Out of all the restaurants of it's kind in this area I would eat here. As far as noodles go, it's about the same price as Noodles & Co. across the way, but tastes much better. This location surprised me with how amazing their service and Fried Tofu Pad Thai was. I deeply craved Pad Thai last night, but had no clue or want to order any from around my area. So I took a drive with my pup down Jollyville Rd. I look over and decide to go ahead and see if Firebowl has a Pad Thai dish. I pull in. Sure enough, they did! I ordered my dish with extra crushed peanuts and EXTRA spicy. The order was taken with a smile and kindness. Waited no more than 5-7 minutes. Couldn't wait until I drove the 3 minutes home..had to try right then. WHA?!!! absolutely awesome Pad Thai. Reminded me of my favorite Pad Thai off Sunset Blvd in LA. Hot, juicy, fresh, REALLY spicy like I asked and TWO sides of crushed peanuts given:) you got me Great Hills FireBowl! I am going back tonight to get the exact same order. This is a staple in eating out...line is always full because it is so darn tasty and pretty fast too. I Mix and match brown rice and veggies so the healthy eating does compliment working out! I have been here on many times it is always good. It is not the best chinese food you will ever eat but it is good and quick. My husband and I do a lot of customizing of our orders and they are ALWAYS right. Staff is always friendly and very efficient even when they are swamped. It can be a little too crazy at lunch but they manage to still get the food out quickly and correctly. My only complaint is the sweet and sour chicken. The sauce is on the side which is sort of strange. I can understand some people might like being able to control the amount of sauce but I like it cooked in the sauce so it soaks up all of that yummy goodness!! Big portions, good prices, nice staff, lots of choices and variety. Good for take-out or for dining in house. The atmosphere is appropriate for just about anything - a work lunch, a family dinner, a date. They have a patio for nice weather days. My BF loves the pineapple fried rice - spicy but not overwhelming. I tend to get either the pad thai or the build-your-own stir fry. My mom likes it because you can create a healthy dish with lots of veggies and tofu. She also claims they have some of the best iced tea. read more

The food was good especially the crab rangoons but the service was HORRIBLE!! My first time there & it was a simple order then pick up. The lady that took our order was extremely rude & I'm pretty sure the same lady checked us out when we arrived as she seemed annoyed about the split order and was not welcoming at all! Was not dressed like a server so I hope it wasn't the owner because I would definitely expect more customer service from them. I have to admit, I kind of love Firebowl Cafe.. I started out always getting the sweet and sour chicken which always impressed me with the really good breast meat and fresh pineapple they used, then eventually tried the general tso's chicken which became another favorite because it comes with broccoli and is a very spicy/hot dish. Finally I decided I needed to try the stir fry your own way and thats where I fell in love. I always get the spring veggie mix (the veggies are always really fresh). I've only tried it with either fried tofu or chicken, but I think just by the quality of everything else I've had here you probably can't go wrong with any of the main ingredient choices. Then there is the sauce choice... Oh I love the heat, so I always go with the Kung Pao, Bangkok Red Curry, or Thai Pepper but once again, no way to go wrong. You can get this stir fry your way with either white, brown or fried rice, or if you like noodles they have 6 different kinds, so basically I could probably eat here about 4 times a week and still not get tired of it. So my main suggestion, try the stir fry your way.. ;) read more

I LOVE eating at this Fire Bowl! I've had several of their dishes and the food quality and temperature is consistently fantastic! I have seen the same Chef and crew behind the line for years here. I usually order the General Tso's without breaded chicken, and they prepare it exactly as I request and they've never missed (and I eat here FAR too often.) LOL. Oh, and by the way, I wanted to say that Jose' is one of the BEST and MOST attentive restaurant employees I've ever had the experience of doing business with...as is ALL of the staff I've encountered at FB Arboretum. Jose' always speaks to me when he sees me, and has remembered my name for a couple of years. Makes a patron feel good to be treated like they matter. Thanks FB friends!!! Right behind the Arbor theater, this quick fix Asian style restaurant is a great place to get some spicy food. I think Firebowl is a chain, but there is only one in Austin, so I love that it so close to where I live. They have a great selection and although their curries are not really traditional, they are hot and delicious. I have tried a bunch of different dishes here but I usually end of getting the Vermicelli Singapore, with yellow curry, shrimp and chicken. On those nights that when I just need to get something hot to eat, I will come here. read more

It should be very easy since they have a limited set of dishes and sauces, which gives us myriad combinations. So just let us add them up! Without nutritional data, I can only give them three stars. This is not the best Asian fusion food in Austin you can get. However, the service used to be friendly and quick, so it is a good for the price. Not anymore. The new staff there are rude. They only had one register open at peak time when there were more than 20 customers waiting in line. Requests for simple assistance were ignored. I ordered the vermicelli... gross stuff. Too much lettuce and terrible sauce. I immediately didn't like what I saw and couldn't eat the rest after the first bite. I ended up spitting the bite I took into a napkin and not eating any thing. Not allowing that junk to go into my stomach was a great idea cause whatever my husband had made him feel sick. He's now resting on the couch complaining how he has buyer's remorse after paying way too much for the gross food here. Don't get me wrong, firebowl is excellent most days and I eat there often, but the last two times have been really bad. It's just a little annoying when you have less than $20 a week for lunch and you spend seven bucks on six crab Rangoon's and you get six over cooked wonton wrappers with literally no filling inside. They were crap and if I had known I would have gone somewhere else. For seven bucks I could eat practically anywhere and when you decide to go to fire bowl and you get home to eat and see the crap they gave you, it's really frustrating. Food is great but customer service is absolutely horrible. Two groups of employees having a conversation as I approach. Continue the conversation for about three minutes and then they all start talking to each other as I'm still standing there waiting. Another lady walks up to another line and within a couple minutes they turn around and proceed to help her before they help me. The one lady who was on my side was in the waiting before proceeding to talk to other employees finally turned around after about five minutes and says oh can I help you as if she did not see me initially. Separate was after I conclude my order with her she had the nerve to go empty out her tip jar hopefully she didn't think she was supposed to get something for the service that I just received absolutely pathetic! Customer service is everything to me I don't care how good the food you would never get more than one star if you don't treat me right! read more

I have never had a bad experience here. The restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the food tastes great. It has never been greasy unlike other chinese places I usually have issues with. I love the crap ragoons and pad thai. Ok, first time here and for this trip, giving it a 3 star because the meal was free ( scored myself some fire bucks ). I myself am not a fan of these so called Asian - American themed restaurants. They never seem to get the taste right ( at least not what I'm used to growing up in Hawaii and having a China town district ). Anyways, it seems very popular with the white community. Ha, ha ( had a line ). Anyways, my wife herself is particular to just one dish, which is the beef chow fun ( we have had limited success finding a place here in Texas that actually uses the correct chow fun type of noodles ). When her meal came out, she let me try a taste before she finished it off ( topping it off with Tabasco, which she always carries ). I did like the taste of the noodles and vegetables- which really out ratioed the meat. When I got to the meat, I was pleasantly surprised that it had taste. My wife on the other hand didn't really care for the taste or the proportion size ( looking around at other diners and their meal, their servings almost overflowed the bowl ). All in all, we would not come back here, if not for the fact that I still have some of their fire bucks ( which has no expiration date and has no limit to the amount used - you just won't get cash back ) read more
