There was no apology from our server, when we asked for a manager, they just questioned and argued over everything, rather than just making it right for us. Even after the long wait, they forgot my sister in laws food! Again, no apology! we had two babies with us and it was so unfortunate that they didn't make things right after we complained. First time visiting Fireside Cafe today. Wanted to like it but when I ordered a reuben sandwich.. it wasn't corn beef, it was some sort of pot roast on grilled rye, sauerkraut with cheese and dressing.. I was immediately taken aback and ate half the sandwich trying to figure out what kind of meat it was..I've eaten a million reubens in my lifetime and have also cooked at home. I was finally done because what I ordered is not what I received. Said something to the waiter and pulled back the bread from the other half to show him to which he went back to check.. came back and said he never had a reuben but they told him it was.. I'm like NO, it doesn't look or taste like corn beef.. it's dark brown. Another young waitress came by and said she was told that it was corn beef but the seasoning was missing when they received it.. she then said..I would have told you that but I wasn't your server. Well little miss, you don't know what you're talking about because this meat didn't even have the same texture as corn beef. It had the taste and texture of chipotle barbacoa. Server came back and because I ate 1/2 the sandwich, he charged me 1/2 price for my meal. Whatever. Not going back. Very inexperienced servers who don't know the menu or types of meat. A good note... Ate here with daughter's family tonight for the first time. Great service but I don't remember the young lady's name. The food all came out piping hot, I had to wait 7-8 minutes for my Cuban to cool off so I wouldn't burn my mouth. Side salads are a bit small but fresh and well put together. The Stromboli and meatball sandwich were deemed delicious. The atmosphere is stark and contemporary, and somewhat noisy. Love trying new places to eat and supporting local establishments. My husband and I had lunch here today and it exceeded our expectations for a brand-new restaurant. We had the spinach artichoke fondut (Total Yum), the chicken Parmesan sandwich with a side of chili, and the meatball sandwich with fries. The meatball sandwich came with more meatballs than I was expecting and covered with a boatload of cheese just the way I like. Everything was good! Service was prompt & friendly. We decided to try this restaurant after reading the reviews on here. I wish I would have taken a picture of my meal when it came out. I ordered the pork chops with mashed potatoes and gravy. It looked like a plate of gravy with a mound of potatoes. The pork chops were like rubber. I thought they were supposed to be marinated, but they had no taste. I have gone here twice now and have loved everything I have eaten. I had the shrimp the first time which was flavorful and my husband had the Stromboli was big and tasty. I had the knuckle sandwich the second time which was huge and the onion straws in it were great. My daughter loved the grilled chicken and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese is baked and very cheesy. I was sitting in my car sipping my smoothie from smoothie king the other day and noticed this place in front of me. So I went in to see what they had for lunch. I got a grilled veggie salad which was good, but soggy as hell by the time I got it home (I ordered to-go). The veggies were delicious but there was juice/ water sitting in the bottom of the box. It was decently priced for all the stuff they put on the salad. I'd probably recommend to just eat at the restaurant though. No one else was even inside when I walked in. Had a good meal for dinner here. I got the Reuben which was quite delicious - one of the better Reuben's I've had. I had the rice pudding for desert which was served hot and tasted excellent. The Fireside Cafe is THE BEST burger in Cincinnati !!! I had the patty melt on Texas toast with extra cheddar cheese in addition to the Swiss on it. The only thing I would change is to cut the sandwich diagonal not down the middle. This will be my go to place from now on!!! Christopher, our waiter made us feel very welcome at the cafe and wanted to be sure everything was right. There was a small error, but he made it right immediately and told us we should be more than satisfied with our meal. We definitely were satisfied. First let me say that some of the reviews seem to be posted by pretentious prima donnas who have nothing else to do but write a dozen paragraphs about an casual meal at a local restaurant. You are not the food critic for the New York Times. My wife and I have been to Fireside for breakfast three times. Each experience was excellent. I believe some reviewers are so used to fast food that they forget that freshly prepared food takes a little longer. We enjoyed generous portions of very tasty food served with a smile each time. First time I ate here service was ok, food just average - the chicken breast in my salad had lots of gristle. Decided to give it a second try but service was horrible - or should I say non- existent. We were seated quickly but apparently no server was assigned to our booth. We watched 3 different parties come in after us and have their orders taken. Multiple servers walked by our booth and saw that our menus were still sitting on the table (signifying we hadn't ordered) but no one stopped. It is nice to see a family-run, independent restaurant amongst the many chains in West Chester and Liberty Twp. The pizza dough is special as it does not have any yeast. They make their own sauce (gravy). The result ranks among the best pizza in Cincinnati. The spinach dip and chicken parmesan were also standouts. You could tell everything was fresh and made to order. I read that they do not even own a freezer... We also ate breakfast there and it was delicious. My wife is very particular about hotcakes and has not found any place that made them as well as our diner in San Antonio, TX...until now! Fireside Cafe gets an A++ for breakfast overall and absolutely for their hotcakes...lite and fluffy inside and golden with a little tiny bit crunchy outside. Outstanding. This was my first time eating at Fireside Cafe. My wife and I agree that this our new favorite place. Menu offers a variety of options at reasonable prices. We had a Mediterranean plate for staters and the humus and tzatziki were homemade and delicious. The Cajun pasta was very good not too spicy and the portion was large enough to take home for lunch tomorrow. We went for lunch today (Mothers Day) and expected a crowd, but i was not prepared for the wait today. We were seated within minutes, but then no server came for nearly 15 minutes. Once we finally put our order in, we sat for another 45 mins. By the time the food came, we had been there over an hour. Again, i get it, busy holiday with lots of groups. But our food was so disappointing. My son's omelette was cold. Mine had no cheese. My husband's fish and chips was just so-so. We have eaten there many times before. Some days are great. Been here a few times. Each time the food is good and the service is fine. They charge $2.50 for each additional topping on their large pizzas though. I think that's too much, but at the same time I don't mind paying if I actually get something for that $2.50. Ordered a pizza with jalapeños and even said I would like extra. The food was great-- the service and management was incredibly disappointing. After asking how much longer our food would be (after ordering almost 30 minutes ago), the sever said there was confusion about our order-- not apologizing or even bringing it up to us. After bringing out the food, plate by plate, my food was still missing. After almost 10 minutes later my food had come out piping hot, meaning either it was forgotten by the kitchen or forgotten to order by the sever. Again, no apology or explanation to why it came out so much later. When we asked to see a manager, she came out and argued with us about the wait time and tried to justify, even though it was not an error on our part. She came back and said my meal was on the house, but the rest of the food would only be 20% off. This is the worst service I have had in years. If you're going to venture here I would recommend picking up to go and crossing your fingers that nothing is wrong, because if it is, you won't be treated with adequate customer service. read more

I wasn't really impressed with Fireside. The décor was lacking and the menu was weird. I couldn't tell if the place was a bar or a restaurant. Italian or American. The service was nice but I just felt like I was missing something. I ordered the no. 17 (not sure why its called that) its a rice dish with shrimp. A lot of people had pictures of it on yelp so I went for it. The rice seemed like it was sitting out for awhile and the shrimp was rubbery. My fiancé got their chicken finger meal and didn't complain so they must have been good. My family got the (brick?) chicken and that looked good but it was very large. They seemed to like it though. We did order the cheesy bread and artichoke dip for appetizer and it was very cheesy. I'm usually a cheese lover but this was kind of over kill. I was excited to try this place as I've driven by it few times. Wish I would have kept driving by it. Slow service with bare minimum of friendly attitude. Sign said please wait to be seated but with no one there, I seated myself. Ordered the pork sandwich with thousand island and caramelized onions. The side of fries was a joke. You're given a small portion. Fries are cheap! Why are you skimping! Sandwich had almost no dressing, and apparently they have a much different idea of what caramelized onions are. What they are not is crispy and chunky. That is what I got. I was unhappy. Didn't eat anything. Waitress offered me a to go box!? Why would I bring something home I didn't want at the restaurant?? She said I informed them,which I assumed meant Mgr. She came back with a full check, and I had to pay for everything, despite not eating 1 bite! Never spoke with mgr as I can only assume my experience was not important to them at all. I paid my check. As I'm leaving I asked the waitress(the only 1 there) what is your managers name? She flat out refused to give it to me. Just said one sec and walked away. I left. I'm sure the 5 stars are from people that had a good experience without issue, but as soon as you have one, it's horrible.
