I was doing work in Alaska with a bunch of guys and we came here to Firebrand BBQ for lunch while enjoying a fun day in Seward. I love how chill this place is. You can smell the BBQ as you walk up. The seating is picnic tables in an outdoor setting. It makes you feel like you are eating a BBQ meal in someone's backyard. You just walk up to the order counter and pick up your food when it is ready and grab a seat. A couple from Texas started Firebrand BBQ when they moved to Seward. It was nice to find some Texas-style BBQ in this little town. The menu has a number of smoke meats like brisket, pulled pork, sausage, turkey and pork belly. Sides are the usual sides that go with BBQ like potato salad and cole slaw. I got the Sandwich Combo with Brisket and Cole Slaw for lunch. I loved my meal and enjoyed my time here with my buddies. Firebrand BBQ has some specialty items like Frito Pie and Loaded BBQ Potato on thier menu. They also serve breakfast before 11am. You can pick up a bottle of their BBQ sauce at the order counter.

Loaded plates filled with a good variety of sides and your choice of meat. We loved the creamy potato salad and the vinegary coleslaw. The beans were bland. Our meat of choice was the brisket, which came shredded. Parts were hard and dry and we doused it with their BBQ sauce which is very watery. Tried a bit of my SIL's pork belly which was hard and dry too. We weren't asked if we wanted onions, jalapeños and pickles, and I didn't realize it until we were almost done. They might have balanced out the meat. Oh well. Wanted to order the crab legs, but they just ran out. Cashier said we could check back later since they were de-thawing more. Outdoor seating only.

Legit BBQ but the best part was the smoked Alaskan king crab. Not only the best value for a cluster these are smoked. No butter required! Pork belly sandwich was excellent. Healthy thick slices perfectly smoked and not fatty! Just enough to be belly!

We LOVED this spot! We stopped by on a trip down the coast and all got bbq plates since all the sides sounded good. A lot of food you can't help but finish. Brisket was amazing, coleslaw was on the herby/vinegar side while still being mild, toast warm and buttered, and good potato salad. I added a blueberry Hefeweizen which was delicious. Lovely outdoor seating ambiance at wooden picnic tables. If we weren't so full from dinner the night before, we would have come back to try their breakfast burritos! Friendly sweet staff as well.

One meat plate. I was done at this point and didn't want to eat anymore.

Over all the food was so so.. I got a Pork Rib plate. 4 ribs were served. Two of the Ribs were refrigerator cold at the bone (100% unacceptable) The beans quite literally had no flavor and tasted dry. I'm not sure how as there was juice there... But! The potato salad should have a total make over. The cold slaw was dry, no moisture to it at all. Their BBQ sauce is so runny nothing sticks to the meat, it was like I put nothing on it. This is also the only BBQ sauce that tastes like a very watered down "Buffalo wing sauce." I gave up on my last rib and didn't eat it. The owner was friendly and greets people right away as they walk in. Very friendly. The worst part of all... As an outdoor seating area, then the wind swirled around and would carry the odors from the dumpster in back to the tables . I over heard another couple say they had to leave due to that smell. The smell wasn't more than 10 seconds at a time... But still I guess something that will happen with an outside seating resturant and a nearby dumpster.

Great service, friendly staff and good food. A bit pricey but the brisket, chicken, beans and coleslaw hit the spot and left full.

Best breakfast burritos in Seward. I've had the brisket, german sausage and chicken sandwiches as well. Can't go wrong getting food here!

A fast and yummy spot. If you are looking for some good and relatively cheap eats, check this place out.

The kicker was their spicy rowdy relish, though! It was packed with flavor and very fragrant! There was very inviting seating available inside and outside, and even games to play and sit and linger a bit--and the staff was super kind and knowledgable and made it very easy to feel like you could do just that! Music was lovely and the art on the walls was beautiful to take in, as well! It was such a delight to find such a charming breakfast spot while in Seward, and we know exactly where to go when we go back!!!

At 9:55, after watching people who ordered after us get served, I asked again. I was told there were still five orders ahead of us and that they had simply forgotten ours. They offered a refund and said it had been processed. I took three cold sandwiches instead and left. The refund never arrived. I called; they said it hadn't gone through but would. It still didn't. I eventually had to dispute the charge with my bank, and even then only received a partial refund: $32.10 back on a $65.86 order, with the drinks alone costing about $15 per their own menu. My bank asked for a receipt, which I didn't have, I don't recall being offered one. The hot chocolate was good. The sandwiches were average, and cold. Two pieces of advice if you go: keep your receipt, and check on your order regularly. Looking at other reviews, being forgotten seems to be a recurring problem here. Update: I finally obtained an itemized breakdown after filing a BBB complaint. It confirms what I suspected: the sausage frittata -- an item I ordered, paid for, and never received -- was not refunded at all. So they kept payment for food that never left their kitchen.

Everything is setup well and is situated in a great location! Unfortunately, service was awful! We ordered quickly and paid our tab up front ($60 for two chicken sandwiches and a basket of fries - including voluntary 18% tip, but not full-service dining). They gave us a pager and we found seats. Over the next 30 minutes we saw everyone getting food but us. I finally asked the status (politely) and got a seemingly annoyed response. I was told our order was next in line. I waited another 10 minutes and saw 3 more people served (who ordered way after us). I returned to check again and got a deep sigh and rolling eyes (mind you, it's been over 40 minutes at this point). They checked with their cook and he hadn't even started it. We were headed to airport and needed to get going, so when I pressed for an ETA he grumbled it'd be 5 minutes at most. It took 11 more minutes, which put our total wait at 51 minutes from time of order. We were never offered a discount, refund, or even an apology - VERY disappointing!!! The food was okay - but not worth that wait or frustration. We definitely won't be returning.

Further there are a couple of easy, scenic walks on the property. A 1 mile fairly flat nature trail through a wooded area and a 1-2 mile walk to and along the river, also fairly flat (albeit there is a hill with a phone at the bottom, Princess will send a shuttle to retrieve you). We used it as a base for walking the Russian River and Russian Lakes trail (to the first lake), both highly recommended. With more time we would have headed to Juneau Falls...there are a ton of hikes in the area, all which sound tremendous. Could also be used as a base for Seward and exploring the Exit Glacier/Harding Icefield hikes. Have fun! Oh. The rooms. Kinda rustic but clean and spacious, a wood burning stove and TV (used neither), balcony, and very importantly a laundry. Which we made good use of. Check in. We arrived at ~1:30 and lying in wait was a sugary sweet desk clerk who *very* sweetly and in no uncertain terms told us that check in was 3PM. The only thing missing was a "Bless your Heart". No wi-fi in the rooms, it is available in the lodge where there is a balcony tailor made for sipping wine and enjoying the river views.
