would pass if I had to pay $5 for that (price on menu). Three stars because at least I liked their Pappardelle pasta and linguini fini pasta. read more

I grabbed a chicken/avocado panini from this place and it was very tasty. The cafe itself is pretty small but they keep it open when it's warm out so you don't feel cramped. It was cash only and the food did take a few minutes to come out but it's definitely worth a try. Also, when I went there one of the little Fiat scooters that are up on the wall fell onto our table and almost hit one of my friends. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience. read more

My comments are as follows: 1) They deliver in a timely fashion and the delivery guy is so nice! 2) I ordered the Prosciutto, Mozzarella & Arugula Panini each time, and it is absolutely to die for. Okay, you're not going to find a new york cafe that's not cramped. But in Fiat, it seemed like it was an eternal shuffle just to be able to sit down- tables were constantly moved aside to let another patron shuffle their booty through. Still, somehow it works. Even though I was a foot away from other groups, I was able to keep a steady conversation with my partner in crime, and didn't feel on display nor intruding. The interior is cute, the service is fast, and the menu is comforting. The menu is numbered, so it makes it easier to order quickly and without confusion, and soon fresh delicious italian food is flowing out of the kitchen. I also loved the simple twist on the old hat of free bread- it was served with strawberry jam, which is just what I didn't know I needed for a small complement to the meal. We split a grilled chicken sandwich and a salad between us- the salad was large, and I grew tired of the dressing, with only some chicken, onions, and walnuts to interrupt the taste, but the sandwich was delicious. Grilled chicken, avocado, tomato, and vinaigrette dressing- YUM. I'll return next time I'm in the city for sure. read more

The decor is super charming and the man who seemed to run the place, Stephan, was quite welcoming, which at times is a true rarity in Manhattan. They have just about everything you could want, for every type of mood you're in. Radicchio and Apple salad which is just perfect and totally refreshing if you're in the mood for something a bit light or the Chicken with Olives which tasted like something hearty and delicious that your grandmother would have made for you. Also you have to try the chocolate mousse. I am NOT a dessert person (too sweet or me) but my friends and I split one and it was done perfectly, super refreshing! The wine was decent and the bread was good, it's not amazing but if you're in the mood for a more low-key evening where you can just relax and be with two of your closest friends this is a wonderful place. I've not been here for brunch but the menu looks great, I will definitely be back to try it. Nothing seemed very good so we yelped and found Fiat, its extremely tiny, but the food is definitely worth it and very affordable. Quaint, adorable, and pretty much blew away everyone I've taken here. Ingredients are always fresh, and take out is speedy. I will say that some things on the menu seem to be portioned on the smaller side considering their price (the caprese salad and ricotta ravioli are among these offenders) but overall everything is homey and delicious with no frills. Service can sometimes be a bit inattentive (on some days the busser will keep your bread basket fully stocked and on others they forget to serve bread altogether) and slow (I went alone on a Monday afternoon and I think the waitress forgot I was there entirely) so take that into consideration if you're just looking to pop in somewhere for a quick meal. The con was that I had to ask for balsamic vinegar. It should have been served with it. Tuna and egg salad was ok. The salad was fine but the tuna was something out of a can. I did not enjoy that so much. Eggs were good. Entrees: Spaghetti and meatballs. This was a solid dish. Nice portion for the price. The only downside was that the meatballs were somewhat bland. Gnocchi with heavy cream and bacon. Very good but very rich. Also the portion was a little small. But taste wise was a okay. Fish stew. Very flavorful. It did not have a lot of fish and was mostly sauce. But excellent for dipping your bread with. I must say the sauce was excellent; probably the highlight of dinner. If they had more seafood with the dish, it would have stole the show. Ravioli was a very good dish too. Nothing special but not terrible. Linguini with clams and bacon. I went to this cafe on recommendation from my friends. The cafe is tiny, if you have a group of more than 4, consider somewhere else. They serve a myriad of Italian food - you know, spaghetti, penne - your basic Italian pasta. I have no real recollection of how the food was because it wasn't entirely life changing pasta. Fabulous new addition to the cheap yet yummy restaurants in the city! When a friend suggested it for dinner on a Monday night I glanced at the menu and didn't think too much about it - it just looked like a cheap, easy place for a weekday dinner. I arrived slightly earlier and picked one of the two tables outside. It was a beautiful night and what better place to sit outside and people watch than soho! The decor is very unassuming and looks like a simple cafe. I got a glass of cabernet sauvignon for 6$ (yes 6 bucks!!) and perused the menu. It's cash only but everything seemed to range from 7-13$ - super affordable! I ended up choosing the Papardelle dish as I have failed to have a bad papardelle dish from an Italian Restaurant. Being that I'm generally not a big fan of Italian I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this dish. I also wasn't sure how I was going to enjoy the duck confit + assortment of mushrooms + heavy sauce would do in large portions but surprisingly everything balanced out (in addition to a hefty amount of parmesean cheese of course). I'm usually one to eat small portions (half now, half in a couple hours... killer metabolism) but I actually ended up finishing the entire bowl. I wasn't going to get dessert but after reading some Foursquare tips and craving something sweet I decided to order the tiramisu and I was not disappointed. It was the perfect balance of creaminess, coffee, and sweetness It's nothing groundbreaking and I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but my stomach was very happy leaving and I will definitely be back here whenever a friend or I am craving italian - cheap, easy, and delicious! read more

Cute little Italian cafe. My bowl of pasta was good. I had the fresh cavatelli with broccoli rabe and hard ricotta with the sausage added on. The hard ricotta was a nice touch, though fairly salty. The sausage was tasty and complimented the pasta well but for costing an extra $3 there wasn't all that much of it. The rabe was great! If you're a fan of slightly bitter greens, that is. Excellent service too. 4 out of 5 stars.... except... the bread. The free bread served at the start was most definitely stale. I'd say at least 3 days old. It was obvious they re-heated it in hopes of making it last. But I bake a lot of bread. You can't hide it when it's old. On bread alone, Fiat gets 1 star. The food definitely was not worth what I had paid. I had a spaghetti carbonara and it tasted very greasy and plain even though there was supposed to be a bit of butter and cheese in there somewhere. The little specks of meat that they put on top of it tasted very oily and meaty which didn't go with the actual food. Randomly found this lovely little cafe looking for a Saturday brunch with friends. It has become one of my new Soho favorites! The vegetable panini is delish and they have a wonderful iced coffee!
