Had firehouse subs for the first time ever and absolutely loved it! We had a small meatball sub and a medium Hero sub both of which were delicious. Make sure to ask for the spicy barbecue sauce - it is not too spicy but definitely adds flavor to the sub. Overall would highly recommend firehouse subs and I'll definitely be back! read more

What a find, and a welcome addition to the area! Refreshing and delicious alternative to the tired old Subway (or other chain) sandwiches. Super friendly staff, and the owner is totally dedicated to customer satisfaction. The food is fresh and delicious and obviously they use quality ingredients. The only drawback is parking in this already busy & crowded shopping center, but these sandwiches are worth it. Kudos to this business & its staff, hope they're around a very long time. read more

Reason for one star? Staff mostly. Took forever to place my order because the guy taking orders kept saying "I'll be right back" and walked away. After I placed my order I sat about 20 minutes waiting for my sub and Mac and cheese. There were two orders ahead of mine. I could see one guy busting his butt to make sandwiches while 4-5 others just watched. Finally one person came over and started helping. And the Mac and cheese cup wasn't full. There was and inch gap between the mac & cheese and the top of container. It was a small container and 1" is about 1/4 of the whole cup. The sandwich itself was ok, but nothing special. Spent $20 on a large roast beef sub, a side of mac&cheese, and a bag of chips. Too expensive for what I got. Wish I'd have gone across the parking lot to Panera. read more

Came over from Santa Cruz today with my wife to get a sandwich and some chilli. The place was busy and I found a clean table by the door and next to the bathrooms. There were a few tables open but they were dirty and had not been cleared yet. There seamed to be about six employees behind the counter having fun. My wife placed our order and I grabbed the table. Our order was soon delivered, two sandwiches, a bowl of chilli, chips, drinks, and a salad. My sandwich was covered in their 'secret sauce' to the point that it was dripping off all sides. My wife's was the same. When I asked the waitress if she could take off all the goo that was slopped on my sandwich she just offered me a napkin. My wife and I then sent both sandwiches back for them to try again. She started eating her chilli and burnt her tongue on the first bite. I looked at my salad and found rotten lettuce throughout. We called the manager over and showed her the mess we were served. Her response was that we order our sandwiches with less sauce. Really?! How the hell am I suppose to know how much sauce they throw on it until I receive it! Lame! I will not be back and will make it a point to tell everyone I know to avoid this place. This is a very friendly/welcoming environment and staff! Very clean. Amazing food. Great and fast service. I wish I could recommend a sandwich, but they are all awesome. Had the steamer sandwich which was quite tasty, staff very nice and atmosphere is what you would expect in a sandwich shop. What I didn't expect was the high price - $15 for a combo deal. Food is delicious... prices are reasonable... but the service was extremely awful. It's a sandwich shop so by service I mean "length of time" it takes to make a sandwich.. The few times I have been there, the number of staff (5) seems plenty for the number of customers (10) and yet it took 20 - 25 minutes to get a sandwich. IT IS A SANDWICH.... I've been here 3 times and every single time they manage to get my order wrong. I am extremely sensitive to dairy and they can't seem to understand what "no cheese" means. Although the management is polite the workers are incompetent and don't care that they have a job to do. I'm not going there again. Fantastic! Firehouse Subs was first introduced to me by a friend who was familiar with the restaurant from her days in Alabama. Today was my third visit to Firehouse - Almaden Ranch. Had tried other sandwiches on my first two visits which were both delicious. But this time I went with the Smokehouse Beef &Cheddar Brisket...and it was OUTSTANDING! Probably the best sandwich I have ever had (and I have tasted many sandwiches). For the BBQ fan who loves brisket, this sandwich is a must. The meat was smoked perfectly and the bread is very fresh. So tasty. I ate a large sandwich (which was probably a bit aggressive) but walked out of there satisfied. I recommend it highly. Additionally, each time I've been to Firehouse Subs I have had excellent customer service...very friendly staff, minimal wait for the food, clean restaurant. And the TV screens are a nice added bonus. And if that isn't enough, there is a charitable component to the restaurant that goes to support first responders. I'm not positive how it works but I know that you can donate if you so choose. There are many great food options at Almaden Ranch, but I highly recommend Firehouse Subs. Worst experience ever! We got here about 15 min before closing. Ordered our food and there were only 2 people ahead of us and we ended waiting about 20 min to get our 2 sandwiches. Seemed long but we were just happy to get our food. I ordered a club but was surprised to open my sandwich and it was only turkey and lettuce. I went back to let them know they gave me the wrong sandwich and knocked on the door for a couple minutes. The employees looked at me but didn't say a word. I paid $5.50 for the wrong freaking sandwich. I knew I should have just walked out when I noticed the employees looked pissed and that they didn't want to be there but I wanted to give it a shot. All they did while we were in there was complain about their job and each other. Worst service and food I have ever tasted. Definitely never going back again. read more

I had an awesome experience today at the newly opened Firehouse Subs! Customer Service was above and beyond they went through the whole menu for me in detail and the positive attitude was excellent. The Sandwiches were very good, best around the area. I tried the Brisket and my friend had the Club on a Sub. The Brisket was very good and The hot sauces they have added a great kick. I got the medium Engineer on wheat. I paid to add avocado but there was none on my sandwich. By the time I got it to my desk, a half mile away, half of the bottom bread of the sandwich was too soggy to eat. It was gross. The sandwich was also quite bland; no flavor in the sauteed mushrooms, and about 2 tiny strips of onion. 2 stars because the cheese was melty and the guy who took my order was nice. read more

Took my family to Fire House for the first time and what a great experience! The customer service was too notch, the place was very clean and organized. All of us ordered different subs and the all were so delicious you could taste the quality of the meats! Our little guy even got a cute little fireman's hat! The food is great here! And I do see an improvement with the wait time. I was introduced to Firehouse Subs last year in Dallas,Texas. I was so excited to hear a shop was opening in San Jose. Unfortunately, since this location opened, my experiences have been disappointing. The sandwiches are GREAT. My issue is the staff and how this place is managed. On a couple of occasions, I've ordered my sandwich online, expecting to have my sandwich ready when I arrived. On both occasions, my sandwich wasn't made and I had to wait 10+ minutes for it to be ready. The whole point of ordering online is to prevent the wait! I also tried going in and ordering at the counter. The shop isn't that busy, and yet, I've had to stand and wait 15+ minutes! Unacceptable! Lastly, I just found out that Firehouse Subs no longer carries Mama's Chicken Salad due to low sales. This is affected all Firehouse Subs nationwide as of last week. I took off one star for that reason as it was my favorite sandwich. I hope enough people complain to headquarters to have that reversed. read more

I went here for the first time today and had the meatball sub. It was delicious! The bread was fresh which is a big plus for me. I'm pretty sure they bake their own bread as it was that fresh! It had a flavorful sauce and good tasting meatball. They also have one of those Coke machines where you can select from over 100 flavors which is cool. The thing I liked about this business the most is that you can donate to the first responders charity by rounding up your total or by donating money by buying a pickle bucket or just flat out giving money. I think this is awesome that they do this. Also, their policy is if you don't like the sandwich you can get a refund so, they back up the quality of their food which is unheard of at a sandwich shop. Amazing food, customer service and atmosphere. Not just a sandwich shop but a fun place to get great subs or salads while supporting a business that gives back to our community and to the great public servants out there putting their lives on the line to protect us. I can't eat glutens (can't eat the bread) so I wasn't sure if I would have very many menu choices. The staff was very helpful, letting me know the gluten free options. Unlike a lot of restaurants, especially sandwich shops, the staff doesn't usually know the ingredients well enough to tell me if it is gluten free. I had the chopped Italian salad. the ingredients were fresh and the dressing was light enough that it did not smother the salad. The salad selection was great - I can't wait to go back and try the other salads. read more

We showed up on their opening night and the customer service was top notch. We ordered a variety of sandwiches and they were all unique and tasty in their own right. The brisket was tender and juicy and fresh I can still taste it now. They even have a good variety of sandwiches under 500 calories for people trying to stay light. I can't say all their sandwiches suck but mine sure did. I got the turkey bacon ranch sub and it was soggy and gross by the time I got home which would probably not have happened if my "hot" sandwich was actually toasted. I love how this company got started and I really wanted to like it but sadly I won't go back. The customer service wasn't great either. I was greeted when I walked in but no one looked up when they welcomed me which just seemed insincere and pointless. I gave it 2 stars instead of one because the pickle that came with the sandwich was pretty good but it's sad that that was the highlight of my meal. I'd take subway over this place any day read more

Went back in the weekend 2/26 and had waited for 30+ mins for my medium New York Steamer. Receipt showed 1:01pm didn't get my sandwhich till 1:38pm, Not good for a fast food sandwhich. Maybe manger or owner need to staff up on the weekends. read more
