Really tasty margherita pizza and efficient servers. Nice remodel when they took over from Sunset Resevoir

I made a reservation for two people on a Wednesday night and we got seated right away. I think mid-week a reservation is not necessary though, could probably just walk in. They have happy hour on M-F from 3:30-5:30pm that we just missed but would like to try some other time. We ordered a bunch of items to share: - persian cucumbers - super crunchy, the flavor was good but felt like it could've been soaked longer so the flavor seeps more into the cucmber - roasted cauliflower - the sauce was delicious, the flavor was very unique, slightly on the sweeter side - sausage pizza (added mushrooms) - the mushrooms were a game changer, made the pizza taste even better - orchhiette pasta - favorite dish of the night, the pasta was al dente and the sauce they used was so flavorful with every bite, and the sausage in this was so good - not too salty or anything Service was also fantastic, they kept coming over and asking us if we're doing okay throughout our whole dinner. The vibes are nice too, they have a bar area and TV screens playing sports games.

I think this used to be Sunset Brewing Company, and I like what they've done with the space. It remains very airy and spacious, as well as surprisingly bright for being in the foggy sunset. We came for lunch and got the roasted cauliflower with romesco sauce, almond slivers, and raisins. It was really nice: the romesco sauce was flavorful and the cauliflower was perfectly roasted. We also got the sausage pizza: the crust was deliciously crispy, and I enjoyed the arugula that went with the sausage. My friend got 2 half pint beers: they were really well priced and I liked that we could try a few different beers.

I wish I liked this place more as I been wanting to try for a while. We ordered drinks, pepperoni mushroom pizza, flat iron steak, and calamari. Starting with the calamari, it was nicely breaded and cooked well, though the pieces weren't very meaty. It would have benefited from more seasoning to bring out flavor, especially at the $18 price point. The flat iron steak was ordered medium rare but some pieces looked like it came out closer to medium. It was still enjoyable overall, just not quite at the doneness we expected. The chimichurri leaned more oily than herb-forward, and while the sides were fine, they could have used a bit more flavor. The potatoes had a sweetness which I was not a fan of and confused about. For the pizza, I was expecting a thicker, doughier crust based on what I saw at other tables, but the pepperoni mushroom pizza we received was more of a thin, flatbread-style base. The edges were quite crisp, and it ended up not being what I had in mind. It also took the longest to come out. It honestly reminded me of school lunch pizza which for $21 really disappointing. The dough also lacked flavor and texture threw me off. Definitely least favorite item. I wish they put on the menu that base would be different than the other pizzas. The drinks we got were alright nothing that stood out. The beer that my husband ordered was supposed to have like flavors of papaya and guava, while it smelled like guava it really just tasted like a beer no fruity essence present. My drink was the San Francisco punch and just kinda tasted like pineapple alcohol. Their drinks menu wasn't bad, but just nothing really caught my eye as someone who prefers sweeter drinks.

Nice restaurant at San Francisco sunset area. We came during late lunch time for brunch after we made reservation before. The restaurant was not full when we arrived. It was a nice restaurant with nicely decorated and full bar service. We ordered couple dishes: corn fritter , pork riblet, flat bread, harvest pork harsh , and scrambled egg. All are yummy. The flat bread is unique as the pork riblets. Corn is good too. The service was good and I was satisfied with the dishes. I like the seating and the vibe and the interior.

My daughter and my Dad accompanied me to Fifty Vara for a mid day lunch. It's rare to see my Dad as often as I'd like so we were hoping for an outstanding experience. Unfortunately, it fell flat. The beer was good, and my daughter's cocktail was also good. The food was bland. The buffalo wings were the spiciest I've ever tried and weren't enjoyable for me, however, my Dad didn't mind the sauce. We ordered a small appetizer that we sent back because the crème sauce had no sodium, and their homemade chips were extremely oily. My Dad had a burger that was just "OK". I expected more from this restaurant because of the reviews and the place itself was slow. If I go back, it will be solely for drinks.

I went here with family for lunch. We had a reservation and were seated quickly, the restaurant wasn't too busy on a Saturday morning. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and welcoming. I liked the aesthetic of the restaurant which was filled with greenery and had an industrial vibe. We ordered the crispy calamari, the sunrise sando, the vara burger, and the little gem caesar. The food was good, but nothing memorable. Overall, it was nice experience, but I wouldn't be rushing back.

Stopped by for brunch/lunch here for the first time and the biggest highlight was the space itself. Super aesthetic, lots of plants, and overall a really good-looking restaurant. Definitely a cute spot if you're into vibes and photos. Food was fine. Nothing bad, but nothing particularly memorable either. We ordered a breakfast sandwich with potatoes, a burger with fries, Caesar salad, and calamari, and the total came out to about $88. Portion sizes were good! The burger was ordered medium but came out closer to medium well, which was a little disappointing but fine overall, wasn't worth making a fuss about. We also asked if the burger could be cut and were told no, which is again, fine, but a little disappointing. Everything else was decent, just didn't really stand out in a city with so many restaurant options. Service was fine, nothing over the top. Overall, nice atmosphere but the food didn't quite live up to the hype. Might be worth stopping by once for the ambiance, but probably not a spot I'd rush back to for the food alone.

Good service, good food! Came with my family on a Sunday afternoon for brunch and was seated right away. They were quick to accommodate little toddler and was so friendly. Loved the food and drinks, will be back to try more!

This restaurant would be good for large parties and serves good standard American food. The burger was quite good and so was their vara brew lager. The mushroom flatbread had quite a bit of caramelized onions that took over the flavor, and was too sweet for our taste. I wouldn't say I'd go out of my way to dine here, but there's plenty of parking in the area and would be good to host a group of friends

Nice to find a place on this on Noriega. Well thought out reimagined garage is now pretty hip spot. It was a bit brisk in there in the evening though. Menu had a nice variety of selections We had a pork chop, flat bread, pasta and a ceasar salad on the table. All were pretty good Service was good

This place has so much potential, but it unfortunately missed the mark a bit. The ambiance is great, and there aren't many spots like it nearby. However, the prices are a bit too high for the amount of food you get. The flavors are solid, it's really the portion sizes that fall short for the price. Service wasn't bad, but it could have been better; at this price point, you expect top-tier attention. The calamari was also slightly underdone and not as crispy as it should be. The wings were spicier than expected, but still enjoyable.

A friend and I were looking for a place to grab a drink and to catch-up on what had been a challenging week when we ended up at Fifty Vara. The plan to get a quick drink quickly turned into full blown meal that could have easily fed four! Since it was around 7:30 on a weeknight, the place was fairly empty. I didn't realize the restaurant is so spacious. The space looks like a perfect spot to host a private event. Our server was attentive and checked on us regularly throughout our meal. He was kind enough to let us know when the kitchen was closing and asked if we wanted to order anything else. The restaurant closed at 9 p.m. but even after that, he came and asked if we wanted another drink from the bar. The overall experience was a great one. The food was average. We had crispy calamari - 5/10 - the batter fell off the meat and was a bit heavy herb and garlic fries - 8/10 buffalo wings - 6/10 - the buffalo sauce wasn't tossed with the wings blistered tomato flat bread - 6/10 little gem caesar salad - 6/10 The warm and friendly service, ambiance and drinks were all above average and definitely worth a return visit.

I wanted to sit on the bar for the best service, but no seats were available. Got some HH Lemon Pepper Wings - My daughter and I wanted to order more food, but we knew we had to go home for dinner, lol. But then we got to Pliny to wash it all down. $7 for Pliny is a good price; I paid $6 at Whole Paycheck, I mean Whole Foods. All the other foods ordered around us looked good also. Next time we will come back for a full meal. Ambiance - Indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor bar, counter tables, booths seating, etc. 2 floors and with billiards upstairs. Crazy busy for the FIFA games. But we were still able to get a table in a corner (perfect for me) and still able to watch the game from multiple screens. Open 7 days a week. Service - Your QR code system does NOT work!! Your digital system does NOT work. Both times when we ordered, no drinks came?!?! After 10+ minutes, we had to flag down the bartender to inquire about our order. It was obvious that either he missed it or never got the ticket. And had to flag down a waitress for my second beer. But no problem closing the tab and paying and tipping via QR code, lol. Price - $7 each item for HH. $24 + tip. Including a SF 4% "mandate." Decent if not good prices for SF. They have two floors, bar seating, plus outdoor seating. Being a bigger group, we chose to go upstairs. When it's not busy, it's quite spacious -- pool table, games, and a good amount of seating. You can order at the bar or use the self-service QR code. The staff helping us were all kind and courteous! Everyone got a variety of food to share and drinks to consume. Nachos, French Fries, Tater Tots, and Wings were among the items ordered. The Tater Tots were my personal fave. I love a new crispy outside, and the tots and fries were just that!
