This place makes it their business to scam airmen. Best if avoided. I installed new shocks and tires on my car, and got an alignment there. They did nothing, cost 80$. I asked them to scan my car with an obdII (on board diagnostic) scanner since it had a code at the time and my roommate couldn't find his scanner. This takes literally seconds and they probably have many scanners. The guy behind the counter took me for a person who knows absolutely nothing about cars (not the case), and gave me a line of BS. After charging me $80, for nothing. There are probably worse places you could go, but talk to people who have been on base for a while and most will tell you to avoid this place like the plague. read more

I start off saying that if there was 6 stars available I would give that. I had some work done there at the Travis AFB location about 4 months ago, in March, and only just now took the time to send out a review. My Service Advisor was Arielle and my Tech was Jason. I was already on edge because this shop is 'on Base' and I might have issues getting back on once I leave without the vehicle I came in with. I got here just as they were about to shut down for the day, with a broken starter just jumped by a local tow service. So, once I shut off the engine it wasn't going to start back up. There were also many cars ahead of me. Basically I was stuck and would have to leave it there over night. Well, we gotta do what we gotta do. So I left my Vehicle with them and walked out of there. Luckily I have some awesome friends in the area who picked me up and would bring me back the next day. Not 2 hours goes by and I get a call from Firestone saying my vehicle is fixed and ready to go! Arielle and Jason stuck around and knocked out a starter replacement in record time, which they did not EVEN have to do, and had me back on the road before it got dark! Almost unheard of in times like these! Then I get back there and they tell me what the bill is. I was just blown away! Slightly more than a deluxe oil change! I was practically speechless by now and just SO grateful that these guys went the extra mile and got me rollin' again. If I am ever in the area, (anywhere near), and need any kind of auto service I will go out of my way to get on Base and have it done there. NEVER, in all my experience have I been treated so well when it comes to auto service. Thank you all, so very much. read more

Why did I go here again? Oh yeah, because it's convenient...never again. The last 2 times I've been here, they've caused more damage than there was to begin with. The 1st was a simple oil change. I brought it home, the next morning I had a pool of oil on my previously clean driveway. I brought it back and was told that there was nothing found and it was probably residual. OK, whatever. Later, I find another pool of oil. I bring it back and they told me the technician overtightened the nut which caused it to leak. Why didn't they find this out the 1st time I brought it back! My next experience was even more horrible. I had them do a $10 service inspection to make sure everything was safe before I drove to Texas. They did and I was told everything was good to go (fluid levels good, tire pressure good, etc.). The next morning, not even 12 hours later, one of the tires was completely flat! Instead of starting my drive, I had to unload the car and bring it back to Firestone. The technician found that tire's valve was damaged. Those tire have been on there for months with no issues, but when Firestone touches it, they screw it up as usual. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. They know they will always have customers because they are located on base. That shouldn't mean that they can do unacceptable work. read more

I have to give 5 stars to this place because I they were the only ones to actually tell me that a cell in my alternator was the cause of my car draining my battery. I have taken my car to two different Dodge dealerships (under warranty) at two different states and I have had three battery changes. Two for free and one that I paid for. I kept going back telling the dealerships that it had to be more than the battery and they kept telling me No. The dealership wanted to charge me $150 to do a diagnosis and Firestone charged me $24 to check the battery and alternator. Personal feeling was that since I had a warranty they would only check certain things because everything but labor is covered. If I took the vehicle to a place other than the dealership they would tell me everything that is wrong with the car because I would probably have to pay for it. Firestone found the problem...a dead cell in the Alternator and that it would have to be replaced. I took this information back to the dealership service department and made a complaint and asked why were they not able to find this years ago. I had to pay the dealership $150 just to check and WOW, guess what? They found a dead cell in the alternator. Everything buy labor covered with warranty. Taking my 2nd car to this place because I am having the same issues with my 2nd car now. Hope this time it is the battery...no warranty on this one! read more

Got no updates so I called before they closed on monday just to be told that it would be done tuesday. Then on tuesday, Again I called end of the day just to be told that the technician called out so I have to wait until thursday now. Bringing in a GSA vehicle for simple oil change and tire rotation around late morning one morning, stopped by around the afternoon right befoee lunch time to ask what the ETA they gave me til late that afternoon for completion. So I decided to come back late next day in the morning to see if they were done.. they did not even start on it. And they said they will get it done by early that afternoon... Called at 1pm and they told me it will be done in 20-30 min. So I decided to get dropped off by a friend to get the vehicle 20 min after the phone call and notice the vehicle sitting there with the "hood up" and it looks like it hasn't been touched at all. So now I am waiting here to see when this will be done. They should really give better estimate on time. read more

Again, they tell me it can't be plugged. They say that the new plug has to be at 14 inches from the old plug. I called Petrillos in Vacaville, a very reputable place, and they say that's untrue! . I came in for an alignment. Didn't realize my right lower control arm bolt was missing the nut. Instead of putting a nut on and doing the alignment, I was charged for a vehicle inspection. No alignment done. Never asked for an inspection. Most likely will never go back read more

This shop deserves ZERO stars! Saturday May 30st I took my 01 Audi A4 Quattro in for an oil change and a $10 inspection. 4 hours later I left with a completely ruined car! Following leaving Firestone I pulled up to a red light intersection and nearly lost my life!!! I was unable to stop because my brakes were not working properly and/or like pre-inspection anymore! Immediately took the car back to Firestone and demanded the problem to be corrected on the spot. They did, but now caused a much bigger problem. Again leaving firestone and this time my car overheats and upon further investigation the radiator came apart and all cooling fluids were lost!!! Now I am facing huge repair charges for a new head gasket. Day 2 and my battery is completely dead... Coincidence I think not!!!!!! This shop need to be investigated asap!!! read more

ATTENTION all Military Members, Do NOT ever go to this place. If you want to find a vehicle repair shop that likes your money more than you do this is the place. I have two bad experiences here to use as examples. 1) My driver side car window was stuck in the down position on my 2001 Mustang. A common problem with these vehicles after a few years of wear and tear. So I frantically only went here because I didn't want to driver far or get stuck off base with a car I couldn't close up and lock shut. I had to schedule an appt. for a day and a half later for a "diagnostics" check, I explained to the person at the counter my passenger door goes down/up using the driver side switch only and not the passenger switch, while I scheduled this appt. I know it isn't the window motor but most likely a switch problem with the passenger door, I am not a mechanic but I am also not completely incompetent. While driving back to my appt. time the driver side window went back up and started working again. I agreed to have the car checked anyway, hoping they could find an electrical problem for me. So I again explained to the person working the front counter what was going on with the vehicle windows. 45 min. later I receive a phone call notifying me they supposedly ran a "diagnostics" check, charged me $100 for it, and that I needed to replace the the passenger side window switch. I couldn't believe my ears, they repeated to me what I had already told them twice, but charged me $100 to tell me what I had already told them. Then they proceeded to try and charge me an additional $71 for the switch that cost under $30 at any other location ( See posted picture). Then they said they'd have the car ready at 16:30, so I showed up at 16:45 and my car hadn't been worked on. It's about a 5 min. switch installation. It doesn't end here, I had them give me my car back because I wasn't waiting around on these prices, only to find greasy finger prints on the inside of my car. I also posted a picture of the greasy prints I have to clean up myself now. 2) I brought my girlfriends 2001 Alero here with 110,000K miles on it, needed a routine 3,000 mile oil change. During the oil change they called her to tell her she needed to flush out her coolant and replace the battery and have the starter serviced. They proceeded to run up a $400 bill for her that she reluctantly declined. The whole car is only worth $2,000 so why put that much money into it. This was 6 weeks ago, she has driven another 3,000K miles in the same car. It has started every time just fine and not over heated once and she lives in Chico, CA where it has been more than 100 degrees every single day for the past 3 weeks. Apparently that battery and radiator are doing just fine, these jokers are less than knowledgeable when it comes to cars. Luckily I have just enough knowledge to set them straight, what a terrible business. - Minus 1 star for over pricing - Minus 2 star for not finishing the job - Minus 3 star for mis treating my car - Minus 4 star for bad advise and no know car knowledge what so ever. - 1 Star because I had to, and for their convenient location, well convenient for them anyway. I work on base. I've heard a lot of bad things about this place but figured it was convenient because it is geographically close to my work. After buying my tires here and paying my for all the coverage on the tires I got a flat and barely got to the tire shop. I was on my way to work. The told me Its going to take about three hours because They must finish the other cars getting new tires first. I am the only customer actually waiting in the lobby. It's raining so walking to work is not appealing. In my experience other companies fix your flats right away as it is fast and viewed as an emergency. Even in many cases of you didn't buy your tires there. I won't be buying anything else from firestone in the future. I will be working on base for many years to come and will not promote their services. I will advocate that they be replaced by a better company when their contract is up. read more

I only give them one star because you have to give them a rating in order to post. Please read all reviews and make up your mind, but more than likely it will be not to go here. I wish I would have read the reviews before going here. My parents taught me if you can't say anything good don't say anything. Well they are really good at taking your money. They are good at listening to what you have to say, and repeating what you told them. With that said, they are terrible at giving advise and following instructions. Examples below: 1. Took in for A/C issues, first time the A/C worked for 1 month, 2nd time the A/C worked for 24 hours and they said there was no leak. Third time, they found the leak and stated I now needed a new A/C compressor, clutch and the trimmings for a grand total of approximately $800.00. (watch youtube, you can do it for far much cheaper and not hard at all). 2. I informed them that my vehicle was hesitating and sputtering. I believed it need a tune up but I would like a diagnostic to verify. They changed the spark plugs and spark plug wires (thats the tune up) and DID NOT diagnose the issue. When I picked up my vehicle I told them the vehicle was still having the issues. The Manager stated he would now do a "free" diagnose for me. Which was funny because I had asked for that to begin with and was even quoted on my receipt. They over charge and take advantage. Consult youtube before you attempt any car repairs. If they state you need a professional, seek the professional (just not at firestone). read more

I've lived on base for years, and the only place I would go to in a pinch for wheels and tires would be the Firestone on base. They had bad rep that was probably caused by the crew that was there years ago but the past is the past. Now however, I can go in and be greeted by a familiar face while knowing that I'm getting the honest and upfront customer service that we all deserve. I have gone there for all my vehicles. Last vehicle I went in for service was my BMW M3. I went in with a low tire pressure thinking that it was punctured and sure enough it was but to the point that it couldn't be repaired so I asked for a quote and made a date to go in and have the tires installed. The tires needed to be special ordered due to the uncommon size and type but even so, I received just the same customer service I've come to expect whether I bought them at the shop or through an online source and have them delivered directly to the shop for me. They treated me like they should have and what a lot of places out here are neglecting. read more

Firestone was just down the street so I limped over there just in time to see them locking up for the night, 15 minutes past closing time. I knocked on the glass and and spilled my sob story to Frank who dropped everything and got me hooked up in no time. I come here regularly to get oil changes in both our vehicles. I've never been treated with anything other than the utmost respect. The mechanics are always polite, helpful, and considerate of my time. I see oftentimes people complaining about being ripped off by mechanics or having things done to their cars so they're forced to come back. I've never seen any hidden motives by these men. They take care of my cars as if they were their own. I've yet to have a bad experience here. read more

I've been going to the Firestone in Fairfield CA for a number of years. Yesterday my car broke down and I needed it towed their. They gave me a diagnostic quote of $220.00. I thought that's pretty high and made the assumption like other shops it would go towards the repair. Turns out a $29.00 part costed me $420.00 to have it installed and labor was maybe 45 minutes at most. So know that the diagnostic you pay for even if it's for replacing something that you normally get out the door for ver little. I was stuck and not much choice bringing a towed car in on a Sat. I may be wrong but they don't get anymore of my money. Update: Since this review they have credited me back the difference between the basic diagnostic and the full one. I am fine with the cost of the repair. read more

The customer service is average and they are always running late. Every time I get my car serviced here, they never complete my service by the promised time. They always run late, so if you're pressed for time or have plans, don't come here! The parts is 10-20% above other auto retailers. The tires are in line with prices of other auto parts store. I don't think I'm returning here based on their customer service. I don't mind paying a little more for good service but this place has above retail prices and mediocre service. read more

I took my car to firestone in Vacaville for new tires only to have them break the sensors for the tire pressure and then they couldn't fix it. I took my car to the Fairfield location and the manager Mike was super helpful. They were closing but he still made time to fix the Vacaville locations mistake. They F'in suck at life. Spent almost $2,000 on replacing my whole power steering system. Idiots thought they ordered wrong part first time which took extra days. Drove home to Michigan on leave and hit Nebraska and issues with the steering. Had mechanic look at it at home and said they did some pis poor maintenance. Took to Firestone in Michigan and they fixed some leaks and said they also suck at working on cars. Got back and changed the rack and pump for a second time, mechanic left vice grips on hose and luckily I found that. Week later back in and ordering another rack and replaced for a third time with the pump. Now a few days of having it back the fluid looks puking brownish yellow so get to deal with the F'in idiots again. Don't go to Firestone on base. They are lucky they got a star. read more

A basic place to go if you can't go anywhere else for car service. Conveniently located on Travis Air Force Base, and the guys at the front desk are friendly. I was quoted for a headlight replacement that would take 45 minutes. After 1 1/2 hours and no phone call, come to find out the repairman had gone to lunch without updating me on a backorder ed bulb set. However, they were willing to put the car back together until the new bulbs arrived, but only after I pressed for it. If you're not willing to be persistent, don't bother coming here because your car will NOT be the priority. read more

Went there expecting to get a simple oil change and one of their mechanics broke a piece on my car and said that the piece wouldn't be in for another three days, so they kept it for that long. But they gave me a rental for those days And covered the cost of the repair as well as the oil change. They also did a wheel balancing for 17.99 and that's all I paid for the whole ordeal. read more

really wish i would have read the reviews before I came here but out of convenience being on base AND making an appointment ahead of time I didn't think much of it. Just needed an oil change. Arrived early and checked my car in and was told 1-2 hrs. They were busy so sure whatever. I didn't mind to wait for a couple hours. ALMOST 4 HOURS LATER and I am still waiting, growing more and more impatient. At the 3 hr mark they tell me all the other stuff "wrong" with my vehicle and I'm just over it at this point. And I politely say no thank you and the receptionists says okay they're just putting the oil in and the tires on.... ????? um wth have they been doing for 3 hours then???? Save your time and don't go here. It's not worth it in any sort of way. Awesome , honest and hardworking employees here ! I have taken my last 2 cars here for full inspection before buying a used car .. Straight up told me a list of issues to take to the dealer to have fixed or they recommended I not buy the car. Sure enough when I showed the list to the dealer .. He laughed and said "that's why I was getting a good deal" .. Firestone offers military discounts and I only paid 17.00 dollars for a full inspection, and anywhere else there going to charge you 100.00 . Quality stops with the people at the front counter. They tell me my 95 Silverado has bad tie rods and they wont align it. BUT they can fix the issue for $700. The mechanics there cant be too bright because the tie rods are brand new. I replaced them not long ago myself. read more

They tried to trick me into buying 4 new tires. I came in because I found a screw lodged in my tire. They told me they couldn't repair it and that they'd need to replace the tire. Since my car is AWD, that would mean I'd have to replace all 4, which would suck. I asked if I could still drive on that tire because I wanted to take the car somewhere else, and they said yes. I got suspicious of them since they pulled the screw out of the tire but said it was still okay for me to drive to another place. I got a second opinion elsewhere and they said the screw went through a thick part of the tread but never punctured anything important. They held the tire underwater and determined it wasn't leaking. Cost me $0. If I had listened to Firestone, I would have bought 4 brand new tires when my tire was just fine. read more

Additionally, after giving them the keys I walked across the street to wait. I figured 40 min would be good enough to come back and sure enough my truck hadn't even moved. I had an appointment too, and it moved 45 min later. What good is an appointment if you aren't even going to touch the vehicle for 45 min. And over priced BTW. read more

I'm staying on Travis AFB for 2 weeks while I get eye surgery. I stopped in to check price of getting rear brakes. I stopped in before even checking this website. I asked the guy at the counter for a cost estimate for brakes. He said it would cost $10 to get an inspection (and a separate appointment). I'm pretty sure I don't need an inspection just to give me a price quote for brakes... He said it could be calipers, rotors, or pads. I informed him my calipers are fine I just need pads. He let me know that he was 'just trying to help me out', and that he couldn't quote me a price without an inspection. At this point, without saying another word, I walked out of the store. This place is a joke. I don't care about the $10 inspection fee, but If I say I need pads...then that's what I need. It clearly seems to me they are trying to take advantage of people who they think don't know their way around a car and get them to pay for things they don't need. I would have gladly let them inspect it, and charge me $10, and tell me what they think the car needs, but don't bullshit me about needing an inspection just to give me a quote for brakes. After getting home and reading the rest of the reviews, it does not surprise me. This place does not belong on base. read more
